| Demystifying Airline Alliances with Chris Hassan | Ep 139 | 25 Jun 2023 | 00:40:41 | |
(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure) Hey there, points people! Today, I’m talking with Chris Hassan of (@chrisdhassan), a Family travel writer from Upgraded Points (@upgradedpoints), about using airline partnerships to get the best points deals on flights. We dive deep into using Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, and Turkish Airlines miles to book domestic flights in the US and international business class on various airlines. Chris worked in hotels and the hospitality industry for years before switching to the other side of the front desk and sharing travel tips and tricks. He is from Boston but now lives in Rio de Janeiro with his wife and 2 kids, so traveling back and forth between Brazil and the U.S. with his family is a common commute for him and his family. Besides visiting family, Chris makes sure that showing his kids new parts of the world is part of their education and uses points and miles to get them there. His kids have been on hundreds of flights including economy, business, and international first class and he is a firm believer that kids belong up front! The best way to get access to a variety of airline miles is to use a card that earns transferable points. One option is the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, which transfers to all of the airlines I just mentioned! If you're thinking of applying for the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or any other card, don't apply directly through Google – use a friend's referral link! P.S. this episode is #notsponsored and I don’t have a referral link or anything for you if you decide to buy a trip protection plan from Faye. We just made this episode because I get a lot of requests in my DMs asking how much compensation you can get from different travel mishaps like cancelled or delayed flights. Before we jump into the episode, I also have a short segment for you that goes over how to find the trip protections of some of the most popular points and miles credit cards, and what those trip protectiosn cover. If you’d like to follow along on the Geobreeze Travel YouTube channel, you’ll be able to see the visuals of what I’m describing there as well. | Putting Real Money Before Fake Money featuring Katie Caputo | Ep 131 | 30 Apr 2023 | 00:48:27
(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure) Katie Caputo from @themoneymisfit is based in beautiful East TN, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Her philosophy in travel hacking is the same as in finance: the journey is always personal and you'll be most successful if you step OUT of the box! After taking on massive student debt in her 20's, Katie resigned herself to a life without travel, something she thought was a luxury she would never be able to afford. Thankfully, learning to use points and miles showed her that not only can she travel the world *while* paying off debt, but that travel hacking is a powerful financial tool that, when used responsibly, can skyrocket your financial health. In this episode, Katie and I discuss putting real money before the lovely “fake” money that is points and miles, and not letting the joys of getting to travel for next to no cost put the cart before the horse. We also discuss a lot of the different mental gymnastics that points people often put themselves through to justify money moves that might not always be in their best interests. If you’re just getting started with points and miles, this is especially important to keep in mind. Additionally, if you’re new to the game, one of the most popular credit cards for beginners is the Chase Sapphire Preferred which lets you convert points from many cashback only cards like the Chase Freedom Flex or Chase Freedom Unlimited intro travel points, which makes them go a lot further. Remember, if you decide to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred or any other card, never apply directly through Google – always use a friend or creator’s referral link. | Planning an Around the World Trip with Roshan and Michelle | Ep 120 | 12 Feb 2023 | 00:40:40
(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure) Michelle and Roshan from @honeymooonhackers are newlyweds who just went on their round the world honeymoon this summer and are now helping others plan their dream honeymoon on points. Roshan learned about the points and miles world in 2018 and Michelle got on board this year after experiencing their RTW honeymoon. In this episode, we go over their incredible 44-day honeymoon and how you can structure a similar trip by transferring American Express points to ANA. If you’re looking to get started with American Express points, I’d recommend starting with the Amex Gold card rather than the Amex Platinum. | Planning Ski Trips on Points with Mary Graves | Ep 115 | 08 Jan 2023 | 00:55:59
(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure) Mary Graves from @mary3graves retired after 33 years in pharmaceutical sales - she’s now an empty nester with a big bucket list, and her children make me fearless! They go on tons of adventures each year, with many of them in the mountains to ski! In this episode, Mary has prepared basically an entire masterclass for us about how to set up a ski vacation strategy around points and miles, complete with slides! If you’re listening on your usual podcast platform, we’ll describe what we’re seeing for you, but if you would like to see the presentation and all of the visuals, we will have this episode and all future episodes featuring video for your on YouTube! If you’re looking to do some ski trips, check out the Capital One Venture X. The Capital One points make it easy to erase purchases like ski passes, and many of the resorts we discuss today are Wyndham properties, which you can book using Capital One miles!
