If you’re looking for an issue, you will most likely find it. This is called a self-fulfilling prophecy, and we all do it. We look for what is wrong, or what can go wrong, in hopes of protecting ourselves, but what ends up happening is the opposite.
This is something many podcasters face when being presented with tips and tools to help grow their show. Some podcasters believe that there are strategies that may not help them because of the nature of their show.
Well, we can tell you one thing, they are guaranteed to fail with that strategy, not because it won’t work for them, but because the mindset they are going into it with is setting them up for failure.
This is a common theme, and our host Kevin Chemidlin, wants to address it, and let you know that some of our strategies you think don’t fit your business model or lack of, think again.
There is more to the story, so listen in to today’s episode to find out how to use our growth strategies for your podcast, even if it doesn’t seem logical.
Tune in to hear this and more!
Topics discussed in this episode:
What holds podcasters back from success
Does TPP only work for certain types of shows?

Jazzy has over 20 years of experience in radio and started her own podcasting network, which gives her a ton of insights on this topic. She’s sharing what she’s learned working with both platforms, including whether or not to keep your “radio voice,” advertising, and interviewing.
Listen in for a quick education on the limitations of broadcast radio, the freedom and pitfalls of podcasting, and giving listeners the best experience possible!

Interviewing guests on radio vs. podcasts

Someone has reached out to you telling you they want to sponsor your podcast. It feels like you’ve reached your goal and there’s a reason to celebrate, but this is when the real work begins.
Grow The Show has covered topics like how to pitch yourself to sponsors and choosing the right kind of sponsor for your show, but just like in those blockbuster rom-coms, listeners are left wondering “what happens after they get together?”. The happy ending isn’t when two people finally come together, but when they build a long-lasting relationship.
On today’s episode, Kevin outlines 15 steps you should take once you have an interested sponsor. He goes over the process from beginning to end, from that first conversation with the sponsor to creating terms for the deal, to locking them down for a repeat partnership.
Believe it or not, Kevin was able to start monetizing his first podcast by offering a free sponsorship. Sounds counterintuitive, right? Be sure to tune in and find out how it may work for you as well!

Do less so you can do more. This sounds counterintuitive, doesn’t it? It is actually one of the building blocks of creating a successful podcast show, especially if you’ve been feeling uninspired or have felt your show isn’t growing the way you would have hoped. Contrary to popular belief, being consistent isn’t essential for a successful show, it is actually knowing when and how to take a break. Taking a break could be the difference between creating a podcast that is unfulfilling and has you in the negatives or creating an exciting 7 figure podcast business!
On today’s episode, our host Kevin Chemidlin educates us on how to create a strategy around taking a break. Kevin presents 5 criteria that are proven to help in understanding whether or not to take a break and how to measure each criteria. If all data points point to yes, then it’s time to determine what type of break to take. Yes, all breaks aren’t the same. Do you shut everything down and go on vacation to Hawaii, do you use the break to hunker down to create a new game plan for your podcast, or a little bit of both?
Kevin walks us through each criteria and more to help you decide if it is time for a hiatus that can help accelerate your podcast and avoid burnout. You don’t want to miss this one.
Topics discussed in this episode:
How consistency wasn’t the answer for Kevin’s first podcast “Philly Who”
What happened when Kevin decided to take a break
Reimagining the show while taking a break
Creating room for new ideas
The 5 criteria: A,B,C,D,E
How to measure each criteria to make the decision to keep going or to take a break
Combining the criteria to decide on two break scenarios
3 pitfalls of taking a break
How to avoid these pitfalls
Fears around taking a break
The hack that will allow you to make money while taking a break
Why consistency alone will not make your podcast successful

This is a question podcasters ask me all of the time:
"Should I put my best podcast interviews behind a paywall?"
It makes sense why podcasters might think that would be a great way to get more people to sign up for their Patreon.
HOWEVER, putting your most interesting content behind a paywall could actually hurt your audience growth efforts.
In this episode of Grow The Show, I explain why that is.

The reason why most podcasters struggle with growth has nothing to do with their actual growth strategy.
It's actually because their premise and their audience definition are vague, confusing, and broken. They don't work.
Even if you have the juiciest most effective growth strategy, you're not going to grow if you don't have your premise and your audience definition locked in.
So, that's what we're going to focus on in today's episode.
I'll share two exercises to help you create a super specific audience profile and show premise.
By the end of the show, you'll be able to identify what makes your show totally unique, and refine your show's premise so that it actually HELPS you to grow your audience.

Today I'm answering a question that I get a lot:
How can entertainment-only podcasts grow their audience and monetize?
I'll admit— I usually focus this show on "how to" podcasts because they can be easier to grow and monetize.
However, that doesn't mean that the techniques I teach here can't still be applied to an entertainment-style show.
In fact, the strategies I teach here can be equally as effective for entertainment shows.
The main difference is HOW the tactics are applied and how you prioritize your time.
Today, I'm going to address the similarities and differences between business podcasts and entertainment podcasts.
