| Stalker Fan Kills Podcast Host | 24 Mar 2023 | 00:11:18 | |
Have you ever had a stalker? - 1 in 6 women and 1 in 19 men have had at least 1 stalker in their lifetime - 3 in 4 victims know their stalkers in some capacity - Today we will talk about a case that just happened this week, a Texas stalker that drove 2,600 miles from Houston to Redmond Washington to kill his victim and her husband - This case has a modern spin to it- the victim had a podcast, and the stalker was one of her fans. - We lie In a world where 5 million podcasts exist, so are we not statistically likely to see this thing happen more and more? - Also the 1 sided relationship between a podcaster and their fans is quite imbalanced. - I myself am a fan of podcasts, and understand the intimate, yet 1 sided relationship that can be built. After all, we listen to countless hours of a podcasters voice and their musings. How could that NOT create a sense of familiarity? - I have talked to fans of my own work who blow me away with the details they pick up about me from listening to this show - Meanwhile, I have never met them before, and usually had no clue of their existence prior to meeting them. - The story you are about to hear is a case of what happens when the podcaster/podcaster fan relationship goes horribly wrong. - This episode is for Joey, a patron of the show who brought this story to my attention, thank you Joey.
| Gary Ridgeway: Sexual Sadist...? (Part 3) | 28 Feb 2023 | 00:20:59 | |
In Part 3- Dr. Drane explores The Green River Killer along Psychopathic vs. Sociopathic criteria. Also, we finally answer the question: Is Gary Ridgeway a sexual sadist? Today, in the spirit of all things unknown, I am going to be exploring the Sexual Sadism of Gary Ridgeway aka The Green River Killer. I recently had the coolest experience of being able to participate in a documentary on Gary Ridgeway that will be released soon on Tubi. Full Episodes ---> Patreon.com/doctorpsychopodcast In preparation for this documentary, I discovered multiple experts who classified Ridgeway as a sexual sadist, and I myself classified him as one on the documentary as well. Why do experts commonly believe that The Green River Killer was a sexual sadist, you ask? Why, it’s because he strangled them to death after having sex with them. Sexual sadism is when you get sexual thrill from the prolonged torture and the enjoyment of watching your victim suffer. Compared to other sexual sadists, Ridgeway finished his victims rather quickly, and did not take pleasure in prolonging their deaths or suffering, nor did he take the time to revel in the act of killing them. Ridgeway simply strangled them after sex. Is that really sexual sadism? To answer this question, my wonderful stalkers, let’s dive into the Ridgeway case. I will recap the history of the Green River Killer, and then consider the criteria for sexual sadism to see if it lines up with Gary Rigeway. And of course, I want to hear your thoughts too!

| Satanism vs. Insanity: The Case of Nathan Brooks | 19 Aug 2021 | 00:05:07 | |
On Sept. 30th, 1995 in Bellaire, Ohio -- 16 yr old Ryan Brooks was staying over at his friend Erik’s house. Like most teenagers, Ryan and Erik were up late hanging out. Ryan was out so late that he decided to check in with his parents. Ryan calls home at approximately 1:30 AM and his older brother Nathan answers the phone. His mother, Marilyn, had been stabbed and mutilated with both an axe and a knife. His father, Terry, was shot in the head three times with a hunting rifle. His head was cut off with a hacksaw and placed in a punch bowl in the kitchen while his body still lay in his bed where he had been sleeping. Ryan’s older brother Nathan had lied to him. His parents hadn’t asked him to come home. Nathan had wanted him to come home so he could murder him along with the rest of the family. Even more, Nathan had created a kill list, and at the top of that list was Ryan. After Nathan killed his parents, he covered the house with satanic emblems and pentagrams. * * * Follow us on all platforms at @upcpodcast Unpopular Culture Podcast is a Forensic Psychology podcast created and hosted by Professor & Psychotherapist Michael Drane. | The Devil Made Me Do It: The Psychology of Demonic Possession | 16 Jun 2021 | 00:07:04
It’s 7PM, February 16th, 1981. Arne Cheyene Johnson, 19, has just been arrested for the murder of his 40-year-old friend and landlord, Alan Bono. Arne Stabbed Bono over 20 times after getting into an altercation about an unknown female. Fascinatingly, Arne Johnson claimed to have no memory of the event, stating that he was possessed by the devil after an exorcism was performed on his girlfriend’s brother David Getzel. Following his conviction, Johnson served 5 years of his 20-year-sentence for exemplary behavior. The case of Arne Cheyenne Johnson baffles skeptics, affirms the believer, and truly blurs the line between the paranormal and the psychological. Is demonic possession real? Or is it simply a matter of one’s cultural beliefs? Listen in as Professor Michael Drane and Cybersecurity Engineer Ryan Lee discuss this highly debated topic surrounding the release of ‘The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It.’ This episode was a stalker request from our beloved Hailey—thank you Hailey! | Push Button, Get Happy. | 05 Jan 2021 | 00:06:00
The cost of entry into happiness is lower than it’s ever been. Every day we experience psychological addiction through our most popular video games because these platforms utilize neuropsychology to keep the players coming back for more. This is the same process as a slot machine. But what happens when you put a slot machine into a human brain? What happens when humans are given an all-access pass to bliss? In a split second, your pain, physical discomfort, and emotional misery are all gone. All you feel is bliss. And all you have to do to get it is to push this button. What are the repercussions of this outcome? What are the societal consequences? In this week’s episode, Professor Michael Drane and Cybersecurity Engineer Ryan Lee explore what drives happiness, human ambition, and our sense of purpose. They look at the consequences of ‘pay for play’ happiness, the ethical ramifications of a digital divide, as well as the looming dangers and perks of technology like Elon Musk’s neuralink. Stay safe out there friends, and we hope you enjoy the show.
