3 Ways to Get More Profit26 May 202200:11:53
Hate Marketing? Start Here19 May 202200:13:04

Today, the founder and CEO of Jetpack Workflow, David Cristello is back with another solo cast to cover another hard topic that permeates the accounting industry - marketing.

Most firms grow through word of mouth and thrive because they have specialized packages for a particular customer. This is ideal, but after a while, you need to have a system for acquiring new clients on a regular basis. This is achieved through consistent marketing.

With a reliable flow of new clients each month, you'll have more accurate forecasting and can measure your capacity and get ahead on a hiring strategy

Today's episode will cover a few tactics for creating a sound marketing strategy.

The Process and Outputs Come First12 May 202200:08:23

Today, the founder and CEO of Jetpack Workflow, David Cristello is reflecting on a quote from Marcus Lemonis, host of the reality TV show The Profit. In the show, Marcus would go into small businesses and assess the three P's: People, Process, and Product.

He'd determine where the biggest issues were and help the owners make corrections.

Typically, the people (staff) were great, and when they weren't, it was obvious they needed to go. If this were the case, he'd advise the owners to get rid of them quickly so the rest of your team can perform at a higher level.

From there, he would assess how to get their products (which were also usually great) out of the door. This led him to a philosophy that resonates with David and many firm owners: "Look at processes before you look at the people."

Oftentimes, confusion and lack of growth within your staff isn't a result of the people, but a byproduct of a bad process. It leads your staff to a lot of wasted time trying to figure out what needs to be done, on top of all of the other work they are trying to complete. Eventually, burnout is the result.

The Hidden, Simple Growth Lever in Your Firm05 May 202200:08:59

Today, founder and CEO of Jetpack Workflow, David Cristello is discussing a simple tactic that's easy to implement and can improve profits but is often ignored—raising your prices.

Raising prices is a sensitive topic and plenty of firm owners struggle with when and how to do it. However, if you aren't evaluating your prices frequently, you are likely underselling your clients.

However when you implement a new pricing strategy, you'll elevate profits and your client base and have a better work/life balance as you scale.

Creating A Great Client Experience With Content Snare07 Apr 202200:21:14

If you work in a marketing agency, accounting firm (or pretty much any service business), you know how frustrating it is to get information from clients.

Clients avoid your emails for weeks. When they get back to you it spirals into a 57-email trail full of questions and attachments. Even then, only half your questions will be answered and it's not clear which items are still outstanding.

It's a big mess and a colossal waste of time.

That's why we built Content Snare.

It makes gathering info from your clients fast and easy.

Think of it like sending a checklist, where your client can answer questions and upload images all in one place.

If they don't finish everything in one go, it will send automatic reminders to make sure you get what you need fast.

It's kind of like hiring a new personal assistant that does all the chasing for you, except you don't have to pay another salary.

It allows you to get back to higher value work, and at the same time makes the process easy for your clients.

On average, our customers spend 71% less time gathering and chasing content than they did before finding Content Snare.

If you're an:

➡ Accounting firm -> Try Content Snare for client onboarding, monthly queries or end of year documentation.
➡ Digital Agency -> Use it to collect website content, images and copy.
➡ Finance or Insurance broker -> Ask your clients to upload all the documentation you need.

If you're not one of these, don't stress. All kinds of companies use Content Snare, including non-profits, real estate, insurance and many more.

Here's why people love Content Snare

✅ The process is *extremely* easy for your clients
✅ All your client info can be accessed in one secure location
✅ Content Snare fits right into your existing workflow

3 Amazing Tips to Build an Accounting Firm Brand That Stands Out23 Sep 202100:28:08

When I was younger, people said I was too creative to be an accountant, and too organised to be a creative. Turns out the combination of those two skills is exactly why I was able to create The Profitable Firm (PF): a creative agency working exclusively and only with accountants.

I qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in the States, and worked as an auditor for the State of Arizona before coming to the UK in 2001. When I moved here, I got a job as an auditor at a local accountancy firm in Scotland, but very quickly got moved to business development and setting up a consultancy division for that firm. I then moved on to managing the European office of a global network of accounting firms, and following that set up PF. (For five years I also ran a successful international wedding photography business alongside the creative agency.)

I now focus my energies on helping inspire and educate accountants on the power of content marketing, which PF uses itself to show accountants by example how this is done.

I love training, teaching, and coaching. I'm always honoured when asked to speak to accountants - and although I like big groups well enough, I prefer the smaller, more focused groups where I can get to know people as individuals, and help them with what's troubling them in marketing. I have presented on a large scale and small scale for organisations including Xero, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), the UK200 Group, BKR International, AccountingWeb, Accountex, and Thriveal CPA Network.

