Fulham gave themselves a lesson in self-flagellation against West Ham, handing a depleted Irons side two goals on a plate as the Whites fell to a first defeat in 10 games in slightly ridiculous fashion. We take a look back at the events in Stratford, examining just where things went so badly wrong for Fulham - including thoughts on individual mistakes, collective headlosses, and a lack of ability to finish or chances. We also discuss the balance of the midfield trio, and how that might be addressed going forward; before moving on the conversation to this weekend's game up in Leicester - where Fulham now have a must win fixture to deal with ahead of Manchester United coming to the Cottage. And we finish with a few of your emails to round things off. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Fulham Women: Bridging the Gap13 janv. 202500:42:03
Claire, Jack and Yasmin join Sammy on today's pod to react to the Fulham Womens team's heavy but honourable defeat to the London City Lionesses in the FA Cup. Fulham Women were the lowest ranked side still left in the competition and coming up against a team flying in the Women's Championship was always going to be a tough ask. After a valiant first 25 minutes of soaking up pressure, Fulham conceded to an impressive Boye-Hlorkah hat-trick that seemed to punish the smallest of errors. An Asllani penalty and a composed finish from Goodwin, saw the London City Lionesses secure a position in the next round of the competition. But Fulham Women can be proud of their progress and return to their aim of progressing out of the fifth tier of the football league. We review the highlights of Sunday's midday match and discuss the wider context of the womens' game, looking over how greater investment in the side could bridge the gap between Fulham's and other Premier League womens sides. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Giving Wat Four10 janv. 202501:09:13
Well, it's nice to be comfortable - and Fulham were for the vast majority of Thursday night, where Watford were brushed aside in the FA Cup with relative ease, even with a much changed squad from Marco Silva. We examine the performance, as well as the weirdly subdued atmosphere at the Cottage during this game; and revel in our Magic Mexican's comfort from the spot and a some homegrown joy to boot. Then we move onwards to preview our game against West Ham on Tuesday night in Stratford, facing opposition who will be under new manager Graham Potter for just the second time. There's a little examination of Marco's excellent record against the former Brighton & Chelsea manager, as well as some thoughts on how Fulham should best set up at the London Stadium and who should keep their place from the Watford game. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Leif It Out!06 janv. 202501:00:43
Another draw against a team in the relegation zone... but thankfully, this one's not short of talking points. George is joined by Yasmin, Fred, and Elizabeth to look back at a game full of big moments and controversy. We start by discussing Silva's team selection, as he stuck with the five-at-the-back formation that saw us beat Chelsea at the Bridge less than a fortnight ago, and talk through performances across the park, from Calvin Bassey to Emile Smith-Rowe. Then, unfortunately, we've got to talk about the referee - Darren Bond - whose performance as a Premier League official left a lot to be desired. Then we take a bunch of listener questions, including about our ineptitude at creating chances from corners and the 'pink shirt curse' at the Cottage. Thursday Club: Tractors on Thames02 janv. 202501:01:25
Sammy and Jack reconvene for the first time in 2025 as Fulham look forward to another year of thrills, spills and everything in between. We start with a final word on the two games over the festive period - the win over Chelsea and the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, analysing some of the key decisions that went for and against the Whites, before moving things on to our first game of the New Year, which comes against Ipswich at the Cottage this weekend.  The Tractor Boys have fought their corner hard in the Premier League, against massive odds, and picked up their first home win of the campaign against Chelsea on Monday, so will be brimming with confidence as they come to the Cottage - especially given they had the better of our draw against them earlier in the season, so there's plenty to be wary of against Kieran McKenna's men. Can Fulham make a winning start to the New Year and give off a statement of intent in the hunt for European football? -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Two Points Diopped30 déc. 202401:13:10
After the high of boxing day, it was always going to be tricky to get excited about a home match against Bournemouth, but on Sunday both sets of supporters were treated to an entertaining match between two high quality sides. Fulham will certainly feel aggrieved after a late equaliser and two contentious decisions not going our way, but in the end, a point was probably a fair result. Sammy, Avais and Ivan review the match before getting into all sorts of topics from how to announce VAR decisions to the team's top three memories from 2024. Happy New Year to you and let's hope 2025 is just as good a year for the Fulham. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: A White Christmas27 déc. 202401:07:38
