Sophie Flack Take a walk me down Fascination Street Podcast, as I get to know Sophie Flack. I was first introduced to Sophie as a result of a conversation with previous guest Yul Vazquez. Sophie is a former member of The Corp De Ballet with The New York City Ballet. After she retired from that, she got a degree from Columbia University, and then wrote a best-selling Young Adult novel called Bunheads, which explores the intricacies and heartaches of the life of a professional ballerina. Sophie has written for multiple magazines and publications about her experiences and has helped shine a light on some of the ways that these dancers are treated. Fairly recently, Sophie started a jewelry company which focuses on pieces that help de-stigmatize mental health and eating disorders. Her company is called MAD FINE, and some of the pieces include 'in the know' references to: Zanex, Klonopin, Prozac, and the abortion pill. She has pieces that align with emotional baggage, and even silly trophies. All of these pieces are designed to bring these issues to light and for the wearer to engage in conversations with like-minded individuals. These pieces are stunning, and unique. My personal favorite is the mixed metals cassette tape! Sophie is very vulnerable in this conversation. She openly discusses her previous battles with anorexia, self-doubt, and thoughts of suicide. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Drew Arnott. In this episode, Drew and I chat about his growing up between Scottland and Canada, and why. Then we do a bit of a deep dive on the unique and rare instrument called The Mellotron. Drew shares some fun and nutty stories about his own Mellotron, and then we get into why he and Darryl Kromm started Strange Advance in the first place. Strange Advance signed a deal with Capitol Records and released TWO albums; having never played a single live show. Drew explains how that is even possible, and why that happened. The first THREE records released by Strange Advance sold GOLD in Canada, and then they stopped making music..... for 33 years. I ask Drew what the heck happened, and he gives me the deets. Strange Advance has released a new record. Thier fourth record, aptly titled 'Strange Advance 4' is out now, and is a banger! Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know the Boston Shoegaze band Jimrat. This group of musicians got together in the Boston area after meeting in college, and various music scenes. Jimrat consists of: Sam Dvorin, Josie Arthur, Emma DeLaRosa, Elicia Benavides, and Tim Ro. In this episode, I get them to tell the story of how each of them came to be in the band. Since they each came along in a fascinating way, they tell the story 'popcorn' style. All of them have recently graduated or are still in college. They basically went to different schools. We got musicians from Boston University, Suffolk, Berkley, and Emerson. Throughout the episode, each of them explains how they came to Boston, and why most of them equate the city to living in Albuquerque! From Covid, to the cartoon Tom & Jerry, these young guns talk about everything. Finally, we discuss their new album. It's called 'Instant' and is 'an audio-visual album'. Each of the 11 tracks on the record have a corresponding video component, that all culminate in a 35-minute-long sensory experience like no other. They even let me play one of their favorite tracks from the record! J. Logan Austin
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know J. Logan Austin. In this episode, we chat about why Logan, and his partner Dustin created Crazy Ant Farm Media, and what they hope to accomplish with this production company. We also talk about film & television, being a storyteller, and his two podcasts. His first podcast is called 'Inside The Crazy Ant Farm', and it deals with entertainment news, rumors, stories, and general fun in and around show business. The second podcast is called 'Everything's Okay', and it deals with anxiety, depression, loneliness, and overall mental health. We briefly touch on Logan's upcoming wedding, and a bizarre and petty feud between Martin Scorsese and the rest of Hollywood. Logan tells me more about Crazy Ant Farm Media's pending projects, including: an hour-long comedy, a short film, a feature film, and even a half hour animated comedy. This guy is BUSY! For some reason, Logan starts to interview me about halfway through; but what matters is that you should check out his two podcasts, and the cool stuff on their You Tube channel.

