Podcast Marketing Strategies for Your Summer Break26 mai 202600:07:25

Taking a seasonal break from your podcast doesn't have to mean losing momentum. In this episode, I'm sharing my favorite podcast marketing strategies to keep your downloads coming in and your business making money all summer long. As a podcast coach for women, I know how important it is to build sustainable podcasting strategies that work even when you're not actively recording, and these four approaches are exactly how I'm doing it. From batching Pinterest pins to podcast guesting, I'm pulling back the curtain on what my summer break actually looks like.

Hi, I'm Andi Smiley, podcast coach for women and host of the Friendly Podcast Guide. I help women podcasters grow their shows without letting their podcast take over their lives, using sustainable podcasting strategies that don't require you to be glued to social media 24/7. I'm sharing exactly what I'll be doing this summer to keep growing my podcast without social media and without burning out.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • Why taking a seasonal podcast break doesn't have to hurt your downloads or income
  • How I use Pinterest as a long-term podcast marketing strategy to keep episodes discoverable all year
  • My plan for batching a full month of Pinterest pins in one sitting to grow a podcast without social media
  • How to grow a podcast audience through strategic podcast guesting during your off-season
  • Being a guest speaker in podcast communities as a visibility strategy for women podcasters
  • Why Threads is my favorite social media platform and how I batch-schedule content in about 20 minutes a week
  • Going back to evergreen content from past seasons to keep creating pins that drive traffic

Key Takeaways

  • Pinterest is one of the most powerful podcast marketing strategies for keeping your episodes getting found, even while you're on a break. Evergreen content means you can keep pinning about old episodes long after they air.
  • Batching your content is a game-changer for sustainable podcasting. Whether it's pins or Threads posts, scheduling out a month at a time gives you serious breathing room and is one of the best podcast tips for women who want a life outside their show.
  • Podcast guesting is one of the smartest ways to grow a podcast in 2026 without creating new episodes. Recording guest appearances during your break means you'll have content ready and new audiences finding you, without the pressure of producing your own show simultaneously.
  • You don't have to be everywhere to grow a podcast without social media. Showing up consistently in a couple of intentional places, like Pinterest and Threads, is enough to keep your audience warm and your business moving.
  • Seasonal breaks are a feature, of a healthy, sustainable podcasting strategy. Planning ahead means you can step away without your podcast skipping a beat.

Podcast Marketing Advice I'd Give My Past Self19 mai 202600:05:45

If I could sit down with my just-starting-out podcast self, this is exactly what I'd tell her. In this solo episode, I'm sharing the four podcast marketing strategies I wish someone had handed me on day one…from building an email list before your first episode drops to ditching Instagram if it just isn't your thing.

Hey, I'm Andi Smiley, podcast coach for women and host of Friendly Podcast Guide. I've been podcasting for nearly five years (wild, right?!) and I'm here to help you grow your podcast audience in a way that actually feels good and fits your real life. I share the podcast tips for women that I wish I'd had from the very beginning.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • Why starting your email list before your first episode is a total game-changer
  • How email marketing has become the most effective way I sell my offers
  • Why Pinterest is one of the best sustainable podcasting strategies for long-term growth
  • The power of showing up at podcast conferences and in-person networking events
  • Why Instagram might not be the right fit for every podcaster
  • How I discovered that Threads and Pinterest work so much better for me

Key Takeaways

  • Start your email list immediately, even if you only have three subscribers when you hit send on that first email. Email marketing is one of the most powerful ways to grow a podcast audience and sell your offers.
  • Get on Pinterest as soon as you have content, Pinterest content has a much longer lifespan than any other social platform, and starting early means more content out there working for you around the clock.
  • Go to podcast conferences and networking events, the connections you make in person are priceless, and they can seriously level up both your podcast and your mindset.
  • Don't just use Instagram because you think you're supposed to, figure out where your people actually are and show up there instead. For me, that's Pinterest and Threads.

Grow Your Podcast with Email & Quizzes with Kylee Chandler12 mai 202600:20:12

If you've been putting off building your email list, this episode is your sign to finally make it happen! I'm sitting down with podcast strategist Kylee Chandler to talk about two of the most powerful (and underused) strategies for growing your email: curated lead magnets and personality quizzes. Kylee shares how podcasters can use these tools to turn casual listeners into superfans, and grow a podcast audience that actually sticks around.

