Finally, reflecting on our most recent guest episode with Dr Ian Peek - in which we discussed the role of parents in introducing our children to Golf and encouraging participation on their terms - Kris also invites you, the GYH Community members, to share your own experiences of how you've introduced your children or wider family to the beautiful game.

#22: Mental Health on Tour with Dr Ian Peek11 Nov 202401:01:51

Mental Health matters, whether you’re an everyday Golfer, or a professional playing at the highest level. That is a view held not only by ourselves here at GYH, but also by this week’s guest, Dr Ian Peek.

#11: Golf for Sands23 Jun 202401:18:54

When 3 bereaved fathers come together, bonded by their shared experience of Baby Loss, amazing things can happen. When Golf is added to the mix, the possibilities are endless.

On Friday 14 June 2024, Kris Lynch, Ben Seabrook and Mike Harris joined forces at Prince’s Golf Club, in Sandwich, Kent, to undertake an all day Golf challenge in support of Sands.

Sands works to save babies' lives and ensure that anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss gets the support and care they need, in a way that works for them, for as long as they need it.

Through their fundraising efforts and thanks to the wonderfully kind donations of family, friends and followers, the boys raised over £1,800 for Sands.

This podcast episode is a raw, emotional and vulnerable account of three Fathers’ grief. It also a humorous, self deprecating and often slapstick account of three average Golfers having spent 14 hours trying to whack a small white ball into a tiny hole, multiple times over until their bodies and minds scream “No More!!!”.

#9: Golf Makes You Smyle with Rob Jansz09 Jun 202401:17:18

When life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade. Or better still, Play Golf.

Reflecting on his childhood in the UK, Rob Jansz has fond memories of playing Golf with his family and friends, having fun and not taking life, nor the game itself too seriously. Then Life happened.

In the intervening years between going to University and then moving overseas to Barcelona, Spain to start a business in the Hospitality sector, Golf took a back seat in Rob’s life. He barely gave it a second thought.

That remained the case, until in 2021, when Rob experienced burnout. He needed to step off the treadmill of life and tread a different path, to find his way again. The path he chose? The fairways of the Golf course.

Since that fateful day in 2021 - which involved 36 holes of Golf and a deeply “profound experience” - Rob has been “reinventing” his relationship with Golf ever since. Not only is he loving being back out on the links again, he’s finding his people while doing so.

Through the creation of Smyle Golf, Rob is establishing a community of Golfers who enjoy some of the finer things the game has to offer. Moreover, through Smyle and through the design, creation and distribution of Habits Scorecards, Rob is introducing Mindfulness practices to the game of Golf.

As Rob explains, there’s much more to Golf than simply how many shots you took to get the ball in the hole. It’s equally important to keep track of what and how you’re feeling, whilst out on the course…

#7: Adversity isn't The End...It's Just the Beginning with Dr Zach Gould16 May 202401:17:16

What has the everyday golfer got in common with someone who’s played at the elite level, been a teammate of Rory Mcilroy at the Junior Ryder Cup and teed it up at Augusta National? A lot more than you’d think…

Beyond his Golfing accolades and talents, both as a player and as a Golf Fitness specialist, Dr Zach Gould is a humble and honest character, who is not afraid to be vulnerable.

In both his formative and adult years, Zach has been dealt his fair share of bad breaks and found himself embedded in the rough on more than one occasion. However, as Zach explains in this fascinating and insightful conversation, adversity isn’t the end of us, it’s a stepping stone to new beginnings.

Alex Frolish enjoys a unique vantage point when playing Golf. As an airline pilot, Alex is an international jetsetter with a difference. When traveling, Alex doesn’t sit idle on stopovers. With his Elevation Golfing Nation alter ego, he resourcefully uses his time to head out to play local golf courses, combining a love of the game, with a passion for Golf writing and a deep respect for Golf course architecture.

Conscious of the environmental impact of his work, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit, Alex has founded EGN Golf as an online Golf retail business, selling innovative, sustainable golf products.

#4: It's Your Honour with Craig McKee30 Mar 202400:45:49

Golf is many things, to many people. To Craig McKee, Golf is a release.

