Hello skeletons! This week on the podcast, we are joined by Judson Cowan, who you might know if you've been following Souls stuff for awhile. Besides making some great videogame soundtracks (like Rogue Legacy 2), he's also the creator of Laudate Solis, the most perfect map of Dark Souls 1 that has ever existed. Until his new one comes out, anyway. We talk about his history with the games, the magic of making maps, and more. Enjoy! | Episode 93: Cameron | 04 Oct 2017 | 01:02:38
The third and final cohost from the Monster Dear Monster podcast is Cameron, and this is his episode of Don't Give Up, Skeleton. Cameron and I had a blast talking about his history with the series, why Dark Souls 2 is great, and why invasions are so scary. Be sure to go check out MDM (I would highly recommend starting with the episode on Shin Godzilla) and Cameron's twitter. Thanks for listening everyone! Links:

| Episode 92: Dave | 04 Oct 2017 | 01:00:52 | |
This week we have three guests, all hosts of the Monster Dear Monster podcast. This episode's guest is Dave, who started way back with Demon's Souls but never really got hooked until Dark Souls 2. We talk about his history with the games, and why he was a little disappointed with the direction Bloodborne took. Be sure to check the links for Dave's twitter and podcasts. Thanks for listening everyone! Links:
| Episode 91: NinjaBadger7 | 04 Oct 2017 | 01:00:08 | |
Hello! We're starting this week with a bang! Three episodes, each one with a host from the Monster Dear Monster podcast. This episode's guest is NinjaBadger7, an extremely nice person who has lots of affection for the series, specifically Bloodborne. We talk about how the game's difficulty can prevent it from being accessible to "normal" gamers, and that special sense of satisfaction of killing a boss that you've been banging your head against for hours. Be sure to check out the Monster Dear Monster podcast for all of your monster needs. Links:
| Episode 90: Theomeny | 27 Sep 2017 | 01:40:34 | |
Welcome back, listeners. This week's guest is Theomony, a Souls lore enthusiast with some fascinating insights into the Souls/Bloodborne games. We've been friends on Twitter for awhile now, so it was great to sit down with her and talk about her experiences with the games. Be sure to check out her Souls streams and YouTube for some great hashtag content. Thanks for listening everyone! Heads up everyone: since recording this podcast, Theomony released an essay entitled Lethe and Aletheia: The Essence of the Soul in Dark Souls, which you can find in the links below. I asked her to come back onto the show and discuss it, so after the credits in the main episode, stay tuned for an extra 30 minutes of lore talk centered around the essay. Links:

| Episode 89: Adam F | 20 Sep 2017 | 00:54:30 | |
This week's guest is Adam, a guy who loves making lists about his favorite and least favorite things in Dark Souls. Adam and I sat down and talked about him discovering the games, his desire for a Star Wars themed Souls game, and the fact that he loves the Chalices (yes!). Enjoy the episode, everyone! Links:
| Episode 88: Sightless Pyromaniac | 13 Sep 2017 | 01:02:24 | |
This week's guest is a friend of mine from tumblr and a big contributor to my old blog, Dark Souls Haters. Sightless and I sit down and talk about DS1, 2, and 3, because he's mostly a PC guy and skipped Demon's and Bloodborne. We talk about why everyone hates magic users in PVP, why cookie cutter builds are bad, and I get salty over Souls PVP in general. Enjoy! Links:
| Episode 87: Terese | 06 Sep 2017 | 00:59:12 | |
Well, prepare to fall in love with Terese. Teresa's son bought her Demon's Souls, but she was a bit too intimidated to start it. So she waited until a co-worker convinced her to play Dark Souls, and she's been in love ever since. She talks about her journey through the games, how she spends time doing co-op runs with her husband, and the reasons she didn't click with Bloodborne. I promise you, this is one you don't want to miss. And look! Terese made a comic about being on the show! Links:
| Episode 86: Trond | 30 Aug 2017 | 01:03:32 | |
Trond is a Dark Souls fan all the way from Norway, and has a very interesting in depth look into the games. We sat down a few months ago and talked about his introduction to the series, and how he used the game's reputation for difficulty to power through the early parts of the game. Links:
| Episode 85: Sara | 23 Aug 2017 | 01:15:02 | |
