| Red Bull Drama, Thermal Club Boredom, NASCAR at Homestead | 28 Mar 2025 | 01:07:39 | |
On this episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk we kick off discussing the big news out of Red Bull that Liam Lawson is being demoted to Racing Bulls and replaced with Yuki Tsunoda after only two races. How bad of a PR move is this for Red Bull? Next, we discuss D.J.'s least favorite race on the IndyCar calendar, The Thermal Club. From the boring race to the power outage knocking the FOX broadcast offline, the poor ratings, and the Country Club race with limited attendance, why would they keep coming here? A little bit of off topic discussion comes in from the concept of Paw Patrol, D.J. and Erik's connection with Clifford The Big Red Dog's author, and Kangaroo Jack? Finally, we recap the Homestead NASCAR weekend and how Kyle Larson came so close to pulling off the three race sweep. ⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️: 00:00:00 - Red Bull Drama + Yuki Replaces Liam Lawson 00:08:25 - Racing Strategies and Fuel Management Insights 00:16:26 - IndyCar Season Highlights and Driver Performances 00:24:42 - Formula 1 Updates and Red Bull Team Dynamics 00:33:07 - NASCAR Viewership Trends and Race Analysis 00:41:42 - TV Shows and Pop Culture References in Racing 00:49:46 - NASCAR Playoffs and Driver Standings Discussion 00:58:53 - Upcoming Racing Events and Movie Releases --------- Wednesday Night Dash airs most Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. | NASCAR In Vegas, F1 in Australia, Brainstorming a New iRacing League | 21 Mar 2025 | 01:27:28
On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, Erik and D.J. start off going off topic looking at concerts and a surprise throwback name on the 2025 Lollapalooza schedule. Once they get back on topic, it was time to recap the NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas and the rainy chaos of the Formula 1 opening round in Australia. Is Kimi Antonelli the real deal? Next, we discuss our week in iRacing including D.J.'s unexpected return to the broadcast booth, Erik getting hosed by a software glitch, and the penalty flag that ruined Erik's Wednesday Night Dash. Finally, we are talking about bringing out a new iRacing NASCAR themed development league for new and inexperienced drivers to work with each other and build up their race craft to better compete in Wednesday Night Dash. You can hear our process out loud as we go through eligibility, and even the name. As an added bonus, we look at ways that NASCAR's Cup Series can become the Winston Cup again without it being a reference to the previous company (since legally that can't happen). We may have found a solution. ⏱️⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️:

| iRacing Rudskogen Motorsenter, 2023 Le Mans, Garage 56, NASCAR at Sonoma | 17 Jun 2023 | 00:39:34 | |
Erik and D.J. are back with another all-new episode of Garage Talk! In this week's episode, we kick off the discussion about our Wednesday Night Dash league at iRacing Rudskogen Motorsenter. The GT3 cars have been a challenge for our inexperienced driving and we agree that we can't wait for this season to end. We get into the discussion of the changes to the ARCA Menards series car in iRacing and how that will impact the racing style. Next, we talk about Le Mans and the confusion with the fact it actually is on Hulu. Then we talk about the coverage and how both the GTE and Garage 56 cars didn't get a lot of coverage and how the hypercars received most of the action on TV except for a handful of exceptions. Finally, we discuss Anthony Alfredo's scary crash from a stuck throttle during practice at Sonoma and are glad that he walked away ok. We've interacted with Anthony quite a few times on social media and D.J. met him at Phoenix Raceway back in the spring. He's a great guy and a great ambassador for the sport. We close out the show talking about the cup race and the upcoming switch to the NBC schedule featuring the logistical nightmare that will be the Chicago Street Race. D.J. will be out next week so be sure to tune in and find who Erik gets as his guest co-host! | NASCAR at Gateway, IndyCar in Detroit, F1 in Barcelona, and 2023 iRacing Season 3 Big Update | 10 Jun 2023 | 00:33:58
