Dr. Thomas is Head of the Genomic Cancer Medicine Lab at Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the inaugural Director of the University of New South Wales Centre for Molecular Oncology. As a clinician-scientist, he applies genomic technologies to the understanding and management of cancer and has made groundbreaking contributions to the understanding and management of cancer, including the major inherited cancer predisposition syndromes. Dr. Thomas founded the Australasian Sarcoma Study Group, established the Australian Genomic Cancer Medicine Centre (Omico), and leads the International Sarcoma Kindred Study. In 2018, he was President of CTOS and he has been a member of CTOS for 18 years.

In this interview, Dr. Thomas will share his perspective on past, current, and emerging challenges and opportunities in the field of precision sarcoma oncology, reflect on his career path as a physician- scientist, and discuss the importance of international collaborative efforts to impact patient care.