Sara (who goes by BellringerKat on tumblr) is a professional illustrator and part time Bloodborne lore guru. Because of the distance between us (she's in Italy), the audio quality is a bit rough this week. I promise you're going to want to listen, though, because Sara has some very interesting insight into the world of Bloodborne. She also has a different opinion to on the subject of people shipping Gherman and Lady Maria, which I think is pretty fascinating. Enjoy! Links:

| Episode 84: Wiegraf | 16 Aug 2017 | 00:59:00 | |
This week's guest is one of my friends from the Duckfeed Slack: Wiegraf! Wiegraf is an interesting dude with an interesting approach to the Souls games, as you'll hear on the episode. We also discuss Armored Core and Nier Automata (don't worry, no spoilers), plus his progress on developing his own RPG based on Bloodborne. All of those links are in the show notes below, so be sure to check them out. Thanks for listening! Links:

| Episode 181: Jay Gill | 12 Jun 2019 | 00:54:04 | |
Hello skeletons! This week's guest is Jay Gills, a game designer that works on World of Warfcraft and more importantly: a big Dark Souls fan. We spend a lot of time discussing the magic that is DS1, and then branch out to some of the other games. There is some discussion of Sekiro, including some late boss names, but there aren't any plot spoilers. Enjoy the episode everyone! Don't Give Up, Skeleton is on Patreon, which is a great way to support the show if you can. Donations go to keeping the podcast bills paid, as well as my ever growing collection of Souls games. | Episode 83: Nick | 09 Aug 2017 | 00:59:01
Hello! This is part two of the double release week with the gents from Dingus Boys Gaming. This is Nick, who tells me all about his experiences with the Souls series, including the craziest challenge runs and trying to get his girlfriend to play Souls games. Be sure to check the links for the charity stream Nick and Andrew did and that I guested on, and stay tuned to their Twitter for the next stream even. Thanks for listening everyone! Live Stream: Links:
| Episode 82: Andrew | 09 Aug 2017 | 00:52:57 | |
This week we have two episodes for you to get down on. First up is Andrew, who is one have of the Dingus Boys. I met Andrew and Nick when Fiona (whom you might remember from episode 20) asked me if I wanted to participate in their charity stream. They were streaming Dark Souls 3 for 24 hours straight, so I jumped in for an hour or two and chatted with them about their Souls experiences. You can find that video below! A few months later Andrew and I sat down to talk about his entire history with the games. Enjoy. Live Stream: Links:
| Episode 81: Cara | 02 Aug 2017 | 00:58:54 | |
It's another episode! This week's guest is Cara, who is maybe the nicest Souls player I've talked to so far, which I make a point it tell her throughout the episode. Anyone willing to volunteer their time to help people through 5-2 in Demon's Souls is basically a saint as far as I'm concerned. Cara started from the beginning and worked her through the series chronologically, and likes to play through these games multiple times and has hundreds of hours across all the games. We talk about all five, and I'm 100% sure you will agree with me when I saw Cara is super nice. As I usually do, I sent Cara an early copy of the episode to make sure she was ok with the edit. She sent me back a list of time stamped notes that I found super interesting, so I asked if I could include those. So here's a live tweet version of her reaction to the episode (note: some times might be slightly off due to additional editing). 2:29 – I haven’t played games in a solid month, but my fav character Chop Chop is well on her way to 400 hrs @_@ Links:
| Episode 80: Ben H. | 26 Jul 2017 | 00:56:19 | |
Hello! This week's guest is Ben, a big Souls fan with some interesting stories about the games. He talks about bouncing off of Demon's Souls, his first "cheated" playthrough of Dark Souls 1, and how Dark Souls brought him and his son together. I also include some of his son's music, specifically a Soul of Cinder remix that you might have heard about on an appendix episode of Bonfireside Chat. It's a great chat, and I know y'all will enjoy it. Links:
| Episode 79: Aegon of Astora | 19 Jul 2017 | 01:19:08 | |