Kylee Chandler is a podcast growth strategist and the host of the Podcast Growth Tools podcast. She specializes in helping podcasters, especially women with established shows, grow their email lists and create quiz funnels that convert. Kylee has worked with big names like Amy Porterfield and Kathy Heller, and she brings a creative, podcast-first approach to email marketing that feels anything but boring.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • What a lead magnet is and why podcasters need one

  • How to create a curated podcast bundle as a lead magnet

  • Why quizzes are one of the most powerful tools for growing your email list

  • How to use a quiz to deliver personalized podcast playlists to new listeners

  • The data quizzes give you about your audience (this one is SO good!)

  • How to write a lifestyle newsletter your subscribers actually want to open

  • Real-life quiz funnel results, including a 77% revenue increase!

  • Why nurturing your email list matters just as much as growing it

  • How Pinterest can amplify your quiz and lead magnet strategy

Key Takeaways

  • A curated podcast bundle, episodes grouped around your listeners' biggest pain points or desires, makes a far more compelling lead magnet than a basic checklist, especially if you have a large back catalog.

  • Quizzes work because people love to learn about themselves and when you pair quiz results with a personalized podcast playlist, you create an instant connection with new subscribers.

  • The data from a quiz funnel tells you exactly who is in your audience and what they need, which makes your content and offers so much more targeted.

  • You don't need a huge email list to start. Start nurturing now, so when you're ready to sell (or simply invite people to listen), they're already warm.

  • A lifestyle-style newsletter, one that leads with a story before getting into podcast updates, can dramatically boost your open rates. Kylee's hovers around 60%!

  • Quizzes are a long game, just like podcasting and Pinterest. Set it up, promote it, and let it work for you over time.

5 Pinterest Lessons That Helped Me Grow My Podcast 74%05 mai 202600:13:17

If you've ever wondered whether you have to be on Instagram to grow your podcast, this episode is for you! I'm sharing five things I've learned from taking Pinterest seriously as my main podcast marketing strategy over the past year, and the results have blown me away. We're talking about a 74% increase in downloads and 200+ new email subscribers, all without stressing over Instagram trends. If you're looking for sustainable podcasting strategies that actually work, keep listening!

Hey, I'm Andi Smiley, podcast coach for women and host of the Friendly Podcast Guide. I'm obsessed with helping you grow your podcast without letting it rule your life. I share strategies that actually work, the stuff I wish someone had told me sooner. This episode is straight from my own experience using Pinterest as my go-to podcast marketing strategy for the past year.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • Why finding the right platform is more important than being on every platform

  • How Pinterest helped me grow my podcast 74% in one year without Instagram

  • Why Pinterest SEO keywords are the foundation of a successful strategy

  • How I figured out that Pinterest-specific keyword research is a game changer

  • Why pins don't have to be pretty to perform well

  • What sustainable consistency actually looks like (hint: it's NOT 15 pins a day!)

  • Why Pinterest is a long game, and why that's actually great news for podcasters

Key Takeaways

  • Find your platform. Not every marketing platform is right for every podcast. Instagram wasn't working for me, Pinterest was. Give yourself permission to go where your people actually are.

  • SEO is everything on Pinterest. Using Pinterest-specific keywords (not just Google keywords) made a huge difference in how my pins performed.

  • Pretty pins are a bonus, not a requirement. Some of my best-performing pins are just text. Focus on clear, keyword-rich descriptions over beautiful graphics.

  • Consistency is personal. I started with one pin a week and slowly worked up to one per day. Find what you can sustain — and stick with it.

  • Pinterest is a long game. Expect to start seeing results around the 2–4 month mark. But unlike social media posts, pins keep working for months or even years.

Hey, I'm Andi Smiley, podcast coach for women and the host of Friendly Podcast Guide. I'm passionate about helping you grow your podcast without letting it run your life. I've been using Pinterest to grow my show for the past year, and the results have honestly blown me away…74% podcast growth and 200+ new email subscribers, all without Instagram.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • Why Pinterest is one of the best podcast marketing strategies for summer

  • What podcast swaps are and how to use them to grow your podcast audience

  • How to create shorter, bite-sized episodes that work for summer schedules

  • Bringing back your most popular episodes as "best of" content

  • How to take a podcast break without losing your listeners

  • How to communicate your break across your episode, email list, and social media

  • Why sustainable podcasting strategies matter more than rigid consistency

Key Takeaways

  • Pinterest is evergreen, which makes it one of the smartest podcast marketing strategies, batch your pins once and your marketing keeps working while you're on vacation.

