Tommy Aaron - Part 1 (The Early Years and Tour Wins)01 Sep 202400:42:47

Winner of the 1973 Masters Tournament, Tommy Aaron, begins his story by recounting his younger days growing up in a town with no golf course and attending a high school with no golf team yet still persevering to win the Georgia State Class A High School Golf Championship. After much collegiate and amateur success, including a runner-up finish to Charlie Coe at the 1958 U.S. Amateur and playing on the winning Walker Cup team at Muirfield in 1959, Tommy turned pro in 1960 at age 23. He relates the influence Manuel de la Torre, the great teacher and Milwaukee CC professional, had on his later game and then fondly recalls his PGA Tour wins leading up to his crowning achievement in his home state. Tommy Aaron shares his memories and early life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Sandy takes us through the transformative years of the Ryder Cup competition that he witnessed first-hand as a player from 1979, the first year including players from the continent, to 1987, Europe's first win on U.S. soil at Captain Jack Nicklaus' Muirfield Village. He talks about his 3rd and 4th "majors", winning the World Hickory Open in 2014 and 2016 and his "Call to the Hall" in 2012. Sandy Lyle wraps up his life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Sir Bob Charles - Part 2 (The Open Championship)29 Jul 202400:53:53

Sir Bob Charles, 2008 inductee into the World Golf Hall of Fame, takes us back to the start of his professional career at age 24, a career that included 80 professional wins. He recounts coming to America in 1963 to play on the PGA Tour where he picked up his first win here at the Houston Open that same year, the first by a lefty. Weeks later, Bob triumphed in the Open Championship at Lytham prevailing in a 36-hole playoff with Phil Rodgers and becoming the first Kiwi and southpaw to win a major. He and Bruce have fond memories of teaming to win the CBS Golf Classic in a 36-hole final versus Bobby Nichols and "Champagne" Tony Lema in 1964. Bob concludes this segment by recalling his win in the 1969 Piccadilly World Match Play event, this time in a sudden-death playoff with Gene "The Machine" Littler. Sir Bob Charles continuing his life story with us, "FORE the Good of the Game."

World Golf Hall of Fame member Sir Bob Charles begins his story with his life in New Zealand, learning the game of golf on his own as a young lad. He recalls the discipline instilled in him by his schoolmaster father, his days working as a bank teller and his early successes as an amateur. He and Bruce Devlin recall their experiences at the inaugural Eisenhower Trophy team matches at the Old Course in 1958 and their memories of Bobby Jones , the U.S. side's Honorary Captain. Bob emotionally recalls  befriending Gary Player and Gary's late wife Vivienne and remembers Ben Hogan, in his fifties, playing the finest round of golf he has ever witnessed, at Oakland Hills. Sir Bob Charles launches into his story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

World Golf Hall of Fame member, Tom Watson, joins us to tell his story beginning  with his childhood years growing up in Kansas City and learning the game from his father at age six.  After getting cut for the Little League baseball team at age nine, golf became his passion. Listen in as  Tom talks about winning the 1964 Kansas City Men's Match Play event at age 14 which provided him with opportunities to play in exhibitions the next two years with his two golfing heroes, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Halfway through his collegiate experience at Stanford, Tom wondered what he was going to do with his life when he got real serious about his golf, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Sandy Lyle - Part 2 (The 1985 Open and the 1988 Masters)28 Aug 202400:49:38

Two-time major championship winner Sandy Lyle takes his through the mid-1980's, the most productive period in his professional career, beginning with his Open Championship win at Royal St. George's in 1985, becoming the first British winner since Tony Jacklin in 1969 and the first Scot since Tommy Armour. After getting his first PGA victory in the U.S. at the 1986 Greater Greensboro Open, Sandy went on to win the Tournament Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass the following year. He prevailed at the 1988 Masters with an iconic 7-iron bunker shot setting up a closing birdie (ably described by runner-up Mark Calcavecchia in a cameo appearance) and opening the door for more Brits to win a green jacket at Augusta. Sandy Lyle continues his life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Meg Mallon - Part 3 (2004 U.S. Open and the Solheim Cup)27 Aug 202400:38:51

18-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Meg Mallon finishes her career with a flourish by winning her 4th major, the 2004 Women's U.S. Open over Annika Sorenstam with a brilliant bogey-free closing round of 65, the finest final round in the 59-year history of the event. Meg remembers the golf history she witnessed playing with Sorenstam when she shot 59, with Juli Inkster when she won the LPGA for her career Grand Slam, with Dottie Pepper when she shot the lowest under par at a major and with Karie Webb when she earned entry into the LPGA HOF. Injuries cut Meg's career short but not before competing in 8 Solheim Cups as a player and leading the U.S. side to victory as their Captain in 2013. Hall of Famer, Meg Mallon concludes her life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Competition came naturally to Meg in that environment and she was introduced to golf at age 7 with some early lessons. Major championship winner Corey Pavin looks back on each of his 15 PGA Tour wins including his first at the 1984 Houston Open. Corey really enjoyed playing at Colonial, winning twice there, and also was able to enjoy repeat wins at the Hawaiian Open, the Bob Hope Classic, the Los Angeles Open at Riviera and the Greater Milwaukee Open where, at age 46 he set a nine-hole scoring record of 26. Jerry Pate - Part 3 (The Majors, Team Play and Life After Golf)26 Aug 202400:50:18

