And then if you look at your business, you know, and then think about it. Do you think in ten years that's gonna be more or less right? Probably more. And then if you look at your business and you think about how much of a chunk of that you're driving relationships via digital mediums, it's not gonna, you know, does it? Does it match your personal life? And do you think that do you think in ten years it's gonna become more like right? And are you gonna be in business in ten years? Do you know what I'm saying? Like I think that what it is is this break this like cognitive business and culture, our personal culture is very digital. Our business culture is like, Nah, that's for kids, right? So there's a big gray area right now, like you say, it's too late, man. I mean, it might. I don't think it's too late at all. Like I think it's just starting, man. Like I just think the sooner you get all this thing the better, right? Like and the more and the key is, what is the key to everything? It's don't don't try to be the star of the stage, be the stage yourself. Don't try to be a king. Be a kingmaker, right? Like the key is serving people. So if you take the attitude of service when you're growing relationships and when you're helping people out, you're going to do well. So I mean, 2020 was the covid year. How affected you or your business? Did you change a couple of things? I mean, everybody is going online. Everybody is using zoom. Everybody is in the digital world. How did this whole thing affect your business and your your way of creating content or producing content? It has completely unlocked everything, right? Like we at first when we first started, we started in January and we're like, well, we're gonna have people in the office, we're gonna produce this show. When covid hit we were like, well, we're just gonna assume calls. And now we don't have to fly in a guest. Now we can talk to somebody in San Francisco and it's no big deal, right? So covid, I believe that outside of the obvious tragedies of people getting sick and dying outside of the tragedies of people in the hospitality industry and people in the travel industry and everything in just about every other scenario, covid has simply accelerated a bunch of trends that were coming down the pipeline anyway, right? Like the fact that you don't have to live in new york to work in an investment bank because you can really do it virtually from anywhere that was already happening. Now it's obvious the fact that you know, you know universities in the united states are way too expensive, and they spend a bunch of stupid money on big buildings. When really you could just learn online and not charge you $40,000 a year. That was already happening. But now it's obvious. For us the fact that you can create relationships with people via content via zoom calls. And maybe it's not 100% of the same. Propinquity is the word I'm thinking of here. Like maybe it's not the same level of connection, but is it 85% the same level of connection, and does that 85% allow you to do it 500 times more, and therefore it's worth it? Yeah, it is right. So so I am fortunate that my business and I had, you know, I tell people that I've been working on this problem before covid. I've been working on how do I scale human relationships for about five years now.
| How introverts can produce content | 15 Feb 2021 | 00:04:35 | |
π You can use a different format: it doesnβt have to be a video! π You can use a blog, a newsletter and produce content and interview other people Pablo Gonzalez is the inventor of the Relationship Flywheel and co-founder of Be The Stage and host of the Chief Executive Connector and Not Your Average Investor podcasts. So I I believe in your strategy, and I but I know when people listen to this, they think well this Pablo. He's so he's speaking and he's so energy driven. Although yakup is also energy driven. But I can't do this. I'm an introvert. I can't go to the people. And what would you say to this kind of people who say, well, other people can do it, but I can't do this? First of all, introverts are some of the most valuable people in the room, right? Like me an as an extrovert, I am always missing s*** because I'm so I'm, like, always expending energy. So I find I find introverts to see to be some of the most observant people in the room. And if you're not comfortable on stage, speaking to a bunch of people you're blog can be your stage. Your email list can be your stage, you know? So use that superpower of observation to create, you know, a stream of observations that could help people, and the way that you use it as a stage is some of the stuff you're writing about you. Some of the stuff you're writing about somebody else. It's the same one to one strategy. You just don't have to be in front of a camera, right? Like there's plenty of blog-driven communities, man, you know, so so as an introvert. By the way, the other fallacy is that introverts don't like people. Introverts like people. They just don't like them they just get drained when they're around a lot of people, right? So I do believe that I've everybody that's like, I'm an introvert. But once I start talking in a conversation, I love it, right. So, you know, if it doesn't mean that you gotta be like height man like I am right? Like, this does come very natural to me, but you can reach out to someone and be like, hey, I got this blog.

