Whilst hundreds of soulless producers jam my FYP on TikTok it was not difficult to pick up a unique and talented artist. The words and sound of uramakiuramaki stroke a chord with me and a few messages later he agreed to do an interview for the podcast. Johny Walker listens with attention. Long live the underground.

After stepping away from established, commercially successful projects that had earned him placements with major labels like Sony and Columbia, A. Coronato distanced himself from the mainstream scene, driven by a visceral need for experimentation. Since January 2023, he has been releasing a wide variety of tracks under the pseudonym “uramakiuramaki.”

Determined to rediscover the true reasons why he has been making music for over 15 years, uramakiuramaki has deliberately isolated himself from everything the modern music industry represents, choosing a solitary path with no ambition other than to remain curious every day.

Following the modest yet meaningful success of his debut single "Going Under (340)" and his first EP "Yoshimitsu", Antonio has consistently released tracks that span a wide range of genres, including Breakbeat, Jungle, and Techno. This eclectic approach makes his style alternative and unpredictable, free from the genre constraints that often limit artists.

For uramakiuramaki, writing music is a form of therapy rather than a means to achieve fame or recognition.

After releasing two more EPs in the first half of 2024 ("Club Nostalgia" and "yūrei"), Antonio has begun to attract attention from the underground electronic music scene, thanks to his unconventional style.

In 2025, he released his debut album Otaku Generation, which continues to draw attention within the underground scene—particularly among the emerging wave of breakcore enthusiasts.

Remember when we first told you about noticewave on episode 250. Well, noticewave blew up in 2024 with one song in particular being the most remixed and played underground song throughout Europe and the US. The "L'Amour Toujours" German Far-Right Controversy, also known as Ausländer Raus, refers to the ongoing use of the Italian dance song "L'Amour Toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino by Germans on the political right who replaced the song's lyrics with "Ausländer raus," meaning "Foreigners out." The song's usage by right-wing groups in Germany started in late 2023 when a video surfaced of men singing "Ausländer raus" in a discotek in Dortmund. In May 2024, a viral video of men and women singing "Ausländer raus" at an outdoor bar in Sylt sparked discourse and backlash. The video included people seemingly emulating Adolf Hitler by putting two fingers on their upper lip (to resemble Hitler's mustache) and Nazi saluting with their right hands.

Background

On November 5th, 2023, Twitter / X[1] user @ZeronnyLS posted a video, allegedly taken at a discotek in Dortmund, showing club-goers singing, "Ausländer raus," over "L'Amour Toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino. The video received roughly 1.8 million views and 3,500 likes in seven months (shown below).

On April 28th, 2024, X[2] user @malegruen posted a new video of Germans chanting "Ausländer raus" to the song "L'Amour Toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino, receiving over 148,000 views and 250 likes in two months (shown below).

Sylt Viral Video

On May 23rd, 2024, X[3] user @Markus_17x tweeted a video that was originally posted by X[4] user @OskarBreitfeld who deleted his post. The video showed patrons at a bar in Sylt singing "Ausländer raus" along with "L'Amour Toujours," receiving over 119,500 views and 910 likes in 11 days (shown below).

The video gained viral reposts and quotes, like one shared by X[5] user @norazabel on May 23rd, receiving over 1.6 million views and 1,200 likes in 11 days.

Online Reactions

German news outlets started to report on the phenomenon in late May 2024, like Spiegel,[6][7] which even reached out to Italian DJ Gigi D'Agostino for comment who said, "My song is about a wonderful feeling that connects people," to counter its memetic usage.

In late May 2024, some internet users praised the "Ausländer raus" meme and spread iterations of the song, such as X[8] user @Black_Pilled who shared a hardstyle remix of the song on May 30th, receiving over 9,800 likes in four days (shown below).

"L'Amour Toujours" Banned From 2024 Oktoberfest

On May 27th, 2024, a report went viral on X[9] that "L'Amour Toujours" was banned for the 2024 Oktoberfest, receiving over 1 million views and 11,000 likes in a week (shown below).

On May 27th, 2024, a report went viral on X[9] that "L'Amour Toujours" was banned for the 2024 Oktoberfest, receiving over 1 million views and 11,000 likes in a week (shown below).

In this episode Johny Walker explores and provides evidence of the systemic discrimination and bias of the dance music industry’s main stream media against white heterosexual males. If you are white, male and heterosexual and you are an aspiring DJ or musician your chances of breaking into the scene in 2024 are close to nought.

And why’s that? Keep on listening to find out.

I want to hear from any white male heterosexual producers or DJs out there who are struggling to make it because of active discrimination against them. I want to hear their story and feature them in a podcast and showcase their work. Drop us a message on Substack or via email.

Whilst trying to recover from the Spotify commies who decided to remove selective podcast episodes out of the blue because they contain music (!!!) I prepared this interim mix. So, please enjoy some of the hottest phonky tunes from 2023. And if you like this there are more to come…

Spotify is blatantly anti-music. They say “Spotify for Podcasters should not be used to distribute music tracks, DJ mixes, or similar musical content.” If this not an oxymoron I do not know what is.

Do you still give your money to these music haters?

So, come back to our Substack home to continue the discussion, share your thoughts and anything you would like to be featured on future episodes.

Bye, bye Spotify. May you rot in excrement…

Yes, back in 1993 people did dance to electronic dance music ! In 1993 dance music fragmented in multiple genres, and local scenes with each having its own unique sound. Progressive house and trance continued evolving, UK's breakbeat hardcore evolved into Jungle, the Dutch are crafting their own harder sound. In the US the 2nd gen of artists in Chicago, Detroit & NYC is making a move. Here's Johny Walker riding with you on this time machine...

A big welcome to the house of the freaks. This is Johny Walker and we are back with another episode of the Freakbeats EDM podcast.

Now, we noticed in the last couple of weeks we got so many new listeners from Romania, Portugal and Spain. Thank you all. What’s interesting to me is that the common factor in these 3 countries is that they have a very good taste in choosing their music podcasts. But, seriously now, the common factor is that they are listening to a lot of techno. And I mean a lot. So, as a sort of thank you to our new listeners and the soaring popularity there we thought that we would do a techno special.

Now, I am not dropping our monthly best-of selection or the live reaction to the weekly releases we regularly do. You see for us everything is electronic dance music and we love all subgenres equally. I am just taking a break and see whether it makes sense to do it differently because I know many of you only like one particular genre of dance music.

So, if you like techno and you want to listen more episode with just techno make sure you share the podcast with other techno freaks and listen until the end. For the time being here’s our hottest selection of tunes for this week of October the 1st

Let’s see what we for you have this week

* Mandala (Original Mix) Jay Lumen Footwork

* Dance Or Die (Original Mix) Green Velvet, Matt Sassari SASS

* Rave (Adam Beyer & Layton Giordani Remix) Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani, Sam Paganini Drumcode

* UFOs & LFOs (Original Mix) Layton Giordani Drumcode

* Children (Extended Mix) Robert Miles, Deborah De Luca Smilax Records

* Bring It On Down (Original Mix) Ramon Tapia Say What?

* Can't Stop the Feeling (Original Mix) Eli Brown Drumcode

* Your Mind (Charles D Epic Mix) Charles D (USA), Adam Beyer, Bart Skils Drumcode

* Deep Down (Original Mix) Eli Brown Drumcode

* Mercury (Original Mix) HI-LO, Space 92 Filth on Acid

If you like techno you are in for a treat. A best of this week's (October 1st) releases. Enjoy the filthy beats.

Here's the most hyped and played tracks for this week of September 2022. Diversity proof; inclusivity enhanced.

The intro is allegedly an actual clip as recorded from BBC Radio 1 Dance although this has been officially refuted.

A viral video is doing the rounds of BBC Radio 1’s emergency broadcast interruption announcing the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

The short clip buzzing around shows a Radio 1 Dance track being cut into with a short note about the late monarch’s passing, before getting right back into the tunes.

While the announcement did come during one of DJ’s Pete Tong’s dance and electronica mix, the national broadcaster continued their eulogy for longer, before leading into ‘God Save The Queen’.

For the time being we are all grooving to the bourgeois beat

Me and mami doing drugs in a penthouse suite

Way to good and way too free

So we live like the bourgeoisie

Me and mami doing drugs in a penthouse suite

I'm the one I love you mami

You and me to the bourgeois beat