Jerry Pate, who had a Hall of Fame-destined career cut short by injury at age 28, completes his story with a look back on his crowning achievement as a golfer, winning the 1976 U.S. Open at Atlanta Athletic Club in a PGA Rookie of the Year season. He had several other close calls in majors including the 1978 PGA Championship at Oakmont CC where John Mahaffey won in a 3-way playoff with Pate and Tom Watson. Jerry talks about representing the USA at the 1976 World Cup with Dave Stockton and playing on the 1981 Ryder Cup "Dream Team" that included nine future HOF'ers. World Golf Hall of Fame member Sandra Haynie continues her story with the 1973 season and fondly recalls her six titles the following year including two majors, her second LPGA Championship and the Women's U.S. Open where she birdied the final two holes to win. Sandra explains her decision to step away from the Tour in 1977 citing  the toll various injuries were taking on her body, impacting her ability to compete at the highest level. She returned in 1981 and won her final major and Tour event, the  Peter Jackson Classic (du Maurier), the following year. In 1991, after 42 wins on the LPGA Tour, 9th on the all-time list, she decided to step away from Tour play and devote herself to giving back to the game. Bobby Nichols recounts his early PGA Tour wins, several of which Bruce Devlin later won including the site of their first victories, the St. Petersburg O pen. Bobby takes us back to his 1964 PGA Championship at Columbus CC where he played the final round with Ben Hogan and secured a wire-to-wire win, setting a scoring record that was to stand for thirty years. He gratefully remembers his relationship with Firestone CC as their Head Professional and remembers winning the 1964 Carling World Open at Oakland Hills over Arnold Palmer, again playing with Ben Hogan who was quoted as saying "you ought to pay me to play with you!" Bruce enjoys reminding Bobby of the drubbing Bruce and Bob Charles put on Bobby and Tony Lema in the 1964 CBS Golf Classic but Bobby turns the tables reminding Bruce of his win the following year at the Houston Classic by 1 over Bruce and Chi Chi Rodriguez. Bobby Nichols continues his life story, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Major championship winner Bobby Nichols tells us about learning the game, as a young man in Louisville, Kentucky, while caddying for $1.00 a loop. Hoping to be the next Johnny Unitas playing high school football, Bobby was in a horrific auto crash that put him in the hospital for 96 days. With the help of an inspirational letter from Ben Hogan, he not only survived but was awarded a college football scholarship by Bear Bryant to attend Texas A&M University. With no ability to continue in contact sports, Bobby played college golf there before turning professional in 1960. Bobby Nichols shares his early days, "FORE the Good of the Game."

Gloria Ehret - Part 2 (The 1966 LPGA Championship)23 Aug 202400:51:54

Gloria Ehret takes us back through her LPGA career which began with a confidence-building 5th place finish in the 1965 LPGA Championship, her first year on tour. That led to her one major win the following year at Stardust C.C. in Las Vegas. Gloria prevailed by 3 shots over the great Mickey Wright and earned her Most Improved Player on the LPGA Tour in 1966. Listen in as she recalls her wins and close calls and talks about many of the game's greats of that era. Some of her fondest memories come from the 2009 LPGA reunion she helped Sandra Post organize in Palm Springs where 100+ former players from the 50's, 60's and 70's gathered to remember and celebrate their times together back in the day. Gloria Ehret - Part 1 (The Early Years)23 Aug 202400:46:18

Winner of the 1966 LPGA Championship, Gloria Ehret, takes us back to the days of her youth growing up in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Gloria, a multi-sport athlete, was introduces to golf by her father and uncle who needed a fourth to round out their group. Under the watchful eye of the pro at the local muni, she developed her game and, after an exhibition by Tommy Bolt at their local course, she was really hooked. Moves to Florida for junior college and then to Connecticut, allowed her to compete, with some success, in amateur events before she decided to turn pro and earn her Tour card in 1965. Dottie Pepper continues her story by reflecting on her final major championship win at the 1999 Nabisco Dinah Shore where she set a record for most strokes under par in a major at -19. Dottie finished 2nd at the "Dinah" three times to go along with her two wins there. She remembers her other close calls in the majors and fondly recalls her six appearances as a player in the Solheim Cup where she amassed an impressive 13-5-2 record including a 4-0-0 performance in the 1998 edition at Muirfield Village. We conclude our visit with major champion Jeff Sluman with him recalling a "mystical" week at the 1999 Sony Open that found him in a mental state that he had never experienced before or since. After recalling his other Tour wins the conversation kiddingly turns to his 1-6 playoff record and later life on the Champions Tour where he matched his number of PGA regular Tour wins with six on the senior circuit. Ultimately, our talk turns to life outside the ropes, Chicago sports teams and his introduction to fine wines. 2-time major winner and popular golf broadcaster, Dottie Pepper, takes us back to learning the game under the watchful eye of her father Don and early mentor George J. Pulver, Sr. who Dottie honored with her recent book A Letter to a Future Champion - My Time with Mr. Pulver.  She had early successes, some while playing on her high school boys golf team; winning the NY Women's State Amateur as a 15-year-old, winning the 1981 and 1983 Girl's NY Junior Amateurs and finishing as low amateur at the Women's U.S. Open in 1984. A 3-time All-American at Furman, Dottie then joined the LPGA Tour in 1988 and got her first win the following year. The 1989 winner of the Open Championship at Royal Troon, Mark Calcavecchia continues his story by recounting the thrills and agony of representing your nation in team competition. He begins with the painful U.S. loss in the 1987 Ryder Cup at Muirfield Village under Captain Jack Nicklaus and continues with a tough draw at the Belfry two years later. Listen in as Mark takes us through his roller coaster match with Colin Montgomerie in the "War by the Shore" in 1991 and hear Captain Dave Stockton relate how Calc's fast start in his match inspired the U.S. side's play that final day.
