Title: Jesus the Troublemaker
Author: Rev Andy Roland
Narrator: Peter Walters
Format: Unabridged Audiobook
Length: 3 hours 37 minutes
Release date: November 7, 2022
Genres: World Religions
Publisher's Summary:
'Jesus the Troublemaker' is an immersive account of the dramatic last week of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, or rather Yeshua Ish-Natzaret. He was a Galilean Jew who spoke Aramaic with a northern accent. Full of dramatic incidents and confrontational dialogues, the book uncovers many events behind the bare record of the Gospels of Mark, Luke and John. For example, why did Yeshua arrive late at the Temple for his triumphal entry? Because he had just walked 18 miles uphill from Jericho! Why were the chief priests so hostile to Yeshua? Because his clearing the traders out of the Temple was not a one-off demonstration, it was a four day occupation! Why are there different accounts of the first Easter Day? This is solved by the simple question, Where was Simon Peter? Sister Hilda Mary wrote, 'Well! Holy Week has come alive in a new way and will never be the same again. The book has finally removed set images and confusions stuck in my mind from so many years and something much more vibrant and alive has replaced them.' Premier Christianity wrote: 'The main section of the book is a narrative account of Jesus’ last eight days, written as fiction but still faithful to the Gospel accounts …. If Andy Roland’s desire is to bring the story of Jesus alive to a new audience and answer questions about the cultural context, the book succeeds.'

'What Rama says once he carries out; there is no looking back.” Rama to Kaikeyi “Only the timid and the weak leave things to destiny but the strong never bank on destiny or luck.” Lakshmana to Rama The epic poem, by Maharishi Valmiki Muni, narrates the life of Lord Rama, a legendary prince of Ayodhya city in the kingdom of Kosala. The epic follows his fourteen-year exile to the forest urged by his father King Dasharatha, on the request of Rama's stepmother Kaikeyi. He traveled across forests in the Indian subcontinent with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. Rama endured the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana – the demon king of Lanka, which resulted in a great war; and Rama's eventual return to Ayodhya to be crowned king amidst jubilation and celebration. The Ramayana is one of the ancient epics in world literature consisting of nearly 24,000 verses. It is considered to be the Adi-kavya (first poem) depicting the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, ideal servant, ideal brother, ideal husband and ideal king. The Ramayana was an important influence on later Sanskrit poetry and Vedic life and culture. There are many versions of Ramayana in Indian languages, besides Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain adaptations. There are also Cambodian (Reamker), Indonesian, Filipino, Thai (Ramakien), Lao, Burmese and Malay versions of the iconic tale. Author: Julian Of Norwich
Narrator: Sister Wendy
Format: Abridged Audiobook
Length: 1 hour 7 minutes
Release date: April 6, 2021
Genres: World Religions
Publisher's Summary:
Originally recorded in 1993, this is a remastered digital audio of BBC TV's Sister Wendy Beckett's narration of Dame Julian of Norwich's Christian Classic Revelations of Divine Love. This is an abridged version from the translation by M. L. del Mastro published by Burns and Oates. Sister Wendy said, 'When I was at Oxford I studied Julian in the original and it made a great impression on me. My copy was a very small, leather bound book, and it had the lovely smell of sandalwood that old books sometimes have. Julian is forever associated in my mind with the smell of sandalwood, and I hope that a sandalwood smell comes across in this recording!' Sister Wendy Beckett was a British religious sister and art historian who became well known internationally during the 1990s when she presented a series of BBC television documentaries on the history of art. Her programmes, such as Sister Wendy's Odyssey and Sister Wendy's Grand Tour, often drew a 25 percent share of the British viewing audience. In 1997, Sister Wendy made her US debut on public television and that same year The New York Times described her as 'a sometime hermit who is fast on her way to becoming the most unlikely and famous art critic in the history of television.' Julian of Norwich (1343 – after 1416), also known as Dame Julian or Mother Julian, was an English anchorite of the Middle Ages. Revelations of Divine Love is the first written in English by a woman.

Author: Mustafa Akyol
Narrator: Neil Shah
Format: Unabridged Audiobook
Length: 9 hours 18 minutes
Release date: May 3, 2021
Genres: World Religions
Publisher's Summary:
In this book, Mustafa Akyol, senior fellow at the Cato Institute and opinion writer for The New York Times, both diagnoses “the crisis of Islam” in the modern world and offers a way forward. Diving deep into Islamic theology, and also sharing lessons from his own life story, he reveals how Muslims lost the universalism that made them a great civilization in their earlier centuries. He especially demonstrates how values often associated with Western Enlightenment?freedom, reason, tolerance, and an appreciation of science?had Islamic counterparts, which sadly were cast aside in favor of more dogmatic views, often for political ends. Elucidating complex ideas with engaging prose and storytelling, Reopening Muslim Minds borrows lost visions from medieval Muslim thinkers, such as Ibn Rushd (aka Averroes), to offer a new Muslim worldview on a range of sensitive issues, including human rights, equality for women, and freedom of religion, or freedom from religion. While frankly acknowledging the problems in the world of Islam today, Akyol offers a clear and hopeful vision for its future.

Author: Eugenia Price
Narrator: Nan Mcnamara
Format: Unabridged Audiobook
Length: 6 hours 23 minutes
Release date: April 29, 2021
Genres: World Religions
Publisher's Summary:
With revealing, dynamic insight, Eugenia Price searches for God’s own answers for modern times. The familiar Gospel words breathe with new life as she cuts through the superficialities of those who attempt to deemphasize the Bible and draws up sharp guidelines that twentieth-century Christians can follow. Each of Miss Price’s favorite Gospel verses is included in the book, followed by her reflections on them. Her exposition of the beloved King James passages rings with authenticity and poetic authority. In the preface to Learning to Live from the Gospels, Miss Price writes “You will find little or no information here concerning who wrote and who did not write the Gospels as we know them. You will find no scientific verification of the miracles—not even a defense of them. God’s activities need no defense from us. There are no scholarly apologetics, no exegeses of the more obscure passages of Scripture. I do not know how to do any of this. I find it enough to attempt to learn how to live by the passages I do understand. Having met Christ when I was well along on my earthly journey, what has held my interest from the beginning of my life with Him has not been how to analyze or criticize the Bible, but how to learn to live from it … I know of no better place to learn how to live than from the four provocative Gospel accounts of the earthly life of the God who loved us enough to become one of us.”

The scholars in this volume explore the phenomenon by drawing from each other's work to understand better the multi-faceted nature of non-affiliation today. The book also features insightful perspectives from parents of young adults and interviews with pastors struggling with this issue who address how we might address this trend. Empty Churches provides a rich and thoughtful analysis on non-affiliation in American society from multiple scholarly perspectives. 'Once again give me this earth, once again the sky and universe, once again this land blessed by the moon, once again this land of plenty.' The Rig Veda 'Whenever we take birth, may our deeds be such that we get a pure mind, long life, good health, vitality, intellect, strong sense organs and a powerful body. In next life also, keep us away from bad deeds and indulge us in noble actions.' The Yajur Veda 4.15 'One who conducts noble actions obtains noble lives in next births with strong body and sharp intellect. Those who conduct bad deeds get birth in lower species. To experience the fruits of past actions is natural trait of soul. After death, the soul resides in Vayu, Jala, Aushadhi etc. and again enters the womb to take next birth.' Athar Veda 5.1.2 Death - it comes to us all. it is a sacrifice for the good life we lead at the end of our long fortuitous road. Or is it? For millenniums the yogis of India following the ancient Vedic path have clearly spoken about what we call in the west- life after death. To the unenlightened materialist life begins with birth and ends with the final inevitable dissolution of the gross material body. But to the enlightened ones ordinary life and death are seen as nothing particularly special - and at most the unclouded end of the infinite beginning. It is true that some of the more virtuous and godly among us may escape the never ending wheel of repeated birth and death however most are commanded to return to this material world by the process of reincarnation, or if they are particularly unlucky hover around this gross material sphere for untold eons as homeless, restless, disembodied, hopeless, spirits. It is of these unfortunate souls to whom we address this most unique Icon audiobook presentation. Here for the first time is the secret yoga of the ghostly realms and our rebirth beyond.. Publisher's Summary:
Experience God’s Unstoppable Breakthrough and Blessings! You may be facing an issue that seems like an insurmountable mountain in your life. Or, your circumstances may be so difficult you feel surrounded by walls with no way out. You ask God to knock down those walls, just as He did for Joshua at Jericho. But they’re still standing. Sometimes, God removes the obstacles from our lives immediately and dramatically. But what can we do when the mountain doesn't move, when the breakthrough doesn’t come, when God’s promises aren’t fulfilled, even when we pray? That’s when we have to plant ourselves in God’s Word and presence and let Him take us over our mountain! The breakthrough starts as our roots grow deep. This is what Joseph did when he was in the pit and the dungeon. “Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; his branches run over the wall” (Genesis 49:22). He grew over his wall, his mountain, by adopting a heavenly perspective rather than an earthly one. The result was a multitude of blessings for him, his family, and the world. You can rise up over your own mountain of difficulty, opposition, or hindrance. As you do, that mountain won’t look as high as it used to. Every negative situation will divinely position you to be where you need to be in life. You will rise over circumstances you thought were too powerful for you. You will rise over the wall of limitation that once surrounded you. You will rise over the dead end or impossibility that threatened to defeat you. The trials of life have no power to stop you from being abundant and fruitful in God, receiving His blessings, and fulfilling the plans He has for you. Then, your breakthrough will become a breakthrough and blessing for others, too, enabling them to rise over their own mountains of difficulty.

Release date: April 27, 2021

Publisher's Summary:
Eugenia Price embodies this Spirit in words that make The Acts a joyous revelation. Something extraordinary happened to the men and women in this New Testament book, ending their grief and filling them with sudden courage. From the moment they poured into the streets on Pentecost to the time of Paul’s last words from prison, Jesus energized these early Christians from within. Their lives reveal the triumphant story of how the church began to “happen,” and in those first conflict-torn, joy-filled days, we are able to see how it was meant to be, even now, for those of us who call ourselves Christians. Miss Price writes “Why it is not this way for us now, or why it is, at best, only this way now and then, I feel we must decide. I find little or no doctrine in the Acts, but I do find life, and great and simple helps in learning to live it.” Learning to Live from the Acts is a sequel to the author’s book, Learning to Live from the Gospels.

Baba Ram Das / Author 'BE HERE NOW' Ram Krishna Das Vaishnaba, or Dude Dehari Baba, or Milk Baba was so named because he lived forty-five years entirely on one small cup of milk per day. No other food ever passed his lips. Baba lived in a small room by the Bagmati river at Pashiputinath temple, five kilometers outside of Katmandu. His beautiful matted hair, or jata, was over twenty-six feet long. Baba was a lifelong devotee of Lord Rama and God Brother and confidant of Neem Karoli Baba, the iconic guru of Baba Ram Das. Lord Rama, also known as Ramachandra, is the seventh avatar of Krishna, one of his most popular incarnations along with Parshurama, and Gautama Buddha. Rama was born to Kaushalya and Dasharatha in Ayodhya, the ruler of the Kingdom of Kosala. Dude Baba was always chanting the name of Rama and was a master musician and great singer of bhajans. In 1993 he met American devotee author Jagannatha Dasa and subsequently travelled to his farm community in Lockport, New York for a six-month residency at the SRI ashram there. While there Dasa arranged for Baba to begin a mammoth two week recording session with a host of popular Indian musicians in order to get his collected bhajans down on tape for posterity. Recorded too were several inspirational lectures. Here then is the fruit of a lifetime spent as an ardent servant of Lord Rama and liberating transcendental vibrations of a pure devotee.

Length: 6 hours 1 minute
Release date: April 13, 2021

Publisher's Summary:
We live in a secular age, a world dominated by science and technology. Increasing numbers of us don't believe in God anymore. We don't expect miracles. We've grown up and left those fairytales behind, culturally and personally. Yet five hundred years ago the world was very much enchanted. It was a world where God existed and the devil was real. It was a world full of angels and demons. It was a world of holy wells and magical eels. But since the Protestant Reformation and the beginning of the Enlightenment, the world, in the West at least, has become increasingly disenchanted. While this might be taken as evidence of a crisis of belief, Richard Beck argues it's actually a crisis of attention. God hasn't gone anywhere, but we've lost our capacity to see God. The rising tide of disenchantment has profoundly changed our religious imaginations and led to a loss of the holy expectation that we can be interrupted by the sacred and divine. But it doesn't have to be this way. With attention and an intentional and cultivated capacity to experience God as a living, vital presence in our lives, Hunting Magic Eels shows us we can cultivate an enchanted faith in a skeptical age.

I can grab my prevailing emotion and tell you how I'm doing from that emotion's point of view (joy, elation, sadness, grief, confusion—you name it!). I live and breathe a kaleidoscope of living, feeling, conflicting emotions.' Many times Fours are labeled 'emotionally intense' or 'too much,' but for a Four this is just how life is. This is why Fours are ideal companions in the midst difficult times: the death of a loved one, the birth of a baby, transitional seasons in career, relational conflict, and so on. The Enneagram is a profound tool for empathy, so whether or not you are a Four, you will grow from learning about Fours and enhance your relationships across the Enneagram spectrum. Each reading concludes with an opportunity for further engagement such as a journaling prompt, reflection questions, a prayer, or a spiritual practice.

Publisher's Summary:
Educated meets The Vow in this story of liberation and self-empowerment—an inspiring and stranger-than-fiction memoir of growing up in and breaking free from the Children of God, an oppressive, extremist religious cult. Faith Jones was raised to be part a religious army preparing for the End Times. Growing up on an isolated farm in Macau, she prayed for hours every day and read letters of prophecy written by her grandfather, the founder of the Children of God. Tens of thousands of members strong, the cult followers looked to Faith’s grandfather as their guiding light. As such, Faith was celebrated as special and then punished doubly to remind her that she was not. Over decades, the Children of God grew into an international organization that became notorious for its alarming sex practices and allegations of abuse and exploitation. But with indomitable grit, Faith survived, creating a world of her own—pilfering books and teaching herself high school curriculum. Finally, at age twenty-three, thirsting for knowledge and freedom, she broke away, leaving behind everything she knew to forge her own path in America. A complicated family story mixed with a hauntingly intimate coming-of-age narrative, Faith Jones’ extraordinary memoir reflects our societal norms of oppression and abuse while providing a unique lens to explore spiritual manipulation and our rights in our bodies. Honest, eye-opening, uplifting, and intensely affecting, Sex Cult Nun brings to life a hidden world that’s hypnotically alien yet unexpectedly relatable.

Publisher's Summary:
Tulsi Devi (Holy Basil) is a sacred plant in Hindu belief. She is regarded as an earthly manifestation of the goddess Srimati Tulsi Devi, and is as an avatar of Lakshmi, and thus the consort of Vishnu. The offering of her leaves is mandatory in worship of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Tulsi is regarded as the holiest of all plants and a bridge between heaven and earth. A traditional prayer teaches the creator Brahma and the Ganges resides in her branches, all holy pilgrimage centers in her roots, all deities are in her stem and leaves, and the Vedas are found in the upper part of her branches. The Tulsi herb is a center of household devotion, and is often referred to as the 'women's deity' and 'a symbol of wifehood and motherhood.' Vaishnavites consider it as the manifestation of god in the plant kingdom. Tuls Devi is one of Krishna’s most intimate servants coming to bless us all with extraordinary fortune. She has delicate purple and green leaves, flower tassels (like miniature temple spires), and an arresting, sweet fragrance famous for attracting the minds of yogis to Krishna’s service via Bhakti Yoga. Tulasi’s wood is carved into the japa beads on which devotees chant Krishna’s holy name. Devotees wear strands of Tulasi beads around their necks. Her leaves and flowers decorate the deity of Krishna in the temple and are placed on food offered to Him. Tulsi Devi has taken the form of a tree so that everyone, even the poorest person, can offer something wonderful to Krishna. This is her divine, mystical story.

In the early 1970s, a boy from a Conservative Jewish family joined the Church of Scientology. In 1981, that boy officially left the movement and ultimately transitioned into a woman. A few years later, she stopped calling herself a woman—and became a famous gender outlaw. Gender theorist, performance artist, and author Kate Bornstein is set to change lives with her stunningly original memoir. The audiobook includes a new epilogue. Reflecting on the original publication of her book, Bornstein considers the passage of time as the changing world brings new queer realities into focus and forces Kate to confront her own aging and its effects on her health, body, and mind. She goes on to contemplate her relationship with her daughter, her relationship to Scientology, and the ever-evolving practices of seeking queer selfhood.