Hello skeletons! This week's guest is Aegon of Astora, a name you probably recognize if you've spent any time on YouTube watching lore videos. I caught up with Aegon on the day The Ringed City DLC came out for Dark Souls 3, and both of us took a break from playing that to record this podcast. It's pretty fun listening to us try not to spoil one another while trying to figure out where the other one is. Aegon and I talk about his history with the Souls series, how he approaches these games as a player and also someone that makes lore videos, and a bunch of stuff in between. Stay tuned after the credits of the show for a brief conversation about the DLC itself. Since recording this episode, Aegon has started a twitter where he chats Souls with people. It's not mentioned at the end, but you can find links below. Thanks for listening! Links:

| Episode 78: Grace | 12 Jul 2017 | 01:00:15 | |
You probably remember episode 69 (nice), right? Where 4 extremely gay ladies came on to talk about their love for Lady Maria? Well, today's guest is one of those ladies: Grace! Her and I sit down to talk about our mutual love for the Souls games, and man, it's just so much fun to talk to someone who is genuinely enthusiastic about these games! You can just tell she loves them a whole bunch. Enjoy the episode, and remember to check out Don't Give Up, Skeleton for all the links to the show you could possibly want. Links:
| Episode 77: Alex K. | 05 Jul 2017 | 00:55:45 | |
Today's guest is Alex K! Alex and I sit down and talk about his initial difficulty with the Souls games, and how quickly he went from "this is too hard" to "I must play all of these games immediately." In fact, he tells me finished all five within six months, something I've heard a few times on this podcast but still don't believe is actually possible. Thanks for the listening everyone! Links:

| Episode 76: John G. | 28 Jun 2017 | 00:58:24 | |
This week's guest is John G. John got in touch with me awhile back and said he freakin' loved the Souls games, and he was NOT kidding. You can hear the intensity come out in the conversation. John is a cool guy and I think y'all will like this episode. Links:
| Episode 75: Silver | 21 Jun 2017 | 01:02:24 | |
This week's guest is Silver, a friend of a friend I met that loves the Souls games, and plays them in a very intense way. Silver and I walk through their history of the games, and get into Silver's opinion on why Dark Souls 2 failed to live up to Dark Souls 1. It's a fun conversation, as it generally is every episode, and I think you'll dig it. Make sure to check the links and help save the red pandas, which Silver has been doing for a long, long time. | Episode 74: Zach, from Lordran and Beyond | 14 Jun 2017 | 00:57:49
If your'e a Souls fan that's spent any sort of time on Tumblr, you've probably heard of Lordran and Beyond. A Dark Souls fanart blog and webcomic, it's pretty much THE blog for all your Dark Souls needs. I sat down with Zach to chat about his history with the series, how and why he started the blog, and why he thinks Resident Evil Souls is the future of the series. No, I'm not kidding. It's a great conversation, so enjoy! Links:

| Episode 180: Mark S. | 05 Jun 2019 | 00:52:47 | |
Hello everyone! This week's guest is Mark, a game reviewer, musician, dad, and all around video game guy. Mark and I sat down for a long chat about the entire series, including Sekiro! This will be on the few episodes with Sekiro chat, so stay tuned (and also watch out if you're spoiler-phobic). Enjoy, and be sure to check out Mark's link below to read some of his reviews. | Episode 73: Jake Lionheart | 07 Jun 2017 | 01:28:18
Don't worry folks, that song you're hearing doesn't mean you accidentally downloaded the wrong podcast. It's just this week's guest, Jake Lionheart! Jake is an indie rapper that likes to rap about something he loves: video games! Here's a twist though: his songs are actually good! Honestly, most people rapping about video games are pretty terrible, but Jake's songs walk the fine line between taking something seriously and also having fun with it. We talk about his experience with the Souls games, and the songs he's written based on them. Jake's new Bloodborne album comes out TODAY, so go check it out the full version. It's FREE. Warning folks: Jake and I are both hip hop heads, so we spend some time talking about music we like. WE CAN'T HELP IT. Also, I put a bunch of Jake's music in this episode because I really like it. Enjoy! https://www.dontgiveupskeleton.com Links:

| Episode 72: Open Mike Eagle | 31 May 2017 | 00:58:17 | |