45 years of hurt, ended in one smooth roll of Rodrigo Muniz's left foot. Fulham have finally ended the Hoodoo at Stamford Bridge, by coming out victorious in a Brilliant Boxing Day Battle that ended 2-1 to the Whites. We take a look back at the glory of what went down in those final 15 minutes at the old dog track, analyse the performance, the tactics, the shift put in by every player to a man, and the way Fulham turned the screw on their hosts in the second half.  This weekend, Bournemouth visit the Cottage for our final game of 2024 and we examine whether we can carry the emotional high of Thursday into our game against the high-flying Cherries, as well as any possible injury-returnees, before we wrap things up. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Well that was dull... Elizabeth takes the reins for reaction following a humbling point at home to Southampton. Fulham's unbeaten run in December had promised fans a calming and festive ride into the Christmas week but unfortunately, Father Christmas decided to deliver a nice big sack of coal. However, an uninspiring game does not faze our guests, Izzy Barker, Dan Cooke and Jack Kelly.  Despite the lack of goals, they find plenty to discuss from Sunday afternoon. They take a look back at Silva's surprising line-up that featured Josh King and Tom Cairney, review Muniz's disappointing attempt to revive his purple patch from last season and try to decipher exactly what to do with a looming injury crisis. In part two, they answer your listeners' questions and finally, to try to rescue any remnants of festive spirit, Elizabeth rounds off the podcast with a musical treat from resident DJ, Sam Witcher. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Rusk and Roulette19 déc. 202401:18:26
The Thursday Club is back in studio for the final word on our 2-2 draw with Premier League leaders Liverpool, where Fulham would have snapped your hand off for a point before the game, but came away somewhat disappointed with not taking all three in the end. We chat about the tactics Silva used, the influence of Antonee Robinson, and Andreas Pereira's return to the team - as well as the amount of points that Fulham have dropped from winning positions this season.  Then it's on to the weekend ahead, where the Whites host bottom-of-the-pile Southampton at Craven Cottage. You'd think, given the performances against top sides of late, that this would be a guaranteed win - but this is famously Fulham we're talking about, and Southampton are a bit of a wildcard in that they'll have a new manager at the helm following the sacking of Russell Martin after their dismantling at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.  We finish with some of your questions, including some on peroxide-blonde hair affecting performances, Emile Smith-Rowe's performances across this season so far, home fans in the away end at Liverpool and what the club could do to stop it, and loads more! -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Kops and Robbers16 déc. 202400:54:16
And... breathe. On Saturday, Fulham treated us to a rip-roaring game at Anfield as we took on the league leaders. George, Farrell, Jack K, and Jack S are here to look back on the game that had it all - and ask how we're meant to feel about it. With Liverpool down to ten for most of the game, did we capitalise enough on our man advantage? Should we be increasingly concerned about how many goals we're conceding at the start of second halves? We've dropped seventeen points from winning positions this season - is this a worrying trend? Or... is this a positive point in a tough place to go, that sees us on the edge of the European places? Then it's time for a bunch of your questions. We applaud the Player of the Match performance from Antonee Robinson, and ask whether there is anyone better than him right now, and there are plaudits for our whole back line. We also discuss the midfield selection from Marco. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Testing Title Tusslers12 déc. 202401:02:53
Peter Rutzler returns to the Thursday Club, fresh from his move from The Athletic to The Times, to talk all things Fulham with us. We start with a last look back at the hard-fought point that the Whites earned against Arsenal on Sunday, including a deep dive on the formation shift that served Fulham well in nullifying Arsenal's dangerous right hand side, and some love for the new midfield shield of Sander and Sasa.  Then it's onto Liverpool, who we face on Saturday, and who slightly underwhelmed in their Champions League outing against Girona in midweek. We chat about the ways Fulham might set up to similarly nullify top-class opponents, try to find some weaknesses in the Reds' seemingly inpenetrable armour, and ponder whether a game like this might call for Emile Smith-Rowe to be rested in favour of a more dynamic No. 10.  We finish with a little look ahead to the Transfer Window, with Peter giving his thoughts on where (if anywhere) Fulham might look to strengthen in January. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. It is so satisfying to see those red tears on Arsenal's faces after a wet and stormy afternoon at the Cottage. Despite referee Chris Kavanagh's best efforts, Jimenez's first-half goal granted Fulham a well-earned point against the Gunners. One well-drilled side met another with Fulham holding the set-piece masters at bay. On the pod, we look back at the stellar performances from across the pitch - how long do you have for us to recap them all? We analyse how Fulham managed to frustrate Arsenal's forward play, reflect on the glory of that late, disallowed goal and pour out our gripes against Chris Kavanagh's refereeing performance. In part two, George picks some listener questions and, to round-up, we each pick a player of Fulham vintage that we would most like to see brought back for the 2024-25 squad. Thursday Club: Iwobi Wonder Kenobi06 déc. 202401:02:16