  • Podcast swaps are a two-for-one win: they help you reach a new audience and fill your feed without creating brand-new content.

  • Shorter episodes can be a gift to both you and your listeners during the summer months, don't be afraid to experiment with the format.

  • "Best of" episodes are an underrated tool. Your newer listeners probably haven't heard your older hits, so bring them back!

  • Taking a break is not a cop-out, it's a sustainable podcasting strategy. Burning out helps no one.

  • If you're stepping away, tell your people! Share it in your last episode, in an email, and on social media, and always let them know when you'll be back.

How to Grow a Podcast Using Experiments w/ Whitney Archibald31 mars 202600:30:33

What if the secret to growing your podcast wasn't doing more, but experimenting more? In this episode, I'm chatting with my friend Whitney, the queen of experiments herself, about how an experimental mindset can completely transform the way you podcast. From hiring contractors and rethinking email strategy to rerunning archive episodes and ditching bonus content, we're sharing the real experiments we're currently trying (and what we've learned from the ones that didn't quite pan out).

Meet the Expert

Whitney is the host of The Family Lab, a podcast where she literally experiments with her family to figure out what works in parenting and home life. She brings that same curious, low-pressure approach to podcasting, which makes her one of my absolute favorite people to think out loud with about sustainable podcasting strategies.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • Whitney's experience hiring her first contractor to help launch a video podcast

  • How delegating podcast tasks (and thinking of it as an experiment) takes the pressure off

  • My experiment with splitting weekly emails into two focused sends

  • Growing a small but mighty email list and actually making money from it

  • Using Threads as a surprisingly fun way to grow a podcast audience

  • Why "reliability" might matter more than "consistency" in podcasting

  • What Whitney is doing with her podcast archive to build out a self-reliance series

  • My experiment with skipping bonus episodes between seasons, and what I'm learning

Key Takeaways

  • Calling something an experiment completely changes how you relate to it…especially when it doesn't go perfectly. It takes the failure personally out of the equation and turns your analytics into data rather than a verdict on your worth as a podcaster.

  • You don't need a massive email list to support podcast growth or sell your offers. Starting small (even with 7 subscribers!) and staying consistent is what builds momentum over time.

  • Outsourcing doesn't have to be all-or-nothing. Whitney and I both talked about the ongoing process of figuring out what to hand off and what to keep and how that balance shifts as skills and needs evolve.

  • Reliability over consistency is a reframe worth considering. Your listeners want to be able to count on you to come back and show up with quality, not necessarily on a rigid weekly schedule.

I share sustainable podcasting strategies, Pinterest marketing tips, and what actually works. • Being a podcast guest and doing workshops to grow downloads and email subscribers

How to Grow a Podcast Without Marketing All the Time10 mars 202600:05:17

If marketing your podcast feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. In this episode, I’m sharing three simple podcast marketing strategies that help you grow your audience without spending all your time promoting your show. These are the exact tools I use to grow my podcast and business while keeping marketing sustainable and manageable.

I’m Andi Smiley, a podcast coach who helps women grow their podcasts without letting marketing take over their lives. I’m passionate about sharing strategies that actually work, the things I wish someone had told me earlier, and conversations with smart podcasters who are doing things differently.

Topics Discussed in This Episode

  • How to grow a podcast audience without spending hours on marketing

  • Why Pinterest is a powerful search engine for podcast marketing

  • How Pinterest helped double my podcast downloads

  • Why podcast guesting is one of the best ways to find new listeners

  • How guesting helps people connect with your voice and style

  • Using Threads as a simple, low-effort marketing platform

  • Why sustainable podcast marketing matters for long-term growth

  • Simple podcast marketing strategies that don’t take over your life

Key Takeaways

Pinterest, podcast guesting, and Threads are three powerful ways to grow your podcast without constantly chasing algorithms or spending hours creating content.

