This is a psalm of great joy in the Salvation of the Lord.

"O Lord the king will delight in Your strength, And in Your salvation how greatly will he rejoice!"

Psalm 20 is a prayer of the Lord's attention to the cry of our hearts, fulfilling our heart's request and strengthening us out of Zion.

Also a declaration that our hope should ALWAYS be in the Lord: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 19 adores the perfect magnificence of God in the works of His hands. It describes the firmament and how the creation speaks of his glory without having to utter a word!

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Its a psalm of the soverign reign of God and God our saviour where King David cries out to God

"I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, So shall I be saved from my enemies"

For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.

In this Psalm, King David cries out to God for vengeance and vindication from the enemies that surrounded him. He asks the Lord to attend to his prayer.

In this Psalm, King David pours out his heart to God, as God is acknowledged as the only source, his inheritance and the one from whom good comes from.

"O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot"

Welcome back to the study of the Psalms. It's a great pleasure to have you here again after a while. I'm exciied to continue the journey of the Psalms as we go through the live of King David and the believer through the lens of the book.

Psalms 15 contains the characteristics of those who will dwell with the Lord on mount Zion, the Lord's holy hill. It is those who does righteousnes, and speaks the truth in their heart. Who do not backbite with their tongue, or does evil to their neighbor. Nor takes up a reproach against a friend. He who swears to his own hurt and does not change.

Those who do these will NOT be moved.

The fool says in His heart that there is no God, but God is with the consistently righteous generation. King David raises a cry: 'O that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!' Where is Zion? It is the city of the living God, a place of rest, refuge and holiness.

When the Lord brings back the captivity of His people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad!

Do times come when you are weak and troubled? Tired of the situation around you? King David came to that point too and in this psalm, he pleads for mercy. After expressing his sorrow before God, David concludes the psalm with declarations of trust and dependence upon God.

This Psalm is a cry for help from the evil and wickedness of men. Kind David laments that the faithful disappear quickly from the earth. The Lord will cut off flattering lips and acquit the righteous.

He also praises the word of God! The word of the Lord is like silver tried in the furnace, purified seven times. God's word is true, tested and reliable!

Psalms 11 is a declaration of utmost trust and dependence on God. Kind David says: 'In the Lord, I take refuge'. Also, in the same breath, he reminds us that the Lord tests the righteous but is against the wicked.

The Upright in heart will see His face!

Amen

Psalm 10 is a song of confidence in God's victory over evil. It says: Arise O Lord, lift up your hand. Do not forget the humble. You are a God who gives justice to the fartherless and the oppressed. You are a helper to the fatherless.

Psalm 9 is praise for God's righteous judgments. The Lord is known to be a refuge in times of trouble.

Arise O Lord, let not man prevail. Let the nations be judged at your sight. Put them in fear, that the nations may know themselves to be but men.

How magnificient is the name of the Lord in all the earth. He has commanded strength to come out of the mouth of babes in order to shame the very enemies of God. God has also crowned us with His glory and majesty, and has given us dominion over the works of His hands. ALL things has been put under our feet.

Do we believe this?

Psalm 7 is a cry for justice against the evil of the wicked against us. It is a prayer for deliverance. King David said, my defence is of God who vindicates the righteous, God is a righteous judge. He is one who defends those who trust in Him.

Do you believe God is a righteous defence attorney?

This Psalm is a prayer of faith in time of distress. It is also a cry for mercy in times of trouble. Be assured that in times of distress, the Lord hears your plea for grace. Remember He gives grace to the humble. Learn also to give thanks to God in all circumstances.

Amen!

Psalms 5 is a cry for help. David again asks the Lord to listen to the voice of his cry which he would lift up to God in the morning. He arose as Jesus did at a time of the day with minimal distractions to seek the Lord's face.

Let all those who put their trust in you rejoice. Let them shout for joy and be glad in you.

Amen!

Psalm 4 is a prayer of trust in God. King David prayed: 'Lord answer me when I call. Be gracious to me.' Lift up the light of your countenance upon me and show me your favour!

The Lord has set apart the godly for himself. They are His.

Praise God!

Some people look at the circumstances of the righteous and say concerning them: 'there is no help for them in God'. In spite of this, King David had a deep seated confidence that God would hear him and rescue him from his situation.

You O Lord are our shield for me, my glory and the one who lifts my head up!

Why do the nations rage and the people imagine a vain plot against the Lord and against the Lord's anointed? The question is can anyone battle against the Lord? Scripture says touch not my anointed and do my prophets NO harm. No wander He who sits in heaven laughs at the folly of the plotters because no one can stand against the Lord!

Be blessed as you listen!

This psalm descibes the blessedness of the one who does not stand along sinners, or hangs around mockers, but who delights in the word of the Lord. Do you delight in His law? Are you passionate about what God is passionale about? Psalm one says you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, continually receiving nourishment from the vine and whatever you do will prosper exceedingly
