The Weekly Dwell: The Ministry of Presence26 janv. 202600:07:04

A recent conversation with my dad and memories from some of the hardest moments of my life reminded me that loving people doesn’t always require the right words or a perfect response. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply showing up.

This episode is a gentle invitation to notice where God might be calling us to be present for someone this week, trusting that our presence alone can be a powerful act of love.

The Surprising Things I'm Learning To Live Without (Crunchy Mom Edition)22 janv. 202600:21:17

This episode is a little crunchy… but stay with me! I’m sharing the health and wellness shifts I’m making in 2026, not from a place of perfection, but from a place of awareness, grace, and learning as I go.

From saying no to our microwave and heavy fragrances, to rethinking everyday things like butter, salt, pillowcases, and even how I walk, this is about choosing what feels right for this season.

Not all at once, and not perfectly.

And definitely not without Chick-fil-A still making an appearance!!

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by “doing health right,” I hope this episode helps you find your own middle ground.

The Weekly Dwell: Reframing My "Wild" Kids19 janv. 202600:11:17

I'm sharing from a place of vulnerability this week. My current reality is that I have 4 children who are all under 9 years old. They have ZERO chill. I quickly slip into victim state... "Why me, God?" I don't like the way it feels and it only perpetuates the situation.

So this week, I'm trying to reframe what my situation is.

I'm trying to carry the responsibility like it's all on my own...

And friend, it SO isn't.

The invitation is: offer prayer endlessly to surrender our day and ask for HIS control, HIS love and patience.

Friendship as an adult is complicated, and for a long time, I don’t think I realized just how much it mattered to me!

In this episode, I’m sharing five shifts I’ve made in the way I approach friendship that have completely changed the depth, richness, and connection I experience now.

These aren’t big, flashy ideas. They’re small, intentional choices that have added so much meaning to this season of my life.

If you’ve ever longed for deeper friendships, felt unsure how to build them, or wondered why connection feels harder than it used to, this episode is for you.

The Weekly Dwell: The Victim Trap (Part 2)12 janv. 202600:13:38

This is part two of our conversation about the victim trap, and today I’m focusing on the reframe.

In this episode, I talk about what it actually takes to move out of a victim story once you recognize it. Reframing isn’t easy. It requires humility, courage, and a willingness to question the stories your own mind keeps telling you.

We’ll talk about how to spot victim thinking in your language, why some relationships keep us stuck, and the questions I ask myself when fear and control start to take over. Most of all, this episode is about remembering that you have a choice, and that choosing a new story can change how you show up in your life.

What's More Important in 2026: Passion or Profitability?08 janv. 202600:37:02

In 2026, is passion more important than profitability in your business?

Because here’s what I’ve learned after 17 years of business:

Passion is life-giving. It fills you up and reminds you that your work matters.

Profitability is life-giving too, just in a different way.

It feeds your family, pays the bills, and gives you stability.

The problem is when either one drifts into an unhealthy place.

When passion turns into perfectionism and control. Or when profit turns into fear, pressure, and that heavy “I have no choice” mindset.

In this episode I’m sharing what it looked like when I started from pure overflow passion, what shifted over time, and how I found my way back without burning everything down.

I also walk through a few common scenarios business owners find themselves in and the five practical ways I’ve learned to re-balance purpose and profit.

The Weekly Dwell: The Victim Trap (Part 1)05 janv. 202600:15:25

This week’s Weekly Dwell is a heavier (but important) conversation.

I’m talking about something that has stolen joy from my life in the past and still tries to creep in if I’m not careful: the victim trap.

This mindset shows up everywhere—in business, marriage, parenting, leadership, and friendships...and often hides behind our best qualities like perseverance, responsibility, and drive. In this episode, I share personal stories of how those gifts can quietly turn into self-sabotage when fear and control take over.

Part two is coming next week. Thanks for listening, and I’m really glad you’re here.

The Weekly Dwell: Knowing The Nature of Something29 déc. 202500:09:48

The nature of something changes the outcome...and how that’s true in our walk with God. In this episode I'm sharing a simple, real-life story that led me to think about why faith can feel different in certain seasons, even when we’re doing the same outward things.

This is an invitation to slow down, seek Him more intentionally, and grow in understanding who He really is.

Scripture I’m dwelling on:

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

— Colossians 3:1–2 (ESV)

Doing Disappointment Differently - A Look at 202526 déc. 202500:36:28

What if you get to the end of your year and you feel...disappointed?

In this episode, I’m joined by my friend and teammate Becca for an honest conversation about what to do when your year doesn’t go the way you hoped.

We talk about the crossroads we all face when something flops or life throws a curveball.

Do you panic, pivot, pause, or persevere?

I share what 2025 has taught me about releasing control, letting go of unrealistic expectations, and choosing a healthier perspective on disappointment as we head into 2026.

The Weekly Dwell: When Hope Becomes Real22 déc. 202500:11:22

This is the final episode in our Advent Weekly Dwell series. I share how hope doesn’t usually become real for me by accident...it requires a decision.

The Christmas story reminds me that even when Jesus was born, very few people actually knew or recognized what had happened.

Hope entered the world quietly, and it had to be sought out.

It’s never too late to turn your heart toward Him. Even three days before Christmas, we can choose to seek, to soften, and to let the story of Jesus change us... and in turn, change how we show up for our families and our lives!

What Still Feels Magnetic? How To Do Your Own Year-End Reflection18 déc. 202500:33:29

As the year comes to a close, I’m sharing a different way to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re headed.

Instead of asking what worked and what didn’t, I’m asking a deeper question: What still feels magnetic?

I walk through what has been truly life-giving for me this year, what has been heavy, and how I’m learning to pay attention to God’s leading instead of forcing excitement that isn’t there anymore.

If you’re feeling tired, conflicted, or unsure about what’s next, this episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and tell yourself the truth.

The Weekly Dwell: Trusting God’s Gift in an Unlikely Season15 déc. 202500:09:45

Welcome to week three of our Advent Weekly Dwell series. Today I’m talking about something I keep bumping into in my own life — how often I can’t see that what God is doing is actually what I’ve always needed, because it doesn’t look the way I expected.

I reflect on how people dismissed Jesus because He came in an unlikely way, and how I do the same thing when my story feels messy or off script. I share a friend’s surprise pregnancy that felt overwhelming until she found out she was carrying the girl she had prayed for...a reminder that God can be giving us the desire of our hearts in a form we don’t recognize at first!!

I also open up about my own health journey and the faith it takes to believe I’ll someday look back and see His hand in it. This episode is an invitation to trust that even when life doesn’t look “right,” God may still be writing something good.

How My AlphaGal Was Healed with Acupuncture11 déc. 202500:28:30

Last year I ate a steak and woke up in the middle of the night thinking, “This is it… I might actually die.”

My eyes were swollen shut, my body was one big hive, my blood pressure tanked and I collapsed on the bathroom floor. That night led to a diagnosis I had never even heard of before: alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne allergy to mammal products that so many people are being told is a life sentence.

The Weekly Dwell: He Didn't Have To - Why Jesus Came The Way He Did08 déc. 202500:12:55

Welcome to week two of our Advent Weekly Dwell series. Today I’m sitting in a truth that keeps hitting me harder the more I think about it: Jesus didn’t have to come the way He did...but He chose to!!

I talk through why the humility of the Christmas story isn’t random or weak, but deeply intentional. God wasn’t after a power show. He was after connection. He came close, entered our world as a baby, and lived in our shoes so we could know His love and trust His heart.

This week I’m inviting my kids (and myself) to wrestle with the “why” behind the nativity, because the way He came reveals what the gospel has been about all along.

10 Things I Tried In My Business That Totally Flopped04 déc. 202500:42:02

What if the thing that feels like a failure right now is actually part of what’s building your future?

Today I’m sharing 10 things I tried in my business that totally flopped. Some were embarrassing. Some were expensive. Some were dreams I was sure would work. And honestly, in the moment, a few of them made me wonder if I was cut out for entrepreneurship at all.

But looking back, I can see something I couldn’t see then: so many of my wins were born out of what didn’t work first.

In this episode, I’ll walk you through each flop, what it taught me, and how it quietly shaped what came next. And at the end I’m giving you a simple exercise I really want you to try — an “impact web” of your failures — to help you trace the dots between what hurt and what it’s producing.

If you’ve been sitting in disappointment, second-guessing yourself, or wondering if you’re falling behind… this is your reminder:

You can fail and still be on your way.

The Weekly Dwell: An Intentional Christmas with Our Kids01 déc. 202500:10:01

Welcome to episode one of my four-part Advent Weekly Dwell series on having an intentional Christmas. Today I’m focusing on the kids, and the tension I feel every year between chasing the world’s version of “magic” and building a Christmas that actually has depth.

I’m reminding myself that a truly magical Christmas can’t come at the cost of my peace. If I’m stressed and running on fumes, that’s not the kind of season I want them to remember. I’m doing a heart check first, then choosing to define Christmas through both joy and meaning.

The Weekly Dwell: Let Someone Else Fight For You17 nov. 202500:11:45

This week, I’m sharing a reminder that’s been close to my heart: we were never meant to fight alone.

After a hard night of tears with Michael, I realized how deeply we need to let others in. To ask for prayer, for help, and for community when life feels too heavy.

If you’ve been walking through something quietly, this is your invitation to reach out. Let someone step into the fight with you.

Scripture I’m dwelling on:

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

The Weekly Dwell: Manna for Today10 nov. 202500:09:53

This week, I’m dwelling on what it means to ask God for manna for today.

When life feels overwhelming (financially, emotionally, or physically) it’s easy to pray for the big breakthrough. But lately, I’ve been learning to simply ask, “Lord, will You give me what I need for today?”

This shift has brought peace, clarity, and a deeper trust that He provides exactly what’s needed...no more, no less.

If you’re anxious about the future, this episode is your reminder:

The Weekly Dwell: What's Even Real?03 nov. 202500:10:09

A simple moment with my 8-year-old (“Mama, was that even real?”) sent me down a rabbit hole about AI, deception, and trust. We’re raising kids in a world where videos, headlines, even voices can be fabricated—and sometimes we can’t tell the difference.

Here’s the hope: as deception increases, the power of truth increases too.

When the world blurs the lines, a life rooted in Jesus becomes clearer, steadier, and more compelling.

The Weekly Dwell: Find Your Season’s Anthem27 oct. 202500:07:48

Every season of life seems to come with a song, an anthem that meets me exactly where I am.

This week, I’m dwelling on the idea of finding an anthem, a song that meets you right where you are and helps draw your heart back to Jesus.

From the song that calmed our baby girl, to the anthem that carried us through losing our son James, to the melody that’s helping us surrender in this current season...these songs have marked the most sacred moments of our lives.

If you’ve never thought about having an anthem, I want to encourage you to find one. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just a song that draws you back to Jesus in the middle of whatever you’re walking through.

Sharing About Your Faith in a Divided World23 oct. 202500:28:00

In today’s episode of Doing Life Differently, I’m sharing something that’s been stirring inside me for a long time...a conversation I’ve been both eager and nervous to have.

Ever since 2020, I’ve wrestled with what it looks like to share my faith in a world where every word can be misunderstood or politicized.

It’s heartbreaking that even something as simple as saying “we drink raw milk” can feel controversial in 2025.

But lately, I’ve reached a breaking point and I’m no longer okay living in fear of being misunderstood.

I believe we’re entering a new season of boldness, one that calls us to step out of fear and into purpose.

My prayer is that this episode reminds you: you don’t have to change anyone. You just have to live truthfully...and that’s where the real impact begins!

The Weekly Dwell: What I Learned From My Mexican Medical Emergency20 oct. 202500:13:22

I experienced another major health reaction (this time in a foreign country on vacation) with no access to my usual safety nets. Laying there, shaking and praying for relief, I realized yet again: God is bringing me back to surrender. Not because He wants to scare me, but because He wants to free me.

If you’ve ever said you trust God but still found yourself clenching your fists around outcomes, health, business, motherhood...this is for you.

This week, I’m dwelling on this:

What if surrender is not the loss of control I fear, but the doorway to the peace God has already promised me?

Let’s walk into that peace together.

This week, I’m asking one question: Where does your soul live?

Are you dwelling daily with Jesus, or only stopping by when life gets hard?

In this Weekly Dwell, I share a story and a simple analogy that reminded me what it really means to live in abundance... not just in the desperate seasons, but in the everyday moments too.

Why We Watch The Chosen With Our 8 Year Old09 oct. 202500:23:38

If you’ve ever felt the weight of discipleship as a parent, wondering if you’re doing enough, if your kids are really “getting it,” or if you’re falling short...this episode is for you.

I share the story of how my sister and I stumbled into a simple Friday night rhythm that has completely changed how our kids (and honestly, us too!) see Jesus: popcorn, staying up late, and watching The Chosen with our 8-year-olds.

If you’ve been carrying the pressure of leading your kids perfectly in faith, I hope this episode reminds you: it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the most powerful discipleship happens in the simplest family rhythms.

Resources I mention:

I’d love to hear if you try this in your own home. Send me a message and let me know what it sparks for your family.

And if you’re here as an entrepreneur—don’t miss the end of the episode where I share about KJ Brand Coach GPT, my new on-demand coaching tool that helps you find clarity right in the middle of your messy moments.

The Weekly Dwell: The Gift of Trying Again06 oct. 202500:10:14

This is the very first The Weekly Dwell, a short Monday episode designed to help us slow down, breathe, and remember what’s true.

Today’s story starts with something small (a few grocery bags from Wegman’s) but turns into something so much deeper... a reminder that grace isn’t just a distant, eternal promise.

It’s for right now.

For the messy mornings.

For the defensive tones.

For the moments you wish you could do over.

This week, I’m sharing how one small argument in our home became a beautiful reminder that we always get to go again. Because grace is not an endgame gift. It’s a present reality!

So if you’re walking into Monday already feeling behind or frustrated, take this as your permission to begin again!

You get to go again.

And that is the gift of grace.

More than anything, I’m unpacking how surrender (not white-knuckling) has completely changed the way I lead, parent, and run my business.

61 | What to Expect in an EMDR Session (From Someone Who’s Been There)21 août 202500:22:39

If you had told me a year ago that I’d be sitting across from a therapist, holding buzzing paddles in my hands while my eyes tracked her fingers back and forth… I would have laughed and said, “Nope, not me.”

I thought I was fine.

I’ve been open about loss, near-death experiences, health struggles, and running a business through it all. I believed that because I could talk about the hard things, I had already processed them.

But EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) showed me something I didn’t know—there were little pockets of unprocessed pain still quietly shaping my beliefs, my body, and even my health.

In this episode, I share:

  • What EMDR is and why I finally said yes to it
  • The repeating belief that had been quietly sabotaging me for years
  • Specific moments from my story that shifted from “disturbing” to “sad, but no longer controlling”
  • Why this work matters for entrepreneurs who are living in constant fight-or-flight without even realizing it

This isn’t just a story about therapy—it’s about finally letting your body believe you’re safe. It’s about the relief of feeling like yourself again. And it’s a reminder that you don’t have to keep living with the weight you’ve learned to carry.

If you’ve ever wondered whether the pain you’ve pushed down might still be pushing back… this one’s for you.

Free Resource: 🎧 What Your Brand Says About You

If your marketing feels like you’re shouting into the void… this episode might be the wake-up call you need.

I’ve coached hundreds of entrepreneurs—photographers, real estate agents, coaches, and even multi-million-dollar business owners—and I see the same problem over and over again. They’re posting consistently, they’re doing “all the things,” but their audience still isn’t connecting.

The issue isn’t always strategy.

It’s often the missing brand boosters!!

In this episode, I’m breaking down:

  • What brand boosters actually are (and why they’re not just fluff)
  • How they humanize your brand and make people feel connected to you
  • Why they work for both brand-new business owners and seasoned entrepreneurs
  • How to start identifying your own brand boosters today!

Your audience isn’t just buying what you sell—they’re buying you. And when you get intentional about letting people see the human behind your business, everything changes.

