• High video count doesn’t always equate to higher earnings, especially if the products are not in demand.

• Diversify Income Streams:
• Selling Free Products: Leveraging free products received from suppliers by selling them on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or eBay.
• Paid Video Reviews: Negotiating payment for video reviews, even if commissions are low.
• Licensing Content to Brands: Potentially earning $500 or more by licensing video content to brands for a limited period.
• Creator Connections:
• Get more free products and better deals.

Advice for New AIP Participants

• Getting Started:
• TikTok as a Gateway: TikTok is currently the most reliable platform for gaining entry into AIP.
• Avoid Common Pitfalls:
• Don’t mention Amazon directly in videos to avoid rejection.
• Focus on engagement rather than follower count.
• Three-Video Requirement:
• After you get in for the first level, make sure to go here: https://www.amazon.com/creatorhub/.
• You'll see that you'll need to upload 3 videos and that there's still a lock for on-site placement.
• Once you upload the videos and they are approved, then you'll receive a welcome message and the lock will disappear.
• Remember, if you get rejected, it may not be the videos. It could be your social media account.

• Jim and Andrew discuss lower sales numbers recently on Amazon, likely due to changes with the bottom carousel not showing for all users. This makes predicting future sales difficult.
• They talk about wanting to be the top video on the top carousel since that gets played first and most prominently. However, there's no clear way to control that placement.
• In terms of adapting to lower sales as the "new normal," Jim says he would keep making videos as that seems directly tied to higher earnings. Andrew is less motivated to make more videos if the return diminishes.
• They discuss considering incorporating better thumbnails and titles to try increasing clicks and conversions, which may lead to staying on the carousel longer. This could be tested by redoing some existing videos.
• The video creation skills from Amazon influencing could transfer to platforms like TikTok and YouTube. But significantly more effort is likely needed to gain traction there.
• Having an encouraging community helps motivate during discouraging periods. The Facebook group Side Hustle Heroes HQ provides this.
• Developing multiple income streams is advisable so you aren't solely dependent on unpredictable Amazon sales. Though the platform remains profitable overall if approached wisely.

• That likely means AIP isn't going anywhere anytime soon!
• TikTok has a new program where companies put up bounties for users to create authentic reviews/ads. Users can make $30-50 per video. Great opportunity.
• Walmart has an influencer program now too. Likely only a matter of time before they add video reviews to product pages like Amazon.
• Reminder to make sure you are looking at the right account dashboard on Amazon to track your earnings - some people accidentally look at the regular Associates account instead of the Influencer account.
• Jim is now getting paid directly by some suppliers to create Amazon review videos, up to $20 per video. Very profitable when you can create videos quickly.

Welcome to the Side Hustle Heroes HQ Podcast!

What do we really mean by side hustle heroes? We've never really mentioned this, but we aren't suggesting we are the heroes. I know this might sound cheesy, but it is really you guys the listeners and those we are helping to be successful. You are the real heroes and why we are doing this podcast in the first place.

• Money, Success, Quit your day job, More time with family etc.
• I'm not here to preach about what you should do, but for me, work life balance is critical. If I alienate my friends and family, then none of this is worth it!

The content of your social media account connected to your Influencer account could impact your chances to get approved for stage 2 - the video stage, even if you get auto-approved initially.

• Amazon was mentioned on his social media in this case. 
• Cody getting in with a TikTok page - ran some ads and didn't get a lot of followers but did get quick a few likes.

• The easiest way to grow a page - many have done this and in just a few days

• Step 1- re-purpose an old FB page if you already have one that you started in the past
• If you don't have one, then start from scratch - do something related to a hobby or just real basic like Andrew's finds.
• Step 2 - Find a viral product video on TikTok, YouTube, and do something similar if you don't already have your own video that you can use. You could download one if you'd like, but that is a gray area as far as I'm concerned.
• Step 3 - Run an engagement ad on FB, optimize for page likes, not difficult at all. Run for $25 a day. I'll include a video in our Facebook Group showing you the details - posted in our podcast notes.
• Step 4 - keep it running until you get 2,000 likes, then ask for approval.

• We continue to see those we are coaching make these mistakes - so we're going to keep pounding these things in.

• Not covering all areas of a good video
• Overall intro of product - Why bought it/using it
• Likes/Dislikes
• Demonstrating how works / tips for using
• talk about personal experience with
• Summarize and conclusion
• Product is too far away from the camera
• Sound is poor - usually because they are too far from microphone - get a lapel mic where the transponder goes into your phone - we'll put a link in the show notes
• Lots of ums, uhs, filler language - invest in some video editing software to fix it
• Making first three videos too long - get in and out - you don't have to cover everything

• Finally, I want to touch on the fact that many people just quit when they are so close because they hit an obstacle, i.e. getting stuck at various stages of approval, you need to push past. I have some friends that can't even get started with step 1 - which is listening to our podcast - wink wink!

• Better not to say "I recommend this product". Better to say, "I hope this review was helpful".
• Let them know why you are using the product
• Let them know how long you've owned the product. That can be important if people are concerned that it doesn't last.
• Outside of the video - seems like with new accounts - if they don't look like you have many posts - even after being auto-accepted it may still trip you up. Keep posting on a new page even after you've been accepted

1. What's been going on the last week

• Updates on earnings

• Really busy last week, but did get a nice review for a really expensive camera that we use at work
• Always be looking for opps to find new products to review

2. Wrapping up what to do when products fall off a listing

• Remove original and upload the same exact one - not recommended
• Change the thumbnail and title and upload the same video - not recommended
• Shorten the original with editing software solution
• Do a new video with a new angle - recommended
• Example - specific use for product that wasn't mentioned before - any examples
• Answering a specific question from Q and A on Amazon listing
• As Jim Ed mentioned last week, you may not always get back on the listing, but it is worth a try for a lucrative product

3. Getting auto-approved for the first level of approvals for Amazon Influencer

• Overall - a page that is older than 6 months old is ideal.
• For FB needs to be a business page, Instagram/TikTok could be your own personal account (I believe), not necessarily a business account, but that is ideal for sure.
• It appears that Amazon is looking for a combination of number of followers and engagement
• If it is an old page, make sure you have some new content on it.

Platforms - advantages and disadvantages

Facebook

• Not certain of magic number, but should be over 2K for sure
• Not easy to organically get new page likes
• But easy to run ads to the page to grow likes
• Great tip - find a viral product video and do your own version and run ads
• Run an ad globally not just US - cheaper traffic

Instagram

• Not certain of magic number, but should be over 2K also
• Easier to get followers just by following other accounts that fit follow similar accounts (e.g. dog niche - follow those who like other dog posts/accounts - a certain percentage will follow you back
• Not really great for running ads
• Easier to get engagement on posts that FB from what I've seen

TikTok

• Looks like number of followers is insignificant and people are getting in with much fewer followers than other platforms, but also getting rejected with way more
• Engagement is likely more critical with TikTok, but not for sure

YouTube

• Jim Ed got in with his account, but I haven't heard about any others here.

Overall recommendations:

• If you have multiple accounts already - apply with both first
• If you are starting from scratch - go with Facebook at least (run ads) and either Instagram/TikTok
• Subject matter - doesn't seem to matter much
• Could be something very specific to Amazon product reviews like Andrew's product finds, for example
• Or if you have expertise in a nice like kayaking, fishing, fitness, etc. you may do something around this

4. Getting free products from other companies

• Why are they reaching out?
• How does this work?
• Best practices?
• Try to get paid at least $10 or so for low-priced products
• Don't take on too many products
• Make sure the price-point is high enough to make it worth your time
• Usually it is a good idea to take on products that are already selling

What is the Amazon Influencer program:

• The Amazon Influencer Program is one of the easiest ways to make money we've ever seen.

• Amazon Associates - been around a long time. The best feature about this is fairly new, which is called on site placement.

• You have a store front where you upload videos, if approved, these videos most of the will be placed on Amazon product listings

What is so special about this?

• With most social - it can be really hard to get consistent traffic, up hill battle.
• With this aspect of Amazon Influencer - Amazon drives consistent traffic to their listings.
• When your video is on the listing - you are naturally going to get traffic to your video

Getting started:

• Google search Amazon Influencer program
• You need to have a social media presence - Amazon doesn't give you the exact numbers of how many followers you have or what engagement you should have.
• Ideally you already have an account - even one you haven't used for a while
• If not, get one up as soon as you can - as account age is definitely a factor
• If you do get approved, it is immediate - this is the first level which just gets you into the Amazon Influencer program - not on-site placement
• Next step is uploading 3 videos - takes a few weeks for approval
• Videos are basic reviews of products around your house

Guidelines

• Horizontal video
• Talk about the positives and any negatives of product
• 1-2 minutes
• Good audio
• Not a lot of distracting background

• My last 30 days I made $509.25, my highest day has been $42.16 on May 11th. My last 7 days I made $177.23.

Jim Ed:
