This morning I woke up late.

So, I didn’t have enough time to eat a proper breakfast.
אפילו לא שתיתי את הקפה של הבוקר.
I didn’t even drink my morning coffee.
אני חייב לעצור בבית קפה ולהזמין משהו בדרך לעבודה.
I have to stop at a café and order something on the way to work.

So what am I ordering?

I want a large café hafoukh.

With a lot of milk, and no sugar.

Today, I want to talk with you about Passover.
קודם כל, לחג הפסח יש כמה שמות בעברית, וכל שם אומר לנו משהו על החג.
First of all, Passover has several names in Hebrew, and each one tells us something about the holiday.
חג האביב – בגלל שהוא קורה באביב,
Spring Festival — because it takes place in spring,
חג המצות – כי אוכלים מצות,
Matzah Festival — because we eat matzah,
חג החירות – כי עם ישראל יצא מעבדות לחופש.
Freedom Festival — because the people of Israel went from slavery to freedom.
בימים שלפני החג, כולם מנקים טוב טוב את הבית ומנסים להיפטר מכל החמץ.
In the days before the holiday, everyone cleans their home thoroughly and tries to get rid of all chametz (leavened food).
יש אפילו משפחות שאוכלות הרבה עוגות, פסטה ולחם בשבוע שלפני החג — כדי לסיים את הכול.
Some families even eat lots of cakes, pasta, and bread in the week before — just to finish everything.

Because we spend a lot of time every day in the safe room, we now know each other much better.

לנשום אוויר.
breathe some fresh air.
אפשר לעשות קצת ספורט —
You can do a bit of sport —
או בחדר כושר, או עם חברים בחוץ.
either at the gym or with friends outside.
לא צריך אימון ארוך,
You don’t need a long workout,
תוך כמה דקות כבר מרגישים יותר טוב.
after a few minutes you already feel better.
ואפשר גם להיפגש עם חברים,
And you can also meet with friends,
לדבר, לצחוק, לא להיות לבד.
talk, laugh, not be alone.
בסוף, הדברים הקטנים האלה
In the end, these small things
עוזרים לנו להירגע
help us relax
ולהרגיש קצת יותר טוב ❤️
and feel a little better ❤️

יש חיילים שנמצאים עדיין בחזית ולא יוכלו לחגוג עם המשפחה,
Some soldiers are still on the front line and won’t be able to celebrate with their families,
ויש גם כאלה שלא יחזרו בכלל.
And some will not return at all.
אולי גם בפסח נשמע אזעקות וטילים.
Maybe even during Passover, we will hear sirens and rockets.
ואולי יש משפחות שיעשו את הסדר במקלט?
And maybe some families will hold the Seder in a shelter?
אבל לא משנה איפה: כולנו נשב ביחד בליל הסדר,
But no matter where, we will all sit together on Seder night,
זה רגע מאוד חשוב ויפה:
It’s a very important and beautiful moment:
קוראים ביחד, ילדים ומבוגרים, את ההגדה כדי להיזכר בסיפור של עם ישראל.
We read together — children and adults — the Haggadah to remember the story of the people of Israel.
כולנו יודעים איפה כל אחד עובד בזמן הרגיל, מה הוא אוהב לעשות כשהוא לא בעבודה, ומה הוא אוכל בימי שישי.
We all know where each person works in normal times, what they like to do when they are not working, and what they eat on Fridays.
לילדים אין בית ספר או גן.
The children don’t have school or kindergarten.
הם מאוד מתגעגעים לחברים שלהם ולשגרה שלהם.
They really miss their friends and their routine.
כולנו מקווים שעוד מעט נוכל לחזור לחיים נורמליים.
We all hope that soon we will be able to return to normal life.
