| #111 LukeLikes「Quickly」 | 11 janv. 2026 | 00:06:22 | |
Luke Likes 'Quickly' Yeah, let's do it, quickly, quick - quickly. I am quick. Let's do it quickly. No time, no time to lose, no time to lose. So quickly, quickly, my father is the guy who walks very quickly, he walks very quickly and my neighbours noticed, so it means they saw, they noticed it very quickly. Yeah, he is quite known for that. Thanks to that, thanks to that, he can do things quickly, shopping for example. Carefully, carefully, carefully. Oh I know, you have to walk carefully right now because you might fall down. Yeah, there is a lot of snow and ice right now. So listen carefully, listen carefully and try to cross the street carefully. Alright? Oh, slow - slowly, slowly, slowly. I am speaking to you slowly, slowly so that you can follow what I am trying to say. And please repeat that slowly after me so that it will slowly get easier and easier. Hopefully, so I hope, hopefully, hopefully. Suddenly, sudden - suddenly, which means it is unexpected, unexpected. Like suddenly, he stopped talking. And suddenly, I understood, I understood. Suddenly, I realised what this episode is about. Good for you. And finally, finally... Badly, bad - badly, like today, today's game. Yeah, because the team played badly, horribly. They played awfully. Badly, horribly, awfully. And people start asking, hey, they don't get paid so badly, do they? Get paid badly, Yeah, they don't, they don't. Actually they get paid, 'goodly'? No, no, they get paid, well. Good - well. Can you see the difference? Because that's quite special. Yeah, we love special, I'm sure. Good - well. You speak English very well, I hope you see that, I hope you hear that. And you are doing, you are doing very well, so you are doing that without any problems, very well, Okay, so here's another one, a special one. Hard - 'hardly'? No, not really. For example, I work very hard. This job is very hard and I'm sure you are studying really hard. Late. That's an interesting one. I went to bed late and I got up late, not 'lately'. Unfortunately. Unfortunately my train didn't come late, yeah. Unfortunately, because I missed it. Fast - 'fastly'? Not really. I am not speaking very fast. You are a fast learner. You get things fast, so you understand things fast. And if you have a goal, and I'm sure you do, you will get there fast. So to recap, quick - quickly, bad - badly, sudden - suddenly, careful - carefully. Do you get it? But listen carefully, especially when it's hard, fast and late, and then you will do well. Enjoy! Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #110 LukeLikes「Happy Old Year」 | 04 janv. 2026 | 00:06:52 | |
Luke Likes 'Happy Old Year' Happy, happy old year, and the new year too, obviously. Happy new year 2026. But was 2025 a happy year? Was it? I'm pretty sure it was, I hope it was, because I must say that I have asked this question, 'How was 2025 for you? How was it?' I have asked many people this question, and they all said it was pretty good. It was pretty good, or even awesome. It was awesome. Nobody even said, nobody, not even one person said that it was bad. So, my conclusion is, the next year is always, always better than the previous year. Is it logical? Not really, not really, it's not how it works. But let's say for a moment, let's say it is like that. And I hope it is, because it means that the next year, and the next one, and the next one, and every year to come is going to be even a little better than the previous, previous one. That would be great, that would be awesome. So I have asked this question, it's time for me to answer, I suppose. So 'hey, Luke, hey Luke, how was 2025 for you? How was it? Awesome?' If I am being honest, if I'm being honest with you, I'm not fond of, so I don't like, I am not fond of talking about the past. Looking back on what happened is just not my thing, I don't really know why, I usually don't do that. But alright, today I will give it a try, I will give it a go. So let's recap, recap. And now, let me think also. So when it comes to health, because this is what people wish other people, I mean staying in shape, to be in the best of health, to be in the best of health, well, that was overall, overall, so in general, overall very very good. Except for one occasion, but with the help of family and friends, I got over that, I got over, so I got better pretty quickly. And when it comes to work, yeah, that was a busy year, and I'm not sure if this is good or bad, because I do feel that I work a little too much. But I do enjoy that. So yeah, a very good year, a lot of work. Wow, I'm so happy, I didn't realise that the year 2025 was that successful, successful. Ok, and at home I did some small renovations and bought a few things, but I haven't finished yet, so I would say work in progress, could be a little better. And now, people and relationships. Well, like in life, I got along with some people, so I had a good relationship with some of them and my family members, but I could do a little better. Yeah, I have to admit, I have to be honest, I have to admit. Work in progress here too. Ok, and finally, goals, my goals. Well, I didn't make any resolutions back in 2025, but I was quite consistent, consistent, so I stuck to, I was consistent with what is important for me, so staying fit and keeping on studying languages, obviously. And I am very very satisfied with my results, well, I don't want to brag, I'm sorry, but I could see progress, And oh, I did start learning a new language, which is Portuguese. I love it, I'm excited, and I'm looking forward to 2026, the new language year. F For me, and for you as well. Keep up the good work. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #109 LukeLikes「Repair」 | 28 déc. 2025 | 00:07:03 | |
Luke Likes 'Repair' Do you want to know the truth? The truth about the world and life? I will tell you. The truth is that things get broken. Get broken so they no longer work. Get broken. Hey, who did that? Who broke that? Not me, not me. So who did that? Just got broken. I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do. It got broken by itself. Yeah, let's go with that. Let's go with that. So things happen, things get broken. We can't do anything about it, can we? Definitely I can't. I can't do anything about it. I know nothing about repairing things or fixing things. So I just try and stay away from it. And, well, leave it to the pros. Leave it to the people that, well, they know what they are doing. The specialists, engineers, and craftsman, craftsman. And I am telling you all about that because the other day, so not a long time ago, the other day, I was preparing my meal, my evening meal on my stove, on my stove, so the place, the top that you prepare your meals on, and you can heat them. So while I was heating, I was heating my meal, it all went out, went out, so suddenly it stopped working. It is an electrical device, an appliance used in the kitchen so it needs electricity and suddenly it stoped working just like that. It got broken. Hey, I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do with it. Not my fault. So it all went out. And I couldn't turn it back on again. Turn it back on. Well, I tried a few things like restarting the device. This is basically all I could do. This is where my knowledge and skills end when things get broken. And well, the obvious step is for me to take it in for repair. And that would involve, that would mean, that would involve, well, a lot of time, and of course I would have to pay the costs of any repairs, because the stove is no longer under any guarantee. Unfortunately, obviously. So what can I do? What can I do? What can I do? Me? Nothing. My brother. Ha! He is the repairman in the family. He has always been. And it's so impressive to watch. It's like watching a magician. So he comes over to my place. Disconnects, disconnects the device and removes it, removes it from the top, because it is sort of built in the worktop. And then starts to dismantle, dismantle the device. So takes away all the bits and pieces step by step so that it is all like Lego bricks. Screw after screw, piece after piece. And it's so tiny. Oh my! Tiny and fragile. So you have to be careful not to break it. So he does all of that. And after around 2-3 hours we are in, we are in, and we can see it all, including the tiny little piece. The little bastard! That is all to blame. Yeah. So this little small piece is the culprit. The culprit, so somebody or something that is responsible, for all this mess. And that's a very impressive job that my brother did. And me?Well still nothing to do with that. I just hope to come back to cooking. And if next time something gets broken, my brother will definitely handle that, and find the culprit again. Because I had nothing to do with that. It's not me, obviously. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #108 LukeLikes「Meet Adriana」 | 14 déc. 2025 | 00:07:09 | |
Luke Likes 'Meet Adriana' Oh, Adriana. Adriana. Meet Adriana. Do you know her? Do you know her, Adriana? You know, the flight attendant. Flight attendant. So, a person who helps you out on a plane, on a plane. A flight attendant. No, you don't? You don't know Adriana? You don't? Okay, I'm gonna be honest, I am gonna be honest with you, I don't know her either. I don't. But, but, she is gonna help us here. Not on a plane. But, to make a point. To make a point here. And, tell us, tell us a little story, a little story. Hope you enjoy it. So, let's start over. Let's start over. Meet Adriana. She is a flight attendant and she flies a plane, she flies a plane. She helps people feel comfortable on the flight and she often spends time in a cockpit. Maybe. Maybe that's true. Maybe not. Anyway, she flies a lot. And, she visits lots of places. Lots of interesting cities. So far, so far, she has visited LA. She has been to Mexico City and she has been to Rio. And, I'm sure she has seen many, many other cool cities around the world. So, she has visited lots of interesting cool places. In fact, she is on the plane right now. She is flying, she is flying. But, I don't know where. I don't know where. But, again, she is helping people around. And, making them comfortable during the flight. During the flight. For example. Oh, look at this man. He is sleeping right now. He is sleeping. He needs a blanket. How about I go and bring him a warm blanket. He is sleeping. Are you with me? Are you with me so far? I hope you are. So, as I said. As I said. Adriana has been to lots of places. But, she has never been, she has never been to New York. She hasn't been. So, one day, one day I'm sure, I'm sure she will fly to New York. That's her big dream. Maybe next year. Maybe this will be next year. Who knows? Who knows? Maybe she is going to, she is gonna, she is going to fly this big, big, huge jumbo jet. Have you ever flown this big thing? Have you? I haven't. Anyway. She is flying right now. Again, don't know where. She is flying and, in a moment, in a moment they will be flying over the mountains, they will be flying over the mountains. What a view! What a wonderful view of the mountains! Hope you can get a window seat. A window seat. So, Adriana is a young flight attendant. Because she finished, she finished an air training school three years ago, three years ago. So, she is gaining, gaining, so getting, gaining experience right now. She used to fly, she used to fly a different plane. And, well, people used to fly different planes, and, on one occasion, on one occasion while she was flying to Mexico, she was flying to Mexico, a funny thing happened. Because a man proposed to her! A man proposed to her on a plane. So, he wanted to marry her, while she was flying. Oh my goodness! She said no, she said no. So, that's an incredible situation. She has those from time to time. Like the other day, the other day, so not a long time ago, a passenger wanted to get on the plane, get on the plane. But, he didn't have a boarding car. He didn't. So, she said 'I would let you, I would let you in, I would let you in if you had a boarding car. Obviously, he didn't. So, he couldn't get on the plane. So, that's it. That's Adriana and her fascinating life story. And different, different situations she was in. Well, like you. Me and everyone. And, this is how you want to talk about it. So, go ahead and try. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #107 LukeLikes「Cozy」 | 07 déc. 2025 | 00:06:31 | |
Luke Likes 'Cozy' Yeah, I am feeling comfortable. I'm so comfortable over here, staying in and not going out, anyway. Pretty cozy. Pretty cozy. Do use this word in English, cozy? Yeah, a pretty nice word, which you can use when you feel comfortable and, well, sort of safe. But the most important part is you're feeling warm and relaxed. Cozy. Cozy little place by the fire, by the fire, for example. So nothing better than feeling cozy on a December afternoon and evening. When it's pretty dark outside and not too cozy, not too cozy when you go out. So staying in and enjoying the cozy atmosphere, which starts, in my opinion, which starts with a hot, hot drink. And no surprises here. Here it is, here it is, my hot tea. But this time, this time round, garnished, garnished, okay, so decorated, with, well, plenty, plenty of stuff. Cozy stuff. Very fancy, very fancy. Such as, hmm, what do we have in here? A slice of orange, obviously. A few cranberries, cranberries. Do you know what they are? Cranberries. Yes, please, look it up, cranberries. Then cinnamon, cinnamon stick, actually, cinnamon stick and ginger. Obviously, ginger. So common spices. Oh, and not so common, at least to me, because there is a little small star in it. Anise, star anise. Look it up again. Cardamom and, oh yeah, those little things, cloves. They are called cloves. All of them, spices. Very nice looking, floating here in my hot tea, floating. So staying up and not going down, not going, so floating, floating in my tea. And finally, to top it all, top it all, some sweet, sweet raspberry juice. Oh, let me take a sip now, let me take a sip. A taste of cozy, a taste of cozy. But it's not all. Well, because I do not have a fireplace, fireplace, I want it to be warm, so I turn up the heating, turn up the heating. And, that's awesome, awesome, light some candles, light some candles around. Here are two over here. It's nice if they are scented candles, so they have this special nice smell. Scented candles, let me have a look. One is 'white tea and ginger', obviously ginger, and the other one, 'balance and harmony'. That's the names, that's the names of the scent, the smell. Also cozy. What else do we need? Yeah, some soft, soft light. Not a lot, just here and there, a little bit. Soft, delicate, warm light, that's important. Yeah, all is here, all is here. Oh, I almost forgot, I almost forgot. Oh yeah, some warm socks, blankets and layers, layers of clothes. Yeah, I love layers. I think it just runs in my family, we love layers of clothes to keep us warm and cozy. Yeah, and that would be it, that would be it. But maybe just one more thing missing here. Something in the background. Hmm, what could it be? Maybe some music. Soft, nice music. Oh, maybe just another episode of your favourite podcast. Enjoy your cozy listening time. That's good. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #106 LukeLikes「Focus」 | 30 nov. 2025 | 00:06:56 | |
