62. Decision Making 2.010 Sep 202400:11:50

Over the last few years, I've had to make some major life decisions, anywhere from deciding to leave corporate, to moving cities, to ending a marriage. Through those series of big major life decisions, I've learned to recalibrate how I approach decision making.

Sometimes we get too into our heads, leaving us with a lot of decision fatigue and keeping us stuck. In this episode, I explore a more holistic, yogic way of making decisions, that moves away from cognitive / brain thinking, into incorporating our whole body intelligence in making decisions. Hopefully this episode will help those move forward in a different way.

Find Your Path podcast is back, with a refreshed look and feel! 🥳 It's been about a year and a half since my last podcast episode and my time away was really intentional. It was a much needed sacred pause that allowed me to burn things down and allow myself to rebuild again.

In this episode, I share all the different life changes that I've undergone on the backend (infertility, separation/divorce, solo international travels, my spiritual pilgrimage through the Himalayas, completing yoga teacher training).

If you're looking for some inspiration, considering taking a sabbatical for yourself, or need a push, you'll definitely want to tune into this episode.

48. Working When You’re Sick02 Aug 202200:13:36

I got the inspiration to record this episode of Find Your Path because of a couple of coaching clients that have been getting sick – either with COVID or other illnesses.

It became clear to me. The thoughts that were present, the actions that followed, the pressure we put on ourselves to push through and continue to work, especially if you are like a type-A high-achieving person.

So, in this episode, I'm talking about working while you're sick and how we can reframe how we see working when we're not feeling the best.

44. Generalist Vs. Specialist24 May 202200:24:12

Are you a generalist or a specialist?

If you believe that you are a generalist, you think of yourself as the jack of all trades. On the other hand, if you’re a specialist, your niche is too narrow and you may not be able to advance in your career. These are the usual concepts that come to our minds whenever we talk about the difference between these two. What about you, are you in the middle of the trenches thinking about whether you’re a specialist or generalist or where to take your career next?

In this episode, I will be talking about how to know if you’re a specialist or a generalist. I will be sharing some tips for companies to know what kind of employees they need to hire. This episode will remind you that if you’re in a limbo of deciding on whether to be a generalist or a specialist, all you need to have is the honesty within yourself to recognize what are your strengths, where you want to focus and all the other external factors which might affect you.

Tune in to this episode and share it with someone who is at the crossroads of deciding whether to be a specialist or a generalist.

42. Burnout Prevention and Recovery with Duncan So26 Apr 202200:52:45

With “hustle culture” and expectations on “being productive,” we’ve been given messages that we need to push and work ourselves to exhaustion. Rest and slowing down is often de-emphasized in today’s overly connected world. But, what if we don’t need to work ourselves to exhaustion before we finally realize that there is a better way of doing things? What if we could take preventative steps to avoid burning out? If you are feeling like you’ve been burning the candle at both ends lately, know that you are NOT alone.

In this episode, I am joined by Duncan So, co-founder of The Burnout Clinic who is an expert in workplace well-being and burnout recovery.  He also delivers clinical burnout experiences to help workplace leaders quickly recover from burnout and empower their careers. We tackle a myriad of topics ranging from what burnout really is to identifying indicators that you are experiencing burnout. We share perspectives on what organizations and individuals can do in order to prevent burnout.

Join us for an enriching conversation with tangible techniques to combat these signs of burnout.

36. Career Competition Against Your Partner01 Feb 202200:19:56

Are you in career competition with your partner? Do you consciously, or maybe unconsciously, compare where you are at professionally against where your partner is? There's such a lack of literature on this topic, so I wanted to shed light on this topic, as I oftentimes see this pattern occur in my private coaching sessions. The beauty is, we have the ability and power to shift this dynamic, starting with how we see the situation.

35. The "Dream Job" Myth25 Jan 202200:15:02

In this episode, I want to dispel the notion and perspective we have about "dream jobs." The words and language that we use matter, and by using this term, we subconsciously ascribe comparison and finality to our careers, when there's so much more fluidity than we might think. If you're beating down on yourself about not being in a "dream job" or finding yourself in a state of comparison with others about it, tune in to hear a different perspective and to help you reframe a way to look at it.