π Who is the audience that you serve? π Find your own voice! π Define the core values that you have π What do they care about? How would you define community or yeah, first of all, this question and then the second question would be when you want to create your own tribe, your own community, what are steps to start? I mean, we're already so much high. And when people are starting out, they need some baby steps. Yeah, I would focus on serving as many people as you can around the topic that you care about, right? Like and what that looks like is exactly how I started with jwb. Who are you trying to serve, like? What's the cause that you're passionate about? Right they were passionate about rental properties. I'm passionate about building relationships. So everything that I talk about in content is just like giving every piece of advice that I have on how to make people like you more. Right. And once you figure that out, right, like once you, first of all, find your voice, right? Like, understand what you're speaking about. What you believe define, define what it is. What are your core values, right? Like if you wanna build a community, you need to build it around something, and the minimum viable thing that you build it around is values. Right, so so get really clear on that. First. Once you're clear on that, right, like and I'm assuming that the person that's thinking I want to create a community is already clear on that figure out who you're trying to serve with, those that have those values what they care about. You know, like, what else do they care about? What you have to say is one thing that they care about, what else do they care about? And then once you can figure out what else they care about, try to give it to them, right? So that's why to me, the stage is the crucial thing, right? Because if you can, if you can then be like, okay, so then my stage is gonna be my Facebook group or my Facebook account, right? And let's say I care about yoyos and all I have is a Facebook account. Nothing else.

So if you're in the audience and someone's on stage, the brain is telling you this person must have added value that I don't have. They've got something special here and that's why they're there. And I'm here, right? Same reason people tell you don't believe everything you see on tv because your brain is doing that at all times, right? So and then on top of that, I'm like, on top of that, because I shared the stage with people of a certain ilk. I got this, like, guilty by association buoyancy of this like expertise value. And at that moment, I thought to myself, how can I use this trick to serve other people, right? Like, because at this time I'm like, I know value. I know giving people values to move. So instead of thinking, how can I get on more stages? I thought, how can I provide stages for others to get what I want? And what I wanted was to become more important in my company. So I reached out to this developer that was building this high rise on top of the metro rail station from the University of Miami, you know, in like a rich neighborhood of Miami called coral gables. And the residents didn't want it there because they don't want high rises in their backyard. But because he was building it on top of the metro rail station, I knew he was incentivizing public transportation. It's called transit-oriented development. And that's important for Miami. So I reached out to him. I'm like, listen, man, I've been working with charities for the last 15 years. I've got these, like, three different young professional groups that I'm a leader of. I wanna have an event about the importance of public transportation in Miami. I want to talk about your project and how that fits in. I'm gonna bring another politician on the board of one of my charities that cares about public transportation and land you an attorney that I started one of these groups with, we're gonna talk about transit-oriented development, this developer with this hotly contested project that wouldn't have taken my call if I'm saying, hey, I want to give you a bid is like, sure I'm in when right, so shows up, do this little event.
| Why community is a business model | 11 Feb 2021 | 00:03:09 | |

The church's business model is community like that's a business model. And then once I started seeing as a business model, I started the reticular activator hit, and I started seeing it everywhere. I started realizing that somebody that buys a harley davidson all of a sudden can't go by a japanese, bike two years later, because they lose all their friends, right? So I started. I started seeing how businesses implement community, and so I started getting obsessed with this idea of how do you turn community as the machine that builds your business? And then the other thing that happened was as people started reaching out to me about my brother, one person after another would tell me, your brother, you know, i'd walk into a room if your brother was in the room. I knew it was a good room. He was always bringing people together. He was always making sure everybody was comfortable. And I don't know if you have older brothers, man, but you know, there's just like weird dynamic having a brother that's that much older than you. I always called him like my my my example in my north star because I would always look it and be like, well, if bert did this and that didn't go well, then I don't want to do it. But I never, ever thought well, bert did this. And that's good. And I do want to do that right? So all of a sudden i'm like, getting all this feedback from people that they see my brother the way that i've always wanted to be seen. And I never saw that right. And the idea that somebody who is the best man at my wedding and you know, I was the best man at his wedding very, very close, that I could miss this extraordinary value who had to everybody around them. I started thinking, who else am I missing their value, right? Like who? What other person have I not forgiven? Or do I judge before I extract that value from them that can add to my life and I can add to other people's lives? So I just became obsessed with this concept. I became obsessed with the concept that everybody has value and that if I could get really good at understanding someone's value and sharing it with other people, I could be creating community

So is that do you have a topic that you never spoke about in a podcast or an interview and you would love to speak about or just maybe it's a statement or something that you truly want to share with the world. Is there something? Oh, that's a tough one, because yeah, I'm trying just come through, like all of the conversations I've had when it comes to marketing and thinking about where that comes to be. And I would say that the biggest I would say something that I haven't shared a lot is thinking about marketing. Especially from a startup context is that marketing can't just live in our own bubble of just creating content. Marketing needs to be embedded in a cross-functional way. Your typical marketing person now can't just be a nontechnical person that just writes content. But sometimes, especially in my world, where it's in a technology company, you have to be able to interact with engineers, product designers, and you also have to be able to interact.

