Jamika was born and raised in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, Jamika Scott is an advocate, activist, writer, and filmmaker and recently ran for Mayor of Tacoma. As a founding member of the Tacoma Action Collective, she works toward building an equitable city as a community organizer, and often incorporates her love of film into her social justice work. Jamika works to bring about that change, not just through her personal projects, but by volunteering on the Grand Cinema Board, the Tacoma Arts Commission, and the Tacoma Public Library Foundation Board. Jamika is someone who loves Tacoma dearly, she works every day to take steps towards actualizing a city where we all feel we can thrive. Whether it is in her work as a creative entrepreneur, a community organizer, or as an advocate, she values collaboration, equity, justice, and action.
