Healthy Parents = Healthy Families Podcast 000
Season 1 · Episode 1
jeudi 16 janvier 2020 • Duration 04:53
Welcome to our very first episode of Healthy Parents=Healthy Families. I’m your host, Heather Robertson.
I struggled with my weight since I was about 8 years old. After dealing with dieting and eating disorders for many years, I finally managed in my 30s to figure out how to take care of my body.
Along this journey, I’ve talked with literally hundreds of other people facing the same challenges. The vast majority of them say their weight issues started in childhood as well. I realized that the most helpful thing I could do to help others is to talk straight to parents.
My goal for this podcast is to educate parents. I want to share positive ways you can lead by example so children feel nourished, supported, and loved. That’s our job as parents. I love Ellen Stater’s Division of Responsibility philosophy. It's a positive way for parents to teach children to manage their own eating. I will be referring to this philosophy throughout the first half of this series.
Each week you’ll hear interviews with nutrition and psychology experts. They will help us have a clear division of responsibility when it comes to mealtimes, physical activity, and appropriate language and behavior around food.
