In 2024, Matthew and Kathryn Restelli were living together on a seven-acre property in Aguanga, about eighteen miles east of Temecula, California. The couple had been married for about seven and a half years, but the marriage had started to fall apart around 2020. Kathryn decided to take the kids to her mom Tracey Grist's home in American Fork, Utah. She took the kids there without asking her husband, and that caused further friction.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Matthew Restelli. Matthew was found shot to death in his mother-in-law's home; it appeared as though he had broken into the house to get his kids back. However, authorities noticed some signs that led them to believe that everything was not as it seemed. And as the investigation unfolded, Kathryn and her family became the primary focus of investigators.

In 1976, 3 armed men kidnapped a bus full of kids in Chowchilla, California. Along with their bus driver, Ed Ray, the kids were in for a harrowing experience. But the kidnappings for ransom did not go as the kidnappers had planned.

In June 2008, Travis Alexander was discovered dead inside his bathroom. He was scheduled to leave the next day to meet up with friends for a vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Almost immediately, Travis's friends started pointing the finger at one person, his ex-girlfriend Jodi Arias.

The Colonial Parkway Murders is a series of murders & presumed murders of couples that occurred on or near  Virginia's Colonial Parkway from 1986 to 1989. In all, three couples were found murdered, and one couple was never found at all, and they are presumed to have been murdered.

In 1989, Amy Mihaljevic failed to return home from school to her Bay Village, Ohio, home. Amy's mother, Margaret, had started to worry after Amy's brother said she wasn't home. Margaret received a call from Amy and felt she was safe, but her concern returned when she arrived home to find out Amy wasn't there.

But sadly, her body was found in a farmer's field over three months after she disappeared. Police discovered during the investigation that Amy had been contacted by a man who said he would help Amy get a present for her mother to celebrate a promotion.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard's illnesses began when she was an infant. Her mother, DeeDee Blanchard, took her to the hospital often for a variety of symptoms. DeeDee told her daughter that she suffered from various diseases. All of this turned out to be a lie.

In 1977, at the age of 2, Nikole Betterson was involved in a car accident in Michigan with her mom and dad that killed her mom, Susan Klingel. Nikole's dad, Jarrett Betterson, showed up at Nikole's maternal grandparents just a few months later with another woman and claimed they were moving out west.

The private investigator found no evidence of Nikole after early 1978. This started an investigation that saw a number of strange events but no definitive answers about what happened to Nikole.

In 1996, Mary Kay Letourneau, a 34-year-old teacher and married mother, began an illicit and illegal relationship with her 12-year-old student, Villi Fualaau. It became one of the most high-profile, most covered, and most talked about cases of the time.

The Honolulu Strangler case is a series with multiple victims, all clearly linked to one killer. The term "serial killer" had first been used less than one decade before these murders began, so it really didn't take long for the Aloha state to have one of its own.

Leonard Lake and Charles Ng are among the most infamous duos in the annals of true crime. They murdered indiscriminately and abducted, raped, and tortured women in a specially built underground bunker.

In 2019, forty-three-year-old Christine Holloway was living in an apartment in Ansonia, about ten miles west of New Haven, Connecticut. She was dating a man named Jose Morales. The couple had one child together, a fourteen-month-old daughter named Vanessa, who lived with Christine.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Christine Holloway and Vanessa Morales. On December 2nd, 2019, Christine didn't show up to her job and co-workers and her family asked for a welfare check. The police found a gruesome scene inside her apartment, and Christine was found dead in her bathtub. But there was no sign of Vanessa, and Jose Morales became the prime suspect in Christine's death.

On July 18th, 2014, 41-year-old Dan Markel was stalked and killed inside the garage of his Tallahassee, Florida home. There were very few clues early on in the investigation, but someone had seen a green Toyota Prius in the area. The authorities were certain Dan had been targeted for murder.

On August 27, 1992, 13-year-old Leigh Occhi went missing from her home in Tupelo, Mississippi. Leigh lived in the home with her mother, Vickie. It was summer break, and this was Leigh's first day to stay home alone.

