What started as a normal morning on the ice quickly turned into a life-or-death situation. What began with calm weather and solid ice turned into chaos when the wind suddenly shifted and a massive sheet of ice broke loose, sending 23 fishermen drifting nearly a kilometer offshore on Lake Huron. With waves crashing into the ice, the wind building fast, and the clock ticking, Dave says they had less than 30 minutes before the ice completely broke apart. Phone calls were made.
