| Ryder Belisle: When Custody Became a Medical Crisis | 06 Feb 2026 | 00:57:05 | |
Ryder was a medically fragile child living with Sanfilippo Syndrome Type IIIB, a rare and terminal neurological disease that required constant specialized care. For years, his survival depended on strict medical routines, equipment management, and a caregiver trained to respond to emergencies. Then a custody battle moved his case from hospital rooms into courtrooms, where legal procedure began to outweigh medical warnings.
In this episode, we examine the timeline of court decisions, ignored medical directives, and the devastating consequences that followed. This is not a mystery of who did it. It is a case that raises difficult questions about how family courts handle medically fragile children, what happens when expert medical advice is sidelined, and whether systems meant to protect can sometimes fail the very people they are designed to serve.
This episode contains discussion of severe childhood illness and death. Listener discretion is advised.

| Daniel Morcombe Case Explained | Child Abduction in Australia | 31 Jan 2026 | 00:49:34 | |
On December 7, 2003, 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe disappeared while waiting for a bus beneath the Kiel Mountain Road overpass on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. What should have been a routine trip to Sunshine Plaza became one of the largest missing child investigations in Queensland history, spanning years of public tips, shifting timelines, and missed opportunities.
In this episode of Crime Salad, Ashley and Ricky trace Daniel’s final known movements, the early police response, the flood of leads that overwhelmed investigators, and the long road to answers. Eight years later, an extraordinary undercover police operation finally drew out a confession from convicted child sex offender Brett Peter Cowan and led detectives to Daniel’s remains. Cowan was later convicted of murder, indecent treatment of a child, and interfering with a corpse.
We also examine the lasting impact of Daniel’s case, including major procedural reforms in Queensland and the ongoing work of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to promote child safety education.

| Teresa “Terry” Peroni: Missing 1983. Found 1997. Identified 2024. | 08 Nov 2025 | 00:50:29 | |
In the summer of 1983, 27-year-old Teresa “Terry” Peroni disappeared from a remote counterculture community in rural Oregon. For years, rumors circulated about communes, drugs, and the controlling man she had last been seen with. Her family searched, asked questions, and followed every lead, but Terry’s trail went cold. Her name slowly faded from public memory.
In 1997, human remains were discovered in the Oregon wilderness, but they were never linked to Terry. It wasn’t until 2024, more than four decades after she vanished, that new forensic technology finally confirmed the truth. Her remains were identified. The case was reopened. And the man long suspected in her disappearance was arrested across state lines.
This episode follows Terry’s journey for independence, the dangerous world she stepped into, the failures that allowed her case to go cold, and the small group of people who refused to let her story be forgotten.

| Throwback for DVAM- Covid Alibi - Gretchen Anthony | 04 Oct 2023 | 00:42:13 | |
It's DVAM (Domestic Abuse Awareness Month) this October, so we have a throwback for you this week.
In March of 2020, Gretchen Anthony began sending texts to family and friends telling them she had tested positive for Covid-19. There was still so much unknown about the virus as the entire world began shutting down. Her family became highly concerned when they couldn’t get her on the phone. Many of the texts from Gretchen were filled with poor spelling and grammar. Then she stopped sharing her phone location with her 12 year old daughter. The last text anyone received from Gretchen said she was being transferred to a CDC covid site and would be placed on a ventilator, unable to communicate. After a welfare check at her home by law enforcement, it became clear that someone was using Covid as an alibi to cover up a horrific crime.
Join us as we retell this story on Crime Salad where we examine a mind unraveling into paranoia ending in a senseless death of a beloved, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Friend, Gretchen Anthony.

| The Cleveland Strangler - Anthony Sowell Part 2 | 05 Apr 2023 | 00:33:11 | |
The conclusion to the Cleveland Strangler. Anthony Sowell is a serial killer who was active in the Cleveland, Ohio area between 2007 and 2009. Sowell was arrested in 2009 after the police discovered the remains of eleven women in and around his house on Imperial Avenue in Cleveland. The victims of Sowell's crimes were predominantly African-American women who were vulnerable and had struggled with addiction and poverty. Sowell targeted these women, many of who were sex workers, and lured them to his home under false pretenses before assaulting, raping, and strangling them. He then buried their bodies in and around his property, where they remained hidden for months and years. Sowell's crimes were significant due to their gruesome nature, the high number of victims, and the fact that they took place over an extended period of time without being detected by law enforcement. The case drew widespread attention from the media and the public, highlighting the issues of poverty, addiction, and violence against vulnerable women. Support us! Want ad free listening? | How to Murder Your Husband - Nancy Brophy | 25 Jan 2023 | 00:34:15
Join us on the next episode of Crime Salad where we explore a case of life imitating art. Romance Writer Nancy Brophy wrote an essay on how to get away with murdering your husband. By all accounts, she was happily married to chef Daniel Brophy at the time. But then Dan who worked as a Chef at the Oregon Culinary Institute as an instructor was found murdered by one of his students. Later surveillance cameras would show Nancy's van circling the crime scene while she told police she was still in bed. After being arrested she conveniently couldn't remember what happened during the hour she drove around the murder scene. She chalked up her inconsistencies to shock. However, at the time of her Trial, she testified that she was sure she couldn't have murdered her husband based on the feelings in her heart. Support us! Want ad free listening? | Introducing COLD: The Search for Sheree | 09 Jan 2023 | 00:11:48
Sheree Warren left her job in Salt Lake City on a mild October evening in 1985. She told a coworker she was headed to meet her estranged husband, Charles Warren, at a car dealership. But she never made it, Sheree vanished. When her car mysteriously surfaced weeks later, hundreds of miles away in Las Vegas, no one could say how it got there.
When a young mother disappears under unexplained circumstances, police always turn suspicious eyes towards the husband. And although there was distrust around Charles Warren, he wasn't the only suspect when Sheree went missing. She also had a boyfriend, a former cop named Cary Hartmann, who lived a sinister double life.
Season three follows two suspects- men who both raised suspicion for investigators. But with two strong persons of interest with competing facts and evidence, it muddied the murder investigation. This season, host Dave Cawley, digs into the lives of these two men, the details of the case and examines the intersections between domestic abuse and sexual violence. The COLD team seeks to answer the question: what really happened to Sheree Warren?