Pinterest works as a search engine, meaning your content can continue bringing in listeners months or even years later. Podcast guesting introduces you to people who already love listening to podcasts, making it easier to turn listeners into subscribers. Threads allows you to share ideas quickly and connect with other podcasters in a low-pressure way.

2 Easy Ways to Grow Your Podcast Offline27 mai 202500:13:26

Is social media marketing getting you down? This episode is for you. Andi shares two simple, powerful ways to market your podcast that have nothing to do with Instagram or TikTok—but everything to do with real connection. These strategies are easy to start, but might just push you a little outside your comfort zone in the best way.

Andi Smiley is a podcast coach for moms who want to create a fun and fulfilling podcast without burning out. As someone who’s grown her podcast through meaningful, low-pressure marketing strategies, she’s here to share what’s worked for her and her clients.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • Why social media isn’t the only way to market your podcast

    • How networking events (yes, really!) can help you grow your audience

    • What to look for in a networking event that fits your vibe

    • How to turn everyday conversations into podcast marketing moments

    • Using “curiosity statements” to naturally talk about your show

    • The power of in-person and face-to-face virtual connections

    • A story about making a genuine connection that turned into a client

    Takeaway from this episode:

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, start by writing down one sentence you can use the next time someone asks how you’re doing—something that naturally brings up your podcast. Practice saying it out loud. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be true. Marketing your podcast doesn’t have to feel like a sales pitch. It can just be you, sharing something you love.

Podcast SEO for Beginners w/ Brittany Herzberg20 mai 202500:32:28

What is podcast SEO? In this episode Andi chats with Brittany Herzberg (the queen of SEO) and breaks down how we can use SEO for our podcasts in a way that doesn’t make me want to run away screaming.

Brittany Herzberg is an SEO strategist and copywriter who has been using SEO to increase podcast discoverability for her own podcast and her clients’ podcasts for several years. She is good at explaining concepts like SEO keywords and visibility in a way that is simple, but very affective.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • Podcast SEO basics

    • Podcast SEO examples

    • Podcast discoverability

    • Podcast SEO keywords

    • Podcast SEO best practices

    • How to get your podcast SEO right

Here's the one thing you should implement in your podcast if you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start and that is…making sure that your episode titles are 60 characters or less. Getting into this habit will be super helpful for you as you are starting your podcast. Like Brittany said during our conversation, it helps your ideal listener know what the episode is going to be about (because the title doesn’t get cut off with an ellipsis). And whenever you interview someone make sure to use their name in the title as well, so that when people are searching for that person, your episode comes up! (Okay, I know that was two things, but they were two small things, so hopefully that’s okay.)

Sometimes inspiration comes in the strangest ways. In this episode Whitney Archibald talks about how a rock climbing accident helped her get crystal clear about what she wanted to do with her podcast.

Whitney Archibald is the host of 2 podcasts: The Family Lab and The Y Magazine Podcast. She has the best parenting advice and is always trying the funnest experiments with her podcast. She has been podcasting for 6 years and is a podcast lover like me.

Write Your Best Episode: Tips & Experiments w/ Whitney Archibald15 avr. 202500:30:06

How do you actually sit down and write an awesome podcast episode? The short answer…experiment a lot. The long answer is this episode. And one of my favorite parts is when Whitney breaks down how to create an amazing podcast episode out of a bad interview.

Whitney Archibald is the host of 2 podcasts: The Family Lab and The Y Magazine Podcast. She has been podcasting for 6 years so she has had plenty of time to figure out what works and what doesn’t.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • Solo podcast episodes

    • Interview podcast episodes

    • Narrative podcast episodes

    • Writing a podcast episode

    • How to save a bad interview

    • Podcast interviewing tips

Here’s the one thing you should implement in your podcast if you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start and that is to experiment. Try something new. The best way to figure out what your listeners like is to try something new and see how they respond. And don’t get me wrong this doesn’t have to be big experiments. This could be something as simple as changing up the way you say your outro, or choosing a topic that feels a little outside of your comfort zone. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to track how your listeners react to it and track what you think about it too. Then you’ll know if you should try to incorporate it into your podcast or not.

3 Podcast Mistakes That Almost Broke Me (And How I Fixed Them)08 avr. 202500:15:05

How do you avoid burning out as a mom with a podcast? In this episode I give you 3 mistakes that I made that led to me burning out and how to avoid them.