I'm very excited to say that this week's guest is Open Mike Eagle. I've been a fan of his for a few years now, and was (as you'll hear in the episode) completely surprised when he followed me on twitter. I was floored when he said he was a Dark Souls fan, so of course I had to get him on the podcast. We talk about his journey through the Souls series, touching on all the games one way or another. It's a very fun episode! If you aren't familiar with him, go check out his music, it's GREAT. Links:

| Episode 71: Alex G. | 24 May 2017 | 00:54:54 | |
You know what you shouldn't be when you play Dark Souls for the first time? Drunk. Unfortunately, that was Alex's experience. He arrived at a friend's house to find them playing Dark Souls 2 and doing Drunk Souls: take a shot or drink every time you die. Needless to say, it didn't go well. Fortunately, it didn't ruin the series forever for him. We talk about the rest of his journey in this episode of Don't Give Up, Skeleton. Enjoy! Links:
| Episode 70: Heath | 17 May 2017 | 00:59:29 | |
This week’s episode is all about one thing: authenticity. Heath has found lots of things in search for authenticity, so we go through a variety of topics this week. If you had told me I’d be talking about mixed martial arts and how it can be compared to Dark Souls, I would have called you crazy. But here we are.See the links below to find Heath on the internet. | Episode 69: Nice | 10 May 2017 | 01:17:52
Time for something completely different, listeners. Our old friend Niki from episode 36 sent me the following DM a few months back: "hey, do you have any plans for episode 69?" Some of y'all probably know that I record these pretty far in advance, so while I had something for episode 69, I immediately told Niki I didn't and asked her what she was thinking. Her idea was to have her three gay friends come on the show, and have a sort of hour long chat about how great Lady Maria is. That seemed like it could be a super interesting and hilarious podcast, so I agreed, and I was right: it IS a super interesting and hilarious podcast. As someone who doesn't get into shipping or even developing crushes on fictional characters, I was interested in getting an opportunity to ask about this stuff. So, the episode you're hearing is exactly that. Four ladies (Niki, Molly, Steph, and Grace) gushing over Lady Maria and various other Dark Souls women, and trying to explain what they see in these characters to me. A bit of a warning: the audio in this is FINE, but as you might imagine, having four people on the same track isn't ideal. Steph's audio is fairly low, but I tried to boost it when she was talking by herself. There's also some over talk I would have cut out of a normal episode, but unfortunately here I couldn't do that. I think it's perfectly listenable, just a bit...chaotic, which I think suits the tone of the conversation. www.dontgiveupskeleton.com <--- For all your skeleton needs Links:

| Episode 68: Richard Pilbeam | 03 May 2017 | 01:06:57 | |
Hello Skeletons! If you're here, you've probably heard of Richard Pilbeam, aka Jerk Sans Frontiers, who does the series of lore videos called Bloodborne Up Close. If you haven't, check the links below and make sure you go do that. Richard has a special kind of insight into the Souls series, and it was a delight getting to sit down and talk to him about it. We sort of go all over place, as you might expect, but it's a fun conversation nonetheless. Enjoy! | Episode 67: Ario | 26 Apr 2017 | 00:54:09
This week we sit down with Ario, who created the Tumblr Brick by Brick. Stop right now, click on the link below, and go check out his series CRT Souls. I’ll wait. Stay tuned for some of Ario's music at the end of the episode. http://doshmanziari.tumblr.com/ Ok, back? Isn’t that cool?! Ario talks about his love of architecture, his unique view of the Souls games, and his disappointment with the music of the series. This isn’t your typical episode, but I think you will enjoy it that much more. Links: https://twitter.com/Doshmanziari
| Episode 66: Jorge | 19 Apr 2017 | 00:54:43 | |
This week’s guest is Jorge, a games writer who has somehow managed to play all of the Souls games in under a year. He talks about how he came to the series, his discovery of PVP and fight clubs, and what it’s like role playing a pacifist character in an extremely hostile PVP environment. Enjoy! Links! | Episode 65: Nick C. | 12 Apr 2017 | 00:58:40