Yes, I think when it comes to digital marketing, this might be a little more like away from, like your traditional like SEO, sem and digital display. But I think there's a huge emphasis around two things. One is building community, but also two is, having real writers your CEO writing something or someone that is actually writing content. It's not just from a content marketing person, right? It's really important. Authentic voices. I've been noticing that if you one trend that I've noticed in like pr and marketing is that there's a lot of journalists who have been in the traditional newsroom, they have now left those jobs to start their own newsletter now.

So I mean, feedback has this connotation. It is not that positive, but changing this connotation or this way of how people feel about it is in my opinion a big thing. So how do you market? How do you think strategically about the marketing process? So and and also the execution, I mean I mean, this is a big task. It is. It is. And we can't change it overnight. We can only change it through conceded efforts of concerted efforts of helping people to normalize that feedback isn't something that when you hear about like sometimes, you know, you have a cold sweat hearing that you got feedback, right or you're about to be pulling for a call. How do we change that culture? And I think one of the biggest way that we're gonna be focused in 2021 is really making it more of a habit and a ritual where if you constantly always get feedback both positive and constructive, you're going to start believing that. So when I get feedback is like a gift. I'm actually delighted to see it. And for us, is really about creating content that speak to our users. So one of the things that our team is still fairly scrappy and small where team of 13 so the marketing team is myself and two other people, right? So it's still a very small team. And we don't have the multi million dollar budget that we would have, you know, at apple, right? And so we have to think about what are ways we could bring people into our door. And a lot of that is through, like, seo, building out amazing content that people might be googling for something.

So you described matter. I'm not sure if I really got it. So do you. I mean, giving feedback on a professional way. But are these things, digital products or do you go to these companies and help them with the professional feedback? Can you explain it in a more detailed way? Yeah. So we are a saas solution, which is software as a service and a digital platform. You have your team. Your peers is 360 degree feedback. Right? Feedback isn't just top down, but also bottom off as well, right. If you are an employee, you can ask feedback among your peers, right. Your co-workers. But you also can ask feedback to your manager. But even if you're a manager, you should also be asking feedback from your team as well, right? It's not just, top down where manager only gets feedback from their manager. Right for us, we want to build a an environment where people can thrive when they see that they got feedback, right? I think for me, I always see that feedback is a gift because throughout my career. It's always easier to give someone positive feedback. But it's very hard to give someone constructive feedback, primarily because we either are a little bit scared to confront someone with, like feedback. That might not be too positive.

So when it comes to Forbes, I would say that you have to pick, your unique spin to what you want to write about. Like when it comes to my personal writing, you have to write something that you care about and you lived like. If you are writing about a certain product like an industry, then you probably need to love that industry because that means that you not only write about it, but you also follow people in that industry. Right for me is you gotta find where that is. Is that on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok.

But can you describe how this happened so that you became a Forbes contributor and okay, so this is the 1st question? Yeah, this happened. Yeah, so I've been a big fan of Forbes. I mean, Forbes is an international brand. We all heard about Forbes. Whether is through the Midas list or the world's richest list are also the Forbes 30 under 30 list, right? And been always, you know, really love the content that's written by their editors, but also their large network of contributors who cover a variety of topics in the industry. Right? And I got I would say, I've always wanted to be a Forbes writer, probably way back in, maybe 2011 when I was still in school. But I never thought about ever writing for them. You said you work for these big companies like apple. So milion, millions of budget and also the startups for starting from scratch or solopreneurs. So what lessons did you learn from working or seeing both sides? Are their typical lessons that you learned or things that you say well, this worked for them. But this could also work for the solopreneur or the startup. Are there some lessons that you can share? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I enjoy my experience at apple very dearly. I mean, you build products, you tell stories and it's heard by millions of people across. Yeah, it does that feel like that. And I think that's what we've been taught during our new employee orientation, obviously. But at the end of the day, it does have that impact across the world and the care. The attention through every single piece of copy or even a tweet has many people looking at it right. And also, you have a lot of people behind. A lot of these accounts, right? And I think for me when it comes to about when I look back at my days at Apple. It was always about, the attention to detail the care for every single letter syllables, punctuation in a sentence, right? And it's very slow and methodic, very process-driven, right? And looking back, you know, when I first, you know, left apple. I always felt that we were we had too many processes and things moved too slow, right? But you know what? I think that's what it takes when you run a big company like that with tens of 1000 decentralized employees across the world, and you're really trying to sell a product message or product. A lot of that requires a lot of discipline. And how do you say consistency when you have 10 people writing about the same thing, right?

