Jays put up 15 in Minnesota, Bowden Francis stays hot, and more!

Episode 239

mardi 3 septembre 2024Duration 30:04

The Toronto Blue Jays wrap up a grueling week with eight games in seven days, returning home after a labour day day-off as the Philadelphia Phillies head into town.

We talked about the Danny Jansen game and the scorecard anomaly that it was including the two "debuts" you never knew happened. Plus, Bowden Francis stays hot as he allows one hit in 7.0 against the BoSox. And the Jays finally blew off some Postseason steam against the Minnesota Twins as they put up at 15-spot in Minny.

After that, we talked about the future of George Springer and where we fits, (or doesn't fit), in the future plans of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bowden Francis' gem, Joey Votto's retirement, and more!

Episode 238

lundi 26 août 2024Duration 39:34

The Toronto Blue Jays had a winning homestand this week, as they dropped a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds before sweeping a four-game set with the L.A. Angels.

We talked about the back-to-back home runs that Joey Loperfido and Addison Barger hit to walk-off the Angels and how both young hitters have improved as their seasons have gone along. We also talked about the excellent pitching performances put forward by Bowden Francis lately and where he fits heading into next season.

After that, we talked about Joey Votto's decision to retire, John Schneider's name on a list of managers who might be on the hot seat, and some updates about Jordan Romano and Bo Bichette.

The Good and (Mostly) Bad from the First Half of 2024

Episode 229

lundi 15 juillet 2024Duration 44:45

It's the All-Star break, meaning the first half of the 2024 Major League Baseball season has come to an end.

We took a quick look at what happened this weekend in Arizona, as the Blue Jays dropped two of three to the Diamondbacks. After that, we went through a Three Up, Three Down for the first half of the season, which included the bats not bouncing back, injuries to the pitching staff, the bullpen imploding, and quite a reach for positives.

Blue Jays bring out the brooms, the quality start streak, Big Nate's debut, and more!

Episode 139

jeudi 27 avril 2023Duration 32:14

The Toronto Blue Jays busted out the brooms for the first time this season with a three-game sweep over the Chicago White Sox.

We took a look back at the series and the excellent pitching that combined to allow just two earned runs over the three games. We also talked about how the White Sox have completely fallen off of a cliff since looking like one of baseball's best up-and-coming teams a couple of years ago.

After that, we looked ahead to the upcoming series with the Seattle Mariners, which will be highlighted by Teoscar Hernandez's return to Toronto.

Vladdy hates the Yankees, ranting about the AL East, and more!

Episode 138

lundi 24 avril 2023Duration 31:21

The Toronto Blue Jays pulled off another huge series win against an American League East opponent.

After taking two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays last week, the Blue Jays went into New York and took two of three from the Yankees.

We talked about the strong pitching the Blue Jays got from Yusei Kikuchi, Alek Manoah, and Kevin Gausman, and we also talked about Vladimir Guerrero Jr. saying he would never play for the Yankees.

After that, we took a look ahead at the upcoming series against the Chicago White Sox and complained about how absurd the AL East is this year.

No clutch in Houston, the Las Vegas Athletics, the Designated Pinch Runner, and more!

Episode 137

jeudi 20 avril 2023Duration 41:01

The Blue Jays travelled to Houston and dropped two of three to the Astros. Next up, they'll head to New York for a huge series with the Yankees.

We talked about Kevin Gausman getting lit up for the first time this season and what went wrong in his start, Chris Bassitt putting together his strongest start as a Blue Jay, and what José Berríos did right in his seven-inning outing. We also talked about the nightmare eighth inning in Wednesday's game and the lack of clutch hitting the Blue Jays have had.

After that, we looked at the report that the Oakland A's are moving to Vegas, the note that Shohei Ohtani could be traded, and the new rules that Major League Baseball is testing out in the Atlantic League.

José Berríos and Yusei Kikuchi come through against the Rays, Bo Bichette reaches 500 hits, and more!

Episode 136

lundi 17 avril 2023Duration 28:14

The Tampa Bay Rays are undefeated no more!

José Berríos beat the Rays on Friday to end their winning streak at 13 games and then Yusei Kikuchi beat them on Saturday to put them on their first losing streak of the season. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays' bid for a weekend sweep ended on Sunday as Tampa tagged Alek Manoah in a 7-1 win.

We talked about Berríos and Kikuchi's huge contributions, what's going on with Manoah, and Bo Bichette becoming the fastest Blue Jay ever to reach 500 hits in his big-league career. After that, we looked at just how good the AL East has been this season and then looked ahead to Toronto's upcoming series in Houston with the Astros.

Good vibes from the Home Opener, Ricky Tiedemann's incredible season debut, and more!

Episode 135

vendredi 14 avril 2023Duration 37:39

The Toronto Blue Jays Home Opener certainly delivered.

Kevin Kiermaier robbed a home run at the new centre field wall, the bats smashed home run after home run, and the new outfield social areas gave fans an entirely different way to enjoy the game.

We recapped the series against Detroit and what the experience was like going to a baseball game in the pitch clock era. We also talked about Kiermaier's presence in the lineup and how he's very quickly become a fan favourite and why we aren't worried about Alek Manoah after a couple of difficult starts.

After that, we took a look at the dominant start that top prospect Ricky Tiedemann had in Double-A and we looked ahead to the upcoming series against the 13-0 Tampa Bay Rays and whether or not the Blue Jays can be the team to hand them their first loss.

A rollercoaster ride in Anaheim, what to do about José Berríos, and more!

Episode 134

lundi 10 avril 2023Duration 36:09

That was certainly a wild ride.

The Blue Jays concluded their season-opening 10-game road trip by taking two of three games from the Angels in Los Angeles and we took a look back at all the good stuff and the bad stuff from the weekend with Adam from Blue Jays Today.

We talked about Chris Bassitt's rebound start, Matt Chapman's impossibly good start to the season, and how Kevin Kiermaier has quickly endeared himself on his new team. We also talked about what's next for José Berríos after another poor start. After that, we took a look ahead to Tuesday's Home Opener and Toronto's series against the basement-dwelling Detroit Tigers.

Good vibes only as the Blue Jays take three of four from the Royals

Episode 133

jeudi 6 avril 2023Duration 35:20

That's more like it!

After an up-and-down opening weekend in St. Louis, the Blue Jays rolled into Kansas City and won three of four games against the basement-dwelling Royals.

We talked about the Yusei Kikuchi Revenge Tour getting off to a strong start and Alek Manoah rebounding with a very strong outing. We also talked about how Vladdy looks as locked in as ever, Matt Chapman putting up one of the strongest starts to a season ever by a Blue Jay, and how Daulton Varsho has immediately become a fan favourite.