Erik and D.J. are back with a new episode. There were some interesting moments with NASCAR at Gateway and F1 in Barcelona (like a double podium for Mercedes), but probably the most interesting part of the weekend was racing in Detroit. Both IMSA and IndyCar returned to the streets of Detroit and the results were very mixed. One thing was obvious the course was strategically placed so you could see the big GM logo on the Renaissance Center. We spend the second half of the show talking about iRacing's new update including the heavily anticipated release of the Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Ligier JS P320, and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) replacing the older Porsche 911 GT3. We also discuss the new Willow Springs International Raceway and the big-time graphics improvement that will be used as a foundation for future updates. | Indy 500 Recap, Rain in Charlotte, iRacing GT3 Struggles | 03 Jun 2023 | 00:50:43
Taka is back from Japan and joins Erik and D.J. for an all-new episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk! We spend the bulk of the time this week breaking down the Garage Talk LIVE Raceday from over the weekend, first with a brief recap of the Monaco Grand Prix. We move on to the Indianapolis 500. During that discussion, we talk about how the first half of the race was pretty uneventful outside of Graham Rahal's car not firing. After Sting Ray Robb crashed out, things got crazy with three red flags and a controversial ending where the race was flagged with two laps to go followed by a partial yellow flag lap and green and white flags at the same time. We discuss why that happened, how that possibly could have been avoided, and what IndyCar can do to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. Finally, before we wrap the episode, we talk about our struggles during this season's Wednesday Night Dash GT3 league. We also discuss a little bit about the ending of the Behind Closed Doors IndyCar IR-18 season, and what's next for Wednesday Night Dash. Be sure to enter our contest for a chance to win a free autographed diecast from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Contest ends on June 28th. | Indy 500 Qualifying Drama, RLL and Graham Rahal, North Wilkesboro, and WND at VIR | 27 May 2023 | 00:47:03
Indy 500 qualification was full of drama, successes, and failures. You either had a great weekend or an absolutely horrible weekend. There was no middle ground. One of the teams that had the worst weekends was Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) which ultimately resulted in Graham Rahal missing the field....or did he? We break down the weekend in qualifying and how exciting it was. We touch on NASCAR's return to North Wilkesboro with a largely boring race, drama involving Bubba Wallace's radio, and Kyle Larson dominating the weekend. We also briefly touch on this weekend's Formula 1 heading to Monaco and how likely it's going to be another snoozefest. We close out the episode previewing our upcoming watch along live stream starting Sunday morning at 9 am eastern for the Monaco Grand Prix as we go directly into the Indy 500! Be sure to tune in for that. We do briefly touch on Wednesday Night Dash at VIRginia International Raceway and how the track swallowed everyone alive except for race winner, Ian Miller. | GMR Grand Prix, Ross Chastain, The Return to North Wilkesboro | 20 May 2023 | 00:54:20
We kick off this week's show by discussing Erik's trip to the GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The discussion spins off to talking about being caught in rain storms at the motor speedway, hiding under the metal bleachers, and how looking back on that doesn't look like the smartest place to hide from a thunderstorm. We get back on the discussion again on does IndyCar need more ovals on the schedule. If so, how can they do it safely and keep the racing entertaining? We next move on and discuss Ross Chastain and the controversy with his aggressive driving. Is it good for the sport? Should the drivers be left to police themselves? We close out the segment talking about the upcoming Xfinity schedule and how it's heavy on road courses/street circuits. Finally, we close out by talking about our iRacing leagues (Behind Closed Doors and Wednesday Night Dash). We talked about why D.J. missed the BCD IndyCar race at Indianapolis on Tuesday and some of the struggles we faced racing Laguna Seca on Wednesday Night Dash in the GT3 cars. D.J. hypes his upcoming blog post about his experience with updating to Windows 11 on his gaming PC and how it has impacted the performance of iRacing. We start off this episode by introducing the show, then forgetting if we introduced the show after our impromptu camera positioning changes and tribute to Wayne's World. Once the show is actually underway, we talk about the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Ocon's near incident with the group of reporters on the track during the race, and give a brief look ahead to Miami. Next, we talk about the weekend for NASCAR at Dover with the Truex brothers sweep, a rainout on Sunday, and Ross Chastain being Ross Chastain. We look at the new releases to the NASCAR Top 75 drivers, and some of the parody accounts releasing their own including "Guy who stole Talladega Pace Car in the 80s". We close out the show talking about IndyCar at Barber and how it's time for our favorite month of the year, Indy Month! | iRacing GT3 League, NASCAR on Dirt and Performing in Vegas? | 15 Apr 2023 | 00:40:34