Following the passing of his daughter, Danielle, Craig has found solace in Golf. Out on the course, he has space to reflect and to remember Danielle, calling on her for inspiration as he stands on a tee box or lines up a shot.

Moreover, Golf has presented him and his family with opportunities to raise important awareness around DiGeorge syndrome (22q11 deletion syndrome), a rare and relatively unknown genetic disorder which affected Danielle throughout her life.

Through organising and running a charity Golf day at Elderslie Golf Club, the McKee family have raised vital funds in support of Max Appeal, a UK based charity whose mission is to try to ensure that every person with DiGeorge syndrome lives as independent and prosperous a life as possible.

At GYH, it’s our honour and pleasure to be helping in some small way, to raise awareness for a condition, which, after Down Syndrome, is the second most common genetic condition and one that very few people seem to have ever heard of.

#29: Strength, Resilience and Virtue in Golf - with John Paton17 Mar 202500:38:03

This week's guest is John Paton, Founder of SRV Golf.

After being introduced to Golf during a challenging time in his life - with his mother, Shirley, enduring a long battle with secondary breast cancer at the time - John instantly realised the transformative effect the game was having on him.

With a passion for Golf emerging, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset and a fervent desire to honour his Mum and give back to those who had helped her and John’s family throughout her treatment, he came up with a business idea.

Founding SRV Golf in October 2023, John has created a Golf brand with deep meaning and purpose. Its acronym SRV, stands for Strength, Resilience and Virtue - qualities which he so admired in his mother.

In my conversation with John for this week’s episode of the GYH podcast, we discuss:

* The importance of having a clear purpose: in life, in Golf and in business

* Inspiring stories of Golfers using the game as an outlet to overcome adversity

* Remembering Shirley Cant - the inspiration behind the brand

* The challenges of running a Golf business in a crowded marketplace

* And much more

#3: Ten Grief Lessons from Golf with Robin Chodak16 Mar 202401:05:14

Golf is more than just a game. It’s a metaphor for how you live your life.

Few people are better placed to talk about this, than Robin Chodak.

As a keen golfer and as someone who has experienced more than her fair share of grief and loss, Robin’s life purpose is to inspire and offer hope to others. When her husband, Gerry - a passionate and talented golfer - died suddenly in 2019, Robin felt determined to honour his life and memory.

Through continuing to embrace and enjoy Golf and all of the life lessons it can teach us, a moment of enlightenment came upon Robin. Feeling compelled to inspire and help others on their grief journey, Robin wrote and published her book, Ten Grief Lessons from Golf.

In this enlightening, engaging and inspiring conversation, we pull out some of the key themes from Robin’s book and unpack how we can all apply these life lessons in our game of life and our game of golf. This is an episode not to be missed.

#24: Golf: a Therapy like no other with Danny Clark16 Dec 202400:52:13

Danny Clark, founder of Florio Golf, understands that talking about mental health isn’t always easy—especially if you’re someone who tends to keep things to yourself. As a former competitive golfer who’s faced his own mental health challenges, Danny discovered that golf became more than just a scorecard; it turned into a way to unwind, reflect, and enjoy genuine conversations without the usual pressure.

Florio Golf was born from a simple idea: to make mental health a regular part of the conversation in golf. The goal is to break the stigma by creating a space where golfers can talk openly, check in with each other, and feel supported, without turning every round into a therapy session.

In final episode of Season 2 of the GYH podcast, Kris and Danny get into all things Golf, Mental Health and much more.

#23: Golf: We all Belong Here - with Genelle Aldred02 Dec 202400:55:12

As newcomers, Golfing environments can sometimes feel foreboding and intimidating, so much so that it’s easy to convince ourselves we don’t belong there. However, with a bit of self-belief and the right role models to look up to, we can soon feel right at home in Golf…

This week’s guest is Genelle Aldred, an experienced Broadcast Journalist and Communications Consultant, who combines her professional expertise with a love for Golf.

In January 2023, Genelle wrote about her Golfing journey in The Observer, a piece which was described by the R&A as a “love letter to Golf”. Since then, she has written extensively for Golf media publications, documenting her own playing experiences, as well as advocating for Diversity and Inclusion.