This week’s guest started the conversation in an interesting fashion: by telling me he looked up Estus in one of the Dark Souls wikis and got extremely confused. It’s a good conversation, and we get to chat about all of the games, which is fun. Find Nick on twitter at the link below! | Episode 64: Syrg | 05 Apr 2017 | 00:56:33
What’s it like when someone doesn’t particularly care about the Souls series, but is surrounded by people that do? That’s the question we answer on this week’s DGUS. I know syrg from the Duckfeed Slack, and when I put a call out for people that don’t hate the Souls series, but have tried it and failed to bond with it, he answered. We talk about Demon’s, DS1, and Scholar, as well as a surprisingly in-depth look into Lords of the Fallen. Enjoy! | Episode 179: Alexander McConnell | 29 May 2019 | 00:52:38
Hello skeletons! This week's guest is Alexander, a friend of mind from the Duckfeed Slack. We sit down and discuss his journey through the Souls series, going on some unique side paths like "what's the deal with parrying" and "how to be the only person in your town that knows what Demon's Souls is." It's a good one, so enjoy! Don't Give Up, Skeleton is on Patreon, which is a great way to support the show if you can. | Episode 63: bansheebeat | 29 Mar 2017 | 01:12:32
Dylan, aka bansheebeat is an extremely talented musician with a love of the Souls series, so he’s a perfect fit for the show. We sit down and talk about what he does and does like about the games, his disappointment with the music, and his dream Souls game. Spoiler: he has a VERY unique idea about future Souls games. Links! | Episode 62: Monk | 22 Mar 2017 | 01:04:59
Monk is an old buddy of mine I met during the heyday of Dark Souls 1 PVP. He and I used to get together with the other Something Awful thread regulars to do fight clubs and dumb gimmick builds. He’s played the Souls games a LOT, like hundreds and hundreds of hours. Enjoy his invasions stories, his hatred for Dark Souls 2, and everything else in between. | Episode 61: Chris M. | 15 Mar 2017 | 01:17:14
This week’s guest is Chris, host of the Now and Again podcast. Chris discovered Dark Souls at a low point in his life, but has since come to enjoy them even in the good times. We talk about his journey through the series, his sort of ambivalence to Dark Souls 2, and his love for Bloodborne (because everyone loves Bloodborne and if you don’t your opinion is wrong). Just a quick note: you should totally check out Now and Again! It’s a great concept for a show (talking about a volume of Now That’s What I Call Music with a guest), and is very much fun to listen to. I guested on a year end episode to talk about my favorite thing I discovered in 2016, which you can find below: http://www.cageclub.me/now-and-again-2016-side-b/ Chris’s Links: For all the Don’t Give Up, Skeleton related links you can shake a femur bone at, visit www.dontgiveupskeleton.com
| Episode 60: Nick A. | 08 Mar 2017 | 00:53:32 | |
This week’s guest is Nick! Nick and I chat about his journey though the Souls games, and we had a lot of fun. Nick started with Demon’s, and has played each game all the way through DS3. I knew I would like Nick when he told me he would do Monk invasions in DeS with the scraping spear. | Episode 59: Anthony | 01 Mar 2017 | 01:27:22
This week’s guest is Anthony, an experimental musician with a great love of the Souls games. So much so that it even was a small part of his wedding (details inside). Anthony and I sit down and talk about how he found the series, how it’s changed him, and most importantly: how does is wife feel about the giant poison skeleton in Dark Souls 3. Be sure to listen after the credits for some of his music! | Episode 58: Justin | 22 Feb 2017 | 00:56:43
This week’s guest is Justin, who is a video game writer and podcaster. Justin and I sat down and talked about his unique first playthrough of Dark Souls 1, why he thinks Dark Souls 2 is better than DS1, and his opinions on Dark Souls 3. | Episode 57: Robert | 15 Feb 2017 | 01:00:55
Hello! This week’s guest is Robert, who is a very enthusiastic Souls fan. After almost getting abandoned during our recording time by yours truly (full details in the ep), we get into why he loves them. It’s a very fun episode (with some audio difficulties that drag it down at the beginning, sorry about that). Robert’s links: http://www.dontgiveupskeleton.com/ Additional Links! Included because Robert pulled them all together on his own and I didn't have to do any work! He's an excellent guy!
