| SCIENCE: The astronauts of Apollo 11 | 14 Jul 2019 | 00:29:15 | |
This week on science I continue the month-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. The three astronauts that were a part of that historic mission, Michale Collins, Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin, are all known in the annals of history. But there are some things that are not as widely known about the men that went to the moon, and I wanted to highlight each of them on this week's show, and I learned a lot. Like how Michael Collins created the iconic mission logo, or how Neil applied to be an astronaut almost too late, or how Buzz wrote in his doctoral thesis as a student that he wished he could join the astronauts one day.

| SCIENCE: The oldest Pictish fort | 30 Jun 2019 | 00:14:16 | |
This week on science the oldest Pictish fort has been found in Scotland. The Picts were around in the late iron age and early medieval period, and have left behind Pictish Stones as some of the earliest and best-preserved markers of their existence. The oldest of those stones we have found date back to the 6th century, but this new site is even older and could shed new light on life in eastern Scotland during that time. Then, two new exoplanets have been discovered in the habitable zone surrounding a red dwarf only 12 light years away. Not only could these planets support water, but they also could possibly be breeding grounds for extraterrestrial life in the universe.

| SCIENCE: The rings of Saturn | 23 Jun 2019 | 00:18:27 | |
Scientists have been pouring over the data from the Cassini mission and have drawn some new conclusions about Saturn's rings. Details about the tiny moons in the rings are showing that they actually help shape the rings themselves, and the rings have definitive textures that do not overlap, leading to even more questions about they form. These new insights and more on this episode help to frame questions about how our own solar system was formed as well, as more data is analyzed from Cassini. Also, NASA is getting ready for the next Falcon Heavy launch, which will be bringing a lot more scientific experiments into space. One of these is the new Green Fuel developed by NASA to hopefully replace the toxic rocket fuel used today.
| Chad Rubin - Skubana | 20 Jun 2019 | 00:30:42 | |
Chad Rubin did not want to be an entrepreneur and did not want to be in the vacuum industry. Well, he successfully failed at both of those. Joining his parents' vacuum store in 2007, Chad saw the potential of online marketing and sales and decided to help move the business to e-commerce. But, as the business eventually took off, it became increasingly harder to fulfill all the orders, keep track of all the logistics, and properly scale the growth of his company. Seeing as there was no clear solution out there, Chad decided to create one. Skubana was born out of necessity, but now is a powerhouse that helps companies grow to their full potential with the tools they need. This is Chad's story, and his inspiration to keep fueling his passion. Check out more including the transcript at www.deathwishcoffee.com/chadrubin

| SCIENCE: 2300-year-old ancient bark shield | 02 Jun 2019 | 00:16:24 | |
This week in science, I first get to talk about an exciting archeological discovery. In 2015, a shield made of bark was found in an Iron Age site near Edenbry Leicestershire England. This incredible find is the first of its kind because bark and wood do not really survive through the ages. Also, bark is known to be used for bowls and containers by early people, but it wasn't thought of to be used for instruments of war. This 2300-year-old shield is not only surprisingly intact but also shows signs of battle. The bonus topic this week is news about the Mars 2020 rover. The capsule and the rover itself are going through final testing in preparation to launch to the red planet in July of 2020 and will touch down in February of 2021. You can add your name to the rover before it launches to Mars with details in this episode.

| SCIENCE: Marsquakes | 05 May 2019 | 00:16:00 | |
On this week's Science episode from Fueled By Death Cast, the first recorded details of marsquakes are sent back from the InSight lander. With haunting audio, this proves that the red planet is still active with these quakes and will help us peer deeper into the interior as we find more. Then, modern chemistry is based on facts and some theories that have never been proven until now. Early after the Big Bang that started the universe, there had to have been the first ever molecule formed from the first atoms of hydrogen and helium. This molecule had never been found in space, and all of that has changed.

| SCIENCE: Woolly Mammoth mummies | 24 Mar 2019 | 00:13:08 | |
On this week's science segment, Jeff first talks about water moving around on The Moon. New findings suggest that water molecules actually build up on the dayside of the Moon, which is surprising to scientists. Back on Earth, scientists have reanimated the cells from a wooly mammoth, but only for a second. Using techniques right out of science fiction, a team of researches injected the cells from a frozen woolly mammoth into cells of a mouse, and 'awakened' them. Does this mean Jurassic Park will become real, and dinosaurs will walk the Earth once again? Along with new science experiments and robotic rovers being deployed to the Moon, everything will be used as a field test to inevitably send a human presence to Mars by 2030. This is all exciting and groundbreaking for humanity, but we need to think about revising the laws that govern space as well. Dr. Michio Kaku chimes in on this idea from a clip from episode 63 of Fueled By Death Cast.
