Golpo is the Bengali word for stories. It is a curious little word, both a verb and a noun at the same time. As a child Rituparna would insist on two stories and two songs every night. She would pretend to go off to sleep testing her parents to see if they'd finish the story they started to tell. When her grandmother told her stories she would kick her legs in the air fighting sleep before it wrapped her in.
Golpo, the joy of oral storytelling returned to Rituparna's life as a mother. From a visual storyteller she discovered the magic of the spoken word all over again. Now a Performance Storyteller, Trainer, Consultant & Coach Rituparna is the Founder ofYour Story Bag.
Rituparna believes that stories bridge people & telling stories creates a shared experience. So whether you listen to these stories in the classroom, boardroom or living room, each of these stories will trigger conversations amongst people. Go ahead & try it out...

Season 2 | Ep 52 | The Myth of Sisyphus | A Greek Myth
Friday, November 24, 2023 โข Duration 16:05
I end this season with a story that is close to me. I read this one as a young student of Literature and found it echoing through many of the things that have 'repeated' in my life!
When does a task become a punishment? When does an endless loop feel overbearing? When and how do you find purpose in something that doesn't seem to end?
Listen to this one...
I will be back in March, until then, I am busy chasing for stories...

Season 2 | Ep 51 | Dividing the Goose | A Russian Folktale
Friday, November 17, 2023 โข Duration 11:11
Here is a story that I had shortlisted many many weeks ago, but I hadn't recorded it. In ways, I am glad I waited to put this episode together. My response of the story changed after a visit to the Partition Museum earlier this week and I cannot ignore the metaphor that speaks to me.
I donโt imagine you will retell Dividing the Goose in your history class, but I do hope you will read it like a metaphor.
It is a great story to retell in the maths classroom though!
When you retell this story in the living room or boardroom, consider how you divide responsibilities, ownership, losses and profits at home and in your organisations.
Season 2 | Ep 41 | The Nail | A Grimms Brothers Fairytale from Germany
Friday, September 8, 2023 โข Duration 10:56
"For want of a nail the shoe is lost, for want of a shoe the horse is lost, for want of a horse the rider is lost." You have surely heard the proverb before! Here is the story that inspired English writer and George Herbert to write it.
A crisp story that will help you gently nudge conversations around procastination, be careful when retelling this story in the Classroom, Living Room or Boardroom. Refrain from from telling it as a prescriptive, precautionary-tale. Donโt use this story to instil a sense of foreboding, failure or defeat in your listener.
Instead, use it to understand what is stopping your child, sister or colleague from taking the right steps. For all you know, they are unable to take the first step. Help them lay the steps out and take action.

Season 2 | Ep 39 | Why Trees Stopped Moving | A Folktale from Nicobar, India
Friday, August 25, 2023 โข Duration 10:48
Why Trees Stopped Moving is a fascinating folktale from Nicobar Islands that blends in ideas of forests, trees, climate change, intergenerational relationships and migration. Like always, this story resonates equally within the classroom, living room and boardroom.
As a storyteller I feel deeply indebted to folklorists who have gathered these stories from authentic sources to tell them in books and anthologies.
Season 2 | Ep 38 | Counting the Stars | A Gopal Bhand Legend from India
