| Forest Therapy, Embodying Nature, and Regulating Your Nervous System With Robyn of Awaken To Nature-FYW65 | 18 Sep 2025 | 00:59:58 | |
More About Robyn With a combined background of Environmental Studies, Counselling, and Somatics, this work has been a core part of my life for nearly two decades. It all began when I experienced a profound opening to the healing and transformative power of nature connection in my early 20s. Following a traumatic period of my life, a series of synchronistic events led me to live off-grid in the temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia in a log cabin. For six months, I lived immersed in nature and experienced deep nervous system re-patterning and spiritual awakening From that time on, I knew that my life's work was to dig into the wondrous healing power of nature connection, and I have studied, practiced, and taught this ever since. I am also a mother to three girls, and have worked as an Addictions Therapist, Domestic Violence Crisis Counsellor, Forest School Instructor, and teacher of my ancestral British & Irish animist traditions. My academic background includes Nature & Forest Therapy, Environmental Studies, Women's Studies, Herbalism, Counselling, Social Work, Somatics, Ecotherapy, and Psychology. Most importantly, I have spent thousands of hours in direct communion with nature and wilderness in Europe and North America, which has enabled me to process trauma and reshape my life. My most profound and heart-opening relationships have been with the rocky shores and temperate rainforest of the Pacific North West, and the mountainous, boggy Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The spirits of these landscapes continue to be my greatest mentors, and have formed me to have affinity with mountain, island, deep forest, coastline, and sea-scapes. These experiences and education have provided me with a strong understanding of the intricate relationships between ourselves and the natural world. Embodied nature connection is extraordinarily potent, and I believe it is one of the most impactful ways for us to make meaning out of our experiences, navigate challenges, and create holistic wellness. Other essential elements of my life include being a single mother to my three incredible daughters, an on-going inquiry into my ancestral ways of knowing (Gaelic animism), and somatic exploration of living through Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and treatment. I live alternately between the traditional unceded Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Squamish Nation territory, North Vancouver, British Columbia, and traditional Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory, Awaken to Nature offers courses, experiential circles, and other resources on Ecosomatics and Animism (ancient British Isles traditions). | Miniature Wonders: Capturing Nature in Art with Nayan And Venus of the Paper Ark- FYW60 | 16 Jul 2025 | 01:00:41
More About Nayan and Venus: Their collaborative efforts combine a passion for wildlife and paper art to create intriguing miniature paper sculptures. Currently, Nayan and Venus reside in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India) Nayan and Venus are most known for their 1000 Feather's project, a self-initiated endeavour to develop 1000 species of creatures over the period of 1000 days. Their work is represented in numerous esteemed publications and websites and has been exhibited in North America, Europe, and Asia. Artist's Statement As artists deeply inspired by the wild, we create miniature paper sculptures that celebrate the breathtaking diversity of Earth's wildlife; one tiny cut at a time. Over the past eight years, we have created more than 1,500 miniature artworks, each layered with 20+ cuts of archival paper and detailed with watercolours to capture the soul of each creature. Our art is not just about precision or beauty; it's a call to look closer. At a time when many species are disappearing faster than they're discovered, we want to hold space for their stories. From vibrant parrots to elusive amphibians, our creations aim to spark curiosity, admiration, and a deeper sense of care for the natural world. Working from our home studio in India, we bring together the fine details of wildlife observation with a constantly evolving paper technique. Through "The Paper Ark, we hope to build a bridge between people and nature, where even the smallest artwork can carry the weight of a powerful message. We believe that art can make you fall in love with what you may never see in person. And when you fall in love with something, you fight to protect it. The facility includes two separate holding facilities with a total of 14 tanks ranging in size from six to 12 feet in diameter. This facility is not open to the public. Because the beaches of Brevard County are among the world's most important nesting areas for sea turtles and the largest in the United States, a significant number