That's also what you're doing with close the gap, right? Absolutely. Yeah. A lot of our work is to find low-income students before they fall through the cracks. And I think that our goal is not to just come in and teach someone to be a software engineer or marketer, but really helping them find role models in their life to help instill them with confidence, lifelong relationship, and confidence that can carry them through whatever they want to dream of becoming. We don't tell people to come into our program saying that, hey, you have to be this or that. It's more about, you know, you have a lifetime to discover what you will become. We're just here for this part of the journey to help you have the confidence to figure out what you want to do, right? And I think for us, that's the biggest importance is that you can teach someone to be in an occupation, but that's gonna be fleeting. But if you teach someone to be confident, they're gonna be able to pursue whatever they want in their life, and our goal is to really instill them in that growth mindset to know that you know your dream might change. But as long as you have that confidence, that growth mindset, you can pursue whatever you want, no matter how old, how young you are. And no matter what stage you are in your life, I'm just curious. So when it comes to a growth mindset, how are you doing this? So I mean, do you have strategies? Do you have projects that you implement or how are you doing this? Yes. So when it comes to a growth mindset, I would say that I like to set goals for myself, but at the same time, it's, you know, it's 2020.

I'm executing that for myself. I'm about to start executing it the way that I executed for clients. Right. But like, I've been doing this right, one person to person and, like, get, you know, I'm a fanatical networker. So it's like I got to know you. Oh, I introduce you to this person, right? Like now, for the last, like, two years i've been doing it on zoom, recording it, chopping it up, and then, you know, same exact thing, man. What? Like when I would be at a networking event, pre covid and i'd be in a conversation, somebody say something smart, step step to the side of me, and i'd be like, so i'm over here with this person, and you just said cyber hygiene. What does that mean? You know, and they say, and then I just post that two minute clip on linkedin like I just met this person they're awesome, like yeah, right. That's that's the thing. Yeah. Yeah. So, like, so now i've designed a whole methodology to execute this as a service that I have been, you know, implementing very deliberately for this $160 million real estate investing fund that's been on the front page of the wall street journal a couple of times. And, you know, see, this is the core concept, right? But you take inventory of you know who they're trying to serve and who their clientele is. And, like, what else does their clients will want to know about, right? Like, what else do they care about? Apart from investing in real estate, right? Maybe maybe taxes. How to yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So correct. We've had a tax strategist on. Yeah, we've had a bunch of clients come on to talk about why, you know, like, they're investing philosophy, but not talk about us, right? Another city and I also went to another country to china. Okay, so yeah, kind of far. So you know, never in your life do you ever repeat the feeling of the first couple of weeks of the first year of college. Because you're you're never again in this situation where everybody, it's new, everything is new to everybody at the same time and you have a blank slate. Covid is the first month of freshman year of college. Like everybody got, everybody got rocked. So like every everybody got put on. Like I just I really think that man yes. And the podcast is a fantastic way to do this because I have one question that I always ask my interview partners. And this is who do you recommend for my podcast? And this is so powerful because it I'm getting into the network of geniuses. That's really what it is. Because I would never meet these people when I don't ask this question. So it is a very important question. And I mean, this is the reason why we're speaking now. Yeah. Yeah. So one great way is a subscription model. So if you're a thought leader like Iβm following a lot of Brendon Burchard, and he, for example, has this what's called high-performance high performance monthly live session or something. So, like a group, yeah, like a group. But you have you you pay a monthly fee like you're going to the gym or like or it's also called it a little bit also like Netflix. So you're paying for something and you can consume as much as you want. And you have one session each month where he's teaching 90 minutes or 60 minutes and I think 60 minutes, and he's giving value. And also, although answering questions and giving away also presents in his life sessions and things like that, yeah, very interactive and people, they also get the recording. But if you attempt life, you can get more things. So this is one way how thought leaders, can very fast, I think can also create extra revenue.

