| Automated Investing: Why it works | 17 Jul 2023 | 00:21:02 | |
Our episode today is inspired by James from the UK. He wrote and asked: Why you wouldn’t just invest in an S&P 500 index fund? So today we go over 2 reasons why you would and 1 reason why you wouldn’t... First of all: just what *is* automated investing? Basically, it means you set up a rule with your broker that tells it to invest a consistent amount of money at regular intervals. Generally, it involves investing in a well diversified index fund - could be an S&P 500 index fund or ASX 200 - but ideally a global fund like a Vanguard VDHG or Betashares DHHF. (We've got heaps of resources on our website!) Want to get in touch and suggest and episode like James did? | Bitesize: What to expect when you're expecting (a crash) | 13 Jul 2023 | 00:06:51
This Bitesize comes from one of our most downloaded episodes ever! Picture this: the stock market takes a nosedive, but then, out of nowhere, it springs back up. That's what we call a 'Dead Cat Bounce' - a temporary recovery from a prolonged decline or bear market. But don't be fooled, it's usually followed by the continuation of the downtrend, making it a perfect trap for unsuspecting investors. | 3 Tax Deductions you can make as an investor | 26 Jun 2023 | 00:15:10
EOFY is approaching, and we had a bunch of listeners reach out with questions for this episode! Cathy asked: As a new investor, it would be great to know all the basics for tax time. Well, that'd be a huge episode first of all. So we decided to focus purely on the deductions for now. Importantly we need to stress - we are not tax professionals and we are not aware of your personal financial circumstances. So our first piece of advice is: speaking to a tax professional is tax deductible. So, let's crack in, and look at some of the deductions you can make as an investor. Also, if you're looking at a few cheeky things to buy before the EOFY, can we tempt you with these offers? Number one - the Rask + Equity Mates courses! Take a free course or become part of the highly-rated Value Investor Program, with the Promo Code: EOFY until the end of June.

This week Bryce and Alec go through the 5 Best Savings Accounts they could find (as of time of recording - June 2023) to help you supercharge your savings. The Google Doc Alec was talking about is here. If you want to let Alec or Bryce know what you think of an episode, contact them here.

| Do credit scores matter when you're investing? | 29 May 2023 | 00:15:23 | |
So, we all hear about credit reports - but what exactly are they, and do they make a difference in your investing journey? The guys sit down and discuss what a credit report is, and how it plays a crucial role in helping lenders decide whether to grant credit or loans. There is no single credit score used by lenders or consumers; rather, Australia's three main credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and Illion, each generate their own scores based on the data in an individual's credit report. Both Bryce and Alec check out what their scores are and compare notes about what they discover! If you want to let Alec or Bryce know what you think of an episode, contact them here.