In 1983, Diane Downs shot her three children and blamed it on someone who wanted to steal her car. Diane had a superficial gunshot wound to her arm as she pulled her car into the ambulance bay of a hospital in Springfield, Oregon. She told hospital staff and later law enforcement that a shaggy-haired man had shot them while attempting to steal her car. One of Diane's daughters was pronounced dead at the hospital, while her other two children lived but suffered significant life-changing injuries.

The blood evidence also contradicted her stories. At trial, Diane's oldest daughter had recovered to the point where she could speak, and she told the packed courtroom that it was her mom who shot them. In 2022, 17-year-old Riley Whitelaw was murdered by her co-worker, 28-year-old Joshua Johnson, in the breakroom of the Walgreens where they worked. Riley had been harassed by Joshua and had made complaints to management. For a time, the two worked different schedules. But, to get more hours, Riley had to be on the schedule with Johnson.

Timothy Bliefnick murdered his wife Rebecca after appearing on the game show The Family Feud. The murder occurred a couple of years later, but one answer Timothy gave on the show was very telling. It provided a glimpse into the marriage and foreshadowed its ending.

In 1980, Charles and Catherine Romer disappeared on their way from Florida back home to New York. The Romers were snowbirds finishing the winter in Florida and heading back home. The police know they arrived at the Holiday Inn in Brunswick City, GA, to check-in. Housekeeping alerted management after it looked like the room had not been slept in for several days, and the Romers were due to have already checked out.

On February 21st, 2001, 22-year-old Ashley Ellerin was stabbed to death in her Los Angeles home. The tabloids covered the murder because actor Ashton Kutcher was set to have a first date with Ashley that night. He ran late at a Grammy's party, and he said that by the time he got to Ashley's house, she didn't answer the door.

Lucy Letby is one of England's most notorious female killers. In 2015, infants began dying in the NICU at an alarming rate at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, Chesire, England. It was like nothing the hospital had experienced before or since. Nurse Lucy Letby was making infants sick, and many of them died.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the notorious Lucy Letby. Even though people voiced their suspicions to upper management at the hospital, nothing was done, and more infants died. When the details of what happened came out, the public was shocked and disgusted. Letby was convicted but continues claiming she is innocent, so she has never revealed her true motivations. In 2016, eight members of the Rhoden family were murdered at multiple residences. The crime scenes were all discovered on the same day, April 22nd, 2016. These murders shocked the residents of Pike County, which is in a rural part of Ohio. They also drew the attention of online sleuths who poured over the details of the murders while awaiting the murders to be solved.

The press gave several monikers to these murders, including The Rhoden Family Massacre, The Piketon Massacre, and the Pike County Massacre. The police initially thought the murders could be drug-related because some members of the family were growing marijuana. But, in the end, it turned out the murders were committed by people known to the Rhodens who were trying to get rid of a very specific problem.

In the winter of 2015, 19-year-old Katelin Akens flew from Arizona back home to Virginia to visit family. She was excited because her sister Gabi had given birth to a baby boy named Landon. Katelin also caught up with some friends, and one encounter turned intimate even though Kateline had a fiancé waiting for her back in Arizona.

Someone has been arrested in the 1993 abduction and murder of 12-year-old Jennifer Odom. Jennifer went missing after getting off the school bus near her Saint Joseph, Florida home. The only real lead that police had to go on was the sighting of a light blue pickup truck that people saw following Jennifer that day.

H.H. Holmes is often referred to as America's first serial killer. He became fascinated as a child with death and later studied medicine in college. Holmes didn't make all of his money legally. He used arson to con insurance companies and cadavers to collect life insurance. It seems that he began killing mainly to cover up his crimes.

On April 15th, 1987, seventeen-year-old Martha Leanne Green, who usually went by Leanne, vanished from White Bluff, TN.  At the time, she and her twin brother, Lawson, were on their way home when they ran out of gas.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the disappearance of Leanne Green. A family stopped by and took Lawson to get some gas, but, for some reason, Leanne wanted to stay in the car. When Lawson got back to the car with the gas, Leanne was gone.

