US Special Envoy Amos Hochstein is in the Lebanese capital, holding talks for a second day He's hoping to make progress for a potential ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah. On Tuesday, Hochstein met the Lebanese prime minister Najib Mikati and speaker of parliament Nabih Berri. A Hezbollah official says that any peace deal must swiftly end Israel's attacks and preserve Lebanon's sovereignty.

It's Day 411 of Israel's war on Gaza and for a second day in row, Israeli forces shell Kamal Adwan Hospital, the only health facility still operational in northern Gaza. It's director general says at least 85 patients are inside, most of them are women and children. Meanwhile, Israel continues to target residential buildings. The latest attack happened in the neighourhood of Zeitoun. Since dawn, at least 24 Palestinians have been killed across the Gaza strip but that number is only expected to rise as more injured are taken to overburdened hospitals.

One of the few partially functioning hospitals in northern Gaza is Kamal Adwan Hospital. Israeli fighter jets targeted a section of the facility, where medical supplies delivered by the World Health Organization were being stored. The attack destroyed most of the critically needed supplies, that were received only days ago. Kamal Adwan has been struggling to provide medical assistance to the surge in patients from Israel's assault on the north. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has condemned ongoing attacks by Israeli forces on the besieged Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern part of the enclave.

A warning that some of the images we have from the attack are graphic. At least 55 people have been killed by an Israeli attack on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. The strikes targeted a five-story residential building where displaced families were sheltering. Dozens more people are still trapped under the rubble. The north of Gaza has been under an Israeli siege for nearly a month.

Israel's parliament has passed a law, banning the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. UNRWA has condemned the ban, calling it outrageous. The ban will significantly restrict UNRWA's activities across occupied East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made his first comments about the “malignant” Israeli attack on Iran early Saturday in a meeting with the families of the four members of the armed forces who were killed. The Israelis try to make the impact of the strikes appear larger than reality, but any move inside Iran to make them appear smaller would also be “wrong”, he said. “It would be wrong for us to say that it was nothing and it did not matter,” Khamenei said. “The calculation error of the Zionist regime must be disrupted. They do not know Iran, its youth, its nation. They have not yet been able to fully comprehend the power, capabilities, initiative and will of the Iranian nation, we must make them understand it.” Khamenei also opened a Hebrew account on X after the Israeli strikes.

Hind Hassan, who conducted a one-on-one interview with Yahya Sinwar in 2021, said he came across as a man “who was defiant” in his beliefs. Hassan told Al Jazeera she met him “walking down the street in full view” during a period when Israel had been bombing Gaza for 11 days and “everyone had believed he was in hiding”. Hind said he did “not shy away” from some of the tougher questions. She said when she asked a question about the claims that Hamas firing rockets into Israel could constitute a war crime, he became “passionate” in his responses. He said that Palestinians were expected to be “perfect victims, and that’s something that they cannot be”, she said. He also drew a comparison between the protest movement that sprung up in the wake of George Floyd’s killing by US police in 2020, and what happened with the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States, to the Palestinian cause, Hind said.

People forced to flee Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon are eager to return to their homes. Major routes are full of vehicles heading south. More than a year of bombardment has displaced 1.2 million people across the country. Israeli journalist Meron Rapoport says pressure from incoming president Donald Trump is a factor, as he promised voters that there will be peace in Lebanon, but there are other considerations as well.

Netanyahu is speaking on Israeli television following an hours-long meeting with his security cabinet that discussed the ceasefire deal. The agreement would end Hezbollah’s armed presence along the border south of the Litani River and require Israeli troops to withdraw from southern Lebanon.
