How to Close the Year With Intention: Releasing, Reflecting, Resting & Preparing for What’s Next

Season 28 · Episode 13

vendredi 26 décembre 2025Duration 41:32

Hey lady! We made it! In this final episode of 2025, Dr. Dom and Terri celebrate all that has happened in this year so that they can honor it with sacred closure and use the lessons learned to fuel a productive, prosperous, and peaceful new year.

Lady, what are the rituals and practices that you do at the end of year that help you set powerful intentions to have the year you want to have? Are you a woman who doesn’t play about having the house clean, the Black-eyed peas and greens on the stove when the clock strikes 12 on January 1? Are you a woman who likes to review all that happened this year to reflect on what went well and what could use some improvement…and what just doesn’t need to happen no mo’? Are you the woman who believes in pressing forward without addressing the good and the bad of what they year brought? Or, are you the woman who shuts the laptop, snuggles in bed with your favorite snack, book, show and gets all of the rest you need?

We’re grown women so you already know that there is no right way to do life but Terri and Dr. Dom have some tips and frameworks that can help you sort through the year you’ve had so that you walk into 2026 with clarity and a sense of direction. Tune into this episode for journal prompts to walk you through your thoughts so that you’re off to the races when the clock strikes.

Cheers to a safe and restful rest of the year!

Quote of the Day:

“What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”

The Zombie Apocolypse Is Not So Far Away with Jenna Chrisphonte

Season 28 · Episode 12

vendredi 19 décembre 2025Duration 57:53

Lady, as we head into what is hopefully a quiet, restful holiday season why don’t you swap out your phone for a riveting new book that offers an escape into a world where zombies offer a glimpse into the power and beauty that resides in the Haitian culture.

Jenna Chrisphonte, a New York-based author and playwright, invites readers on a journey where zombies and voodoo offer a historical perspective of the strength and resilience of Haiti. Talc: A Hatian Zombie Story is a resonant and timely look into how multifaceted revolutionary spirits are and why these stories are important in the Black diaspora.

The current regime is trying to assert an oppressive and authoritarian hand in America to quell  any desire for an uprising and they are banking on its citizens to be too tired, too scared, and too poor to fight back. Jenna’s work offers a perspective on how the tapestry of unique cultural experiences can weave together to create a resistance stronger than any dark force can conquer.

Jenna discusses how her Haitian upbringing allowed her to gather lessons from her people that can be of use during this time of radical restructuring of our democracy. But, if all of that feels heavy just allow Jenna’s strong prose and attention to her craft whisk you away to world where zombies roam. By the end, you may begin to think that they already walk amongst us. What do we mean by that? Tune in!

Quote of the Day:

"Theater is the ground where the healing of this nation can begin to take place."

And, Dr. Dom offers her perspective as a licensed clinical psychologist who works closely with women to process their lives pre- and post-divorce so that they can write beautiful new chapters in their full life stories.

Tune in for a grounded conversation about the highs and the lows of divorce and give yourself grace for wherever you are on the path.

S21E2: Embracing Self-Compassion: Navigating Accountability and Overcoming Mental Roadblocks

Season 21 · Episode 2

vendredi 12 janvier 2024Duration 51:08

Lady, last week Dr. Dom and Terri set the stage for a powerful, productive, and prosperous 2024. But, they only had one hour and didn’t cover one of the most important keys of how you get there – self-compassion. This week, Terri and Dr. Dom dive deep into the nuances of one of the most impactful tools you can carry in your arsenal. Self-compassion is an opportunity to give yourself grace for the lessons you’ve learned and the wisdom to forgive yourself for doing your best with the information you had at the time. They discuss scenarios that help you identify when you’re being self-compassionate and self-pitying. One helps you move forward to a place of accountability, giving you the power to make informed decisions about the changes you want to make in your life. The other can, if left unchecked, keep you in a loop or leave you stuck. Curl up with your favorite mug of tea (psst! Check the Cultivating H.E.R. Space shop for an amazing latte mug and pillow for lounging), turn us on, and get ready for a heap of soul nourishment as you journey towards healing!
