| The Power of Pilgrimage with Jason Holley | 15 Nov 2024 | 01:30:09 | |
Pilgrimage is a profound way to travel in honor of the sacred and liminal. In this podcast episode, astrologers Alicia Cielle Heiser and Lori Kaufman chat with our teacher Jason Holley about a pilgrimage to Greece that he recently organized in which we participated. We discuss the importance of being in relationship with land, deities, animals and humans to move into generative ways of being rather than relying on extraction. We also dig into the power of myth and give suggestions to listeners for ways to engage in pilgrimage without having to leave your home. Jason has an evocative and poetic way of describing things and we think you'll really enjoy this episode with him! Tyson Yunkaporta's model for interaction: In this order: Respect, Connect, Reflect, Direct From Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta Jason also mentioned Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer which is one of Alicia's absolute favorite books. | Essential Dignity 7: Mutual Reception | 01 Nov 2024 | 00:27:44 | |
Just like staying at your buddy's place can be nicer than staying in a rental hosted by a stranger, having planets in mutual reception with each other can provide support and resourcing that can strengthen the condition of a planet. In this podcast episode, astrologers Alicia Cielle Heiser @aliciacielle and Lori Kaufman @lorik_127 discuss mutual reception in a birth chart. We go over how to identify and interpret planets in mutual reception. We also discuss the nuance of whether mutual reception counts if the planets are in aversion to each other. NOTE: Alicia was thinking on the fly in this episode trying to come up with an example of two exalted planets being in mutual reception. She used the Sun in Aries and Mars in Capricorn as an example, which is NOT a form of mutual reception as Mars in Capricorn is not in the sign ruled by the Sun (Leo). In fact, it is impossible to have two exalted planets in mutual reception, which is why Alicia couldn't think of an example off the cuff in the episode... MORE ESSENTIAL DIGNITY EPISODES:

| A Simple, Potent and Ancient Technique - Sect in Astrology | 22 Mar 2024 | 00:39:55 | |
Were you born during the day or night? This simple distinction can have a big influence on how your birth chart and life unfold. Do you embody a more solar or lunar way of being, and how does that show up in your life? Is Jupiter your greatest helper, or do you vibe more to the rhythms of Venus? Sect is a central technique in ancient Hellenistic astrology and a very simple approach that you can start integrating into your astrological toolkit right now. How to determine the sect of your birth chart: first, find the ascendant - this is where the horizon was when you were born. Then, look for the Sun in your birth chart. If it is above the horizon, you have a day chart and the Sun was visible when you were born. If the Sun is below the ascendant/descendant axis then you have a night chart.

| Tropical and Sidereal Zodiac: Why We Need Both | 03 Jul 2025 | 01:10:01 | |
So often, the conversation around the tropical and sidereal zodiac is framed as an either/or debate about which zodiac is "better." In this podcast episode, Lori Kaufman and Alicia Cielle Heiser are joined by fellow astrologer Cameron Cassidy to discuss the importance of using BOTH the sidereal and tropical zodiac. We go over the philosophical differences underpinning each zodiac, as well as the constellational zodiac, to demonstrate the value that each system gives to astrological interpretations. We answer common questions such as which house system to use, and how to incorporate each zodiac with the astrology techniques you use. This episode is an invitation to think about each zodiac system in a both/and orientation that allows ample space for nuance and complexity. Cam is so fun to chat with and we really hope you enjoy this conversation! WHERE TO FIND US:

Asteroids can be a profound tool for making sense out of complicated and difficult life stories. This episode explores how the asteroids Horus and Seth show up in the astrology charts of multiple people interviewed and mentioned in the Quiet on Set documentary. While we do briefly mention the chart of Amanda Bynes, we are intentional not to dig too deep into conjectures about her personal life as she has made it clear she greatly values her privacy. We encourage everyone to be respectful of celebrities and public figures when using astrology. Our birth charts are windows into our souls and it is important to honor everyone's right to privacy, regardless of their status as a public figure. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES: WHERE TO FIND US:
