After Boston police officer John O’Keefe was found dead on a front lawn in January 2022, his girlfriend, Karen Read, was arrested. At her 2024 trial, prosecutors accused Karen of hitting John with her car and then leaving him to die in the cold. In July 2014, Dan Markel, an FSU law professor, was gunned down in his driveway in Tallahassee, Florida. The investigation led police to the discovery of a nasty divorce, wealthy former in-laws, and a murder-for-hire so complex that the investigation continues to this day. 

Back in Episode 93, I covered the trial of two of the defendants - Sigfredo Garcia and Katherine Magbanua. While Sigfredo was convicted, the jury couldn’t decide on Katherine’s involvement. In this episode, Katherine goes to trial again, and this time, more evidence and more allegations, surface.

After Boston police officer John O’Keefe was found dead on a front lawn in January 2022, his girlfriend, Karen Read, was arrested. At her 2024 trial, prosecutors accused Karen of hitting John with her car and then leaving him to die in the cold. In December 2012, officers in Arlington Heights, Illinois, started looking into a cold case involving a suspect named Donnie Rudd. One cold case led to another, and the shocking discovery that Donnie may have murdered multiple people as he walked free for 45 years.
