| Ep. 316: Evolution of eProductivity | 25 Jun 2025 | 00:41:24 | |
David Allen, Eric Mack, and John Forrister continue their discussion about their software journey, from early years to their current use of the Microsoft 365 suite of tools. If you haven't heard the first part, you may want to watch or listen to that first, but it's not required. In this recording, they talk about the evolution of eProductivity and how much of its functionality is available in the Microsoft tools. Beyond that, it's a wide-ranging discussion of how to think about productivity, and how getting organized is an ongoing process, not a one-time destination. And of course there are some software details, such as how David is tracking Waiting For items. You can watch to the entire conversation from December 2021 at GTD Connect®. This is a webinar with Suzanne Strisik, Ph.D., a psychologist and longtime GTD enthusiast. We'll be looking at dreaded next actions and how they can trigger the same anxiety as the thought of an encounter with a dangerous animal. If you've been confounded by a project or a task that lingers on one of your lists, then this webinar is for you. Suzanne will guide us in understanding the dread in the task and how it relates to something deeply meaningful to us. From there, we'll make a pathway back to the flow of our good work. | Ep. 213: The Someday Maybe List | 28 Jun 2023 | 00:21:04
Dave Edwards had another opportunity to ask David Allen about a variety of GTD topics. They begin with the Someday/Maybe list, and how to leverage that to improve your flow of creative ideas. Dave asks about prioritizing. David says it comes down to trusting your choices, and that's only possible when you have an externalized system for tracking your commitments. David also mentions that implementing GTD requires us to train cognitive muscles in ways that we were not taught in school. After they have officially closed the interview, David shows Dave his new reMarkable paper tablet, so of course we included that as a coda. | Ep. 212: Dave Edwards interviews David Allen | 20 Jun 2023 | 00:21:02
In November 2020 we posted an interview that Dave Edwards did with David Allen. They had more to talk about, so Dave has done this follow-up interview with David. They talk about changes in the work environment in the last year, as more people are working from home. Their discussion also covers how work contexts may have changed, and ways to be productive outside the traditional boundaries of 9-5 and an office with a commute. Dave writes about productivity, leadership, and management issues at DaveEdwardsMedia.com. | Ep. 210: David Allen talks with Andy and Tim Cotterill | 06 Jun 2023 | 00:20:39
David Allen has a fascinating talk with Brandon Hensinger, Founder and CEO of Avrio Genetics. Brandon has started various companies, from rock climbing to pharmaceuticals. He has a passion for taking startups or small companies and growing them fast. Along the way, GTD has been a key to managing the increasing complexity and responsibility in his life. He says most people don't have much of a system to keep themselves organized, other than their email inbox. For his new employees, he recommends that they read Getting Things Done. He also has them start with a list of projects and items they are waiting for. This allows them to have more productive meetings with colleagues, right from the start. His advice for sharing GTD with others? Don't just give advice. Show them. Give them a demonstration. You can find out much more about Brandon on his website. | Ep. 206: David Allen talks with Greg Shepard | 09 May 2023 | 00:21:59
David describes Greg Shepard as a lifelong learner on steroids. When you hear Greg talk about all that he has done, and still plans to do, you'll understand how that description fits. He has a history of taking on a variety of big challenges, because he believes that, "The bigger the problem the better the opportunity." Other people have bought more than one copy of Getting Things Done, but you'll find that Greg had an unusual reason for doing that. One of his current interests is altruistic capitalism, the idea that businesses should have concern for doing good beyond making a profit. You'll be inspired by his dedication to making the world a better place. We did, and found it helpful to us in understanding how we work, what we can do to improve, and more.
