117 Everyday Adventures

Episode 117

mercredi 1 décembre 2021Duration 54:22

In this episode, I talk to Jason Frishman about his love of food, and his joyful role in helping men to create stories and capture the adventure of life.

After a recent diagnosis of several ticks and two different forms of Lymes disease, Jason has found himself on an extremely restrictive diet. Rather than let that get him down, he has embraced it and created lots of new recipes that he, and his family, can enjoy.

116 How to have a more environmentally friendly Christmas

Episode 116

mercredi 24 novembre 2021Duration 29:53

In this episode, I'd like to share my top tips on how to have a more environmentally friendly, and economical Christmas.

A bit of time with a pad and pen can make all the difference. Think about what meals you will actually be eating at home and how many people you are catering for, then make a list of what you are cooking and what you need to buy.

Also, there are lots of ways to reduce waste, by storing excess food and/or using it for leftovers.

114 Convenience Foods not Processed Foods

Episode 114

mercredi 10 novembre 2021Duration 17:31

I often talk about processed foods, and how we need to reduce them in our diet. However, that doesn't mean that you have to cook everything from scratch every time you cook. I have lots of convenience foods in my house and this week I'll share what they are!

Processed foods are foods that have been passed through a machine or process, that changes them from their original form.

Convenience foods are a wide range of products that you can stock your cupboards and freezer with to make life easier on days when you are busy.

113 Immune System

Episode 113

mercredi 3 novembre 2021Duration 30:17

We want our immune system to be working all the time efficiently. It should be responding appropriately to infections or viruses, and we often will not know anything about it. It is one of the most complex systems in the human body; a network of cells, tissues and organs that work together to defend us against foreign invaders.

In this week's episode, I explain the different parts and roles of the immune system, and ways that we can support it.

112 Positives of Cancer Survival

Episode 112

mercredi 27 octobre 2021Duration 44:12

In this episode, I talk to Chrissie Vanyo who shares her story of cancer, survival and how it prompted her career change.

Chrissie suffered throughout her treatment, partly due to her determination that cancer was not the word that defined her, so she didn't allow her body the space and time to heal. Also, partly because she wasn't sure what to expect and so didn't speak up quickly enough, when she was uncomfortable or in pain.

111 Vitamin D

Episode 111

mercredi 20 octobre 2021Duration 19:22

At this time of year, I start to talk to my clients (and friends and family and anyone else who will listen!) about vitamin D. Why? That's what I'm talking about on this week's podcast episode.

What does vitamin D do?

Vitamin D is considered to be a hormone, as it is converted into it's most active form in the liver and kidneys.

What can you do?

Get tested, and if necessary, supplement with a good quality vitamin D3, preferably with K2. Get outdoors and expose your skin for just 20 minutes a day, to optimise your levels in summer months.