What is it about Brighton in the Premier League? Good or bad, rain or shine, the Seagulls just can't seem to conjure a win against Fulham - with Thursday's 3-1 victory the latest in a run of nine undefeated in the top flight against Micky Adams' other side. We're not complaining anyway. The newly named 'Friday Club' of Sammy and Jack take a look back at the game and how it panned out, as well as diving into some impressive individual performances and some interesting comments from Marco Silva in the presser afterwards. The games keep coming thick and fast at the moment, and Sunday sees Arsenal visit the Cottage. Fulhamish meets Spursy 02 déc. 202400:56:14
That was fun, wasn't it? George, Ben, and Avais look back at a game full of talking points away at Tottenham Hotspur, in which Tom Cairney scored a beauty and then got sent off. They discuss whether we were better than Spurs across the pitch and whether we could have taken more from the game, and examine Andreas Pereira's exclusion from the squad. Thursday Club: Fulham head North28 nov. 202401:16:32
Fulham's excellent form came crashing to a halt at the weekend, with Wolves running out deserved winners at the Cottage. We take a final look back at Saturday's slump, before turning our attentions to this weekend's game against Spurs in North London. Our opponents had a big win last week, beating Champions Manchester City 4-0 on their own patch, which we all agree is exactly what we want to happen, because of two terms in the shared footballing lexicon with similar vibes - 'Spursy' and 'Fulhamish.' There's a breakdown of how we think Marco Silva's side should set up to try and best our hosts, who have been brilliant and exasperating in equal measure this season, and take a look too at the 'Away Shirt Curse' that has been haunting Fulham for over a full season now. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Beware Broken Wolves21 nov. 202401:15:20
The end of the international break is nigh and Fulham return to the Cottage this weekend to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have struggled for form this season but who did pick up their first win before the break against Southampton. We take a look at Gary O'Neil's charges and examine where this game will be won and lost, as well as some of the injuries and system changes that have shaped Wolves' season.  Before that though, there's a look back at the International Whites who were in action - Harry Wilson with another scorcher for Wales as his good form continues, Raul Jimenez's impressive leadership as he helped steer Mexico out of tricky waters, single-game showings for Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Joachim Andersen, an impressive change of role for Antonee Robinson, Timothy Castagne captaining Belgium, and two assists for Sander Berge for Norway.  And there's also time for a little discussion of how Sasa Lukic fits back into this Fulham midfield when he returns from his injury, as well as a couple of your emails to round things off. Aaaaand....breathe. After an absolutely chaotic week in which Fulham picked up six points from two London derbies to go 7th in the Premier League table, we hit a momentum-stalling international break - but one that allows us to take a little bit of stock of where Fulham are and what our expectations can be going into the rest of the season.  Sammy and Jack walk through a final word on our performance at Selhurst Park, before examining the current state of the Premier League table and where Fulham's priorities should lie for the rest of the season, as well as touching quickly on some of the boys going off on international duty.  Then it's into a stack of emails, which include questions about set pieces, Fulham fans in South Carolina, on-terrace chants, and whether safety from relegation has already been secured (no), before we turn our attention to a couple of This'll Catch On entries, which are all quite spectacular in very different ways. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Eagles in Sight07 nov. 202401:07:21
Another match week, another London Derby, as we look ahead to Saturday's visit to Selhurst Park where Fulham will come up against a slightly faltering Crystal Palace side - something we wouldn't have expected after their showing at the Cottage late last season.  Before that though, we've unsurprisingly got a few more things to say about Monday's dramatic derby day win over Brentford, where Harry Wilson came up with his own late, late show to give Fulham a well-deserved three points. We question Thomas Frank's very bizarre tactics, as well as picking out some of the quirks of what was a strange, but still positive, performance from Marco Silva's men.  And to wrap things up there's a few emails to get through, before we're joined by the Walking Almanac of Fulham, Harry Healy, who has been going viral on social media. Thursday Club: Monday Night Lights31 oct. 202401:11:33