Erik and D.J. just finished the Wednesday Night Dash GT3 Sprint Series recruiting race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and there's a lot to talk about with this drastic shift in the WND schedule. D.J. talks about the event being his first league-type race (not counting the Daytona end-of-season race last year) and Erik's struggles with going from a primary oval car over to the GT3 class. We also discuss our car picks for the season and things to work on as the season progresses. We move on and talk about the week in Motorsports with the Bristol dirt race, our take on if the dirt race is even worth it or not, and then move on to IndyCar and discuss the upcoming weekend at Long Beach. The end of the show takes an odd turn after discussing the strange travel schedule that Formula 1 follows and how Las Vegas falls into the mix. That's when we both realize we have been pulled up on the stage of different Vegas shows to participate in the show. We share our experience first with D.J. seeing the late "The Amazing Jonathan" and Erik with Zumanity, a Cirque du Soleil show. F-R Racing's LIVE Raceday is powered by F1 TV Pro. | NASCAR Stage Racing, IndyCar in Texas, and Formula 1 Australian Chaos | 08 Apr 2023 | 00:49:55
On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we talk about the Richmond NASCAR Cup Series race and generally how boring it was for the most part. The conversation expands into whether Stage Racing is even necessary and is the races are too long for our short attention span society? Next, we move on and talk about the IndyCar race in Texas and how the use of the upper racing line added excitement not seen at that track in many years. Did Jimmie Johnson help inspire IndyCar drivers to make oval racing better because of his driving in Texas and Iowa? Do we need to expand ovals on the schedule? We also briefly recap the first race in Erik's "Behind Closed Doors" Open Wheel (don't call it an IndyCar) iRacing league. The top three cars ran Michigan and finished 0.042 seconds apart. Finally, we close out by talking about the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. We hosted F-R Racing's Garage Talk LIVE Raceday and ran into numerous technical issues on the front end of the stream. We talk about those issues and how the early red flag bailed us out while D.J. fixed the stream audio setup. Once the stream was up and running, the race was relatively routine until the last few laps when all chaos broke out. We break down the chaos, multiple restarts, and Carlos Sainz's five-second penalty that dropped him to 12th place. F-R Racing's LIVE Raceday is powered by F1 TV Pro. D.J. also pulls out a copy of January 2023's Racecar Engineering to show how poorly the article about McLaren's F1 team has aged already, and how Fred Vassur gave an interview about the progress made at Alfa Romero only to bolt to Ferrari likely days after the interview was conducted putting the magazine into an awkward situation. Erik and D.J. are joined by Wednesday Night Dash Season 5 Champion, Colton Gardner. Colton was the winner of Season 5 of Wednesday Night Dash in the NASCAR Next Gen Cup Series cars. We talk to Colton about the season, his preparation, and his success late in the season after a big accident in Atlanta. We also go further into the infamous extra caution flag thrown at Darlington Raceway earlier in the season. In part two we talk about the weekend in motorsports starting with NASCAR and Denny Hamlin's accidental encounter with Brad Keselowski at the port-o-potty, Joey Logano winning his "home track" race finally, and Josh Williams becoming a household name in NASCAR for the protest of his parking by NASCAR officials. We move on to Formula 1 and talk about the teammate drama at Red Bull, Alonso finishing 3rd, then 4th, then 3rd again, and struggles for McLaren. Finally, we talk more about the upcoming Wednesday Night Dash Season 6 starting in April with the GT3 series. Catch the episode right now! D.J. starts the show by cracking open a Michelob Ultra and talking about how he had a near-panic moment when he thought he had broken his brand new Simagic FX Pro racing wheel already (spoiler: he didn't). He recaps what happens and the importance of not storing a racing wheel that uses magnets on the paddle shifters on a magnetized metal shelf. Don't forget to tune into Wednesday Night Dash this season at 10:15 pm eastern. It will be a fun-filled y so be sure to subscribe to Dowell, having a close-up with Bubba Wallace and Joey Logano near the Driver's meeting room, and a memorable experience for his kids. He also talks about chatting with Twitch creator and NASCAR Xfinity driver about his Twitch feed and how Parker Kligerman made such a positive impact during the brief interaction with his kids at the Xfinity driver autograph session. We get into discussing the race, the Hendrick team penalties, and Justin Haley ending up with negative points after his penalty. In part two of the episode we talk about Colton Gardner's big win on Wednesday Night Dash that locked in his first season championship. We'll have him on here soon for his season interview. | Bahrain F1, Indy St Pete, NASCAR Vegas, and Blinking in iRacing | 11 Mar 2023 | 00:35:54
A busy weekend in motorsports as Formula 1 returned with a snooze fest in Bahrain, IndyCar had an exciting event in St Petersburg, and William Byron came out on top in Las Vegas. We talk about the importance of sponsors like HyVee to the IndyCar series despite not understanding why a regional chain store would spend so much time and effort to become nationally known. Next, we move on and discuss the concept of "blinking" inside iRacing and what it is. For those that don't know, blinking usually occurs when someone is on a lousy internet connection or their PC resources are maxed out during a race that their car "blinks". iRacing is pretty vague on the rules regarding proper etiquette so it comes down to a case-by-case basis and leagues set their own rules. That being said, what is a fair rule? We discuss and don't come to a conclusion, but it is a good discussion. Finally, in the video version, D.J. shows off his new toy from Extreme Sim Racing, so check that out. Don't forget to tune into Wednesday Night Dash this season at 10:15 pm eastern. | WND iRacing Atlanta Recap and NASCAR Top 75 Drivers Discussion | 04 Mar 2023 | 00:33:03
Erik and D.J. both had bad nights at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Erik discusses his lousy start followed by a black flag and D.J. who was running well had a PC crash during the race. Hear the details and some of the technical issues with his computer that D.J. is troubleshooting. You might learn something to avoid that same problem. We talk about the end of Auto Club Speedway as we know it, review the Top 50 drivers from NASCAR's 50th-anniversary celebration in 1998 and discuss what 25 drivers will be added to the list for the top 75 drivers list being released later this year for NASCAR's Top 75. It's a good throwback and history lesson for those who love NASCAR and want to learn more about the sport's history and its drivers. | Daytona 500 Recap and Wednesday Night Dash at iRacing Chicago Street Circuit | 25 Feb 2023 | 00:31:58
Erik and D.J. are back after a week off and joined by F-R Racing Social Media guy, Taka Timmerman. We initially start to talk about the Wednesday Night Dash iRacing Chicago Street Circuit visit, but get back on topic and recap the Daytona 500, Ricky Stenhouse Jr's first win since 2017, his post-race Waffle House trip, and some obscure winners of the 500 over the years. We actually recorded this immediately after the completion of the Wednesday Night Dash iRacing Chicago Street Circuit race presented by The Merch Booth Podcast. Running a NASCAR Next Gen car on a city street where it's extremely bumpy and turns get very tight was definitely a challenge. We recap the race and talk about the dominating performance of former Garage Talk guests, Tyler Lugo-Vickery and Mark Vicars. | NASCAR 2023 Race Names, Clash at the Coliseum Review, and Chicago Street Circuit | 11 Feb 2023 | 00:31:22
