Max Girardo of Girado & Co

Season 1 · Episode 175

lundi 16 octobre 2023Duration 01:30:34

If we asked you to list ten people specialising in selling the most exciting road and racing cars, we'd suspect that Max Girardo would be on that list.

Girardo and Co. is a name that has become synonymous with buying, selling, and storing (for a lucky few) some of the most notable cars. For this week's podcast episode, John Marcar and Miles Lacey visit Max at his home and business in Oxfordshire, where they have a full tour of the facilities before sitting down for a chat.

Max's career has seen him selling for globally renowned auctioneers such as Bonhams and RM and working with other famous specialists such as Simon Kidston. Max shares the details of his unorthodox career and explains how and why he's fluent in 4 languages and the importance of all things Italian.

"Can I afford a Ferrari F40 yet?" with John Mayhead - Hagerty

Season 1 · Episode 83

lundi 27 décembre 2021Duration 01:25:48

John Mayhead is the editor of the UK Hagerty Price Guide and has the enviable task of tracking and reporting classic car values on behalf of the insurance and automotive lifestyle brand, Hagerty.

This incredible job brings with it some incredible stories, many of which you'll hear in this chat. Be warned; the episode brings some bittersweet emotions, such as John Marcar's realisation that he probably won't ever be able to afford a Ferrari F40. Amy also attempts some accidental insider trading (almost! - don't worry, legal folk - it doesn't work!)

Richard Porter aka SNIFF PETROL

Season 1 · Episode 82

lundi 20 décembre 2021Duration 01:40:01

This week on the Driven Chat Podcast, John Marcar and Amy Shore are joined by script editor and author Richard Porter.

Richard Porter is perhaps most famously known as the scriptwriter for Clarkson, Hammond and May for BBC Top Gear and Amazon's The Grand Tour. More controversially, he was a secret satirist for the automotive world through his mysterious yet frankly brilliant website - SNIFFPETROL.com - a website that ultimately granted his career in the TV world.

In this chat, Richard unearths the early days of his career with the most fantastic tangents and anecdotes... including a story about being filmed by John Bentley in a mobile phone shop in the late 1990s. Later we hear some incredible stories through the timeline of his work with Clarkson, Hammond and May.

Top Gear & The Grand Tour Executive Producer - Andy Wilman

Season 1 · Episode 81

lundi 13 décembre 2021Duration 01:17:05

Andy Wilman is the vital 4th name to be added on to the highly esteemed Clarkson, Hammond & May. As one of the creators and the executive producer of Top Gear from 2002 onwards, he has been celebrated as one of the great brains that created and managed one of the most loved TV shows for petrol heads. Of course, beyond Top Gear at the BBC, Wilman went on to executive produce Clarkson, Hammond and May's next production - The Grand Tour and Wilman frequently pops up on the show as nothing more than a name; 'Mr Wilman' in the form of written instructions and challenges via text messages to the presenters' phones.

In this exclusive chat with Andy Jaye, Andy Wilman shares some of the lesser-known stories, anecdotes and behind the scenes tales (of which there are many!) whilst producing our favourite car shows.