of animals are found with injuries and illnesses each year. About 100 patients are seen at the Healing Center each year. Patients are brought to the Healing Center for a variety of reasons-they may be recovering from a boat strike, interaction with human debris such as fishing line or plastic, or debilitation. In addition to providing much-needed rest, experienced staff and dedicated volunteers use a combination of medication, surgeries and nutrition to nurse the turtles back to health and, ideally, return them to the water. Click here to help us care for our patients by purchasing an item from our Amazon wish list! Sea turtles are a defining part of our community, and the Sea Turtle Healing Center is integral to the rescue of these beloved animals! More About PJ: PJ Sieswerda carries forward the legacy of his father, Paul Sieswerda, with a deep, lifelong passion for the ocean. His love for marine life began in childhood, sparked by diving adventures and tropical fish-collecting trips around the world. From swimming with Great White Sharks at Guadalupe Island to exploring historical and cultural landmarks across the globe, PJ has always sought to connect people with the wonders of the natural world. As Visionary Director of Gotham Whale Inc., PJ is dedicated to bringing ocean conservation to life through powerful storytelling, immersive experiences, and artistic collaborations. He has produced inspirational events that celebrate marine conservation, including theatrical showings of Ocean Angels, a film highlighting his father's groundbreaking work. By merging art, performance, and education, PJ engages diverse audiences and motivates them to think globally, act locally, and protect our oceans. With a strong belief in the power of creativity to drive change, PJ works with artists, performers, and conservationists to inspire action in support of Gotham Whale's mission of research, education, and advocacy. His leadership brings fresh energy and bold vision to the future of Gotham Whale, ensuring its impact grows beyond the waters of the New York Bight and into the hearts and minds of people everywhere. Join PJ and the Gotham Whale team in making waves for marine conservation. Whether through donations, sponsorships, or volunteering, you can be part of a movement that safeguards whales and their ocean home for generations to come. More About Gotham Whale: A fearless founder with a dream. Since Paul Sieswerda founded Gotham Whale, it has expanded to research the whales of NJ and NY in the waters of the NY Bight. Gotham Whale maintains a database of marine mammat sightings from their observations that started aboard the American Princess, and today includes seven whale watch companies, along with many community science contributions. Gotham Whale is proud to keep The NYC Humpback Whale Catalog which identifies individual whales from photographs of their flukes. We track the species, location, and behavior to gain insight into the whales as they come closer and closer to the Big City. Paul was a fan of and fell in love with the oceans through watching Jacques Cousteau and became a diver at a young age. Collecting data and research for aquarium exhibits, he traveled the world from the arctic, to the Caribbean to Africa - making many friends along the way. He is the accomplished author of "Stranded," a fiction novel about a whale research organization, as well as a children's book titled, "Big Whale, Big City." Today, the team at Gotham Whale carries on Paul's legacy by growing our efforts and making an impact. | A Woman Among Wolves; Studying and Tracking Wolves in Montana with Diane K. Boyd-FYW49 | 13 May 2025 | 01:05:27
More About Diane: World-renowned wildlife biologist Diane Boyd has spent four decades studying and advocating for wolves in the wilds of Montana near Glacier National Park. In the 1970s, she was the only female biologist in the United States researching and radio-collaring wild wolves. With her two dogs for company, she faced the rigors of the Montana winter in an isolated cabin without running water or electricity. Boyd fearlessly forded icy rivers, strapped on skis to navigate thick stands of lodgepole pine, and monitored wolf packs from the air in a tiny bush plane. She faced down grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolverines—and the occasional trapper—as she stalked her quarry: a handful of wolves making their way south from Canada into Montana. Resourceful and resilient, she matched wits with the wolves and negotiated with locals as wolf populations grew from the first natural colonizer to the thousands of wolves in the West today. | Foxes Are Not Good Pets And The Truth About Fur Farms With Nicole Navarro Of Pawsitive Beginnings- FYW48 | 08 May 2025 | 00:58:07