What do you mean by tell me a little bit more about what you mean by monetizing the content? Yeah. So there are different business models for how you can earn money online. So there's, for example, the freemium model. Okay, that's a combination of free and premium. This is basically the from software companies. So you have a free version of something that you offer in order to get the attention of your customer. So for example, skype, skype. There's the free version where you use skype. And there's also skype business. So you have the software industry. This is very common. So many use this. You have a baseline where you offer your service for free. And then if you want more, more minutes per call or something or you want to record the call, then you need skype business. Where you pay something. Sure, but you can think about this also, about your own business doesn't matter what kind of business you are. You can offer something, but this can be a free consultation. 30 minutes, 30-minute call where you give just advice or strategic lessons and or a free webinar. And at the end, you you're selling some products or, something a coaching session or something like this. So this is one business model that you create can create. Yeah. That's a great idea. Yeah. The whole coaching session strategy session. I like that. Yeah.

I mean, I know we kind of touched on it a little bit, but, um, I feel this is a bigger topic than then. Just a little bit of what we touched on. So if a company wants to, create digital revenue so it doesn't matter if you create physical products or not, or just have a consulting business, you can monetize in my opinion everything you want. So it's important that you create content and think about a business model. So that's the number one thing that you have to focus on because otherwise, you will be out of business. That's very sad. But that's today the reality because many companies or many at c-level they still think, well, digital business models. That's not our thing. We just have physical products. I am not sure if this is really long term and really healthy to think about this.

And action is underrated these days. So I would I mean, yes, we need some guidance, but just trying, trying it and doing yourself is the most important thing I think. And this is just what I wanted to add to what you said just a minute before. Yeah, sure, sure, yeah. Perfect. Yeah. You got to try it and experiment as well because it's not I'm not gonna go viral in the first episode. Just put something out there. I tell this story, actually, a lot on my podcast is like I used to do stand up comedy. And, I was really impressed with one of my shows, like my third show or something. I was like, yeah, that was really good. And the mc comes up to me in the green room, and he's like, yeah, dude, that was good. But like, don't just forget all of these ones that you like, forget all these shows because you're gonna be s*** for 50 shows like you have to after the 50th one then you can start, like, getting good. But he said, do 50 shows and then we'll talk.

