From Beyond tells the story of Crawford Tillinghast. A man who believes he has made the monumental discovery of a world and beings that are invisible to everyone. Everyone except Tillinghast however, who has built a vast machine that will allow him and his concerned friend to see these invisible worlds and their inhabitants once and for all. The year is 1918 and the ship USS Cyclops has just left port from Rio de Janeiro with 11,000 tons of magnesium ore onboard to make its final journey back home to Baltimore USA. Its captain, George W. Worley is confident that he and his crew would make it back to the USA in a matter of weeks, but unknown to them, under their ship, are thousands of deadly crab-like sea creatures unlike anything anyone has ever seen. They have been evolving for decades, waiting for the right time to rise from the dark abys, and now that time has come and all they want now, is to feed. In this second ever bonus episode, I talk with my dear friend and fellow voiceover artist Mars Lipowski where we explore a lot of things as well as hearing his story of how his love for voice over started out from a love for movies. When he used to act in his film maker father's movies and watch hundreds of English speaking movies where movie dubbing was uncommon from his home country of Poland, which then led him to want to become a voice over artist. This is the first of many special "Conversation" episodes, a series of bonus interview type episodes where I have a conversation with the Authors and Writers responsible for the stories that you hear on Cryo Pod Tapes, whom there would be no Cryo Pod Tapes without. As well as working Voice Over Artists who have leant their voices to some story episodes.
In this first Conversation episode, I sit and chat with horror writer, Aaron Lebold who is the talent behind several Cryo Pod Tapes stories including Bloodlust, Thoughts? Stewart and Radio Silence. We talk about his life, his work, and his experiences and inspirations that drove him to write the stories he writes today. Both Aaron and myself share similar passions with how we as creatives, have continued to do the stuff we love to do despite the hardships we have faced with the biggest one being Imposter Syndrome. Jeffery is young boy who is sad, alone and tormented by the memory of his father leaving him and his mother without a word. He is bullied at school, even disliked by his own mother. The only comfort he has in the world, is a little frog he rescued. A bond forms between them and Jeffery starts to feel whole again. But his mother feels nothing but disgust when she finds out about the frog and just wants him gone. Then when Jeffery finds a strange shop that sells books of the occult, things start to go from bad to worse for everyone, or maybe not for everyone. (featuring the monstrous vocal talents of Ted Huggins).

The year is 2116 and medicine has evolved to the point where brain transplants are now commonplace. And William, a husband and father who is dying with brain cancer, has an appointment to swap his brain with another healthier brain in the efforts to save his life. At first, the operation appears to be a success. But then William starts to have visions, then blackouts. Loosing time while increasingly terrible things happen around him, then he realises that the more time he looses, the more he looses himself.

In this H.P Lovecraft classic, we listen to a story told by a nameless figure. A story about a certain strange man called Arthur Jermyn. As the title suggests, we listen to the life of this Arthur Jermyn and the peculiarities of both himself and his family. We hear about the family members and their strange unique obsessions with Gods and amazing mystical artefacts located far within the jungles of Africa. The conclusion to Jakob Chapman's "Observation". Mik attends his second Observation experiment and is sent to another world, his mind his own, but in a foreign body. His interactions with the planet organisms soon prove hostile, and things only get more horrific when Mik suddenly wakes up outside his girlfriend Kessy's apartment carrying an itch inside him that is hidden from the world, until it is too late. While Mik's life and mind continues to spiral out of control, the doctors in charge of the experiment, are getting exactly what they want. And they want more.

"Observation" tells the story of a man called Mik, who volunteers to take part for the second time, in an incredible experiment which takes a persons consciousness and sends it across the solar system to different worlds. To observe the universe and prove humanity is not alone. But with some unpleasant side effects. Although Mik is drawn by a sense of duty to serve for the betterment of science and the exploration of space, his relationship with his girlfriend Kessy is falling apart as she tries exhaustingly to talk him out of it, telling him that the second Observation will most surely kill him. But Mik is firm with his decision, oblivious to what lies ahead, set by the ones in charge who's motivations are more sinister than science.

Today I sit and chat with David Holmes. A voiceover artist who featured as the special guest narrator for Episode 23's "The Terrible Old Man" by H.P Lovecraft. We talk about a lot of things me and David. From his previous career as a theatre lighting designer, to his humble voiceover beginnings as a virtual Glaswegian Toad. From talking about his valuable 3 P's lesson for novice VO's, to his appreciation with vintage pencil sharpeners. There are even some pigeons in there somewhere. It even gets to a point where we're  just blurting out celebrity voice impressions that we either can or can't do, so needless to say, we laugh a lot during this conversation. But with nearly every laugh shared, David always has a lesson to share, so you can learn something as well as laugh at something. This is the longest conversation episode so far on the Cryo Pod Tapes and just might be the funniest one too.

In this Conversation Episode, I sit and chat with fellow voiceover artist and my friend, Brad Shaw. Brad has been in the creative industries all his life and has had experience as a theatre actor, a show reel producer, a murder mystery facilitator and of course, a voiceover artist. As well as delving into Brad's colourful career, we hear the story of how he created his VO training platform, Wonderland VO. Which started out as an audiobook project of Alice in Wonderland, in support of the NHS during the first Covid lockdown. "Hole" is a short story written in the over-the-shoulder perceptive with the story telling you what is happening, as if you, the reader, is the one experiencing what is happening in the story. In this story, a perfectly black, circular hole has appeared on the floor of your Livingroom. Your immense curiosity needs to know. Why is it there? How did it get there? And most importantly, where does it leads to? But what you may find at the end of the tunnel, might make you wish you never did.