More About Nicole: Nicole Navarro's passion for animal welfare and rescue began at a young age, nurtured by her upbringing on a sprawling horse farm in Western Pennsylvania. Her journey with foxes started in 2018 while volunteering at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm in Key West, Florida. It was there that she recognized the urgent need for dedicated sanctuaries capable of providing lifelong care for foxes rescued from the fur trade. Determined to make a difference, Nicole founded Pawsitive Beginnings Inc. in March 2020, creating a safe haven where rescued foxes can heal, thrive, and inspire change. More About Pawsitive Beginnings: Pawsitive Beginnings provides a safe and nurturing permanent home for foxes rescued from the fur trade. In some cases, fur farmers choose to surrender foxes deemed undesirable or "rejects" due to deformities or inadequate fur quality. These animals, often discarded by the industry, find refuge with us, where they receive the care and respect they deserve. We collaborate with organizations in regions where fur farming is prevalent, offering placement assistance for foxes in need. When we are unable to provide direct sanctuary, we actively network with reputable rescues and sanctuaries to ensure that each fox is placed in the hands of a qualified caregiver. Under no circumstances do we purchase foxes from fur farms, as doing so would only contribute to the continuation of this industry. Our mission is to rescue and advocate without financially supporting the practices we work to end. | Glass Blowing, Sobriety, and Fish As Inspiration with Martin Gerdin | 01 May 2025 | 01:33:59
More About Martin Gerdin: Martin Gerdin was born in a small town in the Colorado Rockies. Raised in the wilderness, his childhood fostered a love for the natural forms and colors that surrounded him during his youth, especially those in the rivers. He began blowing glass in 2008, when he discovered the studio at his high school. Fascinated by the material, he spent every spare moment learning and absorbing as much as he could. Being an avid fisherman, blown glass fish were a natural progression in his artistic journey. As he grew, he lost his way. Addiction clawed it way into every aspect of his life, and he lost the vision of the future. Doing craft shows and drinking enough to prevent seizures due to alcoholism became the norm. On May 13th of 2020, he decided enough was enough. After addiction treatment he fell into a crowd of young, sober fly fishermen. With a clear head and a fresh perspective, he strived to bring the beautiful wild salmonids he saw to life; in glass. Since his sobriety date he has made close to 700 fish, making his own tools and trying to push the limits in sculpting realism. Being only 31, his journey is just beginning… For More Ways To Connect With Martin Gerdin: Instagram: @martin_gerdin_glass Facebook: http://facebook.com/people/Martin-Gerdin-Glass/61558763206335/ YouTube: http://youtube.com/@martin_gerdin_glass Website: https://www.martingerdinglass.com Intro/Outro Song- Call Of The Wild - by Luke Rain and Sarah Conner https://open.spotify.com/track/Ofya9VdYHv90T1NTMMU1UF?si=BFUGJuCQ8ikzGW4A78MUA Check Out Our Merch! More About Sarah: Sarah has been working with wolves for over 8 years. Her journey began when she was asked to do reiki healing for 3 new wolf dog rescues. It was then she was brought in with their resident Gray wolves that would forever change her life. Growing up being bullied and being an abuse survivor, she felt like she never quite fit in. It wasn't til the day she came face to face with Lomasi, a 100% pure gray wolf, that she felt like she was finally home and where she belonged. Through her passion for wolves, she found an incredible community of people that share that same admiration. Finding out about wolf hunting and inhumane practices, being an abuse survivor and having the wolves become family, she knew she had to be a voice for them. What started as just wanting to share her love for wolves with a few friends grew an audience to be able to share that love and education to people all over the world. "As someone that never had a voice being bullied and abused, the wolves helped me find my voice," Sarah said. She has not only taken her circumstances and become a voice for wolves, but has turned that into a healing practice to help others heal from pain and trauma. She hopes her voice to help create more voices and help protect wolves and wildlife in our ecosystem. | North Carolina's Wild Red Wolves, Ethical Wildlife Photography and More with WildlifeWithAspen-FYW40 | 03 Apr 2025 | 01:03:40
More About Aspen: Hi! My name is Aspen and I am a wildlife guide at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, photographer, and canid coexistence worker. I grew up in North Carolina and went to Wake Forest University for biology, where I specifically studied wolves and coyotes. I worked heavily in Winston Salem on coyote-human interactions and coexistence. Additionally, I studied carnivore ecology and coexistence in Tanzania. This year, I also worked for Wildlands Network on a red wolf project, where I monitored a trail camera project dedicated to studying the relationships of wolves and other species on the landscape. That gave me the opportunity to learn the refuge and individual wolves well. I'm trained in wildlife tracking as well, which comes in handy on the refuge. | Takaya, The Lone Wolf; And How His Life and Howls Inspired A Movement With Cheryl Alexander-FYW39 | 01 Apr 2025 | 01:10:03