A lot to unpack with the NASCAR season coming up. We kick off the show by talking briefly about Kyle Busch's legal troubles after a vacation to Mexico and sharing our thoughts on the questionable decision-making to have the Clash at the Coliseum again. A discussion goes off-topic when the Daytona Xfinity race name gets brought up and as a result, we decide to walk through the list of race sponsors for the Cup, Xfinity, and Craftsman Truck Series for this year. There are surprisingly still quite a few races without a race sponsor and one sponsor that comes up multiple times in the truck series. Should F-R Racing sponsor one of those Truck Series races? Finally, we close out by talking about the upcoming Wednesday Night Dash iRacing league race at the Chicago Street Circuit. It appears the braking has changed on the car, so we could run into additional challenges as we run this race. Don't forget to tune into Wednesday Night Dash this season at 10:15 pm eastern. No Wednesday Night Dash this week, but we are talking Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum and recapping the Rolex 24! D.J. and Erik recap watching the Rolex 24 at Daytona and recap the highlights of the event, the colder weather at night time, and some of the participating drivers in the event. In the second half, we talk about the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum for NASCAR this weekend and discuss the logistics of the event when you need to send the haulers to Daytona immediately afterward and will the race be any better this year now that the drivers have a full year behind the new cars. Finally, we close out by talking about the upcoming Chicago Street Race on Wednesday Night Dash and the challenges we'll face in that race. Returning to the show for the fifth time (4 recorded episodes, 1 live show) is our old friend, Andy Amendola of Red Racer Books. Andy is here today to talk about his new book, "Josef's Big Dream" that he wrote in partnership with two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Josef Newgarden and his wife Ashley. We talk to Andy about how he was introduced to the Newgarden's for the first time and his process of writing the book with Josef and Ashley. This was Andy's first biographical book and his approach was very different from the previous books. As part of his work with IndyCar and the Newgardens', Andy and his family attended the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in 2024. He shares his experience of the weekend and going on track to have his photo with back-to-back winner Josef Newgarden. Finally, Andy shares the story of how Josef and Ashley flew down to his house and he autographed the first 500 copies of the book that were sent out to lucky buyers. | WND Darlington Raceway and iRacing Daytona 24 Recap | 28 Jan 2023 | 00:24:03
Erik and D.J. recorded this episode after completing Wednesday Night Dash on January 25, 2023, at Darlington Raceway. From technical problems with iRacing, a big crash at the green flag, and a questionable DQ by the service, there is a lot to unpack from this race. Next, we recap the iRacing Daytona 24 event from last weekend. Erik led the team and D.J. led the 24 hour live stream available for replay over on Stadium Scene TV. Erik talks about the challenges of driving, having to leave for about 10 hours during the beginning of the event and the overall lack of sleep from that weekend. D.J. discusses the challenges of running a 24-hour stream while trying to plan and set up for his kids' birthday party. It was a very rewarding experience, but there will be some changes next year. | Wednesday Night Dash Recap, iRacing Daytona 24 Hour Race Preview | 21 Jan 2023 | 00:36:08
Erik and D.J. are back this week recapping the first two weeks of Wednesday Night Dash iRacing Series and breaking down Erik's two wins so far. In addition to what we look at that went right, we look at what's going wrong with D.J. so far this season. We talk about D.J.'s poor tire strategy that cost him at Michigan and while he generally avoided the big mess of wrecks at Talladega, his poor starts on the green flag put him out in no man's land and cost him a podium spot. In the second half of the show, we talk about the upcoming Daytona 24 Race on the iRacing platform and the broadcast plan for both D.J. and Erik. Erik will be fielding a team with former guests Mark Vicars, Hunter Hughes, and a couple of others. We talk a little about how the team almost fell apart two days before the event and how social media and some friends we've made through the sim racing community came together to race with us. | Interview with WND Champion Tyler Vickery from New Smyrna Speedway | 14 Jan 2023 | 00:54:05