| Why Gary Vee is so successful! | 21 Jan 2021 | 00:04:40 | |
Beck Power, the host of the Amplify Content podcast, interviewed me about content marketing and how to build trust in a digital world. You can watch a short video snippet from our conversation. π Β It is not only about quantity; it is all about quantity AND quality! π Gary is constantly liking sharing, and commenting on comments! Thatβs the reason why people love him so much π He created a valuable PDF about how to create 64 pieces of content a day; you can find the link in the comment section; Do you need support with content? In February 2021 Iβm starting my brand new podcast coaching course where I help you create content and generate your dream clients! And I think in terms of content as well, I said this on another podcast. You know, if you're creating one piece of content, whether it's a video or whatever, every week, then you have at the end of the year, 52 videos and you had some practice. It's great. But if you create, you know, three videos a week, you know, or try to do a thing where you do it once every day. Not, only are you building your skill. You know, you're doing three times more. You're getting three times more pieces of content. You're building your skill. And you know, if you're posting every day on any platform, it's gonna love you. You know your algorithms are gonna love you. You're gonna get tons of traction, followers, clients, whatever you are looking for. A lot of times, the more you post, the more successful you are on different platforms like Gary Vee says to post, like 40 or 50 times a day, sometimes on different platforms. I don't know if I agree with that. That feels excessive to me. What do you think? So Gary has, I mean he polarizes people that's for sure. But I like him and I also respect him within the industry because he's a, in my opinion, one of the big, big guys. And I also read this pdf that you mean where he explains how to create? I think 64 pieces of content each day. Yeah, so I think, well, I mean, when you're starting and somebody gives you this you will be overwhelmed. So I think when you like people like us, it's I think we have to check it and challenge this. And in my opinion, there are many parts which I think are very, very good. For example, he doesn't say that only quantity is the most important thing. But he posts and then he watches what is happening? So this is something that many people miss. They just push. They push their content but they don't they don't like when people are commenting on their posts.
| The BEST way to generate trust in a digital world | 20 Jan 2021 | 00:04:06 | |
Beck Power, the host of the Amplify Content podcast, interviewed me about content marketing and how to build trust in a digital world. You can watch a short video snippet from our conversation. π Create video content that shows you and your interview partner adding value to your community π Many people are forced to stay home and go online! So, they have to decide if they trust you or not based on videos, audios, and articles that you published. π Β Make sure that you solve the problems of your target audience π Β Go watch some of Brian Bogertβs videos on his channel! He creates amazing videos! Do you need support with content? In February 2021 Iβm starting my brand new podcast coaching course where I help you create content and generate your dream clients! Just check the link in the comment section for more information! #content #podcast #contentmarketing #trust #online #digital #onlinemarketing #coaching You can find more information about my podcast coaching here: https://yakup1988.kartra.com/page/Podcastmentoring π§π§ Β You can listen to the whole interview here: Transcript: And do you think there's like in terms of finding that balance to build trust online? Is there a like process that you use to help people decide what they should do, like what type of content they should produce? It comes down to your target audience. That's always the thing. But I recommend video. I mean these days. I mean, through corona. Many people are forced to stay at home, so they are surfing online and many more businesses going online, and many people are not sure. Can I trust this person? Who is this person? Can I trust him or her? And I trust somebody when I see him or her. So I would recommend starting with video and video is for many people. Many people are scared to stay in front of a camera and to speak. But I think in the long term if you can, if you can train your video skills in front of a camera, this is the best thing that you can do in my opinion. And that's also what I always recommend. But some do it some don't, which is fine. I feel a little bit strange when I say video is a trend because I already started 10 years ago. So my first job in a tv station, it was 2009 and I realized there already. Okay, I must be good in front of a camera. This was a must for me, and since then, Iβm practicing it. It's not perfect, but Iβm becoming better. And that's the most important lesson. Also for the people who are watching this. You become better when you do it. That's the most important thing to remember. Yeah, there are so many times in, like, different situations in life where we're looking at doing something and we're thinking about it and we're waiting and you can't really? Most of the time you can't get good at something unless you actually do it. No matter how many books you read about making videos or how many TikTok videos you watch or whatever like until you practice and you put something out there, that's when you start to like things have to start.
| Ever struggled to create content? Listen to this! | 19 Jan 2021 | 00:03:28 | |
Beck Power, the host of the Amplify Content podcast, interviewed me about content marketing and how to build trust in a digital world. You can watch a short video snippet from our conversation. π Β Donβt overcomplicate the process. Itβs very simple. π Β Choose a topic. Start recording videos about your topic. Get some feedback. Start again! π Β You donβt have to know all the details about content creation in order to start producing something valuable! π Β It is better to start instead of being perfect! Do you need support with content? In February 2021 Iβm starting my brand new podcast coaching course where I help you create content and generate your dream clients! I know. My clients, my clients struggle with, like, thinking that they're posting too often or worrying that their content isn't perfect. Do you have other issues that you have encountered? They think after one month, producing two podcasts, it has they have to find a sponsor, for example. It has... Yeah, or they're posting one. They're posting one video, and they're thinking, this is not going viral. Why? It looks like that. So I think you have to be. It's like a skill. That, and you have to. And the weird thing is, when it comes to digital skills, everybody thinks it's like in the matrix that you put a stick USB stick and then you have all the knowledge, all the experience. But you have to train people. You have to train yourself. Also for these digital skills. That's the important thing. And many don't realize this, but it takes effort and it takes time. Yeah, it takes time. It takes effort. It takes failing. You know people, people wanna look good online. You know, everyone's posting their yachts and Lambos and stuff like that or, you know, they're perfect family or whatever it is. And everybody wants to look good and to look, I think sometimes do you know, like, you know, when people go the opposite direction, you know, everybody looks really good. Usually. And then some people, they're like, oh, I have to look vulnerable. And I have to look like people should trust me and love me and like, you feel closer to me. So Iβm going to share something. But then they go, like, too far, like overshare another direction. And it's like, oh, god, that was way too much information. Yeah. I feel like people need to find a balance in the middle, not showing off some fake stuff, not over-sharing. You need to find something in the middle. Yes, absolutely. I think it's a yin and yang. So you have to find the balance between both. Think of it as a diary. You don't have to share 100% of the things that you are writing down in your diary. So maybe 80% is enough. Keep some secrets. Yeah, keep it. Yeah,

Like telling, clients, for example. Okay, well, yeah, you have this great offer, but stop with this crappy content that's all about you and start making it about the clients, do you have any difficulty trying to get your clients to see things from that point of view? Yes, of course, all the time. So at the beginning is always like tension. So you have to convince them almost that they have to create content that has nothing to do with them. So forget all about this hero marketing, so I am the best. I'm the biggest. I'm the strongest. So, tell stories that are related to your target audience that makes maybe you also vulnerable so that you show weakness. That's also fine. If it's included in your content strategy, this is totally fine. But many struggles with this.