More About Cheryl & Takaya: In 2012, a lone wolf appeared on an island near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. When he first showed up on the island, local authorities said he couldn’t survive. There were no deer to hunt, no year-round source of fresh water. They said that he would be a danger, as he was so close to the city. They debated shooting him. Yet somehow, against the odds, the wolf found a way to survive and thrive, demonstrating remarkable resilience and adaptability. This wolf is known as Takaya. For eight years, conservation photographer and naturalist Cheryl Alexander observed and documented Takaya’s life on the island. She produced a documentary about the wolf, entitled “Takaya: Lone Wolf,” which premiered on CBC’s Nature of Things in October 2019. The documentary was subsequently broadcast on BBC in the United Kingdom and on ARTE in continental Europe. The film has also been featured in several film festivals and has received widespread critical acclaim. Takaya’s story touched people around the world. There was something about his presence and bearing, his beauty and independence and elemental wildness, that deeply moved people. Following the broadcast of the film, people began to spontaneously create artwork in honour of Takaya. They sent their artwork to Cheryl, often including personal messages about what Takaya’s story meant to them. In January 2020, for reasons unknown, Takaya left the island and swam to the city’s shore. He wandered the streets of Victoria for two days. (To see a map of his path through the city, click here.) On his second day in the city, he was tranquilized and relocated to the wilderness on the west coast of Vancouver Island. In March 2020, Takaya was shot and killed by a hunter near Shawnigan Lake, approximately 50 kilometres away from where he was originally released. His death sparked outrage and deep sorrow among the global community that had gathered around him. Artists from Vancouver Island and beyond were inspired to create visual tributes to honour the life and legacy of this remarkable wolf. This artwork was featured in the Takaya Lone Wolf International Arts Festival on October 24-25, 2020. Takaya’s Legacy Project was established in order to celebrate Takaya, to share his story with a wider community, and to showcase the stunning and diverse collection of tributes that have been created in his honour. This organization will extend Takaya’s legacy by raising funds to support organizations that preserve wild spaces, protect wild creatures, and end the recreational and government-mandated killing of wolves. I listened to her and did just that...that was the start of the most amazing journey into Wildlife Photography. I now travel around the world with Apex Adventures photographing incredible wildlife in some beautiful countries including the UK. | Connecting With Animals, Releasing Your Wild Self, and The Ziva Method with Aliana Ziva Seeger-Madsen-FYW31 | 04 Mar 2025 | 01:23:38
More About Aliana: I am Aliana Ziva Seeger-Madsen, an animal medium with a lifelong connection to animals, both living and those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My journey began in childhood, where I communicated with horses, which have always held a special place in my heart. I started my career as a humane and equine physiotherapist and established my own business in my twenties, dedicating my life to these magnificent creatures. Horses have guided me, reminding me of my true self and purpose. Growing up with a horse whose voice I could always hear, I felt a profound bond that persisted even after her passing. Despite my natural ability to sense spirit, I initially suppressed my gifts, unsure how to navigate them. It wasn’t until I acquired a Danish warmblood in my mid-twenties that I fully embraced my calling. In 2018, a transformative energy clearing session led me to embrace my identity as an animal medium. My mission is to be the voice of animals, helping them communicate their messages to their human companions. I offer online services where clients can connect with their pets, both living and in spirit. All I need is their name and a brief description of their animal to facilitate this connection. I have been honored to work with various clients, including celebrities in the U.S. and members of the horse, dog, and cat communities. I joined Maria Menounos on her podcast Heal Squad, where I communicated with her dogs remotely, and assisted actress Breanne Hill with her horse. Additionally, I had the privilege of going live with Gabby Bernstein, where I communicated with her cat.