We know Wednesday Night Dash debuted this week, but instead, we're airing a special edition of F-R Racing's Garage Talk where we are joined by the Wednesday Night Dash Season 4 champion, Tyler Vickery. This episode is extra special because Tyler is coming to us from New Smyrna Speedway, which doesn't mean a whole lot for a podcast, so check out the video on YouTube as he shows us some of the track while we talk to him about short track racing, his experience with the short track, and learning more about how important the track is to the community. We spend the second half of the episode talking about our iRacing experience including breaking down the now infamous Season 4 Talladega race that involved Tyler, Erik, D.J., and season 3 champion Kaden McAreavy Jr in a battle for the win on the final lap. Learn what went on in each driver's head as they came around onto the trioval and everyone scrambled for the win. In addition, we close out the discussion of the iRacing/IndyCar licensing controversy by talking about our "Farewell to IndyCar on iRacing " live stream from Indianapolis Motor Speedway and D.J.'s CART US 500-Esq start. Finally, we break down the short show this week previewing the upcoming Wednesday Night Dash season starting on January 11th. Since the IndyCar season had to be canceled due to iRacing licensing issues, we moved on to our NASCAR Next Gen Cup Series, featuring a fun schedule that includes a visit to the new race for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season at Chicago Street Circuit. | Emergency Podcast - iRacing IndyCar Licensing Controversy | 24 Dec 2022 | 00:44:54
This was supposed to be an end-of-the-year highlights show, but the surprise notice that iRacing lost its IndyCar Licensing as of January 1, 2023, needed to be discussed. Erik and D.J. call the emergency podcast to discuss what it means for the future of the NTT IndyCar Series in iRacing, how the licensing impacts the schedule, future updating, and a shock update to the next season of Wednesday Night Dash. Finally, we bring back up the often discussed lack of marketing in the IndyCar series and what happens to the series in the future as it slips further and further behind NASCAR and now Formula 1 in the US market. We also throwback to our past visits to the Indy 500 and how IndyCar can make a few small changes to get the fans re-engaged starting with the crown jewel of the series, the Indy 500. D.J. and Erik start the episode with some breaking news about the IndyCar Marketing lead on the way out! It leads to an unplanned extended discussion about the marketing struggles with the IndyCar series and the declining popularity of the sport, despite the fact that the series runs one of the strongest fields in recent memory. Next, we move on and review our iRacing Class C IndyCar Series at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. D.J. discusses technical problems with his brakes and Erik discusses his Andretti curse. | Interview with Author, Andy Amendola - Red Racer Books | 26 Nov 2022 | 00:33:55
Since the offseason for racing is in full swing, we're changing up our content a little bit in our first of hopefully many interviews, we sit down with author, Andy Amendola from Red Racer Books. Andy has written two excellent children's books, "ABC's of Racing" and "All About Race Cars". Both books are a great introduction to Formula 1 for both kids and adults. It was actually one of Andy's ads on social media that introduced D.J. and his kids to his books and kicked off a conversation one day that turned into this interview. We kick off the interview by talking about how Andy was first introduced to Formula 1 through the Netflix series, "Drive to Survive" and how the show's influence not only made him a fan of Formula 1 but a student and historian as well. He talks about how after a trip to the US Grand Prix, he was inspired to start writing his book series due to the lack of any recent children's books on the topics of Formula 1. His books not only target the competition aspect but the science and engineering. Next, we dive into the process of research, writing the book, finding an illustrator, running a Kickstarter campaign, and ultimately printing and marketing the final product. Andy gives us a hint at what to expect next from Red Racer Books so be sure to stick around for the end of the episode! Erik and D.J. tested the iRacing Xfinity cars at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend with the replay over at Twitch or YouTube. First, they discuss the drama from last weekend's Formula 1 race at Interlagos. There was drama between Kevin Magnussen & Daniel Ricciardo, Charles LeClerc and Lando Norris, Max and Lewis, and Max and Checo?! Mercedes is the big winner with George Russell getting his first win. In the second half of the episode, we pull up the film and talk about our first test of iRacing Xfinity Series cars and review the numerous mistakes we made during our 40-lap run from Erik hitting the wall a couple of times and D.J. having issues with tire wear despite iRacing's HUD claiming tires were still at 100%. | 2022 NASCAR season is over and Wednesday Night Dash Wrap Up | 11 Nov 2022 | 00:21:53