Or maybe they're just they've been in business a long time, but they haven't really. They know they should be doing more content. What are your tips for them if they're feeling like, oh, holy crap? There's just so much to do. So if they didn't start yet right? If they're starting out with content, okay, yeah, I would start with a podcast, so this would be the easiest. So if you if you're starting out because the podcast, it's the easiest to produce because you can record like this zoom call. You can take the audio and you can publish it on your podcast host. And you already have one episode. So this is a very good starting point podcast because you get you, you get in connection with like-minded people. You speak with them, you interview them and maybe they'll become your clients because, I mean, you're spending one hour very close asking questions and then recording this and publishing it. So maybe they also become your dream clients. You never know. So this would be my advice that you start your own podcast related to your business. So if you, for example, if you I mean my podcast is content marketing mastery. So Iβm focusing on the area of content marketing because that's my area. But you can focus on your area and start your own podcast. That's a great thing. Yeah, and for people I know in those types of groups where people say, Iβm thinking about starting a podcast and then there waiting, like, six months, you know? And they want to get their podcast art and they wanna hire, audio editor. And they need to find out. You know how sponsorship works and which platform they should host on. There's a lot. I mean, listen, there's a lot of questions when you're starting out. And you and I can go, we could start a podcast in one minute. You know, it's, really easy to do. You just get grab an app, record yourself. Push published. But some people want to overthink that do you have any advice for them? Yeah, just do it. I mean, just instead of listening to this episode start your own podcast would be my advice.

I think everything begins and ends with you, right? And so when we realize that we realize that the good things that happened to us and the bad things that happened to us begin and end with us as well. So it's this concept of shifting from the victim mentality to the ownership and accountability mentality. Right? And so many people have been like, how did you move through what you've done? I talked about it like I learned not to get stuck by what happened to me, but instead get moved by what I could do with it. And so the reality of it is like this. This concept that I'm playing with is that we all have the ability to be our own savior. Right? We don't need to rely on somebody else to pick us up. We don't need to rely on somebody else to pull us along. Like if we actually center and really connect with the fact that we are our own saviors, we can and will be our own saviors. Then we are the ones who are gonna be responsible for the outcomes in our life. Good, bad, or indifferent. And so I would just ask anybody who's listening today to really take tall on your life. And look at. Hey, am I in a victim mentality? Do I place blame on other people for where I'm at? What's happening? Do I feel like life is fate and it's just happening to me? Or do I feel like I can influence control that? And once you have the answer to that question, then you apply the lens of okay, what if I was my own savior? What if I was my own savior? What would I be able to do if I could fix these problems? If I could put myself in the best position to succeed? That's what I wanna leave people with.

I asked myself. Okay. Is he teaching some entrepreneur skills to his children? And if yes, how? So because I also have a little son. So that would be interesting. Also for me. So I wouldn't call it entrepreneur skills. I would call it life skills. But we're super intentional about it, right. So and I think that those things apply holistically. And that's just, like, generally our philosophy. So, yes. You know, both of my kids have been doing "I am" statements from the time they could talk, and I am statement is an answer to who are you question. Right. So I could ask: Yakup who are you? And you could answer that question based on who you are today and the things you've already done or based on who you want to become. The things you want to accomplish. Both are equally powerful. And so literally. Since the time my kids have been talking, we've been doing I am statements like I am strong. I am worthy of. I am brave. I am. I am capable of. Right? And we've got certain statements that we say every morning before we go to school and you know, it was pretty cool because my son, when he was in preschool, we picked him up from preschool, and that was one of the exercises that they did in his class. And his teacher came up to me as I was picking him up and said, you won't believe what happened today. I was like, what? She said. We always ask people to just complete the statement I am. And she said, four and five-year-olds completely struggled with this and she said, but not your son. Your son rattled off. I am strong. I am brave. I am kind. I am unlimited. I am the manifestation of my thoughts. I'm like he literally rattled off like six, and she was like, blowing away.

One-shots. So this is also something that I learned from Brendon Burchard. That you shoot the video like when you deliver a keynote, you don't have chances to get back and say something in a different way. You deliver your message, and if there's a moment where you're not focused, that's it. You don't have a second chance. And why don't you figure out the exact same way on camera so that you produce one-shots, that you just have this one bullet, nothing else! And when you produce videos with this mindset, it becomes much better in the long term. And then and then it translates to your life skills as well. I couldn't agree with that more. I think that's exactly the case. And, you know, if you even watch some of my last ten videos, there's a couple of them where I make a mistake and I, like, call it out in the post-editing right. I mispronounced a word or something, and I didn't even realize it until my editor went and started working on it, you know, and it's like and we just make a joke about it because we're human. Right on stage. I make mistakes like we make mistakes, roll with it, don't get caught up in it, and just, you know, it's not that big of a deal. And I think you're exactly right. Like, that's part of the reason I do one take now on Bogert's bullets. It is what it is. I don't even re-watch them anymore. Like I used to watch him, pick him critic him, edit him. Now, I'm at the point where my content guy, literally, I send it off.