I have appeared on various podcasts, sharing my insights and experiences in animal mediumship. My recent work includes participating in the documentary Kyro the Dog, which explores the unconditional love between dogs and their humans, even after they have passed. Living in the Danish countryside with my husband, daughter, horses, and cats, I strive to create a lifestyle where my passion for animal mediumship thrives. I travel often, bringing my work with me, and love meeting new animals and connecting with clients around the globe. Animal mediumship is not just my profession; it’s my life’s work. I take great pride in listening to animals, understanding their health and emotional needs, and sharing their truths. They are the true experts, and I am here to amplify their voices. Join me on this journey into the world of animal mediumship, where together we can uncover the wisdom our beloved animals have to share. | Respecting the Ocean and Its Creatures, Freediving, and Keeping Cetaceans Wild with Maria & Isa of the OceanGalz-FYW29 | 25 Feb 2025 | 01:03:34
Ocean Galz Two Best Friends, Exploring the Ocean World Together OceanGalz was created by us, Maria and Isa, October 2021, driven by our shared love for exploring the ocean. What began as a way to preserve our underwater memories quickly grew into the @oceangalz social media page, which has now become a community of over half a million ocean lovers on TikTok and Instagram, lovingly called our Ocean Fam. We started as snorkelers, but our passion for the ocean led us to explore even deeper. Today, we freedive and scuba dive all over the world, capturing the beauty and wonder of marine life. Spending hours in the ocean every day, we couldn’t ignore the reality of its declining health. This inspired us to turn OceanGalz into a platform to raise awareness about marine conservation, especially for those just beginning to understand these issues. We love sharing the beauty of the ocean and what it feels like to dive beneath the surface, feel weightless and free, and connect with the wonders of marine life. These moments of connection with nature, with each other, and with ourselves are what make the ocean so magical. But we also highlight the challenges our ocean faces and teach others how they can help. We believe that inspiring others to love the ocean is the first step toward a collective effort to protect it. Through OceanGalz, we organize expeditions and adventures, inviting people to explore the depths and share unforgettable underwater memories with us. We collaborate with brands to create impactful partnerships and use the social media strategies we’ve mastered to help them grow their online presence. We also host trash and dive cleanups, partnering with organizations to make a tangible difference while teaching our Ocean Fam how to get involved. OceanGalz is more than just a social media platform. It is a community, a movement, and a way of life. With every video we share, every connection we make, and every moment we spend in the ocean, we work toward a more sustainable future for our seas. Join us on this journey to protect and preserve marine ecosystems for generations to come! | Shaun’s Journey: From Reptile Store Owner to Volunteering In The Amazon and Creating the Yox2 Experience- FYW27 | 18 Feb 2025 | 01:24:00
From The Description of Shaun’s New Short Documentary: “As you may know or if you don't know, I used to own an exotic reptile shop in Waco, Texas. This was like no other also known as the first black owned reptile facility known to Texas. I ended my four years of running the shop because I gained a new perspective for the animals I love and wanted to do more for them by putting forth my efforts to wildlife conservation in South America which you will see here in this film. This was probably one of the hardest challenges l've faced in my whole career, but remember you're only young once and challenges will be forever, but the beauty of life is being able to continue trying and prospering after you make it through those challenges. | Sea Otters Against Climate Change,Marine Biology, and Protecting The Southern Residents with KP aka KPassionate- FYW26 | 13 Feb 2025 | 01:02:25
More about KP: A marine biologist and animal behavior expert with a decade of experience in the field. But being a marine biologist isn't just working with amazing animals like walruses, sea lions, and sea otters. It’s also about people. Everyone who sees a sea otter or beluga whale up close ends up forming some sort of connection to them. It’s my job to build on that connection and use it to educate people about these wonderful animals and the fragile ecosystems they call home. This all changed during the pandemic when many facilities and resources were closed. So I started streaming on Twitch in October of 2020 as a way to fill that void. Soon, I discovered a community of people who share my passions for animals and the environment. Every show is different! Sometimes we break down viral animal videos or discuss the latest animal news. We also play community games and host zoological AMAs. I also started filming and producing YouTube videos that are primarily focused on educating people about different marine life and the interplay between conservation and climate change. For example, my 'Deeper Dive' series has explored how sea otters are red/green colorblind, the logistics of marine mammal rescue, and how reintroducing sea otters to their historic range can help reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide. KPassionate grew beyond my wildest dreams. Within a year, I was not only a Partner on Twitch and YouTube, but even had one of my viral videos named the #1 TikTok That Made People Smile in 2021. More importantly, I used this following to raise over $35,000 for organizations dedicated to ocean conservation! | Connecting With Cheetahs, Animal Rehabilitation, and Living Your Dream with Lisa Kytösaho-FYW23 | 04 Feb 2025 | 00:57:55
