140. Using 3D Renders to Close More Projects and Increase Profits with Fernando Duque15 Apr 202400:53:19

Welcome to another episode of "Design for the Creative Mind" with your host, Michelle Lynne,  Today, we've got a jam-packed episode with not one, not two, but three amazing guests joining us. Let's give a warm welcome to Monica and Fabian Rivas from Enliven Interiors, based out of vibrant Las Vegas, Nevada. These two have been making waves in the design world, being featured in top publications like AD, Apartment Therapy, and Homes and Gardens. And that's just scratching the surface of their incredible journey. We're also thrilled to have Fernando Duque, the co-founder and CEO of Duke Renders, with us today. Fernando is a marketing genius, and you might have seen him at various conferences and events spreading his knowledge.

Monica and Fabian's journey is a testament to passion and dedication. With Monica's background in interior design and Fabian's expertise in business and marketing, they make a dynamic duo. Their journey began in school, where they crossed paths while pursuing their respective passions. Fast forward to today, and they've built a thriving business together, combining their skills to create stunning spaces.

But how did they connect with Fernando? Well, it all started with a podcast. Fabian came across Fernando's work and was immediately drawn to his innovative marketing strategies. They hit it off and realized they shared a vision for their businesses. Soon enough, they joined forces, and the rest is history.

What makes Monica and Fabian's partnership unique is their ability to complement each other's strengths. While Monica thrives in the creative realm, Fabian brings his business acumen to the table. Together, they've created a winning formula that fuels their success.

And let's not forget about the importance of renderings in their projects. With Monica's background in architectural gaming and their focus on hospitality and commercial spaces, renderings are a crucial part of their process. That's where Fernando and his team come in. Their collaboration has elevated the quality of their projects, providing clients with stunning visuals that bring their visions to life.

But what about residential projects? While renderings are a staple for their hospitality and commercial work, they're gradually incorporating them into their residential projects as well. With Monica's talent for hand sketches, they've found a perfect balance between traditional and digital techniques.

One of the keys to Monica and Fabian's success is their commitment to excellence. They've built their reputation on delivering top-notch service, and their clients have taken notice. With a focus on word-of-mouth referrals, they've organically grown their business and established themselves as industry leaders.

At the heart of it all is their passion for creating meaningful experiences for their clients. Whether it's designing a luxury hotel or transforming a family home, Monica and Fabian pour their hearts into every project, ensuring that each space reflects the unique vision of their clients.

And let's not forget about the importance of teamwork. With Lillian rounding out their team, they've created a supportive environment where creativity thrives. Lillian brings her own expertise to the table, contributing to their collective success.

Monica, Fabian, and Fernando are a force to be reckoned with in the design world. Their passion, talent, and dedication shine through in everything they do, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

Fernando is the co-founder of Duke Renders, your go-to for stunning 3D visualizations.    Duke Renders specializes in 100% photorealistic 3D rendering services, offering "do it for you" solutions perfect for interior designers seeking realistic and efficient visualizations.    They handle the entire rendering process, from concept to completion, reducing back and forth with clients, ensuring faster turnarounds, and guaranteeing you, your client and your contractors are on the same page so you can focus on what you do best – creating beautiful spaces.

41. The Great Social Outage of 202106 Dec 202100:16:26

What were you doing on October 4, 2021? If you were like many people, you were wondering what the heck was going on with some of the major social media platforms. Many businesses use these platforms to reach potential clients, and on this day, no one was able to reach anyone or do anything. What would you do if it happens again? Where would it leave your business if it goes away forever? I want to be able to choose who I can market to, so in this episode, I am sharing with you the best way to be in control of the success or failure of your business.

Michelle Lynne began her interior design career after spending more than two decades working in Corporate America. She began in the home staging arena and has since built a successful, award-winning, full-service interior design firm, employing talented designers and serving clients across the country.

In the summer of 2018, Michelle began focusing on a big gap she saw missing in the interior design industry: teaching interior designers how to run the business of an interior design business. She now engages in private coaching and leads an in-depth, 12-month group coaching program, both options focus on teaching designers profitable processes, systems, strategies and mindset needed to run a streamlined, profitable interior design firm.

Her motto is simple: we rise by lifting others.

23. Be The Leader You Would Want to Work With02 Aug 202100:20:19

Today I want to talk about the importance of leadership. Whether you have a team supporting you or not, leadership is the number one skill that leads to freedom. Learning how to get results through others enables you to take a step back and enjoy the results of your work. In this episode, I share a few things you can work on to become a better leader and get the best out of your team.