33. What They Don't Teach You in Business School21 Dec 202100:25:59

Before dropping a pretty six-figure penny on business school (or any educational degree for that matter), I want to share very openly and honestly what you will NOT learn from school. School will and WON'T teach you certain things. In my opinion, the biggest thing that's missing is learning how to brand and advocate for yourself, and manage your own mindset. 29. Am I bragging? Fact vs. Opinion09 Nov 202100:24:52

Some people have lots of internal blocks and barriers when it comes to speaking about themselves. They feel icky when talking about themselves in interviews, writing about their experience on resumes, or going up to bat for themselves during performance or promotion conversation. If you feel weird speaking about yourself in any of those situations, it comes down to the thoughts behind it. So, if this is you then this episode is for you. Let's clean up some of those thoughts, shall we?

27. Slow Down to Move Fast02 Nov 202100:28:50

Hyper growth. Blitzscaling. Growth Hacking. These are all buzzy words that we're so accustomed to hearing about - especially in Silicon Valley, where constant and continual growth is the "standard," and if we're not moving quickly, then something is wrong. But there is so much benefit in being able to slow it down, in working to build a strong foundation and in being able to re-center and calibrate. I dive deep into all the thoughts about going fast and going slow in today's episode to help you re-think the need to constantly move at 150mph.

26. Bamboo Ceiling26 Oct 202100:31:49

I finally feel ready to go on the record about this topic after a lot of healing :) A pretty dense topic where I share areas that Asian Americans need to be cognizant, how they can build up that muscle and what's needed to bridge the gap in white corporate America.

25. Finding Your Path19 Oct 202100:26:15

Returning to the roots of why I started this podcast (and cheers to my 25th episode!): what it means to find your path. We live in a society where we're so conditioned to gain acceptance from others, causing us to mirror or follow along what other people do because we want that sense of safety and belonging. When finding your own path, it can be painful. In this episode, I share common blockages where people fall short, and provide perspective and shifts to help you move forward.

59. What it Means to Find Your Path31 May 202400:13:50

Reflecting on all that it means to step into your truest self and honor your own unique journey. Many times we are pressured to follow what other's want of us, which prevents us from living and enduring the life we really want.

Start living for yourself and get clear on what your path is.

In this episode, I talk about the common hang ups that keep people stuck, and provide perspective shifts to get you moving forward, faster.

21. The Great Resignation21 Sep 202100:30:49

We've been hearing a lot about the Great Resignation - where roughly 1/2 of employees are thinking about resigning from their jobs and employee engagement is at an all time low.  In this episode, I normalize the conversation and share different perspectives from an employee, manager, and organizational level. Bottom line - you aren't alone, and please take care of yourselves.

20. Reflections on my Mom's Retirement14 Sep 202100:33:45

My mom retired last week, after a 40 year long career working in corporate America. I can't help but share and reflect on all the different lessons and stories from her retirement, how it's affected me and my perspective of work - and also as an Asian American woman. Tribute and shout out to my mom for letting me talk about her journey and experience!

19. What's In It For Me?07 Sep 202100:22:28

How do you get people to start caring about things in the workplace that they aren't excited about or bought into? Whether it be a bad manager, a un-collaborative team member or an organization that only cares about the money - how does one go about changing behavior? In this episode I talk about the WIFM question, and how that alone can change and shift people's way of operating. When they know what truly benefits and boomerangs back to them, they might be more incentivized to change.

18. Academia vs. Industry31 Aug 202100:29:45

Most people have been told and given thoughts about pursuing education or pursuing industry - and it's those very stories that show up in how people make decisions in their careers. In this episode, I talk about the process of de-conditioning the thoughts we have about both academia and industry, so you can bring more consciousness and create more intentional decision making.

58. Death and Liberation15 May 202400:29:40

Death is one of the biggest fears for most people, but it's also a wonderful teacher. In this episode, I share different perspectives on how we might look at death from the yogic philosophy. Death can be seen as the ending of a cycle which allows us to appreciate and become more present of the now - which then liberates us from fear.

Oh the unpleasant workplace experiences. More often than not, individuals from marginalized and underrepresented groups tend to be on the receiving end. In this episode, I define and provide examples of each of these terms so individuals can create awareness of their own experiences and have the common language to spot it out. Fear not, it also gives actionable steps on where to go from after being victimized from those experiences.
