In this episode, I explore the critical role of cellular hydration as the foundational first step in the seven naturopathic steps to treatment to optimise health. Join me as I talk about why proper hydration goes far beyond just drinking water, how chronic dehydration impacts inflammation, hormone balance, and fertility at the cellular level, and the three progressive stages to restoring optimal hydration in your body. I'll unpack the science behind cellular hydration, explain why your cholesterol might actually be a dehydration response, and provide insights and actionable tips to help you build the foundation your body needs to reduce inflammation, support hormone balance, and optimise your fertility journey. A number of actionable tips were discussed including how to recognise signs of chronic dehydration, which foods and drinks are secretly dehydrating you, the proper omega-3 to omega-6 ratio for reducing inflammation, how to implement the three-stage hydration protocol, and why you should consider taking a break from supplements while you establish proper hydration. I LOVED this interview, I always find speaking or listening to Molly is empowering and enlightening! | [REPLAY] Using food as medicine for endometriosis and fertility | 26 Mar 2025 | 00:49:09
In honour of Endometriosis Awareness Month (March) today's episode is a replay from Episode 6, where I talk about nutrition. This is a huge topic, but I wanted to introduce the general nutrition principles related to 1) improving your Endometriosis symptoms and 2) optimising your body so you are ready to get pregnant and then sustain a healthy pregnancy. There are a lot of similarities between these two objectives, but also there can be some conflicting ways of approaching nutrition, meaning that many women with Endometriosis can follow the 'Endo-diet' to reduce inflammation but end up under-nourished or further under-nourished, which will not help you in getting pregnant. So, here are some of the things I talk about are:

It is an area that research is still developing in relation to Endometriosis and its relationship to the vaginal microbiome. In this episode I talk about:

She hosts the Fertility Friday Podcast, a weekly radio show devoted to helping women connect to their fifth vital sign by uncovering the connection between menstrual cycle health, fertility, and overall health. In today's episode, I am sharing a fantastic interview with Lorna Driver-Davies all about the thyroid, Endo and fertility. It is a long one, but it's because there was a lot to cover, and because it is quite a complicated subject and we wanted to unpick it and simplify it for you and make sure you have some things to talk to your doctor about if you have concerns, and ensure you are taken seriously. I did contemplate splitting it into two episodes, but decided against it – you can just pause it and continue at another time! Lorna has worked for over a decade as a registered clinical nutritional therapist and naturopath. She is also Head of Nutrition at Wild Nutrition, a natural food-based supplement company, with a specific focus on women's health at all life stages including fertility. Lorna specialises in Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, menstrual cycle irregularities and Endometriosis co-morbities, such as gastrointestinal dysfunctions and thyroid disease. This deep clinical experience has enabled her to develop her expertise and highly specific nutrition protocols for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. Lorna lectures to both doctors and nurses about nutrition for Endometriosis including to specialist Endometriosis surgeons, she also speaks to the public, patients in hospitals and charity support groups. Lorna's published work includes an evidence-based peer reviewed case analysis chapter on nutrition for Endometriosis, thyroid and hormone health – the link to this book in available in the show notes. Lara Thieme is my guest today, she is a postdoctoral researcher from Germany. We met doing Nicole Jardim's Fix Your Period Apprenticeship a couple of years ago. Back then I didn't quite get the link with the estrobolome, a "specific sub-microbiome in the gut and Endometrosis. Lara was talking about how she planned to research the connection between this and Endometriosis in the future and was attending some really cool research seminars about the estrobolome and microbiome. Lara has Endometriosis herself, so her personal story has really driven her interest to merge her research specialism and Endo. In this episode we talk about:

This is not to scare you, but to present you with what is known and understood, so that you can then understand why certain actions to improve your health and fertility are recommended. Medical knowledge of Endometriosis is still underway and continually evolving with new science – this is why in allopathic medicine there is no known cure. In functional medicine, there is an understanding of the systems that are affected by Endometriosis and this gives a roadmap of what steps and tools are needed for your body to heal and optimise your fertility. | EF#20: Five Functional Tests for Endo Fertility with Lizzie Alexander | 25 Nov 2020 | 00:45:11
It's the last episode of the season!! This episode is all about how functional testing can be used to delve deeper into what is happening in the body. Integrative nutrition and lifestyle techniques can then be applied in a specific and focused manner that is unique to the individual, i.e. you! There is a lot you can tell from your symptoms, these will certainly give a picture of what is going on, but there are a variety of tests that a functional practitioner can use to understand where the imbalances are occurring in the body. In this episode I talk about five types of tests that are great for women with Endometriosis trying to get pregnant. These include blood tests, three types of microbiome tests, including the gastro-intestinal (GI) system, and urine and saliva tests for comprehensive hormone testing in the form of the DUTCH test. | EF#15: Adenomyosis vs Endometriosis – a Natural Healing Approach with Sara Lopez | 21 Oct 2020 | 00:42:04
This week's episode is all about Adenomyosis (Adeno), often called the sister to Endometriosis. I had a great interview with Sara Lopez, who has Adeno, and who is also an Adenomyosis Coach. According to one study, that Sara mentions in the interview, 91% of women with Endometriosis have Adenomyosis, they just may never know. In this episode we talk about the symptoms, differences from Endo, how to get it diagnosed, how you can manage it with a holistic approach, how it might fertility and more. Sara Lopez, M. Ed. is a Certified Hormone Specialist and Adenomyosis Coach. She works with women who struggle with adenomyosis or heavy periods to find healing and relief holistically. Sara has always cared about women's health, and when she was a teen her mother suddenly had a hysterectomy - her recovery was long and painful to watch. She decided she wanted to help others find alternative ways to heal besides hysterectomy. She wanted to be that woman that says "of course you can find relief holistically", so she became a women's health coach. Now that I've seen so many women have huge health shifts with a holistic approach, I can say that it IS possible if you are ready!

| EF#13: Histamine Intolerance, Pelvic Floor Therapy and Surgery with Ashley Looft | 07 Oct 2020 | 00:50:37 | |
Today's episode is with the lovely Ashley Looft from the US, who has gone to some incredible lengths to work out why she had horrendous painful periods, poor health and numerous miscarriages. She explains how she found out she has PCOS and Endometriosis and then what she did to become pain-free. I love to hear true healing success stories that inspire you that it is possible to live pain-free. There is a lot in the media at the moment about women taking a long time to get diagnoses, how they struggle with their day to day life, but little in the way healing stories. It is possible for women to use an integrative approach of medical and natural approaches to allow their bodies to heal and come to live pain-free. Ashley shares her experience with overcoming histamine intolerance and using physical therapy and surgeries to live a pain-free. Ashley Looft is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who helps women experiencing fertility and cycle struggles dig deep to find the root of their struggles and uses nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle to support their bodies in healing so that they can live their most healthy, happy, and fertile life. She came to this work through her own struggles with PCOS, Endometriosis, and 4 pregnancy losses. Ashley was tired of going to the doctor and being told that her only options were the pill or to get pregnant so she decided to take matters into her own hands and apprenticed with Nicole Jardim to become a Women's Health Coach and then continued on to go to school for Nutritional Therapy. When Ashley is not working to help others she loves to spend time with her husband and two dogs travelling, reading, cooking, running, and hiking in the beautiful Arizona desert.
