He told Al Jazeera that “there’s no hope that the ceasefire will continue” after all the captives are released, when Israel will return to “the same old story of killing the Palestinians”.

Hamas says it submitted its response after completing consultations with Palestinian forces and factions. “The movement has submitted a positive response to the mediators, and the movement is fully prepared to immediately enter into a round of negotiations regarding the mechanism for implementing this framework,” it said in a statement posted on Telegram.

Mohamad Elmasry, a professor of media studies at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, says UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese’s report about corporate complicity in Israeli abuses both raises legal questions and creates “bad public relations” for the firms named. “Multiple cases are being made against Israel,” Elmasry told Al Jazeera, noting that several reports on Israeli violations of international law have been produced since the war on Gaza began.

Calls are getting louder for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) centres to be shut down. They come as another 29 Palestinians were killed at the sites on Wednesday, while seeking food. More than 640 people have been killed since the GHF began operating five weeks ago. The Swiss government has initiated proceedings to dissolve the Geneva branch of the GHF citing legal shortcomings. The UN Secretary-General's office says the globally accepted humanitarian standards must be followed while distributing aid.

Israeli forces are intensifying their demolition campaign across the occupied West Bank, targeting Palestinian homes and structures in refugee camps and villages. Since January, hundreds of homes have been razed in three refugee camps, with hundreds more slated for destruction. This forms part of Israel's most extensive and destructive assault on the West Bank in decades. The demolitions extend beyond refugee camps, affecting Palestinians who lack Israeli-issued building permits, which are rarely granted. In Masafer Yatta, southern West Bank, nearly 1,200 Palestinians, including over 500 children, face potential displacement as Israeli forces plan to demolish structures in 13 Bedouin communities, citing interference with military training. Critics argue these actions are part of a broader strategy to isolate Palestinian communities, expand illegal settlements, and potentially pave the way for future annexation of the occupied territory.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, UNRWA Director of Affairs in Gaza Sam Rose condemned Israel’s ‘militarised’ aid system that has seen 600+ Palestinians killed while queueing for food. He described dehumanising ‘cattle pen’ distributions open for mere minutes, leaving 2 million reliant on just four sites—none in famine-stricken north Gaza. Rose warned this ‘murderous free-for-all’ compounds Gaza’s intolerable crisis, with bombings, evictions and fuel shortages creating ‘a bloody Sunday every day’. He accused GHF of operational failure, stressing proper aid requires expertise—not the current chaos enabling mass casualties. While 138 organisations demand GHF’s closure, Rose emphasised only a ceasefire can end suffering that ‘will scar generations’. With Israel blocking alternatives, he noted civilians face impossible choices: risk death for scraps or starve. Rose stressed famine now outweighs bombardment as Gaza’s top killer.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio says foreign assistance will now be limited and targeted. President Donald Trump began dismantling the agency soon after taking office in January, as part of his plan to reduce government spending. Thousands of staff were fired and humanitarian aid to some of the world's most vulnerable populations was withdrawn.

Meanwhile, an Israeli court has postponed Netanyahu's scheduled testimony in his long-running corruption trial. His hearings were put off for the next two weeks, after the head of Mossad and the Israeli intelligence chief, cited national security concerns. Just hours earlier, US President Donald Trump called for the case against Netanyahu to be dropped.

The Times of Israel reports the Jerusalem District Court has postponed Netanyahu’s planned testimony in his corruption trial this week after the Israeli prime minister argued “diplomatic and national security issues” need his attention. According to Reuters, the ruling said that new reasons provided by Netanyahu, the head of Israel’s spy agency Mossad and the military intelligence chief justified cancelling the hearings. The decision comes a day after Trump lambasted the trial itself, calling it a “POLITICAL WITCH HUNT” that the US is “not going to stand for”.

The huge crowds gathered for a state funeral in Tehran reflect a renewed sense of patriotism across Iran in the wake of the recent conflict, according to an Iranian researcher. Ali Akbar Dareini of Tehran’s Centre for Strategic Studies told Al Jazeera that the Israeli and American attacks had “reignited that sense of patriotism and nationalism in Iran”.

The move underscored European anxieties over Russian aggression while exposing Trump’s transactional alliance tactics. Trump framed the de-escalation as a personal win, though Israel’s partial strike revealed lingering tensions. Rutte’s effusive messages, made public, blurred NATO’s diplomatic norms with overt flattery of Trump’s Iran policy. The dual focus on ceasefire diplomacy and spending demands highlighted Trump’s blend of crisis management and political spectacle.

Iran’s state TV says it is being attacked by Israel in latest wave of missile strikes on Tehran.

Elijah Magnier, a military and political analyst, says he believes the hostilities between Israel and Iran will only get worse, but that Israeli support for the war may wane if the destruction continues. “I think it’s going to continue escalating because we are just in the first days of the war that Israel declared on Iran,” he told Al Jazeera. “And also the Israeli officials, the prime minister and the army, have all warned Israeli society that this war is going to be heavy and … the price is going to be extremely high. But the society that stands behind Benjamin Netanyahu and supports the war on Iran did not expect this level of destruction because, since 1973, Israel has not waged a war on a country and never been attacked on this scale, right in the heart of Tel Aviv,” Magnier said from Paris.