Luke Likes 'Focus' Yeah, so everything is ready, I'm sitting and all the setup, setup, so the way my microphone and all the devices are organized, and my setup is ready and I am ready to record, record. Here we go, but wait, wait, I don't have my tea, come on, I can't do that without my tea. So wait a sec, wait a second, I'll be right back... Alright, I'm back, I am back with my hot hot tea. Ah, yeah, very hot, I like it this way. Delicious. Just perfect for a winter day like today. No, wait, it's not winter yet, just perfect for an autumn day, autumn day like today. Alright, so back to recording, back to recording and today's topic is focus, is focus, which by the way, by the way reminds me, reminds me that I need to take my laundry out, take my laundry out of the washing machine. So please give me a second again, I'm sorry, I'll be right back again... Okay, the laundry is out, the laundry is out of the washing machine and it is out to dry, to dry. And finally I can get down, get down to recording, which means start recording, start recording, as I said. I'm a little out of breath right now, because I was in a hurry, I was in a hurry. But I am so glad I remembered about the laundry, yeah, I was super focused, super focused, laser focused, even I can say laser focused, so very very much focused. Yeah, I'm glad that I didn't forget, yeah. And now back to recording, back to recording about, yeah, the focus because it is very very important to be focused on what you are doing... Excuse me again, I got a message over here. Oh, oh, you know what? Just found out, just found out that my parcel, my parcel is on its way, on its way, so it is coming, it is coming, and finally I will be able to, I will be able to pick up my parcel tomorrow, tomorrow. Oh can't wait, because it is this picture I ordered, I bought, and can't wait to have it on my wall, Yeah, you know, I keep changing stuff, I keep changing stuff around my place, and this is just another thing. Yeah, like, you know, you might remember, you might remember, I'm still waiting for the sofa, and a coffee table. Yeah, anyway, anyway, back to the topic of today's podcast, which is the focus, the focus, which, by the way, I'm very good at, I am very good, I am, well, maybe not the best, but I think I am doing pretty well. And whenever I want, I can focus on anything I need to. In fact, in fact, I am good at many things, not just that. I'm good at... oh, I know, I know. I keep saying that to people, and they agree, I'm super fast, I am super fast, and whenever something is falling, I will catch it. That's my thing, that's my thing... Oh, and focus, and focus. Oh my, look at the time, look at the time. I'm almost out of time, I'm almost out. I don't know how it happened, really. I guess I will tell you all about it in the next episode, in the next episode. And I have great ideas, I have great ideas, but before that, before that, just to let you know, I think I need to have something to eat, have something to eat. And then focus, yeah. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #105 LukeLikes「Go Left, Go Right」 | 23 nov. 2025 | 00:06:57 | |
Luke Likes 'Go Left, Go Right' Go where? Left? Right? Why? I am not going anywhere today. I am not going anywhere. It is snowy, it is snowy. Inside - good. Outside - bad. Don't go out. Now, actually, actually, it is pretty nice outside. It is snowing heavily, it is snowing right now for the first time, and it is pretty cold. And wet a little. Dark, also cloudy, but still, still quite beautiful, quite beautiful. So, maybe outside - good, inside - bad. So, about right now, about today, about right now, and today. No left, no right. Just today. I do have some time, and I am thinking what to do. I have a few ideas. One of them, one of them is to go out and, well, get the first experience of the winter, winter in November. November winter, pretty early. So, that's today. Maybe later on, later on, later on, today. Well, I have dinner as usual, family dinner, and as usual I record the episode. That's my usual thing to do on this day, and I am doing that, I am doing that right now. So, let's go left, left, and by left, I mean yesterday, last week, last month, maybe, last year, last year, in the past, very much, into left. So, when I go left, I mean the past. Yesterday, for example, I had a pretty busy day, not like today, but yesterday, I did, I did. I had quite a lot of things to do. I also wanted to find some time for workout, and unfortunately, I didn't, I didn't do, I didn't, I didn't find any, and I didn't find any energy either. I didn't find any, any, any energy either. But, believe me, believe me, I wanted, I wanted. I did find some time to do a little clean-up. So, I cleaned, I cleaned up the apartment a little bit, so I was happy about that. It wasn't that bad, because I had a nice evening to finish off the day yesterday. Yeah, and went to sleep quite early, so I could get some sleep, get enough sleep, because I didn't get it in the past week, I didn't get enough sleep. Alright, are you with me? That was the left. Let's go right then, let's go right. And when I say right, I mean, not the past, not the present, let's go into the future, into the future, back to the future. So, I am gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I am gonna, have dinner, I am gonna, well, obviously, hang out with my family after that. I'm sure it will be, it will be great, it will be great. Also, in the evening, I'm gonna go out, and I'm gonna take out my dog for a walk in the snow. That will be quite an experience for me and for him. And then, maybe I will do some work before tomorrow, because I will have to, I will have to get ready, but hopefully I will not have to spend a lot of time doing that. And then, I am gonna do some language learning, language learning. Well, can't wait, I can't wait. I am also, also gonna, well, find some time to do my workout, finally, to do my workout. And at the end of the day, at the end of the day, I hope I will have a nice, nice evening to finish off the day. I'm looking forward to it, I'm looking forward to it. And what about you then, what did you do yesterday, last week? Go left. What are you gonna do tomorrow, next week?Go right then. Or stay where you are, straight on, go straight on, here and now. Keep that in mind, please. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #104 LukeLikes「Motivation」 | 16 nov. 2025 | 00:06:48 | |
Luke Likes 'Motivation' Motivation, do you have motivation? Do you have enough motivation? Do you have enough motivation to do that, to do this, to do things? Are you motivated enough? Are you motivated? Because that's a mystery, so like a secret, and we wonder, was it really is. A mystery. How does it really work? Can you please tell me? Can you please tell me? Why am I motivated? Why am I not motivated enough to do exercise in the morning? I wake up and I wonder, 'Hmm, I want to do that today.' But yesterday, I didn't really want. I didn't feel like doing that. I didn't want to do that. I didn't feel like doing. Why is that? Yeah, morning exercise, a mystery. Or to work hard and do your best, do your best, which means to be as best as you can, do your best. Am I always motivated to do this? I don't think so. I would like to be. Yeah, that's for sure. Or to study, to study every day, to study three times a week, to be more regular. To keep coming back to studying. Are you motivated enough? Yes you are. Sometimes. Not always. But you do come back. You do. You always come back. So why is that? We struggle. We struggle. I struggle, so I have problems. I have problems doing that, I struggle to do something. To learn sometimes, to make myself do it, make myself do it. 'Oh, not today. Not today. I'm so tired. I don't feel like doing that.' I'm sure you feel like that from time to time as well. But then, for some reason, for some reason, you find motivation, find motivation to do that. So what is it? What is this motivation you have? What is this thing that pushes you, pushes you to doing things? You must get something out of this. You must, right? Do you get this satisfaction, satisfaction, and this is enough? Maybe. Do you want to be better and better? And that's great. Yeah, why not? Is it money? Maybe. Why not? Maybe you want to impress other people, impress, which means show to other people how good, how great you are, impress people. Yeah, good enough, good enough. Or you keep comparing yourself, keep comparing yourself to others. When you compare, you look at other people and think a little bit about them and yourself and think who's better here, who's worse and so on. Compare yourself. And that's your motivation. That is your motivation. Could be, could be. Or maybe it is just fun. And you get a kick, you get a kick out of it, which means it gives you this positive energy and you want to come back, you want to come back to doing that. Maybe it is like that. Maybe it is. But whatever the motivation, whatever the motivation is and however, however you struggle sometimes, I'm sure and you know that too, you will come back again and again. And you will feel motivated again and again. Because you know that not doing is much, much worse than doing. And this is what we really need to know here. So do things. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #103 LukeLikes「Sunday」 | 09 nov. 2025 | 00:06:42 | |
Luke Likes 'Sunday' It is a Sunday today. No work, no busy morning, no rushing out of the house, no big lists of things to do, No meetings, lessons, no traffic and busy streets. No shopping and no spending, money. And also no worrying that you're gonna be late and no worrying that you're gonna miss an appointment or forget about something important. No things like that. Sunday. Sleeping in, so sleeping a little longer. Then having breakfast a little later. Taking your time because nowhere to go. Listening to some music, to a podcast, maybe using social media a little, just taking your time, with your coffee. Just relaxing, sitting comfortably in an armchair. No need to hurry. No thinking about anything really. No thinking about problems, no problems on this day. Then the noon, maybe a little walk outside, taking your dog out for a longer walk, a longer stroll in the park. Slowly, without hurrying, looking around, noticing things. Noticing the weather and the nature. It's pretty cold and rainy, but no worrying about that, no worrying about that today. It's Sunday, no need for that. Then a little reading or watching or listening. Nothing really important, just fun stuff, easy. Maybe meeting the family, hanging out a little, having dinner. Then coffee, maybe some cake. No hurrying anywhere, not busy at all. No gym today and no studying, and no working either and not thinking about what important things there are to do the next day. No stuff like that on this day. A nap in the afternoon, no setting an alarm, no need for that. A sofa and a warm blanket. And some soft light. In the evening, maybe a movie, maybe hanging out with a friend, a long bath. An evening with music and candles. Just slow, quiet, peaceful time. Only, I am not sure I can do that. I think I, I'm just different. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #102 LukeLikes「The News」 | 02 nov. 2025 | 00:06:41 | |
Luke Likes 'The News' So here is the news for you. I have plenty. I have plenty of news. A lot of, plenty, a lot of, plenty of news from around the world actually. Well, this is going to be a very international, international episode. But also some local, local news. Do you follow the news? Do you follow the news? Maybe we shouldn't be doing that. At least not that much, not that much. But, oh come on, we know this is just fun, fun. Like this piece of, piece, piece of news, local news. I can tell you that they have opened, they have opened a new roundabout in the area. Do you know what it is? Roundabout? This part of round road, round road, in a town, in a city. Yeah, so they have just opened, they have just opened a new one. And must say it's high time, it is high time. Quite a lot of accidents over there without it. And big traffic, there was big traffic. Hopefully now it has changed, it has changed. Now, the world, the world. Oh, there has been a time change. There has been a time change, which, by the way, I'm not a big fan of, I'm not, I'm not a big fan of that. Oh come on, can we stop doing that? Please? Okay, anyway, there has been a time change. And, well, the day has become much, much shorter for us. Magically, magically. Alright, a piece of sports news, maybe. A big fan of sports, are you? No? Well, you might not know that but the new NBA season has started, the new NBA season, season has just started, so basketball, basketball season. It has been around a week now, it has been around a week now. And it's not like I follow that every day. But, you know, once a fan, always a fan. This is how it is. And now, let's move on to politics. Blah! Well, no big changes here. The politics has been awful. It still is. We have already seen it. We have already, already seen it all. I guess no, no news here, no big news. At least, not good news. Nothing good has happened. But, maybe not politics, but entertainment, entertainment. So, film and music. You know, I've just found out, I have just found out, so, I didn't know that and now I do I have found out there will be a new Beatles movie. You know, you might not be a fan. But come on, that's the Beatles. So, I don't know about you, I am pretty excited. Okay, that's for the news around the world, and me? Not much has happened. I can tell you, I have redecorated, redecorated my living room a little bit. And I have decided. I have decided I need a new sofa. Again. I haven't bought it. I haven't bought it yet but I have chosen the right one this time. Hey, do you need a sofa, by the way? Good condition. Comfortable. Two-seater. Let me know. And, oh, I have worked out I have worked out the problem with the insurance company. Yeah! There are people over there after all. Because somebody has responded, has responded. Yeah, good for me, good for me. So, I have solved the problem. And, yeah. Now, I guess, coffee time. Oh, oh yeah, I've just realised I have run out of coffee. And tea. Yeah, I have just realised I need to do some shopping. Well, it's your turn now. | #101 LukeLikes「Paperwork」 | 28 oct. 2025 | 00:06:46