After playing 9 holes of Golf at the picturesque Essendon Country Club, Kris and Genelle sat down for a wide ranging conversation, covering various themes including:

👉🏻 Why everyone should feel like they belong in Golf

👉🏻 How to show up confidently in Golf and in life

👉🏻 How privately owned Golf clubs like Essendon Country Club are leading the way in exceptional customer experience

👉🏻 Why Golf could benefit from thinking “outside of the box” to attract more newcomers

👉🏻 The challenges which Golf influencers face in preserving good mental health and enjoyment from the game

#34 Remembering Rory With Daniel Ashcroft28 Jul 202500:43:20

Dan Ashcroft is an inspiration, both as a Golf Coach and as a human being. At the core of his coaching philosophy, Dan believes that sticking to the basics and doing them well, is more than half the battle when it comes to playing healthy Golf.

He also passionately rejects the notion that Coaches should teach Golfers that they have “get worse, before they get better”. Instead, he believes in identifying the unique characteristics of each Golfer and utilizing their existing strengths, as a foundation for continuous improvement.

However, what we at GYH consider to be Dan’s greatest asset is his vulnerability and openness. In this deeply moving episode, Dan reveals how the loss of his son, Rory, in June 2024, has put Golf and life into perspective, and how Rory’s legacy has taught him to be determined to look to the future with optimism, while living life to its fullest.

#35 The Grind Never Stops - Except On The Golf Course : Sara Fitzpatrick04 Aug 202500:53:49

For Sara Fitzpatrick, Golf is more than just a game - it’s a space to disconnect from the pressures of modern life and reconnect with herself.

As a Wellness Coach, Golf Entrepreneur and proud wife and mother, Sara injects fun and energy into everything she puts her mind to.

Listening to Sara, you will be treated to a gold mine of actionable insights and tips to build healthy habits, which are just as applicable to your Golf game, as they are to your day to day life.

She provides a fascinating insight into goal setting and how so many of us strive towards "outcome goals" in Golf (e.g breaking 100), when in actual fact, sometimes the "process goals" (e.g working on our short game) are more important.

We also talk about Sara's work at The Marker Locker, an innovative Golf accessory which hangs neatly on the side of your golf bag and brings order to your ball marker collection.

From Guesswork to Game Plan — Neil Mathews, Head of Coaching, Wales Golf05 Jan 202600:46:15

In this episode of the Golf Yourself Healthy Podcast, we sit down with Neil Mathews, Head of Coaching at Wales Golf, to uncover why so many golfers struggle to improve — even when they know something isn’t working.

Drawing on years of experience developing elite players and supporting coaches across Wales, Neil explains a common pattern he sees at every level of the game: golfers continue repeating the same mistakes because they don’t truly understand what to change or how to change it. Rather than adapting, they fall back on habits that feel comfortable but hold them back.

Neil shares powerful insights into how better golfers learn, adapt, and problem-solve on the course. He breaks down the mindset shifts that separate players who stagnate from those who improve - focusing on awareness, ownership, and smarter practice rather than endless technical tinkering.

We explore how Neil helps golfers and coaches create simple, effective frameworks for change that protect both performance and long-term enjoyment of the game. From developing juniors to guiding club golfers, his approach emphasises clarity, confidence, and sustainable improvement.

Whether you’re a coach, a competitive golfer, or a club player frustrated by feeling “stuck,” this episode offers expert, experience-led guidance on how to stop repeating the same errors and start making meaningful progress.

What You’ll Learn
  1. Why golfers keep doing the same things wrong — even when results don’t improve
  2. How to recognise what actually needs to change in your game
  3. The difference between information and real learning
  4. How coaches and golfers can create clearer, more effective practice
  5. Why sustainable improvement requires mindset change, not just swing change

🗣 Guest Bio – Neil Mathews

Neil Mathews is the Head of Coaching at Wales Golf, responsible for supporting player development pathways and coach education across the country. With extensive experience working with elite amateurs, juniors, and coaches, Neil is passionate about helping golfers learn how to adapt, improve, and enjoy the game more fully.