PF is based "everywhere", with a core team working from the UK, South Africa, and the United States delivering outsourced marketing to accountancy firms all over the globe.

I keep my creativity alive with photography, sketchnoting, and writing. I'm now a dual British-American citizen, and (after much travel) I confirm that Scotland is the most beautiful country in the world. I drink copious amounts of black coffee.

One Quick Trick Could Stop Accounting Firm Hackers For Good16 Sep 202100:26:42

**In an attempt to keep my LinkedIn contact relevant, if you send an invite to connect with me, please include a note as to how we are connected. No offense, but random recruiters, financial managers and coaches won't make the cut if we haven't met. THANKS!**

My personal mission is to help CPAs and small businesses to leverage technology for their success.

Once a practicing CPA I discovered a passion for technology. After years of churning out tax returns and completing audits I discovered my Hedgehog (see Jim Collin's, Good to Great) and decided to marry my passions for the accounting industry and technology.

I am honored to be recognized as an industry leader on technology topics impacting CPA's. This allows me the opportunity to be a speaker at industry conferences around the country. I embrace these opportunities to educate CPA's on a wide variety of technology topics such as, cloud computing, Microsoft updates and many other topics.

During my journey I have made a number of exciting stops. Notably, as a member of the Maryland Association of CPA's Board of Directors and ultimately Chairman of the Board. I have also participated at a variety of levels with the American Institute of CPA's including currently on the PCPS Executive Committee. I am a regular presenter for state and national conferences, discussing technology and leadership topics for CPAs.

Inside the Journey to Accounting Firm CEO12 Aug 202100:32:23

I am the CEO of Peisner Johnson, a state and local tax accounting firm that's been around since 1992. I started with the firm as a staff assistant 25 years ago and has worked my way up to CEO. Currently, the firm has 25 employees and serves sellers in the United States and Canada.

Since law changes in 2018, state and local taxes have become more complicated so Peisner Johnson has really stepped up to serve their clients as best as possible. The executive team, led by me as the CEO, has implemented new strategies to grow our relationships with our clients. "What's Next" calls and value-based pricing are just two of the ways we've improved our customer (and employee) experience.

Throughout my career, I learned that growing in your positions means being good at managing your work and managing people, you have to be good at both.

3 Examples of LinkedIn (and TikTok?!) Posts for Accounting Firm Owners29 Jul 202100:27:47

I help you cut through the noise so the right customers reach out to work with you.

✅ Capture attention
✅ Build trust as the expert in your industry
✅ Grow revenue

It's hard to stand out and trying to cut through all the noise is overwhelming. It doesn't need to be this way.

I spent 12 years building a tech company with 2.6 million in annual revenue―one of Inc. Magazine's fastest growing companies.

After selling that company―I looked back and realized I could have done it faster. So I got clear on what actually captures attention and gets the right people to take action. I started helping clients get results and now I'm fulfilling a new mission to help entrepreneurs like you accelerate growth.

That's where my thought leadership and video marketing program comes in:

➡️ Develop a marketing strategy designed to fit your unique DNA

― Develop a pillar video concept (e.g. podcasting, live shows, workshops)
― Design your marketing engine around 2-3 hours/week of your time
― Identify the ideal places to publish your content LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, etc

➡️ Map out a content repurposing workflow. Take long-form video and create…

― Audio to send to podcasting platforms (iTunes, Google, Spotify…)
― Short video clips for social media (30 seconds - 1 minute)
― Images and quotes for social media
―Written pieces such as blogs for SEO

➡️ Create engaging and shareable video content that makes people say "Wow!"

― Select, purchase and set up equipment and lighting. Build an "always ready" system.
― Articulate your ideas, present yourself as the expert while looking your best on video
― Overcoming fear or imposter syndrome

➡️ Optimize your social presence, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, etc...

― Optimize profiles and banner images
― Deploy best practices, settings, titles, and descriptions
― Know how to grow your audience rapidly, get views and engagement

I'm also a practitioner who walks the walk―I run a weekly podcast and live streaming show and repurpose content across the internet. I regularly book 10-20 incoming sales calls/week

Get where you want to go―faster:

I'll show you step-by-step how to put the marketing pieces together and avoid the pain of trial and error so you can focus on your business.

― I recently helped a client more than double in size in just over 12 months
― Another grew by $2 million to $9 in the past year
― Someone I'm working with landed 2 new clients in 7 days