Luke Likes 'Paperwork' So I am at work, I am working, I am working really hard. I shouldn't, I shouldn't be working because this is my day off. And it is my time off, so the time when I don't have to work, but I do, I do. And to be honest with you, to be honest with you, I quite hate that. So let me explain, let me explain. I am working, and well, there is a lot of paper around me, a lot of paper. And this is paperwork. Yeah, do you know what that is? Paperwork. Well, that's documents, forms, bills, and other pieces of writing. Well, documents in general, that you really, really, really have to do from time to time. I'm so sorry. Fortunately, I do not have to do that a lot, and I am trying to do this as quickly as possible, and come back to enjoying my life again. Oh, but not this time, not this time. Because you see, I got this piece of writing and documents, yeah, which I don't quite understand. Okay, but anyway, I got this document saying that I have to pay this car insurance. Oh, and I'm okay with that. I know that. I do that all the time. We do this all the time. And the point is, the point is, the point is, I have already done it. I have already done it. I have paid, and still I get this piece of writing. Yeah, and that's the moment I really, really don't like, because it really slows down the work. And as I said before, I don't want to be doing that. I want to be as fast as possible, and now I have to deal with that, so when you say deal with something, you have a problem, and somehow you have to find a way to get around this problem, deal with the problem, so that you don't have it. And this is what I was trying to do. I was trying to deal with this problem, and I called the insurance company. Well, it didn't work. It didn't work, because I couldn't find a real person to talk to about it. And the ideas they gave me over there didn't work, didn't work at all, didn't work. That's not the end. I had to go and see the insurance agent to help me with the problem, and what did he do? Well, he tried to call the same number and deal with this problem, as I did before, and he got the same result. We could say he failed, so he didn't get what he wanted. I failed, he failed. Oh, we both failed. So we failed to deal with the problem, we could say. So here I am, here I am, and I am trying to find a way, and I still have two solutions to try. One, try and explain everything in an email, and hopefully somebody will read it and react. And second, well, I'm going to take my car, which, by the way, is fully insured, and drive 600km to see somebody from the company, and, well, and say, 'Hey man, are you mad? Are you out of your mind? Why are you doing that to me? You made a mistake, and I have to pay for that?!' And to make things worse, to make things worse, I have to waste the whole day driving here. 'Come on, leave me alone, leave me alone!' I hope I won't have to do that, but I guess you know what I mean. So I'm stuck here on my day off, dealing with work, paper work. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #100 LukeLikes「I've Made It」 | 20 oct. 2025 | 00:07:42 | |
Luke Likes 'I've made it' Yeah, I have made it! I've made it! Oh my God! I'm so happy I have. And you, you have made it, you have, and because you have been following, you have been following me for 100 episodes, 100 episodes since, since the 9th of October, so I have been doing that since the 9th of October and it has been one year, one year. And I have made, I have created 100 episodes ... 99 episodes, this is the 100th one, But yeah, you have learned, you have learned, hopefully, hopefully, so I really hope you have learned something, and even a little more than that. Oh, it has been a long, long run, it has been a run because the idea, the idea behind this podcast is to give you the basis, the basis to listen, to communicate and to use, to use English better and better. And I have tried to do that in 10 steps. Let's have a little recap, recap, so let's go back in time. #1 So, in episodes from 1 to 9, from 1 to 9, I have given you, I have given you Basic Information , basic information about me, about you, about how to talk about yourself and how to talk about basic things, objects around you. #2 Step 2, episodes 10 to 19, I have talked about Towns And Places, also about time and everyday life, my everyday life and for you to copy that to copy and try and talk about your everyday life. #3 Then, step 3, episodes 20 to 29, Travelling. I have talked about countries and how to communicate when you travel. #4 Then, step 4, episodes 30 to 39 and that's Shopping. Cool, you have learned, hopefully, you have learned how to buy stuff, also how to sell stuff and, oh, maybe how not to buy too much, as I did. #5 Step 5, episodes 40 to 49, Fashion and Clothes. Oh yeah, I do remember that. I have talked about fashion and clothes and I'm such an expert right now. #6 And also, episodes 50 to 59, in step 6, I have talked about Food and Eating. Yeah, I'm an expert too, if you didn't know that, sure, sure. #7 Then, comes step 7, episodes 60 to 69 and that's Transport and Getting Around, where I talked about planes and cars and how I get around, get around. So that's transport and now, #8 Step 8, episodes 70 to 79, I have talked about Homes and Furniture and, well, our disappointment, disappointment, so when we are not happy with the place that we just rented. #9 Step 9, episodes 80 to 89 and that's Health And the Body, where you have learned, you have learned a lot, a lot about medicine, medicine and, well, okay, I'm an expert too, obviously, call me a doctor. #10 And the last step, step 10, episodes 90 to 99, a fun, fun, fun step, Hobbies And Interests, what we like and what we don't like, what I like and maybe you also like. So that has been 10 big steps, 10 episodes, every step of the way. And in between them, in between, there have been, there have been, grammar episodes, grammar episodes. Oh yeah, you have not noticed that, have you? Every third episode is a grammatical one: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and so on. So please listen to them carefully. One time, two times, three, four, five times, until you get them, get them. And if you have understood everything and if you can talk about yourself like that, you have made it, you have made it and you are ready for the next level. Yeah, so it has been a great, great run and I'm so happy, I'm really happy that I have made it, which means you have made it. Congrats to you and remember, Listen, Read, Repeat. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud - Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #99 LukeLikes「Experience」 | 12 oct. 2025 | 00:08:01 | |
Luke Likes 'Experience' Yes I am, I have done a lot and that's why I'm an experienced man. Am I? Really am I? Well, there is a way to find out, so to know. Let's do the quiz. Have you, have you, have you... Have you cried with happiness? Yes, I have. That's easy. Easy points. Have you cried at a film? Sure, I have. Have you cried at a funeral? A funeral, so the ceremony when a person dies. Unfortunately I have. The next one, have you bought yourself flowers? Yes, I have, i suppose i have. Have you been, be-was, were-been, have you been at a cinema alone? No, I don't think I have. Have you admited, so say that it's true, have you admitted that you snore? Hhave you grown a plant from a single small little seed? A seed, this little thing that you put in the ground when you want to grow a plant. And no, I haven't. Oh my, okay. Not many points so far. Let's move on. Have you written a poem for someone? For someone, no, i haven't. Have you caught a fish? No, I would never do that, let them be. Oh, that's a good one. Have you hitchhiked, have you hitchhiked in a foreign country? So stop a car and ask for a ride. Have you? No, i haven't, I haven't done that. And the next one, have you been on a plane alone? Ok, and the next one, have you thrown away all your childhood toys? Oh, I actually might have something left. I would need to check that so let's say yes, I have just for now. And now, have you bought an original work of art, a painting, a sculpture, something? No, haven't, I have not. And have you changed a baby's nappy? A lot of fun. Um, no I haven't. Have you been to the opera? Have you been to the opera? No. Have you changed a tire in your car? Yeah, you have a flat tire you have to change it, and no. Ok, no, I haven't. No, I have never done it, I have never felt this way. Alright, I'm almost done. Have you found a perfume that suits you, so is good for you, suits you? I'm still looking for it, I'm still looking. Oh, that's a good one, have you ever worried that your life is going nowhere? And obviously I haven't, come on, it is going somewhere. Ok, well, actually not that many points. Ok, over 90 and you can die tomorrow knowing that you have done everything and you know everything. That is not me. And then 80 to 90. an impressive score, you have nearly done it all. That's not me either. Ok, over 60, you have done quite a lot but you still have plenty of new experiences to try. Ok, that's almost me. Oh, here it is, this is me. Life must be fun for you, there's much you haven't done yet. Yeah. Oh, and there is one more question, one more question left. Have you answered all of these questions truthfully, truthfully? Well, life must be fun for you, there's much you haven't done yet. Life must be fun. Let's stick to that. Well, it's your turn now. | #98 LukeLikes「Not Really Into This」 | 05 oct. 2025 | 00:07:36
Luke Likes 'Not Really Into This' Yeah, I'm not really into a lot of things, and when you say you are not into, you are not into something, you don't really like doing that, and you are not a fan, a fan. So let's find out, find out more about that. Board games, board games. Yeah why not, why not, I am into board games, but I must say not a very very good player. Especially when it comes to chess. Wait, that's a board game right? Yeah, so I am into playing chess but need to get better, definitely better. Sure it is a lot of fun when a lot of people can join in, so do it together, join in. Cars. Oh, that's so funny, that is so funny. Okay, I am told, so my parents tell me, I am told that when I was a child, I was so so into cars, and I would cry, cry a lot if a book didn't have a picture of a car, or the story was not about cars. Yeah, and now, when I think of cars, I think, 'oh my goodness, what now, what do I have to repair now?' Oh, yeah, but alright, to be honest, overall, I don't mind, I don't mind, which means I am okay with that, I am okay with cars. Oh, pets, pets. Oh, obviously I am such a huge fan, I am a huge fan of cats, and dogs, and fish, and pigs, and horses, and mice, and giraffes, and squirrels, and tigers, and spiders, and birds, and... Okay, I think you know what I mean. Gardening, gardening. Well, I am into gardening, but how to put it, how to put it, let's say, gardening is not really into me,because the plants just hate me, hate me, and whatever I do, whatever I try, it all ends the same way, meaning not good, not good for plants. But I don't give up, I don't give up. Fashion and clothes. Well, I am a little bit into fashion, because I do choose clothes, the ones that I wear, but I don't follow, I don't follow fashion trends that much. But obviously I appreciate, I appreciate when somebody has a good sense, good sense of style. Yeah, let's leave it at that. Oh, interior design, interior design. So the way our houses and flats and buildings are designed and arranged, arranged. And yeah, I think I am a little bit into that as well. I think I don't know much about that, but certainly, certainly I am impressed, impressed when I see something new and interesting and I also can appreciate that. Oh, and then I want to have it, and that's a problem. Cooking, cooking. Oh, okay, the thing is this, I am not a food person, I am not a food person, but I am trying, I am trying, and cooking is not really my thing, it is not my thing, but on the other hand, on the other hand, I want to be better at that, and there are people around me that really want to help me with it. So I just need to follow, follow their lead, follow their lead, so basically listen to what they tell me, and just do it. But now, yeah, really, not my thing, it is not my thing now. I mean, yet. New technologies, new technologies. Oh my. Well, I think I am into this, well, who isn't, who isn't? I guess you have to be right now, and obviously it's very practical to take advantage of what there is out there, what there is out there. Take advantage, so use it, use it. So yes, I am, yes, I am, but I am not a huge fan, like some people are. Are you into this stuff, are you into this kind of stuff? I can tell, I can tell what you really are into. I am sure, and I really, really hope you are, and this is really your thing, because we are both huge fans, we are both huge fans. Yeah, that's right, it's languages, languages. Just crazy about them. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #97 LukeLikes「Be Bored」 | 26 sept. 2025 | 00:06:52 | |
Luke Likes 'Be Bored' I have a little free time right now, so what can I do? Why don't we go to the cinema? Why don't we go to the cinema and watch a movie? How about that? Nope? not a good idea? How about this? We stay at home and watch something at our place. What do you say? Nope? you don't like that? You don't like that? Alright, how about this? We go on social media and watch videos. You can't say no, you can't say no to that. Oh, come on. So you don't want to go and watch a movie at the cinema. Then you are telling me you don't want to watch anything at home. And even, you don't even want to watch a video on social media. Are you saying that we are not going to watch anything and just sit like that in silence? Is it really possible to do that? Oh, come on. Let's just at least put on some music. We cannot just sit like that in silence, can we? Why? Oh, I don't know why. It is just weird. It is strange. It is weird, strange. We don't do that, but I don't know why. But still, we don't, we don't. Or, maybe? Okay, here is my final idea. Tonight, let's not watch anything. And let's not listen to anything either. Let's not do that either. Let's not read, listen, scroll on your phone. Let's not talk. And let's not move. Let's not move either. Let's not go out. Let's just stay in. Let's not think about tomorrow. And let's not plan anything. Also, let's not worry about yesterday. Let's not go out and run. And let's not go out and go to the gym. No, let's not do that either. Oh, oh, oh, and let's not text. Let's not text our friends. Let's not do that. Let's not clean. Let's not paint. Let's not go out and do some shopping. Let's not be active. Let's not work, of course. Come on, this is free time.Oh, oh, oh, let's not go online. And let's not do online shopping. Let's not think what we are going to do on holiday. Let's not plan the dinner and what we need to buy to make it. So, what then? I have a little free time right now and I choose not to do anything. Can I really do that? Please? This is really harder than you think and I don't think we really do that anymore, or we can do that. And what I realized, realized is that I can't really do that myself, can you? Okay, so this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to put away my phone. Put away. I'm going to switch off the music. Switch off the TV. I'm going to sit down and not read. I'm not going to snack on anything. Snack or move too much. Just sit and relax and say to myself, 'hmm, this is quite uncomfortable'. I don't know why but I really, really, really feel uncomfortable right now because I feel like I should be doing something and I'm not. And this is so weird that I don't really remember last time I did that, but at the same time I feel okay with that. What is this feeling? I can't really remember what it feels like. Am I getting sick or something? Right now I would like to look it up, look it up and find out more about it but I don't have my phone around. Wait! No, it can't be true. No way! Wait! Am I getting bored? Yes, I am. And you know what? I like it. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #96 LukeLikes「Excited」 | 13 sept. 2025 | 00:06:42 | |