You already mentioned it several times when it comes to content creation. So the interaction with the audience is very important, but also the topics. So how do you come up with ideas? Because this is something that many people struggle with. I don't know the topics. I don't know what to write about or to shoot my video about. So do you have a strategy or how do you come up with content ideas? Yes. So and I look at content in multiple different mediums because we have video content, audio content. We've got written content and I think I look at those through slightly different lenses. No pun intended there. But it's one of those things where, you know, for articles, in particular, I look at articles and the ones that we write, the ones we've been published that have been published in Forbes and other things have been really around a structure on, like, where is an area of expertise that I have either working with clients, overcoming something myself, something with study and human behavior performance. And how can we create, like, a longer-form piece of content that can actually give actionable tools that somebody can read and consume in a different way, right? People read and consume differently than how they watch and consume or hear and consume. And so you know, we'll write the content I work with. I work with a copyrighting team to be able to help, like take my thoughts and put them into some sort of a structure. They're still my words. My, my, my, my thoughts, my lessons.

And are there any changes that you recognize and that you or lessons that you learned in the last couple of months through covid-19? So presenting virtually I mean the connection, you don't have an audience in front of you. It's different. You look into a camera. So do you have some lessons from this process from virtual events? Yeah, absolutely. So first and foremost. I mean, you commented on my studio and my nice set up that was one of the first things I did after covid hit was shifted the way I did things. And it's been through a couple of different evolution, so I'll talk about that first and then I'll talk about some of the lessons that I've kind of extracted because it's partially technology, partially like the application as well. So when I first started doing it, all I did was the camera, and I was still working on a 27-inch iMac, and I had a different background and I was just kind of the backdrop of my room. It wasn't an actual, like a studio set up. And so then I started to evolve from there, and I was like, you know, I need to get a backdrop. I need to make sure that I've got things set up appropriately. You know, that's a real shelf. When you and I last talked, you asked me that I went back and pick the book up off of the shelf, right. I didn't want a virtual background. I wanted my technology to help differentiate me because I look at life. It's like life is all about how you show up, right? The first thing is that you show up. The second thing is, how do you show up, like how present, how active, how engaged are you?

So is it something that you always tell? And there is a shorter version, and when it comes to a keynote, it is. It is the long version. So how do you choose this for yourself? Yeah, I think it's all about context and, like, what's the audience? And what's the purpose, right? So I think there will be times that I'll embed my story as like a literally, almost a sentence where it's like: I was run over by a truck. My arm was ripped off, right? There's a slightly more robust version than that. There's a version that I just told, which is often a similar platform that I tell on these types of venues, right, like podcasts and different types of audiences, where we can compress it in three minutes or less so that it's more of a soundbite and people can capture the whole story, but they get enough context to understand it. And then yes, to your point, when I give a keynote whether it's live or virtual, I often tell that story in a much longer form. And I give different elements to the story than what we heard today because you have to imagine with as crazy as this story is the three-minute version that I told today or roughly, however long it was, right? There's a lot of details missing, right, and there's a lot of details that actually our formative and meaningful as it relates to like stories and movement in that story. And so I tell it completely differently from the stage. What's interesting, too, is when I tell it from the stage and again, I'm gonna call that virtual or live. That's the one place that I tell the story. Third-person.

What advice would you give? Yeah, so, by the way, I also think it's interesting. I'm gonna make one comment before I'm gonna answer the question. There was a long time I didn't think my story mattered. There was a long time. I didn't think I could use my story to help other people. And I've been on stage since I was seven years old, and I don't say that to impress. I say that to impress upon the point like I was literally on stage because my story was unique and I was from a very young age and there was still a lot of times where I felt like my story wasn't that important or it wasn't that big of a deal. And so often I never led with my story so often, people, I would have friends for 5,6,7 years who would never know about my accident, my injury, my arm at all, because it wasn't something that was like talked about a whole lot. It just was something that was a part of me. And so the reason I say that is I have a crazy, unique story that I obviously have learned how to tell in a way that can have a true impact. But I want to just say for anybody who thinks their story isn't that important, that big of a deal. Mine is one of the most unique I've ever heard. And again, I don't say that to impress, I say to impress upon the point and I still didn't think it was working. So there's a mental and emotional shift that we've got to move through. That's the first place we have.
