| Self-Like Parts & IFS with Mel Galbraith of IFSCA | 24 Mar 2025 | 00:49:55 | |
In this episode, I’m joined again by Mel Galbraith of IFSCA, a seasoned IFS therapist and teacher, to dive into what it means to be self-led in the therapy room. We talk about the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways our therapist parts show up during sessions, and how being human—and having parts—doesn’t make us bad therapists. In fact, when we tend to those parts with care, we actually expand our ability to hold space for clients. We explore how therapist agendas can interrupt attunement, why love and curiosity are key to working with any system, and how the work we do on ourselves is just as important as what we do with clients. If you’re a practitioner trying to deepen your self-leadership and your IFS skills, this one’s for you. 🌿 Key takeaways:

| Non-Duality and IFS with Dr. Laura Patryas | 23 Sep 2024 | 00:54:53 | |
In this episode of Going Inside: Healing Trauma From the Inside Out, I’m joined by Dr. Laura Patryas, an expert in the intersection of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and non-duality. Together, we explore how these two approaches can deepen our understanding of healing from the inside out. Below are the 8 F’s of Dr. Laura's Nondual IFS: 1. Feel—Tune into the bodily felt sense of your inner parts, energies, thoughts and emotions with tenderness. Naming them can help. Stay here as long as feels natural. 2. Feel-through—Inquire "Am I this part, thought, emotion, sensation?" Sense the presence that remains when each part is felt-through deeply. This helps uncover your true Self. 3. Field—Open to all parts from the spacious field of Self's awareness that underlies all experiences, thoughts, and sensations. 4. Friend—With unconditional friendship, attune to and embrace even extreme parts, listening to their stories and core beliefs. 5. Flow—Sense the Self harmonizing and flowing with different energies, allowing the paradox of individuality and oneness. 6. Fluid—Notice the fluid boundaries and lack of separation between Self and parts, inner and outer. 7. Freedom—As integration unfolds, feel the freedom of open, peaceful flow within the universal field. 8. Fulfilment/Fullness—Experience the richness of this present moment without craving any other state

Thoughts on Other Therapeutic Models - We reflect on the damage caused by certain therapeutic models, especially those emphasizing therapist authority and disempowering clients. It’s important to question the roots of these models, including IFS, and maintain humility in their application. 3. Humility as Therapists - It’s important to have humility in therapy, recognizing that while we have tools and knowledge as therapists, there is still much we don’t know.