Luke Likes 'Excited' How are you feeling today? Hope everything is alright. And me? Well, I am feeling excited today. Because the weekend is coming. The weekend is coming and I'm feeling excited. Very excited about the weekend. I can't say why really, because nothing exciting is going to happen. Nothing exciting, but the weekend itself, weekend itself is pretty exciting. And I can do a lot of stuff that usually I do not have a lot of time for, like rest, having some rest. Yeah, we all need that. So now I am feeling excited. And at the end of the weekend, on Sunday evening, on Sunday evening, I think I will feel a little worried. I think you know why, I think you know why. I will feel a little worried, because the new week might be a little difficult. And it is a little worrying, worrying. And what else, what else am I feeling? I must say I am feeling a little tired, but not so much. But that was a long, long week so it was quite tiring, tiring. A lot of things to do, a lot of things to do. As usual. Well, I know I am also a little annoyed, annoyed, so a little angry and irritated, irritated, so annoyed, because of the weather. Yeah, it is very annoying when you have some free time and you cannot go out and do some sports, for example. Yeah, it is annoying and irritating, irritating. Yeah, well, it is what it is, it is what it is. I am not going to get depressed, depressed about that. But the weather might be a little depressing. Oh God, it is still summer time, it is still summer time. Anyway, anyway, I will also say I am not shocked by this bad weather. I am not shocked. The clouds, the rain, it's not really shocking to me. It isn't, it is not shocking at all. In fact, in fact, I am a little surprised actually. I am a little surprised because the temperature is not that bad, is not that low. So the temperature is quite surprising. It is still 20 degrees Celsius. So a little surprising that I am sure that a lot of people are not satisfied, are not satisfied with that. Yeah, those conditions, weather conditions are not satisfying. Okay, so what am I going to do at the weekend? I hope I can find something interesting to do, interesting to do. Let me think, I am interested, interested in languages of course. So I will study some languages. I am interested in sports, so I will do some interesting sports. And we will see. I am sure that I will not be bored, I will not be bored. But if I am, I have to say I am okay with that. I am okay with that. I just need some time to sit back, sit back and relax a little. And you know what? You should do it too, you should do it too. So sit back, relax and tell me, are you interested? Or are you confused because it is all confusing? Are you tired? Fascinated? Maybe you are worried? Maybe it is all annoying to you and you are feeling annoyed? I hope you are not too bored, too bored with that. And oh gosh, please don't say you are disappointed, disappointed. Enjoy the weekend! Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #95 LukeLikes「Peace And Quiet」 | 31 août 2025 | 00:07:26 | |
Luke Likes 'Peace And Quiet' Oh, free time, finally, finally, some free time. Ah, but imagine this, imagine you are lying in bed and you are at a hospital. How fun is that? How fun is that? Not really, not really. Well, we all know that. But, you do want to get better, so you need to stay there, for some time, some time. I'm sure you are very worried, worried about your health and what is going to happen. That's okay. And I'm sure you will get better eventually. And in the meantime, in the meantime, you can use this time. Hmm, is that free time, really? When you are in hospital? I wouldn't say that. But still, it is very, very different and you don't need to go anywhere. Well, you can't go anywhere. So, in that case, in that case, so in this situation, in that case, you can do quite a lot, quite a lot to keep yourself busy and hopefully, hopefully, so I hope, hopefully, make your stay a little fun. Hmm, let me think. So what can you do? What can you do? Hey, what did you do at a hospital? Well, I slept finally. I could sleep all day long, all day long. Yeah, you can do that, obviously. You need to sleep. Well, I need to sleep too. Oh my. Or, let's go to oldschool here, oldschool. How about reading a book, reading a book or a magazine? How about that? If not, obviously, you can watch a series, a movie, a video, a tiktok. Yeah, lots, lots of tiktoks. Okay, that is pretty obvious. And me, for example, I would spend a lot of time listening to podcasts. Maybe finding some new ones, finding some new ones or catching up on, catching up on the old ones, so, listening to the ones that I didn't have time to listen to before. Yeah. Free time. You have all the free time in the world right now. You could also talk to your friends on the phone, so call your friends and family to catch up. Again, catch up, because you didn't have time to do that before. So now that you are at a hospital, why don't you do it now? Hey, how have you been? How have you been? What's up? How's the family and the dog? Yeah, do that. If not, maybe a game. Yeah, let's find you a game of Sudoku. Oh, a crossword puzzle, crossword puzzle. Hmm, maybe in English. Oh, speaking of languages. No excuses right now. No excuses. You have all the time in the world to do some learning, to do some studying. Yeah, you might think you were a little behind, so you didn't do enough work. So now is the best time to do that. Yeah, at a hospital, exactly. And then do some shopping, online shopping. Oh yeah, that's a fun activity. Maybe some clothes or something for the house. Yeah, plan how to redecorate your house. How about that? Yeah, not a bad idea, actually. Not a bad idea. Okay, what else? Hmm, okay, maybe limit the social media for some time. And hey, you are into painting, right? So you like it, you like it, you like painting, you are into painting, or drawing. I think that's possible in a hospital bed, is it? You could also try and find a nice tutorial. So a little video to help you learn something new about painting, but maybe some other cool stuff, like playing an instrument. Well, you will not learn that at a hospital, but that's a nice start, that's a nice start. You will take up, take up something new. So start doing something new that you might like. Who knows, maybe this is something that you always wanted to do, like photography or gardening, DIY, like making new furniture by yourself. Or maybe finally you just want to have some peace and quiet, have some rest. Get some rest, and you will get better in no time. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #94 LukeLikes「Listen」 | 18 août 2025 | 00:06:52 | |
Luke Likes 'Listen' Hey, do you know what I realized? What I realized just now Well, that pretty much all the time, okay, not all the time, most of the time, so pretty much most of the time, every day, during the day, in the morning, in the evening I listen to stuff. I use my headphones for that. Oh, it depends, it depends, so whatever the situation is, it depends. Anyway, I listen to a lot of, a lot of stuff. Now, this is mostly podcasts in different languages. And different reasons so why I listen to them, reasons, but it used to be, it used to be a little different because that used to be mostly music. Yeah, I realized that it changed a little. And I am wondering if this is because of me, because I changed or because, well, the situation changed and the times changed as well. But whatever the reason, whatever it is, I still like music. Come on, who doesn't? And today, for example, I just remember it how much fun it is. How much fun it is to listen to some music you enjoy and, and, and this is really, really fun to explore, explore new music. I just love this feeling when you can find something totally, completely new. And you can't get enough of that. You just keep coming back and listen to that over and over again. I used to do that a lot when I was a teenager and later on in my life. And I remember back then, back then, I didn't need much more than that.Really, just me and my music. That was it. And now, okay, I don't want to say that. I don't have enough time for music. That just..., no, I will not say that. Now I just choose to listen to podcasts more than music. And when do I listen to music? Well, definitely when I do sports. I put on my earbuds and off we go. It makes the experience much, much more enjoyable this way. Enjoyable, so a lot of fun, enjoyable. Well, and I do not need to say that it gives a lot of energy. And I feel more motivated, motivated, yes, I do have motivation to keep going, just keep going. And obviously, this is more of an energetic upbeat, energetic upbeat, so quite fast music. Which, by the way, I do not listen to, I do not listen to when I'm not doing sports. So my playlist, so the list of music I listen to is a little misleading, misleading. So when you say that something is misleading, it gives you a wrong impression, misleading. Because this is just a part of me, and we could say just a part of me that needs this kind of music. Rock music, for example, not so much pop music. Otherwise, so if it isn't this or that, otherwise, it is much, much calmer. And my family used to say melancholic, that's a cool word, melancholic. Well, that's just sad music, let's say, sad. Not sad, but just feeling sad, in a way, in a way. And what is the best way to sound like that, to sound melancholic? Yeah, that's the piano, that's the piano, beautiful, beautiful sound. So this is what I'm going to do tonight, just me and my music. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing

Luke Likes 'I Like It' So again, again - Do I want to do it? Do I want to do it? Or do I like? Do I like doing it? Want to/Like. Obviously, I like doing it. We will see. Let's go. I like studying languages. I like studying, studying languages. And I love studying languages. And I enjoy studying languages. All of that. No surprises here. So, I like studying, I love studying, and I enjoy studying languages. Well, I enjoy doing other things too. And I love other things too, like I love playing with my dog. Yeah, let's leave it at that. But also, I hate doing a lot of things. Oh, the list can be very long here. I hate doing paperwork. I hate doing paperwork. It means I hate doing all the office work and documents, things like that. And I can't stand, I can't stand. Oh, I know. I can't stand waking up early morning. I can't stand doing that. Yuck. And I prefer, I prefer waking up a little later. So, I hate doing paperwork. I can't stand waking up early. And I prefer waking up a little later. But still, in the morning. Well, I'm a hater here. Whatever. And now, I started. I started learning. I started learning a new language. Portuguese. So great. And I stopped, I stopped worrying. I stopped worrying about everything. That's not true. Yeah, I would like that. And I spend, I spend too much time. I spend too much time... Sometimes I spend too much time deciding, deciding what to buy. So I spend too much time deciding what to buy. Actually, I do. I hate this. So, I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying too much. And I spend too much time deciding what to buy. Just three more to go, okay? Three more. Oh, I'm not very good. I'm not very good at, I'm not very good at playing tennis. I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. I keep playing. I keep playing regularly. Yeah, I don't give up. I just keep playing. And how about, how about, or what about? So, oh, how about playing tennis today? How about playing tennis today? What do you think? What do you think? How about, how about playing? Yeah, sounds good. Sounds really, really good. So, I'm not very good at playing. But I keep doing that. How about playing with me today? How about playing with me? Okay, so time for a recap. I like studying and I enjoy studying and I love studying languages. But I hate doing paperwork and I can't stand waking up in the morning, early morning, and I prefer waking up a little later. And now I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying, worrying too much. And, oh, I spend too much time deciding what to buy. And finally, I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. So, how about joining me? How about playing with me? And maybe teaching, teaching how to be better at that? Well, I have to say, I have to say, it's really not the point. I'm just having lots of, lots of fun. Have fun learning new things. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing
| #92 LukeLikes「Good For Your Body」 | 03 août 2025 | 00:07:57 | |
Luke Likes 'Good For Your Body' Summer time. Summer time is great. That's a great, great time. And it is even better when you get to have some free time for yourself. Well, not everyone can have it, unfortunately. But still, still, it is an awesome, fantastic time. How do you spend that time? I'm sure you are travelling, get to know new places, and get to do new things. Oh, that's nice - try and experience, experience. So in English, when you say you experience new things, you, well, you just do them, maybe for the first time, and you will remember what it is like to do it and try it. Pretty cool. Good for you, good for you. And me? Well, I have my sports. Yeah! So if someone asked you, 'what would you do if you had some free time? What would you do then?' Would you meet your friends? Maybe. Would you travel? Yeah, definitely. Would you get some rest and watch something? Maybe go out and see people. Yeah, all of them are great ideas. I'm sure. But me? I do sports. Well, and languages. I am crazy about that too. Today, for example, I got to play basketball. About two hours, two hours, outdoors, and that was amazing. I felt really good. Now I feel tired, but at the same time, I feel happy because this is what I get from basketball. And I used to, used to play volleyball as well, volleyball. It is not very popular in every part of the world, but some countries play volleyball a lot, quite a lot. And this is a lot of fun. Yeah, I used to play on a team at school, but I had to choose between basketball and volleyball. That was just too much. But then I also played with my friends, very regularly, regularly. Oh, wow, that's a difficult word to say in English. Rregularly. So I did, and I still would like to do that. What else? I need to tell you that all my family is a little crazy about sport. So they are all runners. For example, my younger brother and my older sister are right now actually at a runners' camp in the mountains. Imagine that! And they get to run pretty much all the time, I suppose. But from what they tell me, this is a morning practice and an evening practice. And in between, there are some sessions, meetings and workshops, so the time when they instruct them, how to get better at the technique, technique. And believe me or not, there is a lot of technique involved, involved, so about it. yeah, involved, a lot of technique. Yeah, and my older brother used to swim a lot. He used to be a swimmer, and he took part, he took part in competitions, sports competitions, at school, at school, obviously. And he rides a bike a lot, he runs as well. Like my father, my mum is also very active, and my cousins, all of them. So it is very natural, natural for me to do sports. Oh, and obviously I love tennis. It is just amazing. And at the same time, very frustrating, frustrating. Do you know this feeling, to feel frustrated? I'm sure you do. When something doesn't go your way, you feel frustrated. This is what tennis gives me a lot. But from time to time, it is also fun. Hmm, what else, what else? Walking is a great sport. Well, maybe not a sport, but a great, great activity. And going to the gym. Oh, a lot of people do that. Yeah, and I do that myself. I quite like it, but it is more of a routine for me. Yeah, and there is a lot, a lot, a lot more sports. Ooh, windsurfing, cool. Football, hmm, yeah, why not? Oh, handball, that's a team sport, handball. Oh, and yoga. Yeah, this is so, so good for your body. Hmm, like all the sports. Do sport. Good for your body. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing
| #91 LukeLikes「Maniac」 | 22 juil. 2025 | 00:06:54 | |
Luke Likes 'Maniac' It's summer time. It is summer at last. Well, not at last, but it's the middle of July right now. The middle of, the middle of July. So it must be summer, it must be summer time, at least in this part of the world, in this part of the world, of course. And here is a question: What is summer best for? What is summer best for? Is it best for holidays? Yeah, sure it is, but not that. Is it best because you have a lot of rest? Yeah, a little bit, yeah, but not that. Oh, I know, I know. It is best because you get plenty of sun. Yeah, we do like the sun, but no, it's not that. It is best because you get to do, so you have a chance to do. you get to do whatever you like, whatever you like. This is at least how I see it, so this is my opinion, I think so. I see it this way. And to be honest, I see it every year with me. And I ask myself, what do I like? And I like languages. You just must know it by now. But what I noticed, so I saw it, I noticed, is that somewhere around summertime, every year, I get this new energy to listen, read, talk, and explore so that I can't get enough of that, I cannot get enough. Oh, I love this feeling. Especially when I get to explore something new. And surprise, surprise, not a surprise for me, this happens regularly, I must say. So here is what happened actually. So the other day, the other day, which in English means not long time ago, a few days ago, so the other day, I was talking to one of my students and her family lives in Portugal. And very often, actually, we were wondering, 'Hmm, how do you say this in Portuguese?' Or 'Hmm, what is this in Portuguese?' 'How do you say that in Portuguese?' I think you know what happened next. Aha, Portuguese happened. Now I want to know everything about it. To read, to listen, to understand, to be able to say a few words, a few sentences. To know 'What is this in Portuguese?', 'What is that in Portuguese?' And the fact that we can do that together makes it so much fun and much, much easier. So we use some materials, apps and obviously podcasts, which is an amazing help. So we focus, focus on listening and, well, trying to figure out, which means to understand, try and understand, to figure out what it really means and how it really works. Yeah. And you know what? I have no idea where this is going. I have no idea. And people often keep asking me, so ask me a lot, a lot, keep asking me, in general about languages, but for example, Portuguese, 'Hey, Luke, you're learning Portuguese, right? Why are you doing that? Do you want to go there?' Hmm, maybe. But I'm not planning to. 'Maybe you want to work there?' Hmm, not really. I'm not thinking of that at the moment. 'So why on earth would you do that? Why on earth would you learn it?' And I don't really know what to say and how to react because the answer is so obvious to me. The goal is not to go there or to work there or even to be able to speak fluently, fluently, so speak very well. I realized, I realized that the goal is something different. Learning and exploring. That is the goal. That is the goal. And why? For one thing, it makes me happy, but it is also because I'm obsessed. And I'm a maniac. And I love it. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing
| #90 LukeLikes「Want It」 | 18 juil. 2025 | 00:05:52 | |
Luke Likes 'Want It' So, do I want, do I want to do it? Do I want it? Do I want to do it or do I like doing it, doing it? Want to. Like. Hmm, good question, a good question. Let's have a go. So, I want to, I want to, I want to, oh I know, I want to get some sun today, I want to get some sun. And I am trying to, I am trying to get some sun, I am trying to spend some time outside, I am trying to, to, I am trying to spend some time outside. But I have to, I need to, I have to, I have to, I have to, I have to work, I have to work, So, I want to get some sun, I am trying to spend some time outside, but I have to, or I need to, I need to work. Alright, are you with me? Are you with me? I hope you are. And now, I decided, I decided to, I decided to take a break, I decided to take a break. Because I would like to, I'd like to, I would like to, well, eat something, have something to eat. And I hope to, I hope to do it by the end of my break, yeah, I hope to. So, I decided to take a break, because I would like to have something to eat, and I hope to do it before the end of the break. And now, it is not easy, it's not easy to rest, it's not easy to, it's not easy to rest, you know, because of the dog, the dog. I asked him to, I asked him to, I asked him to be quiet, be quiet, I asked him to be quiet and I told him, I told him to, well, I told him to try and understand me. I'm not really sure if that worked. And finally, I get the impression, I get the impression that my life used to be, used to be easier, used to, used to be easier. So, it's not easy to work, it's not easy to work, and I asked my dog to be quiet, and I told him to, told him to understand me just a little, and my life used to, used to be easier, much easier. So, are you with me on that? Are you following, are you following what I am trying to, trying to say here? Because I'm doing all of that, all of that to help you, to help you understand, understand. So, just to recap, so say all again, to recap:
Yeah, so that's all I had to say. That's all I had to say about that. But to be continued. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing

I'll try that. Thanks a lot. You are saving my life again. I owe you one. I owe you one. So you did something nice for me and I will do the same in the future. Well then, now I need to wait and see. Wait and see if it is all worth it. Worth it. If not, I will need to go again and try again and again and again until I am better. And if not, you know, I'll have an apple. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. We will see. Get well soon. Well, it's your turn now. | #88 LukeLikes「Injured」 | 04 juil. 2025 | 00:06:47
Luke Likes 'Injured' It is a good day today, it is sunny, it's a really beautiful weather, and even better was yesterday. A great day, a great day for sports, outdoors. I love it, very, very hot, but still, that's just perfect weather for me to do sports outside. And so I did, so I did. And what happened? Well, an injury happened, injury. Do you know what it is? An injury, get injured. It happens when you do something to your body, by accident usually, when you fall down, for example, or you make a sudden, a quick, sudden movement. And that's what happened to me. But let me tell you all about it from the beginning, from the beginning. So, I couldn't wait for the great weather to come, and so it did yesterday, and well, I was so excited to play tennis, to play tennis, but at the same time, I felt that my arm, my right arm, wasn't feeling very well. I didn't know what it was, but something was wrong with it, something was wrong. I was not injured at the time, but I was not one hundred percent, I can say, I was not, but still, so excited that nothing could stop me, nothing. And now I'm injured. Yeah, I felt it just after I finished playing. It was a pain in my elbow, and it was getting worse and worse, so that at night, I actually woke up at night, and had to move it a little bit, move my arm a little, because it hurt so much. And the next day, I felt that it is really bad, it is really bad. If you look at it, you can't say that something is wrong with it, but when I want to lift things, so lift, pick up heavy objects, for example, when I want to lift something, I cannot do that. And even the smallest things. So that's an elbow injury, I suppose, and it's definitely, definitely, because of playing too much with my right hand, that's how I do that. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm also worried that I will need some treatment, treatment, and rehab after that. But for now, for now, this is just pain killers, that's how I start, and hmm, well, googling a lot, googling elbows and arms, connected to tennis. And surprise, surprise! It's a very common thing, it's very common, common, that means very popular, and it happens quite often when you play tennis. So I'm trying to manage the pain with painkillers, and we'll wait, but then, if that doesn't work, I might need to see a doctor, and probably they will run some tests, which is okay, I'm fine with that. But, well, the worst thing, the worst thing that can happen is that I will not be able to play, I will need to pause, I will need to have a break from sports and tennis, especially. I hate that, I hate that, I really don't want to do that, So I'm really hoping that my arm will heal nicely. When I say heal, it means that it will get better, heal. I must say that when I was a little younger, it used, it used to heal quite fast and nicely. Now it takes a little more time. I don't get injured that much, so I think it's quite normal, it happens. It's one of those things, one of those things that happen from time to time. So the plan is that I will wait and see, I will wait and see. If nothing happens, if nothing happens, well, I might start learning to play with my left hand, why not. Left-handed player, a lefty. They are very cool, by the way. I wanna be cool. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #87 LukeLikes「Sophisticated」 | 29 juin 2025 | 00:07:14 | |
Luke Likes 'Sophisticated' Hey, it's Sunday today, it is Sunday again, welcome Sunday, and still windy, still windy. I can't catch a break, I can't, it is just non-stop, non-stop. Also for some reason it is a little difficult to focus today. No idea why. Maybe because of the wind, because of the wind. So it is hard to focus and that's just too bad, too bad because I do want to be sophisticated and complex today. Maybe not be, but just sound like that, sound. So, complicated, to make complicated sentences, to have complicated ideas, to sound sophisticated. And I love this word 'sophisticated'. I know a lot about a lot of interesting, important things. I'm sophisticated. So let's not be simple, let's be complex and sophisticated, But how, how? Easy. That's an easy way, that's an easy way. It will make you sound sophisticated. Quite simple. That's an easy way WHICH makes you sound sophisticated. Much better, much much much more complex and sophisticated. Yeah, we can go on and on like that, At least I will try, because still not very focused, I'm not very focused today, WHICH is not very easy. Which, which is, which is not very easy. Okay so far so good. Now, I have a friend, I have a friend. She is very sophisticated. So, I have a friend WHO is very sophisticated. And she talks a lot. I have a friend WHO talks a lot. So this time, who, who talks a lot, who. Yeah, sounds very sophisticated, very. Okay, so today is Sunday, today is Sunday. I am very active on this day, usually. So, Sunday is the day WHEN I am very active, Sunday is the day when I am very active. Maybe not that very active, just active, let's leave it at that, active, And I usually have a family dinner, I usually have a family dinner. It is usually around 3pm. Early dinner, very early dinner. So, I have a family dinner, WHICH starts usually at around 3pm on a Sunday, on a Sunday. Does it sound sophisticated enough to you? Does it sound sophisticated? I am sure it does. Yeah, right. Okay, and... Oh I am looking outside, still windy. By the way, this wind is blowing from the west, from the west. So, that is the wind WHICH is blowing from the west. Oh, this wind and the weather, I am talking about it all the time, it seems, all the time. So, this wind is something THAT, that I am talking about all the time. This wind is something that I am talking about all the time. Well, not that easy, not that easy. Very sophisticated. So I am looking outside, I am looking outside and I just remembered I need to water my plants. I do that once a week, once a week, usually. They are the plants (THAT) I water once a week. They are the plants I water once a week. I am a sophisticated gardener, Yeah, they do need watering, especially the young ones, the young ones. I actually bought some of them, some of them last week, last week. So, they are the plants WHICH I bought last week. I really hope they are going to be fine in this wind, I would be very very upset about that. So this is something (THAT) I would be very upset ABOUT. This is something that I would be very upset about. So be sophisticated, put your ideas together like that, WHICH is useful and actually not that hard, not that hard, to sound sophisticated. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #86 LukeLikes「Off Day」 | 22 juin 2025 | 00:07:03 | |
Luke Likes 'Off Day' It's Sunday today, it's Sunday, it's beautiful, it's beautiful, but this wind, oh god, it is very, very windy. I don't know why, I have no idea. Well, how should I know? How should I know? So, what I do know, what I do know is that first, my plants don't like that, don't like that at all. And second, no tennis and no basketball outdoors today either. Life. Either way, either way, so anyway, either way, either way, I'm having a pretty good day, a pretty good day. It's summer and Sunday after all, after all, so I should not complain about anything, but sometimes everything should be fine, but for some reason, reason, for some reason, you don't feel all that well, all that well. Do you know this feeling? Do you know? Unfortunately, I do too, I do too. And I'm wondering, am I sick of something? Or what is wrong? What is the matter? What is wrong? Nothing hurts, nothing hurts. I don't get any symptoms, at least, I can't see any. But still, still, I'm having an off day. Do you know what an off day is? Well, exactly that, exactly that. It's not the best day for you. You are feeling a little down, maybe tired. You try one thing or another thing and you can't get any satisfaction. That is an off day. That's how I see it, that's how I see it. So, physically, you are alright, but mentally, mentally, so in your head, so to speak, mentally, you are not feeling okay, you are not feeling okay. What do you do then? What do you do? That's a good question. Medicine, take the meds. No, no, no, that's not what I recommend. Probably, probably, the answer is a little different for everybody. So, for me, that could definitely, definitely be doing sports, doing sports, especially outside, outdoors. Well, not today and damn it. That's okay, not that bad. So, when I do sports, I get really, really tired, but at the same time, at the same time, I can free my head of any problems I might have at the moment. And that's how I cope, I cope, so I manage on an off day, on an off day. Actually, I used to think that I love sports and I love to be active, but now, I'm sure that this is a coping strategy, a coping strategy that helps me more mentally, mentally than physically. That's incredible, really, and it's funny how it works. I'm sure this is not just me. My whole family, my whole family seems to function like that, and they are very, very like me, or I'm very like them. We cope in the same way, do sport. Not to keep fit, keep fit, but to feel better, feel better, on an off day especially, and I'm sure that other people do that too. One of my students, a very busy man, a businessman, a businessman, so a lot of things on his mind, which means a lot of problems, a lot of worries to think about. So he just started, started going to the gym regularly, regularly, regularly, and I saw him the day after that, and he was in such a pain, in such a pain, he could hardly walk because his muscles were so sore, painful, sore muscles. So I smiled and asked him, oh wow, you must feel horrible, you must feel horrible. So that's it for you, right? Are you kidding? Are you kidding?, he said. Can hardly walk, but never felt better, never felt better. And this is exactly what I mean. On an off day, just turn it on, turn it on. That's my medicine. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #85 LukeLikes「Surgery」 | 20 juin 2025 | 00:07:06 | |
