6.3 — Appreciation + The Magician

Season 6 · Episode 3

lundi 16 septembre 2024Duration 40:55

The Magician is a card of manifestation, creativity, and willpower. But what does that mean outside the lens of patriarchy and capitalism, which teach us to over-power and exploit?

In this episode, I explore Magician work through the lens of working with rather than working on — collaborating rather than dominating. Whether we’re embarking on a creative process, a magical working, or a connection with another being, appreciating their unique gifts and nature is essential if we want to build a healthy, cooperative, generative relationship. Understanding how our tools, ingredients, and collaborators operate is key. And understanding our own nature and power is too.

In this way, Magician work becomes a conversation with elements, ingredients, creatures, and environments, and a divine process that allows us all to express our truth and realize our potential.

6.2 — Power + 9 of Wands

Season 6 · Episode 2

dimanche 1 septembre 2024Duration 51:22

What does it mean to carry power responsibly? And what does grounded power look like? In this episode, I explore the 9 of Wands and its relationship to struggle. A card of resilience, grit, determination, and courage, this card evokes the image of the warrior — a traditional depiction of power. It’s visceral and intense. But like fire itself, power can become dangerous and contagious when unchecked, burning out of control and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Ethically wielding power means rooting in compassion and grounding ourselves. It’s like having water nearby, and constructing a fire pit out of rocks to contain the flames before we strike the match. Those measures allow us to burn safely, and to harness the creative power seeded our sacred rage.

5.15 — Intuition + The Chariot

Season 5 · Episode 15

mercredi 29 mai 2024Duration 32:36

Our tarot card of the week is The Chariot, and it’s complemented by the Intuition oracle card, shedding light on the lunar energy of this tarot archetype. Chariot moments often involve decisions and preparations — we set our sights on the path ahead and then gear up to lurch forward.

That process is often a very intuitive one. “What path should I take?” And, nodding to Cancer, it often calls for an inner check-in. “Do I have the emotional capacity to make this take this path? Am I resourced enough to face the potential consequences of this decision?"

Asking these questions and can prepare us for aligned action if we're connected to our intuition. But if we're facing self-doubt and fear, we might get stuck in analysis paralysis and avoid taking action at all. I talk about my own relationship to intuitive decision-making, divining for myself, and waffling when I'm facing a scary choice.

5.13 — Full Moon in Sagittarius

Season 5 · Episode 13

vendredi 24 mai 2024Duration 48:57

It’s our last lunation episode! These Full Moon/New Moon readings are moving over to Patreon starting on June 6, with our New Moon in Gemini. You can become a “Community” supporter for just $4/month to access them + my weekly Patreon-only episodes, AKA the Four of Wands podcast.

In this episode, I cover the themes of today’s Full Moon in Sagittarius, which is buoyed by a beautiful cradle, featuring big-hitters Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Aquarius. After I talk astro, I get into our usual three-card tarot spread for this lunation.

Note: I recorded today’s reading thinking it would be for patrons only, so I framed many of my statements that way. Hope it’s not too confusing! Enjoy.

5.12 — Peace + King of Swords

Season 5 · Episode 12

mercredi 15 mai 2024Duration 38:02

In this week’s Tarot Tuesday episode, I talk about returning the heart to the King of Swords, a figure that’s often described as heart-less. They don’t have to be! And our oracle card, Peace, shows us why. The sword can be wielded to shield our hearts and protect our peace, like setting a boundary with a loved one or performing a cord-cutting to release a connection, as I did today. And it can be used to fight for justice and love, as Palestinians and protestors around the world are demonstrating. How will you use your sword?

5.11 — Limitation

Season 5 · Episode 11

samedi 11 mai 2024Duration 33:02

This week’s feel is Limitation — the experiencing of holding yourself back from what or who you desire for fear of not being enough. Our accompanying tarot card is the Nine of Pentacles, which is oh so appropriate. A card of independence and self-reliance, it can represent an abundant but lonely life. In this episode, I talk about how self-limiting beliefs and fears of all kinds can prevent us from choosing the road less traveled.

5.9 — Happiness + 4 of Swords

Season 5 · Episode 9

mercredi 1 mai 2024Duration 32:06

Our card of the week is the Four of Swords, connected to Jupiter in Libra. A card of rest, reflection, and (often) solitude, it’s got me thinking about breakups, and an old phrase my mom would say to me whenever I was grieving a loss: “People enter our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” The Four of Swords can teach us about impermanence, and the beauty in loss. When we lose someone, we often gain a whole lot of self-knowledge that we can carry with us on our journey toward deeper fulfillment and joy.
