| Cycling Legends History Show - TI Raleigh | 18 Oct 2022 | 00:57:18 | |
TI-Raleigh was a game changer. Most big professional cycling teams from the 1940s onwards were built around one man. He was the leader and the rest were there to support him. All the post-War greats; Fausto Coppi, Louison Bobet, Rik Van Looy, Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx had teams built around them, and for them alone. TI-Raleigh changed that. In an episode from October 2022 and previously only available on the Cycling Legends subscriber feed, Chris Sidwells chats about the latest book in his Cycling Legends series and talks about some of the tales and the characters behind cycling's very first superteam. | Interview Show - Ian Hallam | 17 Apr 2024 | 01:05:03 | |
Ian Hallam is an Olympic medal winner from a time when British cyclists generally didn’t win Olympic medals. He first represented Great Britain at the Mexico games in 1968 and went on to win a bronze medal in Munich in 1972 and again in 1976 in Montreal in the Team Pursuit. He also won 3 Commonwealth titles in the Individual Pursuit and 4km Team Pursuit and has held no fewer than 25 National track titles between 1969 and 1981. Chris Sidwells caught up with Ian this week to talk about his career, training and life after cycling (plus some lesser-known aerodynamic innovations from the 1970s!).
