This week on the podcast, we’re remembering Harris Yulin, recapping Ghostbusters Day 2025, and talking about a GBFans thread asking if Ghostbusters has gone into dormancy once again. First up, Troy and Chris pay a little tribute to Ghostbusters II’s Judge Stephen “The Hammer” Wexler, played by the incredible character actor Harris Yulin, who passed last week at the age of 87. Then in somewhat of a news segment, the boys recap all the things that were revealed at Ghostbusters Day 2025 including Jason Reitman, McKenna Grace, and Carrie Coon showing up to meet and greet the fans, glowing Hasbro offerings, Crocs, and the Ghostbusters Give Back initiative, a great way for fan franchises to see their good deeds marked by the official Ghost Corps headquarters. Then, in the second half of the show, we ask each other a question that seems to be taxing our favorite message board haunt: has Ghostbusters gone dormant again? And do kids these days even know what dormancy of an IP is? Yeah, we’re old. That comes up too. But doesn’t it always?

Happy Ghostbusters Day, everyone! Troy and Chris are back for a special surprise episode drop this week to catch up on all the things they haven’t chatted about the past few months including: their favorite Ghostbusters Day memories, Dark Horse Comics’ Dead Man’s Chest issue #1, The Real Ghostbusters: A Visual History coming in July (and written by one of your humble co-hosts), developments on the Netflix animated series and a whole lot more! Did you pre-order Real Ghostbusters retro figures only to receive the international carded versions? You’re not alone. This week on the show, we’re talking about the strange progression of events behind Wal-Mart’s pre-order, and the resulting products that fans have been receiving. The good news is that the figures are outstanding, and a real blast from the past. The bad news is that the patient people who have stuck with their pre-order have received the multi-lingual carded versions, which aren’t exactly what they expected. As a Belushi brother once said in a cinematic classic, “That's the multilingual version. It's fun AND educational.“ Also this week, we’re discussing Dan Aykroyd’s comments to Entertainment Weekly on Ghostbusters Afterlife and the doors it leaves open, and reactions to Cleanin’ Up the Town now streaming on Crackle!

“Reunited Apart” brought the original Ghostbusters cast and director together and it sure lived up to the expectations. On this week’s show, Troy and Chris discuss their favorite moments, some of the behind the scenes reveals that they weren’t aware of (including a little expansion on Bill Murray’s comments of seeing part of the film during Thanksgiving dinner at Ivan Reitman’s house). All that, plus some of your thoughts via social media on the event!

In celebration of the film’s release in North America on Crackle and on Blu-ray in the UK this week, we have a special bonus interview with Anthony and Claire Bueno, the documentary filmmakers behind “Cleanin’ Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters.” From things that arose in post production to finishing their labor of love amid a pandemic, plus a few updates on the upcoming releases, Chris got the scoop. We’re joined this week by Doug Banks, the creator/writer/game master of Ghostbusters Resurrection, the audio podcast that lets you listen in on a Ghostbusters RPG campaign! Doug talks with the boys about how the podcast version of his games came to be, how much work goes into each and every show, how he modified the game mechanics for new gear and new scenarios, and you can get started in the role playing game yourself!

It’s certainly a different kind of Ghostbusters Day this year, but we’re completely okay with the marketing hype being postponed until a later date. This week on the show, we’re talking about Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’s score by Dario Marianelli, lack of pop tracks, and then chatting a lot about how the lore and magic of the live-action Ghostbusters world is expanded by this film. First up, Troy and Chris walk through some of their favorite score cues and explore some of the new cues heard in the film. There’s a lot of new avenues explored and great ways of furthering Elmer Bernstein’s original music throughout. Then, the boys talk about Nadeem’s character in the film and what doors he opens moving forward, which then naturally turns to an existential discussion where we talk about what it means to become one with the fabric of the universe. This week on the show, there’s a giant hole in our calendars now where we had saved the date. What should be done by the fans, or by the studio, to fill that date and the time between now and March 2021? From comic book prequels to bringing back the audio drama to act as a bridge between Ghostbusters II and Ghostbusters Afterlife, here are a few of Troy and Chris’ thoughts on what we’d like to see (that’s actually achievable during the Stay at Home orders) on July 10th and beyond.

This week on the show, something a little different: Troy and Chris are going to build up their Ghostbusters Role Playing Game character sheets live and on the air. That’s right, the boys are getting ready to jump back into the world of the West End Games Ghostbusters RPG (what else are we going to do during this quarantine time) and they’re creating their characters with you listening in. Up first, Sony Pictures made the difficult decision to move Ghostbusters Afterlife to release on 3/5/21 due to the ongoing pandemic across the globe, Troy and Chris discuss why that’s a tough break for fans, but ultimately might be beneficial to the film itself. Then in the second half of the show, a spoiler-filled discussion of Ghostbusters Year One Issue #3 by IDW Comics, focusing on the side-story and a little bit of backstory of the great Dr. Peter Venkman.

This week on the show, New York International Toy Fair had lots of surprises and we’ve got an excerpt from Hasbro’s presentation, and in the second half of the show: the imperfections of Ghostbusters! What did we learn about the private lives of these comedians? Did our opinions of them change? What new anecdotes and stories did we learn? Tune in to find out!

This week on the show, we continue our “What If” series with another thought experiment: what if some of the alternative castings mentioned over the years had actually gotten the role? What if John Candy had played Louis Tully? What if Jeff Goldblum had played Egon Spengler? And what if Eddie Murphy had played Winston Zeddemore? All of these and more are explored as Troy and Chris think of reasons the castings may have worked (or, in some instances, why it’s probably better it didn’t).