Luke Likes 'Surgery' Well, this is windy today. Oh my goodness. I thought I could play some basketball outside, outdoors, outside. But no, no, that's not going to happen. It is a little cold, sure, but also this is so annoying, annoying when you do that in the wind. So no, I'm not going to do that to myself today, maybe tomorrow. Anyway, anyway, I'm here, recording, recording, and I found out, I found out, well, nothing good, actually, nothing good. My friend is going to have a surgery, surgery. So in other words, in other words, she is going to go to a hospital and doctors are going to put her on the table, open her body and fix, fix her hip. Because this is a hip surgery. Do you know what a hip is? Hip, hip, hip, like hip hop. No, nothing to do with music this time. Nothing to do, nothing to do with music. This is the top of your leg, of your leg that connects to your waist. Yeah, this is as close as I can explain that. So we all have two hips, the left one and the right one. And the problem with her hip, the problem with her hip started quite a long time ago, I can remember that. So we can say she has a lot of issues, issues, so problems, issues with her hip. And first she felt uncomfortable, just uncomfortable, but then it became worse and worse so that she couldn't sleep at night. And that's a real issue when that happens. So what do you do? Well, first of all, you take painkillers, painkillers to kill the pain, to manage the pain. And this is what she did, what she tried. A lot actually, a lot. Didn't help much, didn't help much. So what else can you do? You can look for help. So she made a lot of appointments with a lot of doctors. She had a lot of tests on her hip and on her leg. Because it turns out, it turns out it is all connected. It's not a surprise actually that one issue is connected with another one. It's all connected. She also tried physiotherapy, physiotherapy, so treatment on your body from a physio, from a physio, like massage and special exercises. Didn't help, didn't help unfortunately. So finally, finally after all this time, she is sure she has to have a hip surgery. There is no other way. Yeah, that's what we can say here. No other way than a surgery. So she set the date, set the date and it will obviously take place at a hospital. It will not take a lot of time actually, around one, two hours maybe. Well, I'm not sure about that. But the day after that, after the surgery, she will have to start recovery, recovery, recovery time. So she will have to get back to normal, get back to normal. She will stay at a hospital for a few days and then another stage, so another step, another stage will start, the rehab, rehab stage. So it means she will try and move, move her leg a lot and after a few weeks, come back to her regular activities, regular, everyday life. Which is optimistic actually, because now she might be worried and she is, she tells me, she is in a lot of pain, in a lot of pain and she cannot live like that anymore. But after that time of surgery, recovery and rehab, she will start a new, a new, a new life and this is very uplifting, uplifting. So she must remember that, the good days are coming. Luke Likes 'Something You' Something you have, something you do, something you eat, something you get, something you give, something you are, something you... a lot of things, that's a lot of things. Let's play. So it is something you are, it is something you are when you are not feeling very well, and it is something a doctor can help you with. Do you know? Yeah, you are sick or ill, sick ill, or you have an illness or sickness. Alright, let's move on. It is something a doctor does, so not you this time. It is something a doctor does to help you, and it is something that a doctor does to find out what is wrong with you, medically, wrong medically, not mentally? Do you know? Yeah, examine, doctor examines you, examines. Alright. This time it is something you have, it is something you have to get treatment, so to get help from a doctor or a hospital, and it is something you pay for, it is something you pay for regularly. Yeah, sorry. Do you know? Yeah, this is your medical insurance, medical insurance. Alright, and now, it is something you really want, it is something you really want when you are not healthy, and it is something you hopefully, hopefully, finally do when you get better, you get better after an illness. Do you know? Yeah, you recover after an illness. Yes you do, yes you do. Alright, time for the next one. It is something you feel, and it is something you feel when something is not right with your body, and it is something you should talk about when you have an appointment with a doctor. Do you know? Yeah, they are your symptoms, your symptoms. I'm sorry, I'm getting sicker and sicker over here. Stay with me, stay with me. So this is something you can show to a chemist, chemist or pharmacist. It is something that sometimes, sometimes is on prescription, prescription from a doctor, and finally it is something that can have a long list, a long list of side effects, we don't want them, but yeah, they do, they do have long lists of side effects. Do you know? Yeah, it's medicine, medicine or meds. Not a big fan of those. Okay, a few more to go, a few more to go. It is something you feel, it is something you feel sort of in your head, and it is something you feel in your head sometimes when you feel weak and you want to sit down for a second. Do you know? Yeah, that's dizzy, dizzy, you feel dizzy. Funny word, funny English word, dizzy. Alright, so it is something you get, it is something you get when you are allergic, allergic, and it is something you get in case of, in case of emergency. Very serious, very serious situation. Do you know? Yeah, it's an injection, injection or a shot, shot also good. I mean not good, you know what I mean. Alright, here comes the last one, the last one. It is something you feel and it is something you feel and you really, really want to do something about that really, really, really bad. So it is something you feel, you want to do something about it and you want to scratch it, scratch it, scratch this because if you don't you feel like you're going to explode. Do you know? Yeah, it's itchy, itchy. It is something you have, it is something you do, it is something you are, it is something you feel... Yeah, and it is something you listen to, my podcast. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #83 LukeLikes「Painless」 | 13 juin 2025 | 00:06:57 | |
Luke Likes 'Painless' Painless, without pain. Who doesn't want that? I do, I do, I do, yes please. Yeah, that would be nice, that would be nice, definitely ff we could live without pain. Maybe one day, but for now there are treatments, so there are some ways to get better, treatments. And thank God, thank God. So let's take a cold, for example. If you catch a cold you can always find some treatments. Well, first thing, first thing you should do is stay in bed, stay in bed, and get plenty of rest. That's for sure. And besides that, drink plenty of fluids, fluids, yeah. Well, I do sound like a professional medical help. I am not, definitely I am not. But that is what I would do. Seems reasonable, reasonable. And in case of fever, if you run a fever, so you have a high body temperature, maybe take an aspirin. And for runny nose, runny nose, don't forget about the tissues, tissues. That's all you can do here. But overall, not that serious, not that serious. Not as serious as injuring your leg, for example. Injuring your leg might be a little more tricky, tricky to treat. So first of all, if there is a swelling, I would put some ice on it, put some ice, Ice, ice, ice pack on it to keep it cool, keep it cool. Yeah, that would definitely help the swelling. You could also try and rub in some ointment, ointment. And it's definitely good to avoid, avoid exercise if you injure your leg. But if that doesn't help, well, it's time to see a doctor and run some tests. Probably you should have an x-ray, x-ray, and then see what's next, what's next. And then it gets really serious. Well, it might, it might, it doesn't have to, obviously. Hope, let's hope for the best, let's hope for the best. Let's hope it is not broken, it is not broken. And let's hope you don't have to put it in a cast, in a plaster cast. Yeah, and what if you feel exhausted, very, very tired. All the time, that seems like a complex issue, complex, so complicated problem, difficult problem. Well, obviously you need plenty of rest and plenty of good sleep, good quality sleep. Not that easy for me, actually. Perhaps, perhaps, so maybe, perhaps it's the diet. So you should follow a specific diet. You should definitely not forget about regular exercise. And if that doesn't help, maybe run some tests. And see a specialist, see a specialist, and that's the way to go. And finally, what to do if you cut your hand, in the kitchen, for example, while cooking, while cooking. Happens to everyone, happens to everyone. Well, you need to stop the bleeding, stop the bleeding, so stop the blood from coming out. So if it's small, you can put on a small bandaid, bandaid, or plaster, a plaster, a bandaid, or bandage it, bandage it. Anyone can do that. Not everyone can put on the stitches if the cut is very serious, you get that at the hospital. Don't try and do that yourself. That's a no-no. And maybe a painkiller, painkiller, to help and manage, manage the pain. But if not, well, call an ambulance, call ambulance, and go to hospital. There is no way around it, no way around it then. Sorry. We do want it to be painless, painless, don't we? Yeah, let's keep it this way. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #82 LukeLikes「Top To Bottom」 | 08 juin 2025 | 00:06:20 | |
Luke Likes 'Top To Bottom' Top to bottom of the human body, human body. Can you keep up with me? Can you keep up with me? We will see. Let's go, top to bottom. First head, head over here, and hair on it. Inside - brain, brain. We've got two eyes, a nose, and mouth. Two cheeks on the side, and two ears. Oh, let's not forget about eyelids, eyelids, and eyebrows. Am I forgetting anything? Maybe a chin, a chin. And in the mouth, we've got tongue, and teeth, and teeth, one tooth, not one tooth, many teeth, I hope. Alright, we are done with the head, and we're moving down, we're moving down. So here is the neck, neck, and two shoulders on the left and on the right. Yeah, I've got it. We've got an arm, arm, two arms, and elbows, elbows in the middle, and down to hand, and a palm, a palm. So we have a wrist, then a palm with five fingers, and fingernails, the nails. And, oh yeah, one of the fingers, a thumb, a thumb, like thumbs up, a thumb. Okay, we're done with arms and hands. Let's come back to the middle part, and here's the chest, and abdomen, abdomen, inside, oh, plenty of organs inside. I'm not going to draw them, such as heart, and liver, and two lungs, two kidneys, stomach, and intestines. Yeah, maybe that's enough. There's plenty of other things too. Oh, also, breasts, and belly button, belly button, this small little thing in the middle. Wow, I'm good at this, I'm good at anatomy, and this small little thing in the middle. And let's go down. So we've got this waist, waist, waistline, and hips, hips, that's correct. And then, well, men's parts, ladies' parts, and then we've got legs. So we start with two thighs, thighs, and knees, then knees, and then down to shins, shins. And in the back, there are calves, two calves, and ankles, oh yeah, ankles. So we are almost there. So now, two feet with toes, not fingers, toes, and toenails. Alright, and if we look at the back right now, we've got the back, and this spine over here, then comes, well, bottom, the bottom, and parts of the leg. That's calf, calf, and oh, we've got that already, and heels, heels, the back part of the foot. Am I forgetting anything? Am I forgetting? Well, there is a lot of other parts. Vains, cells, bones, joints, and oh, muscles, obviously muscles. Wow, I am getting good at this. I am getting good at this. So take care of all of them, all of them, and stay healthy, from top to bottom. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #81 LukeLikes「To Be Continued」 | 01 juin 2025 | 00:06:53 | |
Luke Likes 'To Be Continued' Finally, finally found some time to be here. I found some time to be here, and I'm recording, I'm recording. I didn't know if I could make it, but I am, I am recording. I'm glad, because I was having dinner, I was having dinner with my family, and I was hanging out with them, maybe a little too long, too long, because it's Sunday, and thought, 'Oh, I have a podcast to make'. I have to do that now, because I still want to play basketball today, and the day is short, so one hour from now, in one hour, I will be playing basketball, hopefully. So, now, this is just perfect time for recording. So, one hour ago, I was having dinner. In one hour, I will be playing basketball. But now I am recording. I was. I will be. I am. I am doing that right now. So, how about we play this game? What am I doing right now? What am I doing right now if one hour ago, maybe not one hour, maybe 30 minutes ago, I was having a shower, and in 15 minutes, I will be sleeping. So, I was having a shower, and in 15 minutes, I will be sleeping. What am I doing right now? Time to think. Yeah! I am reviewing. I am revising, reviewing flashcards with new words. I am before going to sleep. All right, do you get it? Do you get the idea? Let's go with the next one. Fifteen minutes ago, I was coming back home, I was on my way back home, I was coming back home hungry, and in 15 minutes, I will be cooking. What am I doing? What am I doing right now? Time to think. Yeah! That's right. I am doing the shopping, I am doing the shopping right now. And here comes the next one. So, fifteen minutes ago I was coming back home, again, I was coming back home, and in fifteen minutes I will be having something to eat. Yeah, what am I doing right now? Do you know? Time to think. Yeah! You don't know that. Definitely, you don't know that. Yeah, I am walking my dog, I am walking my dog in the evening. That's right. Okay, and another one. Fifteen minutes ago, I was having dinner. And in fifteen minutes, I will be having coffee. Having coffee and some cake. Yeah, why not? Having coffee and some cake. What am I doing right now? Time to think. Yeah! Yeah, I am doing the dishes, I am doing the dishes, after dinner. So, maybe one more, one more. Okay, fifteen minutes ago. No, that's not fifteen minutes, maybe one hour ago I was very nervous, and I was looking through my notes, I was looking through my notes. And in fifteen minutes, I will be, ooh, relieved. I will be relieved, and I will be maybe celebrating, celebrating, hopefully. What am I doing right now? Time to think. Yeah! Yeah, I am taking an exam, I am taking an... Very stressful, very stressful. I know you are not taking an exam right now because you are listening to this episode right now. What were you doing 15 minutes ago? Were you cleaning? Were you working? Were you swimming? And in 15 minutes? Will you be sleeping? Will you be learning? Will you be celebrating? I don't know. What will you be doing after this, after this episode? Maybe practicing. Yeah. Not a bad idea. Not a bad idea. Please do continue. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #80 LukeLikes「Painful」 | 30 mai 2025 | 00:06:40 | |
