Ellie was involved in a terrible vehicle accident where she was paralyzed. But that has not slowed her down one bit! She is a champion and advocate for people who find themselves in a similar situation.
In our chat, Ellie is very candid about her experiences and honest about the fact that she didn’t always have the most positive outlook. But she is a fighter and pushed through the darkness to become a beacon of light for ALL OF US!

This week, we want to take the opportunity to revisit one of our favorite episodes, #17 with Scot Weeves. 
 Originally posted on 12 February 2023, Scot’s episode immediately became one of our favorites. Scot is a decorated combat veteran who was severely wounded overseas. While recovering, Scot leveraged his circumstances to gain his wife’s permission to purchase “one more” fox, to… “aid” in his recovery. 
Scot is hilarious, and his story speaks to how a car build can help one recover and move forward with their life.
This episode also has to contain the absolute best of all time “Fast 10”. 
Fast forward to the present day; Scot’s Coupe is a well-known Fox. His signature (custom mix ) blue with bronze wheels identifies this car from miles away.

Episode 17.) We start the episode this week with John on a tear. Some internet trolls ruffled his feathers and he lets us know about it. This week’s guest of honor is Scot Weev’s, a certified American Hero! You probably know his coupe by its signature orangey brown interior and custom one-off dark blue paint. Scot discusses the traumatic circumstance that led to the building of his Notch he affectionately calls Monica, and how it was cathartic during his recovery. This episode has plenty of humor, from the origin of the name “Monica” to John impressing us with his Fast 10 and we discover that John is easily distracted by “penguin noises”. We think you are really going to enjoy this one. Episode 56.) This week we had the privilege to speak with the (co)winner of Best in Show from Foxtoberfest 2023, Paul VahHalst.
Unfortunately, big diddy, John was unable to join us. He was doing something much more important and seeing his son off to be married. Congrats to the Brooks family and best wishes to Mason and Heather. 
In our conversation, Paul talks about how his passion for cars developed, how it matured over the years and how he ultimately arrived at building a Capri.   As many of us can relate, this was a COVID project and man did he do it right! Not only did Paul do it right, but he also built one heck of a Capri that proves you don’t need a Fox-Mustang to create something cool. In addition to building sick fox bodies, Paul is also a business owner and shares a little about how one can be successful and what it takes to build flourishing businesses. 
The Foxtoberfest ’23 Best in Show was significant because broke history in two ways; 1. It is the first time there was a tie and 2. For the first time, a non-Mustang Fox won. 
This was a great episode. Paul is a solid guy and a great conversationalist. I guarantee you will get something out of this episode.

Episode 52.) This week, we had the pleasure of talking with Andrew Mungo. 

You may recognize his car by the unique shade of Area 51 blue paint. Andrew is rattle-canning his car, in his driveway. A 100% DIY’r, he is building this car to be driven and reliable. His goals for this build are both aggressive and achievable.

We talk about how Andrew came to become a fan of Foxbodies and what drove him to pursue this direction for his build. Andrew has plans to launch a really cool business (for us car guys) next year.

Episode 49.) This week, we spent some time with the world-famous Tom Clark, better known throughout the community as @sinisbuilt.   
A lot of ground was covered; everything from getting the confidence to try and do something, when you don’t have the money to pay someone, to #foxbodypeople. We even included self-checkouts…

Episode 91.) This week we had the distinct privilege of getting to know Rich Blomberg, the man behind Dad’s Foxbody Garage. 

We talk about his love for Mustangs, how it started, and how he is a third-generation gearhead. Rich shares some difficult parts of his life with us and how Foxbodies helped him through those moments.

Episode 48.) This week, we enjoyed speaking with Nicole, known as @lilwhitefoxbody on Instagram, and her family.  

Nicole and her husband, Jonathan, are both Foxbody fanatics and heavily involved in the Detroit Foxbodys group.

Nicole explains how she fell in love with the Foxbody platform and the circumstances surrounding how her car came to be. You will hear a familiar story of how this car brought her out of a deep sense of loss (her mother passed) and how it helped facilitate her FLAWLESS build! 

Don’t tell Jonathan, but I think his wife’s GT is cooler than his.

Episode 46.) This week, we talk with Michael Johnson. You may recognize his red GT from Motor City Fox Fest, where he won best original 87-93 Mustang. 
Michael is a Detroit native, born and bred.  He discusses growing up in the Motor City, during the Foxbody’s heyday. Seeing all kinds of Mustang mules and finding interesting one-off parts throughout the city, to escaping gang violence. He also discusses how his love for the Fox platform developed and what has kept it going all these years! 
Michael also has one heck of an 80/90s movie paraphernalia collection.

Episode 45.) This week, we hand the podcast over to the ladies. There were no requirements, no stipulations; we gave the ladies the keys to the proverbial Fairmont Wagon and asked them not to crash it. They ran the show.
In doing so, this week we get to hear a different perspective of the Foxbody community and car culture in general. We were honored to bring back long-time friends of the Asylum: Jenn (@foxtoberfestcarshow), Kate (@kategclef), Jess (@boomerangstang) and Kaitlyn (@kaits5.0). Together these ladies tell some great stories, provide some cautionary tales, and if one listens close enough; provide interesting perspectives, that may change the way you see certain things.