With the Wednesday Night Dash season officially over, we ran an end-of-year "party" for the drivers in the form of an iRacing GT3 race at Daytona International Speedway's Road Course. Our old friend Chad Winstead stopped by to join us and we break down how that went and the interesting situation that iRacing pulled when the race winner went to celebrate by doing donuts. Next, we quickly shout out to our partner Extreme Sim Racing and talk about the latest review on the F-R Racing blog, the Logitech Inverted Pedal Retrofit Kit. We move on next to discuss the final week of the NASCAR season, the tragedy of Coy Gibbs' death after watching his son Ty win the Xfinity Championship only a few hours early. An absolute tragedy of a story. We move on and talk about Joey Logano's championship, and talk about past history of champions. | Ross Chastain's Wall Ride, F1 Snoozer in Mexico, and Wednesday Night Dash 2022 Season Wrap Up | 04 Nov 2022 | 00:30:42
Erik and D.J. had a bad finish to the 2022 Wednesday Night Dash season, but they're proud of what they accomplished and talk about the people they met and things they learned about running an iRacing league. We recap our struggles at The Milwaukee Mile, talk about where we go next in January, and pitch recruiting more drivers for next season. We of course have to move on to the biggest NASCAR story in a long time, Ty Gibbs wrecking his teammate and knocking him out of the Xfinity playoffs. Just kidding. I think we've all seen the clip about 100 times and heard the audio from the other drivers. Unbelievable, but dangerous move. We talk about how that will impact things for Championship Weekend at Phoenix Raceway. We also talk about who we will likely see pull "the double" (Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day). Some of the names are to be expected, but we throw out a couple that you might not think about as your first picks. We briefly talk about the snooze fest that was the Mexican Grand Prix, Verstappen winning again, and what to watch as the season goes into the last two races. Erik and D.J. are joined this week by Sarah Offenbach (@offey_on_track) on Instagram. Sarah is a motorsports content creator and influencer who has focused primarily on the IndyCar Series the last few years. As we've long promised, we finally sit down and look at the state of the IndyCar series. Why are they struggling with TV ratings? Why are a lot of general fans not familiar with the series drivers? How has the Roger Penske era of IndyCar really gone? Which current IndyCar driver sent her and her husband a congratulatory message for their wedding? Before we get too far into the show, we talk about the NASCAR Championship Weekend and D.J.'s +1200 bet for Joey Logano to win the Championship hit thanks to Alex Bowman's disqualification after the Roval. | Tim Cook, F1 Flag Wave and iRacing Iowa Speedway WND Results | 28 Oct 2022 | 00:35:02
Erik and D.J. are back talking about the Wednesday Night Dash event at iRacing Iowa Speedway. Both drivers had an off night but due to some luck they walked away from Iowa with a 4th (Erik) and a 5th (D.J.) place finish! It's the Halloween episode of the show and D.J. talks about why he's dressed up as Ryder from Paw Patrol (hint: his kids picked the costume) and Erik talks about playing the role of Colorado Avalanche Captain, Gabriel Landeskog. Erik was away all weekend and missed the Formula 1 and NASCAR action, but we just had to discuss the now-infamous Tim Cook checkered flag wave at COTA. | Talladega Racing, Formula 1 in Singapore, and Speculating on Las Vegas Grand Prix Ticket Prices | 08 Oct 2022 | 00:24:46
Erik and D.J. are back this week with a special announcement about next week's Wednesday Night Dash ARCA league race! Since there was no Wednesday Night Dash race to break down, we skip right to talking about last week's NASCAR racing at Talladega from Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series! We talk about the Singapore Formula 1 race and the late/early start of this week's race in Japan. Before ending the show we talk briefly about speculation of what the "general admission" tickets to the Las Vegas Grand Prix will cost and then close out by briefly talking completely off-topic about the end of the Chicago Cubs season. If you watched the video you'd notice that by pure coincidence Erik and D.J. both wore Cubs gear. | Dual Podium Finish at Talladega on Wednesday Night Dash | 01 Oct 2022 | 00:29:53