More About Lisa: My name is Lisa Kytösaho & I am a photogapher, wildlife carer and rehabilitator. I am originally from Sweden but living in South Africa, since 15 years and focus on big cats and other african wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release. I have been a photographer for 27 years, starting as a passion and hobby and turned into a occupation. My favorite things in life have always been the same: ANIMALS Since a young age I realised my facintion and love for animals was unique and I was drawn to always be around them. I would rescue injured birds and rehabilitate them at home, I would go and feed lizards and frogs in the pond and be around any animal I possible could at any given moment. My very first pet was a mouse. Second pet was a Rabbit that I named Joker. My parents did not like to have a lot of animals but we did have a Green Iguana named Dino, Ludde the mouse, later bunnies !! and then also our beloved family dog Rex. I started riding when I was 6 years old, and never stopped. I got myself my first horse and it was a dream come true for me. My first internship was at a horse stable, my second internship was at a pet store, then my third internship was with training dogs for the police & military where I later continued to work on school holidays. That was my first payed animal job. Then I worked at a animal farm with rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, horses & cows amongst other animals. I also have the sanctuary & rehabilitation centre open for any wildlife which is injured or orpahaned. My way, philosophy and vision is always to rehabilitate for them to go back into the wild. If this is established not an possibility, I do my best to provide the individual the correct natural and species determent enviroment to continue to live a meaninful life and thrive even within an managed setting. Other interest which lies close to my heart of course is photography and especially Wildlife Photography. I am at current utalizing my photography skills to sell eco friendly prints - for further conservation benifit. I spend my internship in Namibia working with African Wildlife rehabilitation. Got the first taste of this life and dream job! My first cheetah release back into the wild is what made me decide. I knew ecaxtly what I want to do with the rest of my life! I now own and run my very own farm, sanctuary facility and rehabiliation centre, always with focus on release back into the wild. I am sorrounded by nature and wildlife in my everyday life, working hard to develop my area. And that is how my story began! | The Evolution of Horses, Creating Authentic Art, and The Empathy of Horses with Nica Quinn of NicaDrawsNature- FYW21 | 28 Jan 2025 | 01:03:27
More About Nica: “My imagination carries me to lands far away.... to connection with energies that I am still trying to understand. My body is the vessel in which I am blessed to experience this life in, and it carries me to far away places, to connect with people, cultures, and landscapes that I can store in a bank of sweet memories and senses.” I am from Wisconsin, and although that’s where I was planted and grew strong roots, I knew I wouldn't stay. After college, where I got my Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, I booked a one-way ticket to New Zealand, which was the first of many countries I traveled over the years. I met my Scottish now-husband there, and now his homeland is where I reside today, along the windy west coast, acclimating to the mild and wet winters and the mild and wet summers. This land holds me in the unfurling of the next chapter. My journey with horses has been one from a distance for most of my life, but after being a trail guide in different places, wanting to share the special connection of being on a horse in nature with others, my perspectives shifted thanks to my catalyst, Merlin. I still have the vision of connecting people with nature and horses, but the ways in which I do that have drastically shifted over the years, and I have opened up to a whole new way of being because of it. When I began to see what is wrong with the industry, with what we normalize doing with and to horses, I couldn’t unsee it. It felt like someone slowly tearing pieces of my heart away in small chunks at a time, one revelation after the next... For How I Loved Horses Was Not Love At All. I took their symbolism of freedom as my own, using their bodies to carry me to liberation, through forests, over mountains, across beaches. A ride of a lifetime, Yes, But now it’s time to slow down, Walk beside them, And relearn from the ground up What it means to be free, truly free.
