Since the dawn of time, humanity has been at war.  Conflict in one form or another has been part of our existence since we first walked the earth.   In this first episode of a four-part series, join military historian David Borys as we travel back in time to Iran, where we chart how a modern monarchy, which was armed, wealthy, and globally backed, lost control. On our journey, we'll be helped by historian Roham Alvandi from the London School of Economics and Political Science. While conflict and armed rebellion have evolved to look very differently over the centuries, if you want to understand the world today, you need to go back because history doesn't just repeat itself; it echoes.   Be sure to follow "Hostile History" on your favourite podcast app, so you never miss an episode.   Learn more about your ad choices. It’s a summer night in 1998. Vienna, Austria. And petty thief Daniel Blanchard is about to carry out the heist of a lifetime. Stealing a crown jewel. The last remaining diamond Sisi Star. His plan? A daring night-time parachute jump. Daniel is no ordinary thief. His heists are ingenious, meticulously planned; his escapes from the law defy belief. And Daniel knows that if he can get his hands on the star, it will launch him into the criminal big-leagues. Daniel’s exploits unleash a relentless game of cat-and-mouse, as police track him across continents yet vanishes from their grasp.  What he doesn’t know is that the Sisi Star has a history. A dark history. Its original owner, the legendary Empress Elisabeth of Austria, used it to carve her own legacy of absolute beauty and power. That pursuit drove her to her very limits.  And now Daniel’s fate is fixed to that same star. But how long can Sisi’s star stay lucky for Daniel?  This is A Most Audacious Heist – it’s the story of a master thief, an intercontinental manhunt, and the jewel that changes everything. A knock at The Narrator’s door produces a box with something he’s been in search of for years, Noah’s lost audio recordings about conspiracy theories. In this first one, Noah is talking about the location at the center of our mystery: The Denver International Airport CAST Narrator – Mike Howorun Noah – Brady Roberts CREW: Editing and Sound Design – Matthew Hall & Mike Howorun Post Production Producer - Rob Johnston Written by – Brady Roberts and Mike Howorun Directed by – Mike Howorun Produced by - Matthew Hall, Brady Roberts, Mike Howorun, Dila Valezquez Created by Mike Howorun & Brady Roberts Contact: escapingdenverpod@gmail.com Instagram: @escapingdenver Reddit: r/escapingdenver Learn more about your ad choices. Noah has just blown his cover and with a team hunting him down he struggles to stay off the radar. Meanwhile with no new voice messages from Sara, her fate is unknown.  CAST Narrator – Mike Howorun Noah – Brady Roberts Sara – Greta Carew-Johns Captain – Sachin Sahel Gene – Steve Sauve Ukrainian Soldier 2 – Matthew Hall Cook 1 – Eldar Karimov Cook 2 – Andri Zhebrovsky CREW: Editing and Sound Design – Matthew Hall & Mike Howorun Post Production Producer - Rob Johnston Written/Directed – Mike Howorun Produced by - Matthew Hall, Brady Roberts, Mike Howorun, Dila Velazquez Created by Mike Howorun & Brady Roberts Contact: escapingdenverpod@gmail.com Instagram: @escapingdenver Reddit: r/escapingdenver Learn more about your ad choices. Backed into a corner, Noah must now change his plan to avoid 'The Puncher' a deadly and menacing robot, hunting him. Meanwhile it appears that Sara, is somehow deep within a corporate onboarding. This amazing revelation allows us to see a different side of The Collective and their facility. Noah has made it to Alan’s contact, who just happens to be The Archivist! Now, will Noah’s brazenness get him answers he’s so desperately seeking, or will this just alert The Collective of his whereabouts? Noah, having been saved by a blast from the past, could possibly have a new ally; but getting the answers he wants, is going to mean leaving his comfort zone. When we last heard from Noah, he made the hard decision to leave Sara. He's now alone and has to make his way back to safety and the familiar territory of the Bio-Dome cavern. He's hoping to find evidence that will help dismantle The Collective, and keep others from experiencing the horrors he's had to endure. This time he has no choice but to go solo and as always nothing will go as planned.  CAST Narrator – Mike Howorun Noah – Brady Roberts Voice – Adam Kozlick Editing and Sound Design – Matthew Hall & Mike Howorun Post Production Producer - Rob Johnston Written/Directed – Mike Howorun Produced by - Matthew Hall, Brady Roberts, Mike Howorun, Dila Velazquez Created by Mike Howorun & Brady Roberts Contact: escapingdenverpod@gmail.com Instagram: @escapingdenver Reddit: r/escapingdenver Learn more about your ad choices. Noah and Sara started out as strangers trapped in an experiment deep beneath the Denver International Airport, but since then they managed to escape the test and plunge further into this subterranean labyrinth. They’ve fought off creatures of myth, nightmare monsters yet to be discovered and military kill-squads, but their latest confrontation is what tore them apart.  Now, separated, I’m still receiving their disjointed voice messages, and trying to piece together their story in hopes of saving them, but can they survive on their own?  Find out in the brand new season of Escaping Denver.