Erik and D.J. (along with Taka) had a completely different plan coming into this week's episode, but that was thrown out the window because we spend the entire episode breaking down the amazing race during this week's Wednesday Night Dash ARCA iRacing League. Spoiler Alert: Erik finished P1 (by 0.003 seconds) and D.J. finished P3 (by 0.055 seconds). It's the first dual podium finish for F-R Racing in the Wednesday Night Dash since the series moved to Stadium Scene TV. We open the show celebrating with some shots of Jeppson's Malört. We look at the last few laps, and how the broadcast booth thought D.J. fell too far back to make a run to the end. We look at some of the big crashes and the mistakes made by the team during the race. It's a good look under the hood of iRacing and the iRacing replay system if you've never heard about it. Video is available on Twitch and will be available on our YouTube channel at 8pm eastern on October 1st. | One Year Anniversary of Wednesday Night Dash | 24 Sep 2022 | 00:35:20
Can you believe we've been streaming for a year? Our stream was originally inspired by the iRacing Dallara Dash series, but using different cars has gone from Erik and D.J. racing by themselves each week to a league with 15 drivers, broadcasted on Stadium Scene TV, and a prize purse. For this episode, we start off with the race recap of the Wednesday Night Dash iRacing League ARCA series at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and the bad night for Team F-R Racing. We briefly look ahead to next week's race at Talladega before moving on to discussing the week in NASCAR and Formula 1's schedule release. We close out the episode by watching some of the highlights of our first Wednesday Night Dash from September 15, 2021. We raced Dallara DW12 Indy Cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Erik had just received his racing wheel earlier that day. We talk about how his calibration settings were so awful that he couldn't race. It took a two-hour screen share session and tampering with iRacing settings under the hood to get it working. | iRacing ARCA Livery Change, NASCAR, WND iRacing League Return | 10 Sep 2022 | 00:29:07
Erik and D.J. are back this week discussing the iRacing ARCA livery update, the world of NASCAR at Darlington Raceway, Scott McLaughlin's dominant day at Portland in the IndyCar Series, and Max Verstappen's win at Zandvoort (where have we heard that before?). We move on and discuss in more detail our switch to the ARCA Menards series car for this season of Wednesday Night Dash on Stadium Scene TV and how different the car drives compared to the NASCAR Next Gen car and the Camping World Truck. We also get into detail about the iRacing 2022 Season 4 update that was pushed on Wednesday which updated the graphic design of the ARCA car (spoiler: changed the livery paint). We get into how drivers scrambled at the last minute to either fix their paints or drive a generic blank car for the first week as they deal with the challenges of the livery not matching up with the new design. Next race is at Kansas on September 14th! Follow F-R Racing: Don't forget to check out Wednesday Night Dash live at 10:15 pm eastern time almost every Wednesday on Stadium Scene TV. | Hanging with WND Driver Kaden McAreavy Jr | 23 Jul 2022 | 00:24:11
Today we're joined by the Wednesday Night Dash series leader, Kaden McAreavy Jr. We talk about Kaden's dominant run of five podiums in six races including two wins, and the strategy behind his preparation before the race. We jump in and discuss the upcoming season of F1, the influence of "Drive to Survive" then move onto NASCAR and talk about the weird on-track incident between Brad Keselowski and Austin Dillon and finally move onto IndyCar. The discussion expands into how while the quality of the broadcast on Peacock was good, did NBC/IndyCar hurt their chances of growing the sport? Is streaming races exclusively on a paid service really the right move right now? We close out the show discussing last week's Wednesday Night Dash at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and the challenges of racing on the famous short track. The challenges the drivers ran into led us to change next week's race from dirt to pavement at Bristol and we talk about the thought process behind that. Follow Kaden on Instagram @kadenmcareavy.