On Friday, July 14th, 2023, 59-year-old Rex Andrew Heuermann was arrested for several unsolved murders. Heuermann has so far been charged with three murders. But, these murders are part of a cold case or a set of cold cases commonly referred to as the Gilgo Beach murders, the Long Island Serial Killer, or LISK for short.

The evidence against Rex Heuermann for the three murders appears on the surface to be very solid. But there are a lot of questions to answer, even after his guilt or innocence is decided. In 2019, Elizabeth Barraza was gunned down in front of her home in the early morning of January 25th. The whole thing was captured on the Barraza's doorbell camera with audio and video. Despite this, there have been no arrests in the case.

Steven Pladl murdered his wife, Katie, their son Bennett, and Katie's father, Anthony Fusco. This story made the headlines because Katie was not just Steven's second wife; she was also his biological daughter. Steven and his first wife, Alyssa, put Katie up for adoption when she was just a baby.

In 2017, Alisa Summers and her five children went through a harrowing ordeal. What made it even worse was that the entire thing was set into motion and then perpetrated by Alisa's husband, Trevor Summers. The two had been married for 15 years but were going through a divorce.

In 2015, Tiffany Valiante died in what many consider to be a very mysterious way. Just after 11:00 PM, Tiffany was struck by a train and killed in Southern New Jersey. The authorities ruled it a suicide, but Tiffany's family does not believe that to be true.

In July 2021, 50 yr old Bart Halderson and his 53 yr old wife Krista Halderson of Windsor, Wisconsin, disappeared. They were later found murdered. People who knew them were shocked that anyone would want to hurt the couple. But they were even more shocked to find out who was responsible.

In 1974, 14-year-old Margaret Fox disappeared in New Jersey. She was set to meet a man named John Marshall, who was looking for someone to watch his 5-year-old son. This man had responded to an ad that Margaret and her cousin Lynne had placed in the paper. Margaret made it to the bus stop where this man was supposed to pick her up, but she was never heard from or seen again.

They believed that she was the victim of foul play. The investigation stalled after police couldn't locate a John Marshall, and they discovered that the number Margaret had written down came from a pay phone.

11-year-old Gannon Stauch went missing in 2020 in Colorado. His stepmother, Leticia, was the last person known to have seen him, and as the community searched for Gannon, they also offered support to Leticia. But, she told a number of different stories to the authorities that made them suspicious of her.

In 1980, wife and mother Betty Gore was murdered in Texas. It was an especially brutal murder caused by many blows from an axe. Initially, police believed that it must have been a man who murdered Betty because of the vicious nature of the crime. But, the evidence started to point to a woman. The sensational nature of the case has led to numerous television series over the years.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the murder of Betty Gore. Suspicion in Betty's death soon fell on her friend Candy Montgomery. It came out that Candy had visited Betty that day and that Candy had an affair with Betty's husband, Allan. The prosecution thought they had a pretty airtight case against Candy Montgomery. Candy admitted to killing Betty but said she did so in self-defense. It would be up to the jury to decide Candy's fate.

On September 10th, 1988, Cynthia and David Dowaliby woke up to find their daughter Jaclyn missing from the house. The local police, as well as the FBI, started an investigation. They originally thought that the Dowalibys might receive a ransom demand from a kidnapper. But, suspicion soon turned to David and Cynthia.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the case of Jaclyn Dowaliby. Sadly, 7-year-old Jaclyn's body was found just days later. The Dowaliby family was in a nightmarish situation, and things continued to spiral downward. Just months after Jaclyn was murdered, David and Cynthia were arrested and charged with her murder.

In March 2011, two women who worked at a Lululemon store were attacked, and one was killed. Police arrived to find 30-year-old Jayna Murray dead, with over 300 injuries, and 29-year-old Brittany Norwood wounded but still alive. Police found size 14 bloody shoe prints around the store, and the money was missing from the safe.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss what has become known as the Lululemon murder because it occurred in a Lululemon store. Brittany Norwood told the police that two men came into the store after hours and attacked her and Jayna. She gave them somewhat of a description, but it was tough because they were wearing all black and had their faces covered. But Brittany soon went from a sympathetic survivor to the prime suspect after the police found evidence and holes in her story.