Luke Likes 'Painful' Yeah, it seems, it seems like today's episode will be a little painful. Yeah, it will have some pain. Are you in pain? Are you in pain? I hope not, I hope not, but that's part of life. Do you feel pain in your leg? Do you feel pain in your knee, for example? Or, is your leg painful? Is your leg painful? Is your arm painful? Oh, that's too bad, too bad, if it is. Or, where does it hurt? Where does it hurt? Oh, my foot hurts, my foot hurts. Where does it hurt? Over here, over here, it hurts, over here, it hurts really, really bad. Does it hurt a lot? Does it hurt a lot? Yeah, yeah. Oh, I hit my foot, I hit my foot on the door, I hit my foot on the door, and now it hurts, it hurts quite bad. And now I'm in a lot, in a lot of pain. I am in a lot of pain. That's painful, that's painful. Or maybe you have a headache, oh no, headache. Do you have a headache? Headache, headache. Or stomach ache, stomach ache. You ate something bad, stomach ache. Do you have a backache, backache? Oh, sitting too long, sitting too long in front of a computer. Oh, such a bad backache now. Or toothache, toothache. That can happen too, toothache. Yeah, you should see a dentist, see a dentist if you have a toothache, toothache. Yeah, not fun at all, that's not fun at all, must say. And sometimes it's even worse when some accidents happen, and, and and you cut your finger, you cut your finger, and now you are in pain, you are in pain, and you are bleeding, you are bleeding, you cut your finger. Yeah, that's a lot of pain. Oh, you broke your arm, you broke your arm. That must hurt, that must hurt. Oh no, oh no, I fell down, I fell down, and bruised my knee, I bruised my knee. It is swollen, it is swollen right now, I bruised it, and it is swollen. It's not broken, it is not broken, fortunately. And you can twist, twist your ankle, twist your ankle, while, hmm, let me think, playing basketball. Yeah, you can do that playing basketball, twist your ankle, definitely happened to me. It hurts, it hurts, it is painful. Yeah, all of that. What can you do? What can you do? You cannot avoid that, you cannot avoid it. Nope. And unfortunately, you cannot avoid a cold, and do you have a cold sometimes? Do you have a cold? Is it painful? Yes, it is a little. The body, the body hurts, the body hurts, the body aches, you feel tired, you feel tired and you have a lot of symptoms. Your body aches, and your muscles are sore, sore muscles. So you feel pain in your muscles, they are sore. But also you have a lot, a lot of other symptoms too. Is it a cold? Is it flu? Is it flu? Is it a cold? I don't know, I don't know, it's all bad. Do you have a fever? Do you have a fever? Oh yeah, I do, I do have a fever. And what else? I cough, I cough, and I have a runny nose. That's not painful, but annoying, this is annoying, not painful. A runny nose, runny nose. Oh, and a sore throat, sore throat, so you have difficulty speaking, difficulty speaking because of your sore throat. So you feel sick, you feel sick and lack energy, energy, you have no energy and you are exhausted, exhausted. Yeah, pretty bad symptoms. So hopefully, hopefully you are not in pain, you are not in pain. Nothing is painful and it doesn't hurt a lot, it doesn't hurt a lot. It may feel bad at the moment, it may, but it will get better, get better. Eventually, it will. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #79 LukeLikes「Stay」 | 25 mai 2025 | 00:07:11 | |
Luke Likes 'Stay' It is time to find a place to stay. Hey, I have a reservation here. I have a reservation. I have an e-booking reservation. I booked the room online. I booked the room online. But there is a small problem. I would like to change the dates, if possible, if possible, to the 13th of August. Thank you. Do you have any vacancies? Do you have any vacant rooms? I need a room for two nights. Do you have any available? No vacancies. That is a shame. I am afraid we have no singles or doubles for the weekend. I am afraid we did not receive your confirmation. That is a bad way to start. Could you fill out this form, please? Could you sign it at the bottom, please? Here is your key. You are in room 208. That is on the second floor. And breakfast is served from 7 to 10. Do you need any help with your luggage? And the lifts are over there. Certainly, sir. Certainly, madam. This way, please. The lift is just behind the reception. Shall I, shall I, shall I carry this small bag? Thank you. Here is something for you. Here is something for you. And enjoy your stay. Enjoy your stay. Yeah, I will definitely do that. So let's move on to some questions. So what are the facilities? What are the facilities in the hotel? Is there a sauna available? A sauna. A sauna. And what is the latest check-out time? And can I extend my stay? Can I extend my stay? And is the laundry service still open? Is it still open? And how much do you charge for...? How much do you charge for the laundry service? Hey, I would like to switch the room. I would like to switch my room. Can I do that? And can I get breakfast in my room? Could you send up some light snacks? Can I get some ice in my room? Could you bring some extra towels? Could I have a room with a sea view. Yeah, I would like a room with a sea view. Can I have a look? Can I have a look at the room? Is it possible to have breakfast before seven? And I am wondering, I am wondering if I could use the Wi-Fi. What is the password? What is the password? What is the code? Is it available? What time? What time do I have to check out? Yeah, I would like to order a taxi before seven am. Will you please charge it to my room? Charge it to my room. So far, so good. But here are some problems. Yeah, I would like to complain about the noise next door. My camera was stolen and the TV isn't working. Can you take care of that? Can you please take care of that? Also, the iron is broken and the remote control is missing. It's horrible. The sheets. The sheets are dirty and there isn't any shampoo left, I'm afraid. Could you take care of that too? What are you going to do about that? What are you going to do about that? I demand, I demand a reduction. I'm really unhappy with the service. And please, please, please do not, do not disturb. Did I enjoy my stay here? Did I? Yeah, I guess I did. It is holiday. It is holiday after all. So, enjoy your stay too. Enjoy your stay. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #78 LukeLikes「Looking Forward」 | 23 mai 2025 | 00:05:43 | |
Luke Likes 'Looking Forward' Oh, it is late. It is late. And what? Oh yeah, I'm still here, and I am still working. I'm working, and it's not bad. It isn't bad. And to be honest, I'm a little tired. I am getting tired. I'm getting tired. A little. So this is now, but next week, next week, this time next week will be quite different. Oh, it will be quite different. It will be a lot different. Because I will not be working. This time next week, I will not. I won't be working like now. This time next week, I will be resting. Yeah, I really can't wait. I can already see that. I can already see that. I will be resting on a beach. I will be lying in the sun. I will be lying and I will be, I will be, oh yeah, I will be enjoying the incredible, incredible view in front of me. Yeah, I can see that. And I will be listening, I will be listening to the sound of waves in the sea. Yeah. Yeah, that will be fun. I will be lying, and I will be sunbathing. I will be sunbathing and, oh, I will be getting a lot, a lot, a lot of vitamin D. Yeah, I definitely need that. So I will be getting some colour on my skin. At last, some sun tan, tan on my skin. Some colour from the sun. Oh, and I will definitely be trying some new food. Yeah, some exotic food. Yeah, and I will be having some cold drink. Yeah, I can see that already. And I will be just enjoying myself, and I will be looking what other people are doing. Some people will be swimming. Some other people will be playing beach volleyball, yeah, sounds like a great idea. Maybe I will be doing that with them. I will not be using my phone. Definitely not. That's a no-no. I won't be doing that. And I won't be working, but I maybe will be reading. I will be reading or listening to some music or to a podcast. Or maybe I will be talking to some people around me. Yeah, I will be just having a conversation. Just a casual, casual conversation about the weather. Maybe yes. Not politics, no. The weather, and sport. Cool. I will not be thinking about any of my problems. That's for sure. I will be thinking what cool things, what cool things I am going to do. And I will be planning my visits. I will be planning my tours around a city, around a town, a small village, whatever. I will definitely be enjoying that. This time next week. This time next week I will be doing all those things. Oh, yeah, I am really, really looking forward to it. I can't wait. I am looking forward to next week. But now, back to work, back to work. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #77 LukeLikes「Negative」 | 18 mai 2025 | 00:06:54 | |
Luke Likes 'Negative' Complain and complain and complain. Oh my, complain. Sounds bad, sounds bad when you complain, right? It does sound bad. And in English, when you complain, it means you are not happy or you are not satisfied, satisfied about something and you are annoyed, annoyed, so a little irritated, annoyed, irritated because something is wrong. And plenty, plenty of things can be wrong about your accommodation. So let's have a look, let's have a look at some negative reviews, so opinions left by the guests, the guests who stayed at a place, and they are not really happy, they are quite annoyed and would like to complain about it.Are you ready for this much fun? Yeah, let's go. So here's the first one about the noise, the noise, so the loud, unpleasant, unpleasant sound: 'So the evening noise was all the time, all the time and I had to keep the windows closed because of that which was very irritating and we couldn't get fresh air because of that'. Alright, quite reasonable, so logical, reasonable, we don't like the noise. Here comes another one, another complaint, complaint: 'Okay, little light, little light and the lift broken, the lift was broken, the soap was missing, missing - so there was none - and the light in the kitchen cannot be turned off completely so it has to be on all the time'. Fair enough, fair enough, good complaint, well done. And a lot of people complain about the check-in, so the way they get into the apartment. And here is one: 'So we couldn't get in and we had to stay 30 minutes outside and couldn't get the instructions because they were so complicated, so complicated and nobody, nobody even came, came to help us - that's bad, that's bad - so we had to text and take photos and finally we got in, finally. But overall - so all things together - overall very bad experience'. Yeah, I agree, seems fair to complain, let's do it then. Yeah, and a lot of people complain about how much space they have, how much space they actually have, actually. Here is a good one: 'So, the single room is really a closet. It's really a closet, not a bedroom. You cannot think it's a room because it's so small. Plus, it doesn't have a window, it must be a closet then, not a bedroom. So good location and a wonderful balcony but it's really the size of a closet, not a bedroom'. A good one, a good one, a good review. And what about the utilities, some utilities, facilities you can find around. Let's have a look: 'Oh the facilities, oh my God! So we tried one stove they had and one toaster and what happened? Every time we did that, every time we did that, the electricity would go off - so stop working - would go off'. Quite useless if you want to use the appliances, useless, so there is no use for that, useless. I don't know how you can live like that. And maybe one more, one more here: 'It says here, it says here in the advertisement - advertisment, the official information about the apartment - that there is air conditioning but in fact, in fact it was two fans, two fans, not air conditioning, and the single bed in the ad, in the inadvertisement is really a mattress, is really a mattress that is lying on the floor. That's it, no bed, just a mattress'. Oh my, you know what? I feel better already after reading all these negative, negative reviews. Good exercise really. So here is an idea for you. How about you complain to me in the comments? I would be very, very positive, positive to read it. My pleasure. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #76 LukeLikes「Comfortable」 | 16 mai 2025 | 00:06:59 | |
Luke Likes 'Comfortable' We would like to stay in a place, and we would like to sleep over there. We would like to cook, I guess, sometimes. We would like to have a good time, so have some fun over there. Obviously, we would like to have a place where we could wash ourselves, and we would like to be comfortable. That's all we need in a place where we stay on holiday. And this is it. That's all we need. Not much, and a lot, a lot at the same time. And for that, we would welcome, we would welcome facilities, facilities, so things that make our stay comfortable and easy. Comfortable and easy. Facilities or amenities, amenities, facilities. Both would be fine. Are you very, very comfortable? Are you very, very comfortable, like I am? So for a comfortable stay, I would love to have some facilities, like obvious ones, standard. So for example, does it have a single bed? Does it have a double bed? And what about fresh bedsheets? Or maybe a duvet? Duvet on a cold day. Also, the heating would be nice. the heating. If it's hot, then air conditioning would be a great thing to have.Car park is sometimes important when you travel by car, and, oh yeah, a lift, a lift. Don't forget about the lift if you travel with a lot of luggage. A lift. Now, cooking facilities, cooking facilities, if you would like to do that on holiday. Not everyone likes that ,but I think it is nice to have. So, is there a kitchen? Or kitchenette, kitchenette, so just a small kitchen area in your flat, apartment. And what appliances does it have, obviously? Like a fridge, a cooker, a stove top, a stove top, so the place where you can cook your meals. But also small devices, like a toaster, or an essential one, essential, an essential one, an important one, a kettle, a kettle. Maybe an electric kettle, a coffee maker, maybe a coffee maker and a microwave, a microwave for heating up your meals. And a lot, a lot, a lot of kitchenware, so things you can find in a usual kitchen, like pots and plates and forks and spoons and stuff like that. Yeah, very important, essential, I would say. And when it comes to the bathroom, yeah, you can't do without it, you can't, can you? No. So when you can't do without something, it means it is necessary, it is very, very needed, necessary, you can't do without it. You can't, you just can't. So shower and a bath, a toilet, but also maybe a washing machine, that would be nice. And to go with that, a clothes rack, so a place where you hang your clothes after washing, after washing. Maybe an iron, an iron, to iron your clothes, and an ironing board, ironing board. Small but essential. A hair dryer to dry your hair, and towels, obviously, but also some small things you can find around the bathroom area, so toiletries, toiletries, yeah, like soap and shampoo and some cosmetics. Yeah, that would make your life easier, definitely easier. And last but not least, which means it is maybe the last one on the list, but it is definitely not the least important thing, last but not least, you will definitely need and appreciate, appreciate, so you will be glad that you have it, you will appreciate, the free wifi and a very good location with a wonderful, wonderful view, view. So you can sit down, lay back, lay back and make yourself comfortable. And maybe listen to your favourite podcast. Hmm. Good times. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
