| Close that next big DEAL | 08 May 2024 | 00:24:20 | |
In this episode, James covers a topic that many ask him about. That is “Why am I not closing deals”, James gives an honest account of why you might not be closing a deal, talking honesty about how a higher value deal could mean more work than closing in the early stages. James breaks this down into reasons why you might not be closing a deal, they are: 1) Understanding the true outcome of the first meeting, often we think the meeting has gone really well, when in fact we may have missed key signs. This is all about emotional intelligence, have you read the signals and be self-aware enough to understand how that meeting really went? 2) The buyer simply isn’t in enough pain – we buy because of a pain, or a desire. If that pain is not enough then you are fighting a losing battle. How much does your buyer want the solution you offer? 3) Priority – how high up is your solution to your buyer? Are there other problems a higher priority on their list, most companies or people will have a certain budget to spend, and naturally we prioritise what we need to around our budget. We can establish this by asking great questions. 4) Passion - is this something that your buyer is passionate about? Do they truly care about the problem or solution that you offer, again by asking great questions we can establish this and understand how important our solution is to our buyer. 5) Belief and Trust - Does your buyer truly believe that you will solve their problem, do they trust you to truly deliver their desired outcome for them? Case studies are extremely powerful but we need to ensure our buyer understands how our solution will benefit them. | Time management strategies | 24 Apr 2024 | 00:22:59 | |
In this episode, James talks about Time Management a key area in sales. It doesn’t matter who we are, a multi-billionaire business person or someone running a small business, we all have 24 hours in a day but what the most successful people do is manage their time effectively. James gives some tips to help you manage your time effectively. This episode's key areas include: Time Blocks – James uses this in his own business, he gives priorities to staff members then encourages staff to put in place time blocks in their diaries. He explains in detail how he breaks this down into high impact, medium impact and low impact and how his staff focus their time in these areas to achieve results. Use of time during the day – utilising your time effectively during the day, James talks about the 5 am club which is a book James has found extremely helpful. This is all about owning your morning to set up your day well. James is a firm believer in “owning your morning” to set up well for the day. However, if you are not a morning person it doesn’t mean this principal won’t work for you, you simply adapt to find a time that works for you. Journal – this can be an extremely effective method, if you can identify the night before your key tasks for the following day this can keep you focused, reduce procrastination and can help you achieve your goals over the longer term. Finding small talks for each day, over time can help you achieve some big goals. Multi-tasking – James talks about the danger of multi-tasking, this can actually become extremely counterproductive and actually focusing on tasks can be far more effective. Trying to identify a few significant tasks, and then focusing on them can be extremely powerful. Removing distractions – We live in a digital age where we are more connected than ever, sometimes simply removing distractions such as mobile phones to focus on other tasks for a period of time can be extremely effective.
