Publisher's Summary:
In Why We Don't Awaken, Jennifer Schuitemaker treads on sacred ground by digging up the origins of ancient belief systems and ways of controlling our actions and behaviors in the world that are keeping us from experiencing ourselves as who we really are as total spiritual, emotional and physical beings.
Even today, according to most religious and spiritual belief systems, the only way towards enlightenment or a higher purer existence is to renounce the physical world and unplug from the lower, dense, inferior bodies we were born into.
According to Schuitemaker, we are trying to wake up while still rejecting pieces of ourselves. This breaks us up into splintered fragmented pieces. Stuck in a subjective cultural belief system that may be archaic and out of date. Wholeness is integration not fragmentation.

Narrator: Alex Zonn
Format: Unabridged
Length: 26 mins
Language: English
Release date: 10-08-15
Publisher: J.D. Rockefeller
Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Buddhism & Eastern Religions
Publisher's Summary:
You may be disappointed with your own religion. It doesn't seem to be guiding you the way you expect a belief system to do. It's possible that there's a deep-seated resentment or pain that you're experiencing because of the suffering you see around you. This may make you turn toward another belief system: Buddhism.
Western society has often equated Buddhism with peace and calmness. It's associated with practicing meditation for stress relief. It's considered to be a way to find the purpose of your life. Whatever the reason, the fact is that more and more people are exploring Buddhism as a way of life. Maybe there's something about it that tells you, "Yes, this is it...this is what can guide me in the right direction." But Buddhism is not just about letting your mind go blank and controlling your thoughts. It's a philosophy of life that teaches you about how to manage your life and relationships. It teaches compassion and about your oneness with God. In short, there are many parts to Buddhism, and this guide is meant to let you, the beginner, know about all aspects of the religion you can learn and how you can incorporate these into your life.

Sprache: Deutsch
Veröffentlichungsdatum: 07-23-15
Herausgeber: Alexander Janzer

One of the oldest Eastern religions, Buddhism was established in India during the 6th century BCE. Siddhartha Gautama was the founder of Buddhism and is known as the historical Buddha. Although particular convictions and practices change, Buddhism revolves around the possibility that suffering can be relieved by accomplishing enlightenment. It is the end of the interminable cycle of death and rebirth in which every single sentient being is soiled. This audiobook deals with the goals and the fundamentals of Buddhism, forms of Buddhism, ways to become Buddhist, ways to practice mindfulness, meditation, and ways to become a monk.
Buddhism is gaining popularity day by day in western nations for various reasons. The main justifiable reason is Buddhism has answers to a significant number of the issues in current materialistic societies. It likewise incorporates a profound comprehension of the human personality which psychologists around the globe are currently finding to be both extremely progressive and powerful.

This essay is an introduction on the Tao Te Ching exploring the three points of truth, love ,and the interconnectedness of the life. It is written in a modern style using the pop music of Kenny Loggins, Bruce Springsteen, and David Gates to illustrate the points. The purpose of this essay is to serve as a companion to the Tao Te Ching. It is for those who wish to dive deeper into the essence of the Tao while living in the modern world.
It also shows how, after all these years, the Tao is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. It offers an interesting and unique look at one of the most important text of mankind.

Truth - "Truth is within ourselves; it takes no rise from outward things, whatever you may believe. There is an inmost center in us all, where truth abides in fullness."

It allows for an entirely different experience of life than the freedom of journeying alone. Wherever you are, you know you are loved, not only by God, but by a mirror of yourself." - Kenny Loggins

Pandit Rajmani generously reveals little known and little understood aspects of spiritual life, which makes this book a veritable treasure. (Georg Feuerstein, Director, Yoga Research Center, Yoga World)

Publisher's Summary:
The 21st century is a critical time for our environment. Global warming, pollution, deforestation: the problems are large, and it's easy to feel helpless. Yet it's important not to get lost in despair; we can be serious about environmental problems and still be joyful. This ability is crucial not only for dealing with the environment, but also with spiritual practice. The earth's crisis is a physical manifestation of the crisis within us; if we don't see the one, we won't see the other. We can address the crisis within ourselves by awakening to the earth as a living being with a mystical reality, a living being that can show us how to deal with ignorance and delusion. If we let it, the earth will help us heal ourselves, which in turn allows us to heal the earth.
Zen Buddhism emphasizes zazen, or seated meditation, as the means to study the self and understand who we truly are. Dharma talks are an essential aspect of Zen training and take place in the context of zazen. Said to be "dark to the mind and radiant to the heart", a dharma talk is one of the ways in which a teacher points directly to the heart of the teachings of the Buddha. In our meditation practice, it is easy to get lost in self-doubt, fantasy, numbness, and emotional agitation. Dharma talks help to ground our practice, providing inspiration and an essential recognition of exactly where we find ourselves, so that we can learn to face difficulties and obstacles with a free and flexible mind. This talk was given at Zen Mountain Monastery or the Zen Center of New York City of the Mountains and Rivers Order of Zen Buddhism, founded in 1980 by the late American Zen Master John Daido Loori, Roshi (1931-2009).

Riepilogo Editore:

Publisher's Summary:
What does it mean to start fresh? If we want to make a new start, the first step is to open our eyes and see what we have created with our actions, speech, and thoughts. We need to take responsibility for what we have created with our lives, then we can let go and truly begin anew. It's helpful to follow this fresh start with a vow, a pledge that will ground us and give us direction. Letting go of the old and setting a direction for the future allows to go forward with joy, hope, and determination.

What is the love between teacher and student? It may not always conform to our expectations. Shugen Sensei explores the student-teacher relationship by discussing a koan unusual for using the word love, whereas in Zen we more commonly speak of compassion - though they are ultimately the same thing.