Sammy and Jack are back in business in the studio, and there's plenty to sink our teeth into. We take a last look back at the frustrating draw with Everton and consider whether it's a lack of concentration or our inability to kill games off that is hurting Fulham the most right now.  Then, we move things along to this weekend, where there's the small matter of a West London Derby against Brentford, under the lights at the Cottage on Monday night, for us to get excited and nervous about in equal measure. The Bees have had a strange season - unbeaten at home, losing every game away - and this feels like a pivotal moment in the campaign for both sides, as well as the local bragging rights being in the balance.  There's some chat about the history of this fixture, debunking a myth about the Playoff final, some discussion of why it's a good thing to have a two-way rivalry, and our thoughts on how the game might pan out, before we finish with some questions. We meet Fulham's foremost fan in Fiji, Jack launches another passionate defence of Andreas Pereira, and we finish with a discussion about some of the most divisive players to have worn the White shirt in recent times. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Toffee's Late Tale28 oct. 202400:54:43
We unpack Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Everton—a match that looked won until the very last moments. A 94th-minute equaliser from Beto that left the travelling FFC feeling deflated. We dissect the factors that led to that gut-wrenching finish including Marco Silva’s substitutions and whether hindered Fulham’s control over the game. We’ll also discuss Fulham’s lack of clinical edge in front of goal, a recurring theme that cost them precious points once again. We also highlight the impressive display from Fulham's midfield, whose strong performance kept the team competitive throughout. We'll also talk about Emile Smith Rowe's dazzling run that set up Alex Iwobi’s goal and whether we should be aiming to sign a striker in January. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Sammy and Elizabeth reconvene to cast one last glance back to Fulham's 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa at the Cottage which saw the Whites pick up an unwanted hat-trick for the first time in Premier League history - missing a penalty, having a man sent off, and scoring an own goal, before turning their attention to the weekend's trip to Goodison Park - probably our last trip to the famous old ground to play Everton.  Then in Part Two, it's time for the best part of Saturday's live show at the Half Moon Putney - the This'll Catch On special which always lights up the room with some of the best tunes sent into the podcast since the start of the season, vetted live by the brilliant folks who packed out the room. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. A Villainous Penalty21 oct. 202400:45:53
Our unbeaten home record was never going to go on forever... right? We've live from the Half Moon Putney reviewing a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa, a game which was not short of talking points. In part one, we make sense of the game that had it all: red cards, a missed penalty, goals, and a total lack of midfield control from Fulham. Thursday Club: International Villan Suite17 oct. 202401:04:04
The international break is over, and it was a pretty wild one for Fulham players - Harry Wilson shining for Wales, Raúl's resurgence for Mexico, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey getting stuck in an airport, Andreas's exceptional scissor kick for Brazil, Sasa's sad injury blow, ups and downs for Sander Berge, and a delicious assist for Timmy Castagne. It's never quiet round SW6. We look back at all that, before moving ahead with a discussion of Aston Villa's visit to the Cottage on Saturday, which will prove another tricky test against a Champions League calibre side, and then we round things off with a few questions, a look at the changes to the fixture schedule (and the parking situation at the Cottage), as well as a little quiz where Sammy tests Jack and Yasmin on the pricing for the new hospitality options in the Riverside stand. -- SHOW LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Top Six Tussle03 oct. 202401:10:03
The Thursday Club is back to analyse what's going on with Fulham, as the club sit prettily in the Top Six after six games in the Premier League. Alright, it's early, but we're gonna take these whilst we can. Peter Rutzler joins Sammy and Jack to examine whether we think Fulham have actually firmly hit their stride yet, and have a final look at an ugly, but impressive win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.  Then it's onwards to the weekend, and it's nothing major - only a trip to Manchester to face Champions Manchester City at the Etihad - a team that Fulham have lost to 16 times in a row. Could this be the moment, with Kevin de Bruyne and Rodri injured - that Fulham end our Cityzen nightmare? Maybe, but probably not.  We finish with a couple of your emails, and an incredible This'll Catch On entry for Reiss Nelson from one of our favourite ever contributors. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Beating Newcastle at the weekend tipped Fulham's start to this season from decent to very good, and on the Thursday Club we wanted to dig into what we've seen so far in a bit more detail. Jack is joined by Henry Hill, broadcaster and journalist at FootballJOE, and an ardent Fulham fan, to dissect what we've seen from Marco Silva's side at the start of this new campaign.  That gives us a platform as well to answer a multitude of your questions - in regards to the role of Andreas Pereira, whether Fulham still need to dip into the market for another striker in January, what skipper Tom Cairney's position within the squad is at this point, the form of Adama Traore, how the midfield balance will work, and a whole lot more.  We finish with a look ahead to this weekend's trip to Nottingham Forest - where we have some pretty brutal memories from last season, as well as a little discussion on the FA Cup vs the Carabao Cup and the most Fulhamish moments we can remember from the past few years. Thursday Club: PNE (Penalties Never End)19 sept. 202401:15:31