An Iranian missile has just made impact in Israel's city of Haifa. Iran's armed forces have warned Israelis to leave the vicinity of “vital areas”, according to state television. There's been projectiles in the skies of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as well.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran does not seek to expand its conflict with Israel to neighbouring countries unless forced. He described Iran’s military response as defensive. As Israeli air raids continued, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s opposition to nuclear weapons but defended its right to peaceful nuclear development. He said Iran had been ready to offer assurances in the now-cancelled sixth round of US talks, which could have led to an agreement. Araghchi also accused Israel of trying to derail diplomatic progress with Washington.

Iran’s official news agency says Iranian forces are carrying out a hybrid attack with drones accompanying the missiles targeting Israeli cities.

Iran says that the Shahran oil depot northwest of Tehran was targeted in an Israeli attack, but that the situation is under control. Earlier, we reported that Israel had attacked a gas field close to Bushehr and the oil refinery in Abadan.

The Israeli prime minister says the attacks are aimed at Iran’s nuclear programme, ballistic missiles and military capabilities. “This operation will continue as long as necessary, until we complete the mission,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

The IAEA has passed a resolution censuring Iran over its nuclear programme—the first such move in 20 years. France, Germany, and the UK led the charge, citing uranium traces at undeclared sites and lack of transparency. Tehran, calling the resolution a strategic mistake, warned of countermeasures and rejected the IAEA’s findings. The US hopes to use the resolution to push Iran towards renewed talks and limits on uranium enrichment. Experts warn Iran could reach weapons-grade enrichment within five months if it proceeds unchecked. Iran has threatened to limit inspections or even withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty if sanctions resume. In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry and its Atomic Energy Organisation announced in a joint statement that the country will build a new uranium enrichment facility “in a secure location”, adding that “other measures… will be announced later”.

An Air India plane bound for London with more than 240 people on board has crashed in India's western city of Ahmedabad. Officials say there are no known survivors. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad's airport. Local media are reporting the aircraft crashed on a Medical College hostel. The number of victims on the ground is unclear. Emergency crews are at the scene in Ahmedabad. The aircraft reportedly gave a "mayday" call, signalling an emergency, shortly after take-off.

President Trump has promised the “largest deportation operation in American history”, targeting millions of undocumented immigrants. Trump’s tough stance on immigration helped to get him elected, but the way he’s going about his immigration crackdown is causing alarm among many people and has led to violent protests in LA.

Israeli naval commandos have taken control of the Madleen, a British-flagged vessel operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), which had set sail to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza. The yacht, carrying 12 people including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and an Al Jazeera journalist, was intercepted in international waters, approximately 160km from Gaza’s coast.

Video showed strikes on Dahiyeh shortly after the Israeli military said it would strike the neighbourhood. The Israeli military has said it was targeting underground drone production sites. Prior to the attacks, it issued forced evacuation orders for four areas in Dahiyeh.

The Israeli-US aid operation has turned Gaza into a “human abattoir”, or slaughterhouse, former UNRWA spokesperson Chris Gunness has said, in a reference to distribution sites operated by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). “Hundreds of civilians are herded like animals into fenced-off pens and are slaughtered like cattle in the process,” Gunness told Al Jazeera. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation announced a full day’s closure on Wednesday, saying that operations would resume after the completion of maintenance and repair work on its distribution sites. It comes after Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians seeking aid, killing at least 27 people and injuring about 90, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The closure has extended into today. The former UN official cast doubt on the reason for the suspension, saying its work had been halted “because it has rightly sparked international outrage and condemnation”.

The result of the voting is as follows: 14 votes in favour, one vote against (by the US), and zero abstentions. The United States vetoed the UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza because it’s not linked to the release of captives. The resolution also does not condemn Hamas’s deadly attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, or say the group must disarm and withdraw from Gaza – two other US demands.

Russian and Ukrainian delegations have started a new round of talks in Istanbul. Turkiye is hosting the second round of direct discussions between the two countries, in the hope of ending the war that's been going on for more than three years.

The aid site is under the control of the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by the US and Israel. The United Nations has accused the organisation of weaponising aid, warning that it could serve to depopulate northern Gaza, as planned by the Israeli military.

Dr. Mohamed Salha, director of Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, says Israeli forces forced the evacuation of the last functioning hospital in the region under threat of bombing. Patients were carried on foot, roads were blocked, and medical supplies destroyed. He warns of rising deaths and disease as Gaza’s health system collapses.

The United States will not tolerate "exploitation" of American universities by the Chinese Communist Party or theft of US research and intellectual property, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said. In a briefing at the State Department, Bruce declined to provide numbers for how many Chinese students would be affected by a new plan to "aggressively" revoke visas announced on Wednesday, but said officials would scrutinize anyone "deemed to be a threat to the country or a problem."

Shaina Low, the Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NRC) communications adviser in Palestine, says the scenes of Palestinians desperately seeking food highlight the risks involved in bypassing coordinated humanitarian distribution systems. “What we’re seeing now – people walking tens of kilometres to access distribution sites, the chaos that is unfolding, the way that Palestinians are being corralled to reach aid – it’s just devastating,” Low told Al Jazeera from Amman, Jordan. “People have been suffering for nearly 20 months of hostilities now and are desperate for any type of food or any type of assistance to help them and their families survive. No one should be subjected to this type of undignified treatment and the danger that it poses for civilians.” Low added that these distribution sites are being used “to advance Israel’s political and military objectives” to displace Palestinians. In contrast, humanitarian groups such as the NRC and the United Nations deliver assistance directly to people in need, where they are. “That ensures that vulnerable people … don’t have to go long distances. We make sure that aid reaches people in need and is fit for what their needs are. The boxes that they have been receiving are nowhere near adequate to meet the desperate needs of a population that’s been starved for the past 80-plus days.”