54 | How to Talk with Your Spouse About Your Vision with Julia Woods11 févr. 202500:43:16

This episode hit deep! If you’ve ever felt like you’re the only one driving vision in your marriage or that your spouse doesn’t seem as invested, you’re not alone. Julia Woods and I dive into why vision casting as a couple can feel so challenging—and why it often triggers emotions like fear, shame, and frustration.

Julia shares powerful insights on:

• How vision exposes deeper beliefs about ourselves and our relationship.

• The tension between feeling like we’re “too much” or “not enough” in marriage.

• Why we default to blame instead of doing the deeper work within ourselves.

• The real purpose of vision casting—hint: it’s NOT just about planning trips or setting goals.

>> Learn more about Julia Woods Coaching

I walked away from this conversation so encouraged, especially by the reminder that failed vision meetings aren’t failures at all—they’re gifts that reveal what’s really going on beneath the surface.

If you’re struggling to get on the same page with your spouse, this episode will give you a whole new perspective!

Reflection Questions:

1️⃣ Before approaching a vision conversation, what stories am I telling myself about my spouse? Are they true?

2️⃣ How do I typically react when I feel unseen or unheard in vision planning?

3️⃣ What fears come up when I think about casting vision together? Am I afraid of being “too much” or “not enough”?

4️⃣ How can I shift from trying to get my spouse on my page to creating a page we both want to be on together?

5️⃣ What would it look like to approach vision casting from a place of humility and surrender instead of control?

Take a moment to sit with these before your next vision conversation—you might be surprised what comes up!

53 | How We’re Redefining Success for Our Family04 févr. 202500:40:37

What does success really mean? Is it about income, status, or something deeper?

In this episode, Michael and I sit down for a candid conversation about how our childhood shaped our views on success and how we’re intentionally redefining it for our own children.

We reflect on growing up in a small-town community, the hidden lessons we learned about money and work, and the challenges of raising kids in a world that often equates success with wealth and achievement.

We share three key ways we’re guiding our children in this area:

1. Focusing on Failure First – Helping our kids develop resilience and a healthy relationship with failure before they even define success.

2. Defining Success Holistically – Teaching them that success isn’t just about money or status but about relationships, impact, and purpose.

3. Highlighting Impact Over Income – Emphasizing service, generosity, and solving problems for others rather than chasing financial gain.

Whether you’re a parent or simply reflecting on your own definition of success, I hope this episode challenges you to think differently about what really matters!

Reflection Questions:

  • What was your definition of success growing up? How did your parents influence that?
  • Have you ever felt pressure to measure success by income or status? How has that shaped your decisions?
  • If you’re a parent, what messages about success do you think your children are absorbing from you?
  • How do you personally handle failure? Have you created space for yourself (or your kids) to fail without shame?

47 | Reflection on 3 Years with Acton Academy31 oct. 202400:38:46

In this episode of Doing Life Differently, Michael and I reflect on our unique journey in education as founders of an Acton Academy.

Now in year three, we’re seeing the results of an alternative education model designed to foster independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning in young learners.

If you’re curious about what makes Acton different, we break down how our “learner-driven” approach encourages students to set their own goals, embrace challenges, and learn collaboratively without the traditional structure of grades, tests, or homework.

Highlights from this Episode:

  • What is Acton Academy? Michael explains the core principles of Acton’s learner-led, Socratic approach, which focuses on helping children become self-driven and accountable for their education.
  • The Parent’s Role in Acton: We share how Acton intentionally involves parents as partners, not rescuers, and encourages them to support rather than direct their child’s educational journey.
  • Navigating Challenges in Year Three: With more learners, new challenges arise, but we’ve discovered that more students actually strengthen the self-directed environment, making Acton a safe space for children to learn accountability and responsibility.
  • A Community Like No Other: We highlight the unique family and parent community surrounding Acton, built around shared values and a commitment to doing school differently. From “parent brunches” to monthly gatherings, Acton creates a family-centered educational experience.
  • Preparing for the Future: Looking ahead, we discuss our goals for expanding to a larger campus and the ongoing mission of Acton to instill mental resilience, grit, and a love for learning in every learner.

Tune in for a deep dive into our journey with Acton and the powerful transformations we’ve seen in our learners, our families, and ourselves along the way!