Well, that's a record anyway - the longest penalty shootout in English domestic football history, and of course Fulham ended up on the wrong side of it. After a frustrating 90 minutes of action against Preston North End at Deepdale, Fulham's heavily rotated XI weren't able to find a winner, and thus ensued one of the most typical stories you could imagine.  We take a look back at the game as a whole, examining the performances of a number of players for better and for worse - Ryan Sessegnon, Reiss Nelson, Rodrigo Muniz, Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, Sander Berge, Issa Diop, Jorge Cuenca and Steven Benda - before touching on the penalty shootout that dominated the headlines this morning for good measure.  Then we head onwards to Newcastle at the Cottage this weekend - traditionally a game we always struggle in - and take a look at what changes Marco could make, and how we can win the individual battles against a Magpies side that haven't been playing brilliantly, but keep finding results nonetheless. There's a quick email to address leadership in this group, before we finish with a special This'll Catch On written specifically about the Drama at Deepdale last night. The discussion on this podcast should have been one only of positivity - as Fulham on Saturday were by far the better team against Julen Lopetegui's West Ham, but instead there was an air of frustration after a late lapse in concentration allowed Danny Ings to score a 94th minute equaliser. Fulham are through to Round 3 of the Carabao Cup, where it's been revealed that a trip to Deepdale awaits Marco Silva's Whites. Goals from Raul Jimenez and Jay Stansfield, who struck against the club he was on loan at last season, saw Fulham into the hat for the next round; but the performance left some things to be desired.  We also briefly look at Fulham's win over Leicester in the Premier League at the weekend, before looking onwards to Saturday's trip to Portman Road. Whilst it's a game we can't wait for in terms of fan experience, it's also a potentially tricky game - as it's the Tractor Boys first real winnable fixture of the season, and they'll be bang up for it in Suffolk.  Finally, we take a look through your emails, discussing some of our West London rivals, a potential new signing in Ernest Nuamah from Lyon, and some other bits and bobs, before we wrap things up. The first win of the season is always a sweet one, especially when it comes from the first home outing. Craven Cottage was alive with optimism on Saturday, after goals from new signing Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi got us over the line against the Foxes. This, paired with a "feel good factor" around the club, a brilliant manager, and exciting new signings yet to be fully bedded in, and there are many reasons to be cheerful this week. Thursday Club: We Dreamed of Ream08 août 202401:19:00
"We dreamed of Ream, oh what a guy..." It's a sad day in SW6 as the club parts ways with our very own Captain America, the Cottage Colossus of Tim Ream, whose move to Charlotte was confirmed on Wednesday. There's a little bit of time to pay our tributes to a man who has served Fulham Football Club with distinction over the past nine years, as well as a moment to relive one of the best ever This'll Catch On's in his honour. Before we get to that emotional farewell though, there's a bit of pre-season to discuss too, so Jack and Sammy are joined by Jack Kelly, who has been covering the games in the Algarve, to get his thoughts on the camp as a whole, the two performances against Sevilla and Benfica, and where Fulham are in our preparations for the season beginning in 8 (!!!) days. There's also some transfer talk, including the latest on the André saga, with news coming out of Brazil that Fluminense's willingness to put their star midfielder on the market is growing again, as well as some thoughts on where the squad needs augmenting before the window closes at the end of August. -- 00:00 - Pre-season discussion 14:43 - ESR's best role 36:02 - New away kit 40:38 - Farewell Tim Ream 54:08 - Listener questions -- If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Thursday Club: Homecomings & Hope01 août 202401:06:06
A week ago we were bemoaning a lack of any activity whatsoever, and now the Fulham transfer machine is whirring into business. At the end of last week the Whites announced out of nowhere that Ryan Sessegnon was returning to the place that made him on a free transfer, sparking jubilation and nostalgia in equal measure. And earlier this week, it was made pretty clear that Emile Smith-Rowe will be joining the club in the next few days as well - two players once touted as world beaters, still young and with a point to prove, combining at the Cottage next year. We break down the ins-and-outs of those two deals, and how we see both players fitting into this Marco Silva side, as well as examining where else the squad needs additions, looking at the latest rumours doing the rounds on potential incomings, and discussing the way that transfers now have to operate in the age of PSR. There's also the live draw for our competition which has raised over £650 for the Fulham Foundation, where one lucky listener is the newly proud owner of a shirt signed by the entire Fulham squad! -- 00:00 - Pre-season begins privately 04:35 - The Boy Wonder comes home 14:44 - Smith-Rowe all but arrived 30:02 - Is the squad now attack-heavy? 38:12 - McTominay and Andre latest -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs.