| #75 LukeLikes「Right Here, Not Right Now」 | 11 mai 2025 | 00:07:17 | |
Luke Likes 'Right Here, Not Right Now' Do you maybe remember, do you remember what you were doing, you were doing, not are doing, you were doing on the 26th, 26th of November last year? So November 26th, 2024, at 9.30 p.m., 9.30 p.m. ? That's very exact, exact, so detailed, detailed, exact. So, do you remember what you were doing at that exact time? Because I, I do, I do. I can tell you exactly what I was doing, I was doing, I was doing at that time. 'Oh why Luke, why? You must have such a great memory. Just brilliant'. Nope, nope, that's not that, not that. So I do remember what I was doing, thanks to, thanks to the magic, the magic of podcasting, podcasting. But you remember what you were doing at that time? And what I was doing? Maybe you remember what I was doing and what was happening, what was happening around at that time. So it was evening, it was evening 9.30 p.m., Tuesday, Tuesday evening, and I was, I was recording, I was recording and I was sitting at the desk and I was talking to you, I was talking to you about what was happening around me. Do you remember that? Maybe. What was the weather like back then? Back then, so on that day. What was the weather like? Was it raining? Was it snowing. Was it cold? Was it warm? Maybe it was, maybe it was. Do you remember who was lying next to me, who was lying next to me when I was recording? Do you remember that? And do you remember what was happening outside? What was happening, what was happening, what was going on, going on, happening outside? Maybe you remember something about my neighbours. Were they sitting outside? Or maybe they were staying at home, they were staying at home and doing something else. What were they doing at that time? What were they doing at that time? Do you remember? I do, I do, I do exactly, exactly remember. I exactly remember what they were doing. That was evening, that was quite late and not much was happening, not much was happening. Do you remember that, that not much was happening? Maybe you do, maybe you do. And while I was recording and talking to you in English, I was drinking something, I was drinking something. Was it tea? Was it coffee? Was it water? Or maybe I was having something to eat. Do you remember? Oh was I smoking? ... No, I wasn't. Or maybe? Yeah, the 26th of November, Tuesday evening last year, 9.30 p.m. What were you doing when you were listening to this podcast for the first time? Were you going to sleep or maybe you were just waking up? You were waking up and still lying in bed. Maybe the next day you were lying in bed and you were listening to that episode for the first time. Was it raining back then or was it snowing? Was it hot? Was it cold outside? Maybe you were going for a walk or maybe you were running, you were out running and listening to that episode. What were you doing? So you remember? Were you ironing? Were you ironing and listening? Were you doing the cleaning, were you cleaning up your apartment, your house? Or your garden? Were you cleaning your garden and you were listening to that episode for the first time? Were you going to school or were you driving to work? Maybe you were coming back from work or from school and listening to that episode. What was exactly happening on that evening, on that evening? Oh, how to find out, how to find out? It's not right here, right now, is it? It is right here, it is NOT right now. It's back then, in episode 21, 21. You might go and find out for yourself. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

Luke Likes 'Coin Flip' So I'm almost there, I'm almost there in Lisbon, in Lisbon, but still have to book the place. Oh gosh. So help me out here, help me out please. I'm down to three apartments to choose from. I'm down to three apartments to choose from and I don't know which one to choose. Here it is, apartment number one. One bedroom, one double bed and one living room and one sofa bed over there. And that's an entire apartment for two people, that's 20 square metres. Okay, and it is situated, situated in Lisbon City Centre, that's good. All the attractions nearby, I'm not sure about that, if all of them, but alright. That's fully equipped kitchen and modern appliances. Alright, let me have a look. Okay, looks pretty standard, not very modern I have to say. Oh, the kitchen appliances could be a little better, looks a little old. And let's look outside. Oh, that's a wonderful view off the city, I love it. You can see red roofs from here, very nice old building, I think I love this one. But let's have a look at apartment two. One bedroom apartment, one bedroom, large double bed and living room, sofa bed. Entire apartment, that's 25 square metres, that's enough. Alright, and let me have a look at the pictures. Oh, the building looks very pretty. It looks definitely more modern than the previous one, more modern. All facilities, all facilities are very modern and look at this kitchen, yeah, modern appliances and the bathroom looks fantastic, very clean. Oh, I really like it there. What are other facilities? Oh, here they are. There's lift, a lift and air conditioning. There's a coffee machine and dishwasher, everything here. It's a little more expensive, okay. But what about the view? Oh, it's nothing special really, but I really love the design inside. Very modern place and very very clean. Yeah, I would have to think about this one. Okay, and apartment three. Okay, here it is. So one bedroom, one double bed and one living room, sofa bed. Entire apartment, oh, 71 square metres. That's huge, huge, big, very big, huge. Okay, let's look at the pictures. Oh, loft apartment, loft apartment, industrial style. I quite like it.So this is a two level flat, so you take the stairs to get to the bedroom. Very modern and very classy and at the same time very simple. And the facilities, the facilities over there include spacious kitchen, so a kitchen with a lot of space, that's cool. With all the appliances, very modern, a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi obviously. There is a work space area here, that's very convenient, but not for holiday. And there's a balcony, which overlooks, overlooks the big square, which is quite pretty. Yeah, and that's it. Those are the three options that I have and I'm still confused. I think I like the first and the last one most. So the loft apartment and the first one. A small and cosy apartment with a view of the city. Hmm, okay, now I'm having a hard time choosing. It is a coin flip really. It's a flip of a coin. It's a flip of a coin. So, let's flip a coin. Alright, I've got a coin and heads - I'm staying in the small cosy apartment. tails - I'm going to the loft apartment. Hmm, maybe I'll go one more time. And one more. Well, it's your turn now. Luke Likes 'At Home' Alright, come in, come in and make yourself at home. Make yourself at home. In English it means you can feel relaxed as if you were at your own place, at your own place. So make yourself at home and let me show you around. Let me show you around. So let me show you the place. Come in. So this is the hallway. This is the hallway, the first part of the flat. And as you can see on the left there is a fitted wardrobe. It is fitted, so it is built in, built in the space that is available here, fitted wardrobe. Alright, so let's go left first. Let's go left and this is the kitchen area. As you can see it is combined, it is combined so it is together with the living room space. So the kitchen area and it's quite small with plenty of kitchen cabinets, kitchen cabinets and kitchen drawers, drawers, for cups, plates, pans and pots and in general kitchenware, kitchenware, kitchen stuff. There is a sink over here on the left and here on the right the oven. And the cooktop with the hob where you can cook your meals. Also there are some kitchen appliances, so kitchen equipment, appliances, like obviously the fridge, the most important piece of furniture in your flat, the freezer where you can freeze products, there is a dishwasher here and also some smaller appliances and stuff like that. Oh and obviously there is a small table which is a kitchen island, kitchen island in the middle, with two bar stools, bar stools to special chairs for having your daily meals. It's not that big, but it's quite convenient because it has plenty of drawers so a lot of storage space. And now let's move on to the living room area over here. Here is a nice coffee table in the middle. Here on the left there is a nice small sofa, two seater, two seater, so far for two people, and one comfortable armchair, love this armchair, here in front, and on the right a small footstool, a footstool, so a place where you can put your feet up when you're sitting, a footstool, or ottoman, yeah. And as you can see it's a set, it's a set so they match, they match, which means they are similar and they go well together, they match. And opposite the sofa there is a nice big balcony door which overlooks the garden and the neighbourhood. Yeah, and now opposite the kitchen there is another room, a study, so a place for work, or study. It's a nice place separated by a glass door, there is a small desk here on the left which is also a cabinet, and here opposite the desk there is a small sofa. But the main part of the room is here opposite in the middle, which is this giant bookcase that takes up all the wall here opposite. So plenty of space for books and work stuff. Alright, and the last room, which is bedroom, is situated on the opposite end of the flat. It's all very light and simple. There is a big bed in the middle and two bedside tables on the sides, bedside tables, quite simple and cosy, cosy. Here again there is a balcony door and a second balcony. It's smaller than the first one which offers plenty of shade on summer days. Alright, that's pretty much it. Oh, there is also a bathroom, there is also a bathroom here across the hallway, with a big mirror and the wash basin in the centre part that lights up, lights up. So there is light around the mirror, which is cool. And here on the right shower and on the left the toilet obviously and also a washing machine and some cabinets for cosmetics and towels. So would you like some coffee or anything? Would you like some cake? Please sit down and make yourself at home. Well, it's your turn now. | #62 LukeLikes「Out of Town」 | 25 mars 2025 | 00:07:44
Luke Likes 'Out of Town' Spring is here, the spring is finally here. That's good news, and what do we do when the spring is here? What do we do? Well, there is one thing, one thing we could do, there is one great thing. Let's take a trip, let's take a trip outside, let's go out, let's go out, let's take a trip, let's go out, let's go out of town, let's go out of town, and take a trip to the forest, to the forest, that's a great place to be in, that's a great place to be in when the spring comes. But how do you get to the nearest forest, to the nearest...? I can have a look, I can look it up and check. Alright, here it is, here it is, okay. So, the fastest, the fastest and the most convenient obviously is the car. So if I drive, if I drive, if I drive the car, it will take me 11 minutes, 11 minutes to get there, 11 minutes. Yeah, it is 8 kilometers away, so not very far away, not far away, it's quite near here, near here, around here. I could also ride a bike, I could also get my bike out and ride it, so if I ride my bike, it will take me 26 minutes around. The traffic is not that bad over there, it's not a bad idea, so in 26 minutes from now, I can be over there. But unfortunately, unfortunately my bike is not ready, it's not ready. Stop asking me about my bike, yeah, it is not ready yet, it is not. Hmm, that's how about a longer trip, a longer trip, maybe to the mountains, let me check. Okay, here it is, here it is. It is 467 kilometers away, 467, and if I drive a car over there, it will take me 5 hours, 5 hours. That is definitely convenient, it is quite a long trip, I will need a break in between, and I don't think I can drive that long, that is a little tiring, 5 hours. Driving. The route, the route, the road, the route, the route is quite simple, and the traffic is not bad, so maybe not a bad idea, but let me check other options. Oh my, oh my! The other option is not a better one, I have to say it's not a better one. It will take me 8 hours 43 minutes, 8 hours 43 minutes to get to the mountains. I don't think I have enough of today to do that. So first I will have to, I will have to walk 5 minutes, it's 5 minutes away, it's a 5 minute walk to the bus station. Then take the bus, take the bus, and it will take, it will take 5 hours 47 minutes, 5 hours 47 minutes on the bus. Oh no! And I have to change, I have to change on the way, so change the bus on the way, and then, oh no, another change, another change, and take another bus, another bus, and after 2 hours and 10 minutes I get to the mountains, I get to the mountains. Well, that's a pretty long way, a long way, a pretty long way. Maybe I will go to the seaside, go to the seaside. Let me check. Here it is, it will take me 4 hours 39 minutes by car, by car, to get to the seaside. That is the fastest route, the fastest route. I can also try and catch a plane, but first it will take me around 1 hour to get to the airport, and then it will take, it will take, oh 55 minutes, so around 2 hours. Yeah, that is a good idea, so 2 hours, around 2 hours altogether, plus around 2 hours for check-in. So I'm not sure if it is a better idea to do that. It is quite convenient, I could also take the bus first, then change, and catch a train, and then it will take me around 6 hours, 6 hours. So, wait, wait, it's 11am, so I could be there around 5-6pm, not bad. I would still need to get ready. That's a lot of trouble. Wait, how about I just go out and spend time by the river? How about this? Spend time by the river. Oh, here is the river. It will take me around 1 minute to get there, yeah, and get ready. Maybe that's the best option. Go out, sit down, and relax by the river, just around the corner. Sort of out of town. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing
