Ambridge is enjoying his stay at the quarantine zone. He's been helping Mia and Roger gather supplies and move people back, deeper into the woods. But this has left Jay on his own. Jay's been preparing for life on the road, but he still needs a car if he plans on making it all the way to California. After listening to another one of Preacher Smith's rants, Jay gets a crazy idea.
Mark is furious to find that Stephanie has left Ava behind, even though she claims Ava told her to. Mark wants to go back for her, but because it's dark and Madison has been bitten, Stephanie refuses. But that doesn't stop Mark, who takes matters into his own hands.

Mark regrets letting Ava go alone. They were meant to stick together, and after all they've been through, Mark can only think horrible thoughts. Regardless, he's forced to cope with the situation. Teddy helps by providing work in the house. In an effort to waste time, the two men move the computer system upstairs. But when night falls, Ava, Stephanie, and Madison have yet to return. This causes Mark to panic. He can no longer sit around and wait...