Chris Larson
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as l get to know Chris Larson. Chris has a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from NC State and a degree in Economics with high honors from Princeton. He is Senior Director of clean Energy at Dynapower; a leading developer and manufacturer of grid scale power electronics solutions and power conveters, and recently celebrated its 60th year in 2023. In this episode we get to know why Chris decided to get into the clean energy space, what exactly Dynapower does, and why it's important work. We get into everything from: very large, and very small micro grids, to full scale battery solutions, to developing & harnessing hydrogen energy, and even electric car chargers built into the roads. We even discuss why clean, or green energy is so politicized. This is a wildly fascinating conversation, where we end with a story about Chris being a cotton smuggler! Bill Wiese
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know New York Times Best Selling author Bill Wiese. On November 23rd, 1998, at 3 am; Bill went to hell. Several years later, he wrote a book about his experience there. In this episode, we chat about a crazy shark attack he survived (unscathed) in Florida as a young man, and how it affected his relationship with surfing. Then we jump right into his out of body experience, trip to hell. He describes in great detail what the trip was like both getting there and getting back. Bill also shares his very detailed account of the sorts of torture that he experienced while there. During this episode, he does share some lighthearted and fun stories, and what he feels his mission is after this experience. I ask him why he thinks he was chosen for this, as well as some tips on how to steer clear of that place. This is the most religious heavy episode ever to be released on Fascination Street. I am not a super religious guy, but when I ran across Bill's story, I had to know more. Bill also has a weekly podcast called '23 Minutes in Hell', as well as Bill Wiese TV on You Tube. In this episode, we chat about the SAG - Aftra strike, his creative solution to ending pay inequity in the film & television industry, and various projects of his. We dive into HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, and what makes him love to go to work on that show, and the massive respect he has for Danny McBride, and how the show is run. Then we take a slight detour to talk about our mutual friend, and previous guest Joe Lafferty. James shares fun stories of working with; and being friends with Nick Offerman, Danny Pino, and Michael Chiklis, before we jump into his experiences working with Tracee Ellis Ross, and Reggie Hudlin, on the Eddie Murphy led, Amazon Prime film Candy Cane Lane. Emily first gained recognition in the pop punk bands Generic Asphalt, and Plinky; before gaining world wide acclaim as the front woman for Tsunami Bomb, and later The Action Design. In this episode, we chat about her getting into music at a very young age, how she came to be involved in each of those bands, and some stories from the road. She also explains what it was like to play a ridiculous number of Van's Warped Tour shows. We also touch on why she moved to San Antonio, Texas, and how that opened the door for her to have her very first Christmas tree as an adult! Then we get into her newest band, Survival Guide, and her new album Death Dreams. I love this album; so we talk about a good bit of it. She explains why she used some household items as instruments on some songs, which songs are actually about death dreams, and she lets me play my favorite track from the album. Plus, she talks about teaming up with a San Antonio country band, to play some shows, and release a song together! Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know even more about Makenzie Phipps. This is a return episode, so we don't start from the beginning of her story. If you missed it, go back and check out her first appearance on the show (7/3/23). Makenzie is a country music singer, songwriter, and musician. Her music has been featured on Country Rebel, as well as television, radio, and all of the streaming platforms. In this episode, we chat about what Makenzie has been up to since we last spoke. One of his college professors, is one of the most highly regarded, and respected actresses of all time! Even his cell phone number used to belong to a time traveling super star. We discuss some of his projects, including Friends, and Star Trek. Elliot tells me about the differences between working on Friends one week, and Star Trek the next. He shares fun stories from the set, working with: Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, and Jonathan Frakes. Of course, I ask him to tell the story of how "The D. Elliot Woods Rule" came to be, and how he set the bat for Wal Mart commercials. Finally, we dive into his new novel: Rise of the Unicorn. This book is a fantastic suspense thriller. We also discuss how the show changed his life, and some of the behind the scenes secrets of his cooking show Dig Daddy's House; which ran for several seasons on The Food Network. Aaron tells stories about growing up in Camden, NJ, and some of the crazy antics he got into with his sister's Easy Bake Oven! After growing up in Jerusalem, Israel and moving to Miami, David became an international arms dealer; sourcing arms & munitions for The United States Army, to help supply wars and conflicts in The Middle East. In this episode, David tells me how exactly this came to be, how successful he was at it, and how he ended up getting into some serious trouble with The U.S. Department of Justice. David was looking at the possibility of more than 300 years in prison! David's story became the inspiration behind the 2016 film War Dogs, directed by Todd Phillips; starring Miles Teller as David. The film was based on an in-depth article written by Guy Lawson, for Rolling Stone magazine. We also discuss his post arms dealing career as an inventor and entrepreneur. David founded Singular Sound, a company that develops and manufactures innovative new products for musicians. Singular Sound products have garnered huge accolades in the music industry, and continues to rank among the top companies that musicians swear by. Singular Sound's first and most notable creation is the BeatBuddy "Drummer in a Foot Pedal" device that was actually inducted into the Guitar Player's Hall of Fame in 2015. She went to law school, then started her own paralegal company in Los Angeles. At the same time, Lorraine was beginning her acting career. Lorraine has appeared in dozens of film and television roles over the course of her storied career. Then one day, on a whim, she posted a video of her winning a nice little slot machine jackpot. The video went viral, and yet ANOTHER career was born! Drawing on her growing up near Yonkers Racetrack, she knew gamblers, and the gambler mindset. Some of his art is inspired by automobile racing, some is inspired by iconic athletes; but all of his pieces are themselves inspiring. In this episode, Stewart takes us on a journey of finding that thing in life that pulls you, that part of you that won't be ignored. He shares with us the path that led him from California's North Bay (Chico) to Utah (BYU), and the artistic steps along the way. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Jeremy Swift. You may know Jeremy from Downton Abbey, Apple TV's Ted Lasso, or the Wachowski Siblings' epic Jupiter Ascending. But you may not know that Jeremy is arguably a more talented musician, than he is an actor.
Just kidding. He is superb in both endeavors!
In this episode, we chat about how he came to be an actor, and some of his first roles. I mean he toured with a cabaret troupe that played shows in various prisons! Holy Moly! Of course, we discuss some of his experiences on the previously listed projects, and a couple of others. I ask him what it is like to work with his wife on set, and he spills the beans on Ted Lasso season 4!
Jeremy also shares the story of why he chose to get his Sag / Aftra card, and his upcoming film: "Descendants 4: The Rise of Red".

Next we get into music. Jeremy started playing music at a very early age, and we definitely dive into that aspect of his creativity. Jeremy shares stories of his punk phase, seeing The Sex Pistols live, and his thoughts on the "Oi!" movement of the late 70's. Jeremy has a new album out called "Songs of Escape and Endless Night", which is catchy as hell. We discuss a couple of the tracks from that album, and he lets me play my favorite song from it. In this episode, we chat about how the band formed, and how they got their first record label contract. Then we talk about the insane success of their first album, Sinner, which was certified platinum six weeks after it was released. Then we touch on the mega-hit 'Bodies', and how it keeps popping up in popular culture. It was featured in a recent episode of Queen Latifah's television show The Equalizer (on CBS), and it was just used by Shaquille O'Neal in his latest rap single release. It's called Matchmaker, Matchmaker, and she co-hosts the love advice show with the Rabbi Yisroel Bernath (The Love Rabbi). Finally, we dive deep into her experiences on the Netflix reality dating show Jewish Matchmaking. She gives us some behind the scenes secrets, her thoughts on a couple of the cast members, and how she came to be part of the show. This episode has one of the most unique endings of any episode I have ever done. It ends with Aleeza giving me (and you) a personal blessing!! How cool is that!

Randee Dawn. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know Randee dawn. Randee is a journalist and author. In this episode we get to know Randee from her early days in Bensonhurst Brookly, to her NPR day, and even her beginnings as a music journalist. Randee shares stories about working with The Trashcan Sinatras, and Adam Schlesinger. She tells us about how her music fan attitude led to her working with the band Ivy, which turned into some really fascinating online blog projects. Then we discuss how she came to write for Alternative Press magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Soap Opera Digest, basically at the same time. In her soap opera journalism career, she covered: One Life To Live, Another World, and maybe just a bit on Passions!. Naturally I ask her about her interviewing Vincent D'Onofrio about the Forest Witaker TV show The Godfather of Harlem. Even though Randee made a bit of a name for herself writing Law & Order speculative fiction, that didn't come up in her interview with Vincent. Finally, we dive into Randee's books! Besides having developed an audience in the speculative fiction area, Randee Dawn has written a bunch of books. Her fun and dynamic storytelling has gotten her multiple novels published in a relatively short period of time. 'Tune In Tomorrow', 'Don't Touch That Dial', 'Leave No Trace', and 'The Only Song Worth Singing' have catapulted Randee into a new level of popularity. In this episode, Pam and I chat about her growing up with one of the worst diagnosed cases of Tourette Syndrome on record, and how that helped her develop an unparalleled resilience. Pam shares fun stories from Jewish summer camp, experiences as a comic, and how she became a diversity & inclusion keynote speaker for businesses, and organizations. Pam tells a couple of stories about being a comic with a serious disorder, and then we jump into her experience on Netflix's Jewish Matchmaking. Did Pam already know the matchmaker beforehand? Maybe. Was Pam kidnapped at Jewish Summer Camp? Definitely. Pam was a lot of fun to talk to, and she was kind enough to not judge my ignorance about Tourette, and answer all of my dumbo questions about it. Stuart is a singer / songwriter in the Chicago area, as well as a cast member from the recent Netflix reality series: Jewish Matchmaking. In this episode, Stuart and I chat about his music. We discuss his previous album: Next Exit Brigadoon, and then dive into what made him want to become a songwriter in the first place. We talk about his newest record: Secrets, lies, & Alibis; and discuss the creative freedom that songwriters enjoy. We take an odd detour to talk about a recent news story where Stuart somehow caught the attention (and ire) of Ben Shapiro; and Stuart shares his thoughts on the matter. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know middle grade author Kacy Ritter. In this episode, Kacy and I chat about her growing up traveling the world and visiting countless European castles. Then we delve into what it takes to be a writer. She humors me by discussing her first attempt at writing a novel. She wrote nearly 90,000 words and then scrapped the whole darn thing. I spend most of the episode telling her how to release it, and under whose names to do so; while Kacy tries to keep us on track to discuss her NEW book: The Great Texas Dragon Race. When I say 'new book', I mean it! This book comes out TOMORROW. We talk about why she decided to write this book, and why she chose this specific age range for her stories. We also talk a little about her forthcoming novel: The Marfa Monster Mystery. The plots of both of these books are refreshing and unique, and I can't wait to read them! I think you, or someone you know will be excited too! Lastly, we nerd out about a mutual favorite place to visit called Meow Wolf. It's one of her and her husband's favorite places, and one of my wife's and mine as well. The Great Texas Dragon Race comes out Aug 1st from Clarion / Harper Collins.

Dale is the writer / director of the upcoming television series 'In Through the Out Door'.
In this episode, we chat about his career. Starting as a music video director in the Detroit area, Dale made a name for himself in the music scene and quickly became a 'go to' for music videos. We touch on Dale's early struggles with dyslexia, and how he overcame some of those obstacles. Then we talk about a couple of documentaries that Dale made a few years ago; one was about the homeless population on Skid Row in Los Angeles, and the other was for National geographic about the return of wolves into Yellowstone national park. Of course, I ask him all about his feature film Hello, My Name Is Frank, which is a road trip comedy about a man with Tourette Syndrome. Then we move onto his newest project: In Through the Out Door, which is In Through the Out Door stars: Garrett M. Brown, Martin Copping, Christine Kilmer, and Jesse C. Boyd. Dale is very frank, open, and honest about his struggles with dyslexia. I applaud him and appreciate his generosity and candor. Thank you, Dale.

In this episode, we chat about her growing up on Long Island, Ny., and how she became a professional ice skater for The Ice Capades. Next we move onto how she met her husband; who was an adiv street racer. Dina shares some street racing stories that helped convince her husband to stop street racing, and get onto the track. We explore what made Dina fall in love with the sport of drag racing, and how she evolved into a Pro Mod World Champion. Of course we discuss her 3000 hp Cadillac named Stella. In this episode, we chat about how she started singing and playing the piano at a very young age, and the woman who pushed her and inspired her to become a singer, and a songwriter. With a minor focus on hymns, and gospel songs; Makenzie also writes and performs Christmas songs and country songs; including 'Amazing Grace', "Drag", and "A Little of Both', Makenzie was also recently awarded the 'Songwriter Achievement Award' in 2022 from The Josie Music Awards; for the unreleased song: 'Life's Game'. The woman that inspired Makenzie and this award-winning song was her Maw Maw; so we talk a bit about Maw Maw and her debilitating disease of Alzheimer's. Makenzie shares her feelings on how this disease affects the entire family, and she picks up a guitar and plays 'Life's Game' LIVE! In this episode, we chat about how growing up surrounded by the Amish inspired her to become a storyteller. Then we get into a small tangent about her being a rally car co-driver in the Paris to Dakar Rally! We get back on track and talk about some of her books, and then dive headfirst into her films. Carolyn is a documentary filmmaker who has a passion for telling stories of hope, inspiration, and heroism. We discuss her films: Defining Hope, The American Nurse, In Case of Emergency, and her upcoming documentary Catalysts. We go all over the place here folks; from sharing stories of those affected by HIV/AIDS, to hospice care, and the role that nurses play in all of our lives. This episode is at once touching and sorrowful, and I hope you enjoy every single bit of it as much as I did.

In this episode, we chat about her being the child of immigrant parents and growing up on the East Coast. We talk about what their hopes for their children were; and how those hopes panned out. I ask tons of questions about working with Dule Hill, Giancarlo Esposito, and the great Mario Van Peebles; and she explains how she restrains herself from acting like a smitten schoolgirl in front of these talented dreamboats! (My words, not hers). Next we move onto the subject of the writers' strike, and how it also affects the stage. Finally, Gisela tells us everything we need to know about this new touring revival production of 1776; where she plays Sam Adams. Plus, we talk about the diverse nature of this cast, and why this kind of 'out of the box' casting is necessary.

You know Eric from over 800 acting projects: including The Pope Of Greenwich Village, Runaway Train, The Specialist, The Righteous Gemstones, Star 80, King of the Gypsies, and several hundred more. You know his wife Eliza from many, many projects like: The Howdy Doody Show, Animal House, Lois & Clark, and Dr. Who; as well as casting and producing in a myriad of other film and television projects. In this episode, we get to know where and how each of them grew up, and what got them into the industry. We also get to hear their love story. I love finding out how couples met, and this is a great story! Next, we launch into everything from movies and TV shows, and their experiences on those sets. Eliza shares stories of trying to help spouses & girlfriends of actors feel more comfortable with their partners doing love scenes. Eric shares behind the scenes stories on the sets of The Specialist (with Sylvester Stallone), and The Expendables. Eric then gets Eliza to share stories of helping get George Clooney cast in E.R, and even helping to convince John Travolta to accept his role in Quinton Tarantino's Pulp Fiction! We discuss Eliza's kids (Eric's step kids); one has Pi Bakeshop in Los Angeles, and the other is a VERY accomplished musician. Naturally, we discuss Eric's experiences on the most recent season of Dancing With The Stars, and Eliza explains how KISS's Gene Simmons helped shorten Eric's time in the competition. Lastly, we talk about the book! 'Runaway Train: Or, The Story Of My Life So Far' is Eric Robert's memoir (with Sam Kashner). We chat about why he decided to write the book, and how much help Eliza was in getting him to do it, and actually getting it made. This is a real Hollywood POWER COUPLE! They share the workload, and the credit. It was super sweet getting to see them pass the credit to each other.