When you follow the advice in this episode you will avoid so much of the stress and overwhelm that I dealt with in the first year of my podcast.

Topics discussed in this episode include:

    • Seasonal podcast format

    • Launching a podcast

    • How to start a podcast

    • Podcast download numbers

    • Podcast editing

Here is the one thing you should implement in your podcast if you're feeling overwhelmed and you're not sure where to start, and that is having a seasonal format. That break is not only so that you can rest, which is very, very important, but it's also to give your brain a break from putting out content so that you can refill your creative cup so that you're ready to put out your best content again for the next season. If you don't have that break, eventually you're probably gonna run out of ideas, which is kind of the worst thing that can happen for a podcaster. So you need to take those breaks so that you have time to recharge and give your brain a break from trying to think of new ideas so that when you do come back, the ideas are just gonna flow. I can promise you that because that's what happened to me when I finally took my first break.  I came back with so much energy and excitement around my podcast and. You deserve to have that energy and excitement around your podcast too, not just when you first start your podcast, but every season after that

How to Name a Podcast + The Story Behind My Podcast's Name01 avr. 202500:15:48

Your podcast name is the first thing people notice—so no pressure, right?? In this episode I’m telling the story of how I named my podcast along with some other vulnerable stories like how many downloads the Friendly Podcast Guide got last month and how much money I’ve made so far this year.

Wins, Fails & What I’d Do Differently: My Season 3 Launch25 mars 202500:16:37

When I wrap up the launch of a podcast season I always like to take some time to evaluate how it went. What went well, what went poorly and what I can learn from all of that. So, I decided to walk you through my process in this episode.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • Podcast launch strategy

    • Stress-free podcasting

    • Creating a podcast trailer

    • Seasonal podcast format

    • How to start a successful podcast

    • Having a growth mindset

Here's the one thing you should implement in your podcast if you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start. As you are launching your podcast (or launching the next season of your podcast) the most important thing for you to remember is that your worth is separate from your download numbers. Take it from someone that is still working on remembering this. Download numbers are just information, they in no way reflect if you are an awesome person or not, they just tell you if the things that you tried during that launch worked or not.

How to Build Your Podcast Community w/ Jamie B Golden18 mars 202500:31:31

We get to learn how to build a podcast community from Jamie B Golden. She has been in the podcasting world for more than 10 years and she was kind enough to share her best podcasting advice with us today.

Jamie is the co-host of The Popcast with Knox and Jamie, a podcast that is not only delightful, but also pays Jamie’s rent.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • How to build a podcast community

    • Innovating with your podcast

    • Knowing your podcast audience

    • Advice for podcasters

    • Creating a podcast

Here's the one thing you should implement in your podcast if you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start. And that is editing. You need to edit out more than you think you should. And I’m not talking about getting rid of all of the ums and the pauses, I honestly think you should keep some of those in, because that helps the conversation sound more natural. What I’m talking about is getting rid of anything that isn’t moving the conversation forward. My chat with Jamie had so many fun moments in it that I had to cut, because they weren’t applicable and they were slowing down the energy, but I had to be brutal in my editing to make the best possible episode. So be brutal with your editing. Your listeners will thank you and then tell their friends about your awesome show.

And this is a great example of what can happen for you and your podcast when you take the time to launch your podcast.

This gives you plenty of time to hype it up and talk about it and it gives your people plenty of time to hear about it and get excited about it with you.

Conquering Self-Doubt as a Mom in Business with Jen Morris23 janv. 202500:38:18

Learn about how to keep loving boundaries and network as a mom with creative endeavors.

I got to chat with Jen Morris, the founder of Renegade Motherhood, a movement that helps elevate and amplify moms in business!

    Topics discussed in this episode:

Having boundaries as a mom in business

How to network as a mom in business

    Channeling main character energy

    Kicking self-doubt to the curb

Being picky about the mentors you listen to

Having a “why” for your business

    Takeaways from this episode

Embracing main character energy helps you live to your fullest potential.

One way you can deal with self-doubt and your inner critic is to make sure your endeavor aligns with your values and passions.

The best way to form and hold boundaries around family, work and self is communication.

If you are wanting to meet people and network more, look at the groups you are already part of (like the women in your kids’ class or the people in your HIGH Fitness class) and ask to get to know them better.