| Episode 56: Lewis | 08 Feb 2017 | 01:17:17 | |
This week’s guest is Lewis, who sent me what could almost be called on essay about, as he called it, “Dark Souls as the human condition.” How could I not bring him on after that? Lewis talks quite a bit about his history with the games, and how it affected his depression and even his personal religion. It’s a very good show, with some minor but persistent sound artifacting that is slightly distracting. Nothing terrible, though. Stay tuned through the end of the episode for a listen to Lewis’ band, Wild Apples. | Episode 55: Nicholas | 01 Feb 2017 | 00:55:51
This week’s guest is Nicholas, aka StrenuousOrb on Twitter. Nicolas and I have long been twitter buds, so it was nice to sit down and talk about some Souls games. Check out his YT links for his challenge runs, which are great and I could also defeat the end boss of the DS3 DLC at SL1, just like him. Totally. I mean it. A couple of notes: (1) I’m a terrible person who let this one sit around for awhile instead of releasing it on time. As such, you get to hear my and Nicholas talk about the aforementioned DLC before it even came out! It was that long ago. Luckily Nicholas is a very nice guy and didn’t seem to mind at all. (2) Back when we recorded I was using Zencastr, which seemed to randomly and spontaneously breakdown in creative ways. That happened in this recording, but after the first 10 minutes or so I think everything clears up. Sorry about that! | Episode 54: Tim | 25 Jan 2017 | 00:51:01
This week’s guest is from (take a drink) the Duckfeed community. I was able to meet Tim in person when Watch Out For Fireballs did live a show in Austin, TX. We’ve been in touch since, and I’m glad we were able to sit down and talk about his Souls experience. Tim talks about turning to Souls when his father passes away, and how he might just be a little bit tired of the games after the last five years. | Episode 178: Joel | 22 May 2019 | 01:07:57
Hello skellies! This week's gues is Joel Corelitz, a video game composer and huge Souls fan. We sat down early on a Sunday morning to talk about his journey through these games, starting with a rough start and ending with, well, him appearing on this podcast because he's into the games that much! Be sure to stay after the credits for a song he wrote from the game Gorogoa (which is gorgeous and you should all play it immediately), and check out the links for more of his work. Don't Give Up, Skeleton is on Patreon, which is a great way to support the show if you can. Donations go to keeping the podcast bills paid, as well as my ever growing collection of Souls games. You can also support the show by leaving an iTunes review, or by sharing the podcast with your friends. Merch! Wear a skelly on your belly! Links:
| Episode 53: Trey | 25 Jan 2017 | 01:00:50 | |
This week’s guest is Trey, a friend of mind from the Duckfeed.tv community (take a drink!). Trey and I got to meet in person during a live Watch Out For Fireballs in Austin, TX. Him and I sat down a bit after that and recorded this episode, in which we talk about his backwards journey through the Souls series. We go all over the place in this one, folks. Be sure to stay tuned after the credits to hear some of Trey’s band, Handsome Ransom. | Episode 52: James Carter | 18 Jan 2017 | 01:23:54
This week’s guest is James Carter from the Cane & Rinse podcast. James is one of those people (like myself) that can’t stop talking about the Souls games once he gets started. James and I go through all of the games, but sort of bounce all around instead of going straight through them. It’s a fun cast, and I think you’ll enjoy it. | Episode 51: Josh Garrity | 18 Jan 2017 | 01:09:56
I’m very happy to Josh Garrity on the podcast this week! Josh is a host on the incredible Cane & Rinse podcast. Josh and I spend a good 20-25 minutes talking about games in general before getting into the Souls games, but I think y’all will enjoy it anyway. Quick note: there are some audio issues on this one. I tried to edit around them as best I could, but when you’re recording from 3000 miles away things can happen. Also, right after this Josh found out his mic was dying! So we were in DOUBLE TROUBLE! Oh no! Josh’s Links: As always, if you’d like to be on the show, send an email to dguspodcast@gmail.com, or use my variety of social media networks listed below to send me a message.