Born and raised in Ukraine, Natasha felt drawn to learn English at an early age and found an escape in acting not long after. In this episode, we chat about growing up in Odessa, before following a boy across the world to The United States. We discuss her rapidly growing acting career, which includes several films and television shows either out now or coming out soon. (Karaganda, Moms Rising, Immortality) She shares a few stories from the set of Jaime Foxx's directorial debut: All-Star Weekend; including motivational words from both Jeremy Piven and Jamie Foxx himself. Finally, Natasha shares her recent experiences as the bass player for the band Snowflakes, with her husband Martin. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know television and film screenwriter, Steven Kunes. In this episode, we chat about how Steven got into writing for Hollywood through a simple, yet sincere, reaching out to one of television's most iconic and prolific producer-screenwriters. We also get into some of Steven's writing credits, including: The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, A.K.A. Pablo, Kate & Allie, The Love Boat, Rain Main, Cast Away, and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Then we REALLY get into it. Steven tells me about the time he had some issues in his personal life that led to his losing everything and going to prison. Steven describes these events, and this period of his life as somewhat of a cautionary tale, and he even did a TED Talk about it. Finally, we discuss his new show on Amazon Prime (also released as an audio only podcast), called OVER MY DEAD BODY. Steven explains the premise of the show and we talk about some of the episodes that I listened to that made me subscribe. This is a redemption story, folks; a comeback tale of starting over in the later chapters of his life.

As the character "Ice" from the iconic reality competition TV show American Gladiators; Lori Fetrick kicked ass and took names. In this episode, we chat about her early life, growing up in 'the church', and how this monstor competitor was created! She tells us about her insane work ethic, her never ending motivation, and what led her to seek out one of the oddest jobs of the early 1990's. Lori shares how she became an American Gladiator, some of her fun stories about being a Gladiator, and what she has been doing since then. There are T-W-O recent documentaries about the American Gladiators, and she breaks them both down. One of them is a bizarre puff piece about the creator, and one is an actual legit docu-series about the show and the team. Finally, l grill Lori about her new podcast "Chillin' With Ice". We nerd out a little about podcasting in general, and then she explains why she started a podcast, and what she hopes to share with her listeners. I had so much fun with "Ice" that I can't imagine she won't come back on to discuss season two!

Having made a name for himself throughout the decades, he was even inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021. Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Laura Casselman. Laura had a dream at the age of 3 to become a Radio City Rockette. Fast forward 20 years, and a lot of hard work.... SHE DID IT! In this episode we chat about how this was even possible, and what she decided to do after her Rockette career ended. Laura is currently the CEO of JVZoo, co-founder of VidaStreet, and co-founder of Hestla Trades. She explains what all of these entities are, and what they do. Of course, we discuss Laura's new book Trust Your Increments: How Small, Consistent Steps Can Lead to Massive Success. Along the way, we discuss what it is like for women in the workforce, and what both men & women can do to help make things a little more equal in that area. Kevin Brewer
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Kevin Brewer. Kevin is a U.S. Navy veteran, who served for 7 years in multiple overseas duty stations; before being employed by both the Department of Justice (DOJ) & the Department of Defense (DOD). In this episode, we chat about why he joined the Navy, and what his job was in it. We discuss his duties as a cryptologic technician, and what his role was in narco terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking, counterintelligence, and counter terrorism. Kevin has Top Secret security clearance, and I ask him to tell me all of the secrets! He politely declines, and then we move onto his health issues. While serving in Afghanistan, Kevin developed several serious health issues which culminated in his gaining nearly 100 pounds, and an inability to exercise, run, or even walk to the refrigerator. He was in a pretty dark place both physically and emotionally. He ended up doing a ton of online research and began to figure out some things that turned his health around. Kevin changed his diet, adjusted his mindset, and sought out specialized STEM CELL treatment. Slowly things began to change. Kevin lost some weight, started narrowing down the food items that were triggering him and causing inflammation, and eventually lost the weight. He gives most of the credit to a change in his mental performance and adjusting his perspective. Now Kevin has acquired a depth of understanding with regard to 'Mental Performance Mastery' & 'Heroic Performance', as well as regularly competing in Spartan Races. Kevin's new mission is to share what he has learned and spread the knowledge he has gained during this process. He has a daily affirmation podcast called RISE AGAIN FROM THE STRUGGLE, which has released nearly a thousand 1–2-minute episodes of encouragement & inspiration. Griff Furst
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Griff Furst. Griff is: an actor, a producer, a screenwriter, and a director. In this episode we get his origin story. He shares stories from acting class, and how in a 'domino effect' sort of way, his career got kicked off from those classes. We chat about being a producer in that role's various incarnations, where he finds his inspirations for screenwriting, the difficulties managing a film set as it's director, and what he loves about acting.