She now engages in private coaching and leads an in-depth, 12-month group coaching program, both options focus on teaching designers profitable processes, systems, strategies, and mindset needed to run a streamlined, profitable interior design firm.

Her motto is simple: we rise by lifting others.

Welcome back to another episode of Designed For The Creative Mind, today we have special guest Allyson Conklin, founder and principal of ACPR, a boutique public relations agency catering to interior designers.

17. What is a Receiver and How Do I Find One?21 Jun 202100:38:10

Hey, y’all! This episode is a little different than my usual ones because today I’m sharing a video interview I had a while back with Morgan Heinrich. I’m asked so often about how to work with a receiver, how to find a good receiver, and what to look out for when hiring a receiver. Morgan is a professional receiver, and although she is no longer with the receiving company we refer to in this episode, I felt there was a lot of good information to share that I hope you find helpful.

Being native to Dallas and with over 20 years of experience in the design industry Beth has made it her primary goal to advise and equip clients to maximize their time, resources and profitability. 7. How Working With an Artist Elevates Your Business with Jill Malouf12 Apr 202100:31:53

Jill Malouf is an award-winning abstract artist in Dallas, Texas. Her paintings evoke a sense of  calm and peacefulness through subtle custom color palettes and inspiration from nature.

Her artwork captures more than just the literal view. Jill creates a mood or an essence and lets  the viewer's imagination fill in the rest…A favorite vacation…A memory of a loved one.

Jill is self-taught and has developed her own ‘secret sauce’ for creating custom textures and translucence. Her intensive, process driven approach is built upon ever-evolving layers and  spontaneous changes. “I love the slow process of building layer upon layer. Lingering in the  moment is both the requirement and the reward.”

136. March Madness - Remembering Our Word of the Year18 Mar 202400:19:32

Hello, everyone! In this solo episode of Designed for the Creative Mind, I delve into the concept of having a "word of the year" and how it can guide and influence your personal and professional life.

I started contemplating my word of the year during the fourth quarter and honed in on it around Thanksgiving. Initially, I considered words like "mindful," "clarity," and "wisdom," but none felt quite right. I wanted a word that resonated with me on a deeper level, something that could act as a beacon for decision-making and personal growth.

After much reflection, I landed on the word "align." This word encapsulates my desire to make choices that resonate with how I want to feel and the direction I want my life and business to take. It's about ensuring that my actions are in harmony with my goals, beliefs, and desired feelings.

A recent personal example of putting this word into action was the decision to sell our house. Despite its uniqueness and the memories we've created there, the idea of selling felt aligned with my desire for a simpler, less burdensome living situation.

I encourage you to find your own word of the year, no matter what time of year it is. It's a powerful tool that can provide clarity and direction. And remember, it's okay to change your word if it no longer serves you.

I'd love to hear your word of the year, so feel free to drop me a DM on Instagram at @designedforthecreativemind And if you enjoyed this episode, please consider leaving a review and joining our Facebook group, the Interior Designers Business Launchpad, for more business advice.

Until next time, keep striving for alignment in all that you do. Love ya. Mean it.

118. Project Pitching 101 with Sarah Lyon06 Nov 202300:40:25

In this episode I’m introducing you to Sarah Lyon, a full-time freelance writer for publications such as Architectural Digest, Apartment Therapy, The Spruce, Washington Post, and more. We're thrilled to have her here to share her insights and experiences.

We delve into Sarah's journey into the world of freelance interiors writing and how her passion for writing and journalism led her down this path, even without a dedicated journalism major at her liberal arts college. Sarah's background as an editor for her student newspaper laid the foundation for her career, honing her technical skills and ethics involved in journalism. After graduating, she moved to New York City and embarked on an exciting career in the world of print magazines.

We learn from Sarah how she transitioned into freelancing while working her full-time job and how she was able to balance the unknown of going full time in her business, with the practical things she wanted to make sure she had in place when she finally took the leap. Her transition was gradual and cautious, which allowed her to make an informed decision about going full-time as a freelance writer.

You will learn about how to pitch your projects effectively to publications. Sarah recommends introducing yourself, providing context about your projects, sharing your background, and creating a compelling story around your work. She emphasizes the importance of following up on pitches but advises doing so strategically. Remember, it's all about building a professional relationship with editors.

Thank you for tuning in to this episode. We hope you found Sarah's journey and advice inspiring. If you enjoyed this podcast, don't forget to subscribe and leave us a review.
